We had a great experience talking on the phone with Nathan regarding a 2008 Subaru Outback several months ago. We negotiated a good price and talked about the warranties and state of the car. However, when we went to Walnut Creek to see and buy the car next day, we had to deal with Wendy. She was not only late to our appointment, we had to ask her to put on a mask which she kept under her nose. Additionally, she was pushy, snippy, and had that condescending used car salesman attitude. My partner wanted to walk out of the dealership then and there because of how unpleasant our interaction was. All the 5 stars, gotta be a joke. Horrible experience. Purchased a car for my grandparents, that appeared to be a great deal, but in fact was a total scam. Every car sold in a lot, is required to have a pre-sale inspection by a certified mechanic. We were under the impression the car was in excellent condition and required no necessary maintenance. On the drive home we were already experiencing issues, that weren't detectable during our test-drive. I immediately brought it in to my trusted mechanic, and low and behold, there were tons of unaddressed problems with the vehicle. The cost of the repairs exceeded the value of the car. Instead of it being a smooth return for 3-day-owned-vehicle, they were uncooperative, unprofessional, and claimed we had to pay for a restocking fee as well as their commission! Totally unreal. In May I purchased a 2011 BMW 328i from Best prices. To be honest I only purchased this car because I didn't want to put hella miles on my 2017 Audi A7. Nathan and his team have amazing customer service in person don't get me wrong they are very nice people however the reason why I am giving this review a 1 star rating is.... I've had to spend a little over 5,000 on repairs that were totally there when I purchased the car. On my drive home I noticed some strange chirping noises I thought it could have been a recall issue . So i called and left a few messages for Nathan and his team but no one returned my calls nor did anyone respond to my messages. To ease my mind I purchased one of those Diagnostic code readers and I plugged it in thinking I would have all theses codes pop up but none so I thought well I bought the car with 139,979 miles on it so I assumed it's because it was 8 years old maybe thats what it sounds like. I love my car It's my get around town car pick up the kids from daycare date night car you know the other car. Mind you I've only put 350 miles on it since I made my purchase in May and it's only September Last week I was driving around doing my errands the service engine light came on and I thought to myself that's was weird because Nathan told me the car was just serviced at BMW in December. Granted that was 6 months before I bought the car but they guaranteed that all the problems were taken care of. So I get it towed to my local BMW dealership and they are telling me that not only was the car in need of repairs but they are 100% sure all of these repairs were there before I purchased the car. I called Nathan and left a few messages telling them the outcome and could they call me back. No response. I was able to reach another associate who informed me that he would call over to his friend that worked at BMW who happened to work on my car and they would call me back. Which he never did. I called every day and I was told someone would get back to me. Finally got a hold of Nathan and told him what had happened and he asked me to bring the car over to him so he could try and work out a better deal then the BMW dealership was quoting me but I had already had them start Work on fixing my car The car is running great now but I noticed that the chirping was still there so I took it back to BMW and they just found that the chirping came from the power steering and from the alternator and the only way for you to notice it is if you drove the car around. Which my service advisor and I highly doubt that the BMW service department that Nathan's friend works at didn't do. In the end I honestly don't want to believe that I was sold a car that needed to have repairs. I also don't want to believe that Nathan and his team at best prices knew about the repairs but still sold me a car that need over 6k worth of work done to it.. unfortunately the proof is in the receipt plus the dealership could see when and what the other service department worked on. Either they fixed some of the issues and someone at Best prices was driving that car into the ground or they neglected to fix all of the major issues and just left it for the customer to deal with. Honestly If it wasn't me it would have been someone else writing this review. I'm sad because I didn't read the reviews about other people's experience so please learn from my mistake. If you are going to buy a used car from any used car dealership bring your mechanic do a test drive in heavy traffic because once you get it home it might turn out to be a lemon. Worst experience of my life!!!! I saw a vehicle posted on craigslist around the 7th or 8th of January and I thought my prayers had been answered. I am disabled and had been looking for a vehicle similar to my last which was a suburban. I'm able to put my wheel chair in the trunk as well as groceries and so forth no issues so a bigger vehicle is preferable. This vehicle was perfect, almost too perfect. Attached is the craigslist post. Please not the dates and verbiage. I thought the truck was purchased not only fair but low so I of course has questions. I walked in with my home care worker who brought me all the way from Hayward might I ad. As we walked in Jay (I believe he said that was his name - the owner) greeted me. He then asked what I was interested in. I asked if he still had the Suburban. He asked the young lady in the front. She said it was in the back so he pointed to the back. I asked how to get back there because it looked like a bit much but I decided to make a walk of it. He slightly giggled or smirked if you will and said you just walk right around to the back. Now I had been to well over 500+ car dealerships in my 33 years of life. My uncle is a auto body mechanic so I know a little bit about cars but I have never had someone just tell me to go look at the car and not say come back to the office if anything interest you or anything just go look in the back. After we opened the vehicle I wondered if someone would come out. We walked back to the front and I asked if someone would start it up for us. He (Jay) said sure and was about to give us the keys and I said oh you guys don't do that for the customer. I'm assuming he was offended. He said no we trust our customers here and we even allow our customers to do their test drives around their selves which most places don't allow and after 32 years of owning this business I havn't had one issue. I just said okay and had my worker go because by that time my legs were running on E since I'm typically in a wheel chair. Her daughter and I stayed behind and I had questions for Jay. I asked how long he had the vehicle on the lot. Honestly it was to make conversation. I totally forgot about the date on the ad but when he gave the wrong answer (stating about a couple days or a week) it triggered my mind to the ad. I had been looking at this ad for well over 20 days because I had been asking my father to come with me to check out the truck but being disabled relying on other's it isn't always easy. At any rate I said how can it be a week the post has been up for at least 20 days on craigslist. That's falsification of information. Jay became irate and said look you don't have to buy the vehicle. I'm a Christian and keep going on about how he's owned the place for over 30 years with no issues and so on. I was in shock. Once my home care worker came back in the room everyone was in shock about the situation. I explained to the young lady who worked the office what had happened. I asked could I work with someone else and Jay said that he was the owner and that was not happening. He said we could start over that was the only way I could buy the car. I said okay I understand that but in starting over I just would like to ask about some things like the mileage and the service history. He said what for. I just left. We could not come to an understanding. I don't think he understood how or why someone would place $6,000 on the table for a vehicle based on something that was written about it without seeing it. I'm a Christian as well and the best thing I could do as a Christian was hold my tongue and walk out the room. You have the right to refuse service to anyone. I don't know if it were because I am an African American, a Woman or a Lesbian. Be it what it may, I've uploaded the Craigslist ad. The one thing (Jay) continued to say was you don't get all these great reviews on yelp and 32 years being in the business for nothing. What kind of used car dealer does not change fluids on the cars they sell??? This one!!! Just got back from the mechanic and after 3.5 months of owning a 2005 saab I am now replacing the transmission for what the car cost me in the first place. When asking the mechanic what caused this transmission failure he said that the transmission fluid had not been flushed in awhile and was extremely dirty. Upon investigating I found that 03 & 04 saabs had an issue with coolant leaking into the transmission so I asked the mechanic if this could of been the case and he said no. Then he asked when I bought the car and was surprised that the dealer did not have a complete service done including a transmission flush. I guess this is my fault for not buying a warranty but they still would of only covered half of a repair that they could of prevented by doing a normal service on a used vehicle. If you want to buy a car here do so at your own risk, have it checked out by your mechanic prior to buying...I just wish I had that time when I needed to get a car ASAP. read more

An awful, awful experience. I first walked in here a couple months with my mother to purchase my first car. Honestly, things were going smoothly for our first visit here. A lady (whom I cannot remember the name of) was nice and open with any questions we had since we were inexperienced buyers when it came to cars. The transaction was easy, there was no hassle, and we left with our car happy. But man, were we wrong... Things started to turn to hell for me and my mother just two weeks after the purchase. The car began shaking like crazy, the check engine and LOW OIL PRESSURE light came on. I needed this car to get to work and school, so this was a real disappointment to me. I simply thought that this car was low on oil or something since the dipstick was so dry. Luckily, I had a few friends that lived close by who came by to where I was stopped and had the right motor oil I needed. After this, a puddle of oil would begin dripping in our driveway. But it didn't stop there; this LOW OIL PRESSURE light persisted every week, so I had no choice but to go back to this place and see if they could do anything. Since we had purchased a warranty with them, they offered to pay for half the cost of maintenance, only if we went to their partner in crime mechanic, Tech Auto Center in Pittsburg (which is about a 30 minute drive for us). According to them, we needed the water pump, timing belt, camshaft seal, and crankshaft seal replaced, which costed us about $700 with the warranty. Fast forward a couple months, the same damn problems came up. At this point, we were totally done with this car. We didn't have time to drive back and forth; my mother was working six days a week and I was finishing up school. The head gasket "needed" to be replaced according to Tech Auto, so after fixing that we decided to put it up on Craigslist. We met up with a very calm and collected man who lived in our area and was interested in buying our car. After we settled on the deal and left, the check engine light came up again just after three hours! This guy knew what he was doing: he was an experienced buyer of cars on Craigslist and he took it to his trusted mechanic in Martinez. These guys looked at it, and said that they scammed us. The buyer still agreed to purchase it after maintenance from these guys, and I haven't heard of a problem since. Why was this car (with the condition it was in) on the market? In total, this car costed us $3,600 for maintenance. Tech Auto had their part in poor business, but Best Prices could have handled this situation WAY better. Best Prices and Tech Auto were definitely up to something by manipulating us because we were vulnerable buyers. I have very little respect for the owner, Richard, for the way acted with my mother and the minimal amount of patience he had. He would have these little tantrums in front of us, like WE were the issue, not the car HE sold us. My mother could not sleep at night because of all the stress this situation was causing her. They knew we didn't know what we were doing, so they looked at that as a good way for them to make an extra buck. Richard pointed his finger at me for the cause of the oil leak because in his eyes I'm just some ignorant 17 year old kid. I am so glad I never have to walk in here or Tech Auto ever again, doing business with these guys was a complete nightmare. (At least I walked away from this issue knowing a little more about what kind of dealers to avoid and what to check for when buying a used car) EDIT: A two months have passed since I sold my car to another person through Craigslist. He informed us yesterday that the engine had blow out (after driving for 1000 miles) due to a faulty oil pump replacement from the idiots in Pittsburg. read more

I purchased a 1998 Saturn from these guys august 1, 2013. I saw an ad they had on Craigs list, showed a nice gold Saturn 4 door in front of a nice house, looking good! Went to the lot, and looked at the car, similar car, but not the same one in the photo, without a doubt! Defects I noticed, and accepted, before the sale: -The car did NOT have ABS braking or side air bags as stated on the window placard. -the 2 stage paint had deteriorated on several smaller body panels and someone had just sprayed over those areas with just the base color without even sanding the ragged edges where the clear coat had peeled away, also this quick and dirty dress up simply flaked off in the first week I had the car, and continues to do so now., as it seems they did not even clean the areas to be painted. -Radio knobs missing and steering column shroud/ turn signal/ wiper switch assembly loose. Someone had that all apart to get to the connector that needs be accessed to reprogram the remote key fob, and did not put it together properly. -Headliner ripped by D.S. visor -Chip in windshield. Defects noticed after the sale: -Battery wrong size, too big, no hold down, secured by a 2x4 wooden block as wedge, with positive, (hot) terminal cap off, ready to short out against something in a hard turn or braking, cost $25 to remedy properly -Wiper blades shot and 2 different sizes, cost $16 to replace -All 4 valve stems so dry rotted that if you pressed on one sideways, air would start to come out, cost $40 to repair, $10 X 4. -Car was sold to me without a smog test, contrary to verbal assurance it had been tested, registration was never delivered to me, only a copy by email, and the license tags were never obtained by these guys, it cost me $20 more over the $170 that I paid at the time of sale for DMV fees, 3 trips to the DMV, 3 trips to 3 different police departments, 6 phone calls and 3 emails to Best Price, and easily 8-10 hours of my time and countless amounts of aggravation to get the car properly tagged and registered. -Ritchie never refunded me the $20 for DMV as he said he would. -$100 in "administrative fees" were tacked onto the very confusing bill of sale/ invoice form, and a negotiated $75 price break seems to have vanished. Overall pros: -Car basically clean -Major systems seem aok -Relatively decent price, $1900 (cash) taxes, tags, and fees up it to about $2400 -1 owner lease trade in or repossession with carfax history /175,000 miles Overall cons: -Questionable business practices/ after sale support. -Lack of basic safety inspection allowing a serious accident to potentially develop as result. My conclusion/ opinion: you might get a good car here, and you might not, more due to luck of draw than anything they consciously do, other than get lucky at car auctions they attend regularly. I would not count on these guys, weather or not you think they seem nice. I definitely would NOT get their warranty, as my experience shows me once they have your money, forget it, and I think it would be a real nightmare to get them to correct any major engine or transmission issue, so be smart, keep your money and find your own mechanic if you have future trouble. These guys are horse traders like all the rest, about average, not great, not terrible, it's a shame, because if they were more diligent, they could build a solid customer base without cutting corners or trying for a quick buck. You would think business people would realize by now a few dollars spent up front, a properly handled problem resolved, kept promises, and integrity, are ultimately worth more than an extra $60-$70 dollars in their bank account! Even though this car suits our needs, and is basically ok, and still came in on budget, the multiple small things mentioned here added up to a large souring of the buying experience, somewhat defeating the reasoning for going to a dealership in the first place, which was to avoid all the scamming and misrepresentation we were encountering in the private sale market, and not to waste a lot of time. All the aggravation encountered through Best Price came at a terrible time as well due to serious family health issues we are grappling with, so often these things affect spheres not directly related to the transaction at hand. You think someone who signs off on their message machine by saying "have a blessed day" would be conscious of that. read more

I lost my car to a total loss & I needed a car ASAP to get back to work. I purchased a car a year ago. 3days after I made purchase, the check engine light came on. I brought it back to get it fixed. They took 3 days to figure out the problem and told me its not covered by the warranty. They told me it will cost around $2000 out pocket to fix it. I said f**k it and brought it to AAmco paid $300 got everything fixed. I found out later that pretty much everything underneath the car was rusted (water damage)so I had to replace the whole break system which the warranty didn't cover... luckily I was able to sell it for half the purchase price and bought a brand new car.
