I hired Don to pour a concrete patio, run a gas line for a fire pit and also run electrical for a hot tub. Don assured me he could do it all. Horrible experience from start to finish. The concrete was so bad I had him tear it out. The electrical was done so poorly I had to hire an electrician to fix all the problems. He ran the gas line.....but buried the line with out testing for leaks so I've had to have that redone. The company I hired to redo the gas line found numerous leaks and had to dig all the line up and start over. Just horrible work. Luckily I did not pay him the full amount as the job was never completed but I'm out several thousand dollars and tons of my time. Do NOT use this company for anything. read more

Don literally stood us up twice in 2 days. No kidding, I'm not making this up. Cliff notes version: We had Don over to give us an estimate on some complex landscaping. He spent about 2 minutes and wrote up a $30,000 estimate. We also asked about planting some shrubs as an easy, quick $300 job while we made the decision to spend the big money on the main project. Don agreed to have the work done at a certain day and time. We took the day off and confirmed the appointment the night before. On the morning of, his "people" did not show up. We called him an hour past the time, and he told us his people called in sick. He never called us. We had to call him. We set up a new appointment for the following afternoon. We confirmed with Don about an hour before as we left early from a funeral to meet his people. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!! I texted Don, and he has never written us back. Good luck!!! read more

We hired Don's Landscaping a few weeks ago for a stamped concrete and an addition of stairs in our backyard. What a messy and irresponsible job he and his team did!! He never came to talk to us after we complained about the work to show him what we're not satisfied with. One of his team members tried to fix the foot print and some areas that we were not happy about. Despite telling him not to seal the stamped concrete until after we've inspected the work, he still sealed it and left without saying anything. Neither Don nor any of the team members showed up after that or called us. We also hired him to plant a tree in front of our yard and we had to monitor each step the team members did when we figured they were doing the job without even thinking through. Please be aware: He will show a brochure to let you know he went to school to learn how to do stamped concrete. He will tell you that he is very busy and have satisfied customers all over. He'll try to convince you to do other areas of the yard. Issues that we experienced: - The concrete is rough and raw on some areas - The lines on the stamped concrete overlap on many of the rectangular and square shapes - One area had boots mark, some other areas had unfilled holes, and blobs of concrete that one team member sanded after we complained to him - The concrete slurry was dumped to our backyard soil, front yard landscaping, and on the side of the street (our neighbors started complaining about it) - One of the steps is not straight and the edges are patched instead of a straight line Hopefully no one has to go through what we went through with Don's Landscaping. Well I had almost an identical experience as VM...unfortunately I did not see the review until it was too late. I caught them cutting so many corners and had to correct them and make them do things over. It came time to pour the concrete and the nightmare began. They did not tape off the area after they stamped and just left for the day. Low and behold we had a package delivered and they walked on the concrete. This is the contractors fault for not protecting their work. After looking closer at the stamping it was full of horrible, sloppy errors. I made then tear it out and re-do the whole thing. However the 2nd time was even worse. I fired him from the job after that. There are many other problems too long to describe. Needless to say I have began the process of serving him for small claims court. read more

Don's team did a great job landscaping our backyard. We had a medium sized backyard with a small covered patio (concrete floor) and rest was grass, as the before pictures show. Don's team extended the patio floor into a larger concrete surface, created a border with plants and gravel, built a wall with precast concrete blocks down one side of the yard, hooked up string lights, basically transforming the space completely. We did have a freak shower the very night they laid the concrete and the stamped and colored border, as a result of which we have a red concrete addition instead of a gray one with a red stamped border as originally intended. But Don and his team tried their best to make up for it, and we are not unhappy with how it turned out. Don also did some work on our front yard, I wanted to build concrete steps alongside our garage but he advised against it (possible liability risk), so we ended up getting an extension to our driveway instead. One other thing that helped us select him was how he would itemize everything, so we knew how much we were paying for each step, and we could adjust the work based on what we could afford. I found his services affordable and his people were also very nice, especially Manny, who really went above and beyond for us. Overall, we are quite pleased with the work, and we would definitely consider him again when we decide to upgrade our front yard. read more

I called Don to schedule for an estimate to install the pavers around the back yard of my house , he came and measured the areas and promise to give me a quote the next day but until I called which is after days later , then he sent me the quote for concrete stamps which I told him I prefer the paver instead, at the first appointment . Obviously , he didn't care what the customer like that he tried to give me the quote for stamps concrete anyway . I checked his license status that showed so many violations ( over 10 violations ), lucky that I checked , my recommendation is to make sure to check every constructor license before hired them to stay away headaches beside cut corners .. read more

This was the lowest quote around for a reason. We got RV parking and two custom metal framed gates put in, and we should have probably just attempted it ourselves to get better quality of work. Communication was an issue throughout the entire process, they never would tell us when they were coming to work and I had to call many times to make sure they were coming back to complete the work. Their behavior was unprofessional, constantly arguing and belittling us as if we did not know anything about what we were asking for. Our yard and house were left looking worse than before we had them do any work for us. They wanted to pour concrete during the weeks it was raining and there was water pooled on the ground in the thick mud. They came to the house one day to argue with me, trying to get me to let them pour the concrete even with the rain. When I told them no they started literally throwing their metal tools and supplies from the side yard into our front yard, tearing up our newly seeded grass and clover. The ground surface was never properly prepped and leveled. When they poured the concrete, they left piles of it in out front yard where the newly seeded grass and clover cannot grow through now. The edges of our concrete are messy, and they splashed conrete on our house, fence, and retaining wall. They left screws, nails, and garbage all over our property that we have to go through and pick up so that they dont puncture tires, feet, or paws. Our concrete is very thin, and not even a few days in large cracks started showing up. They "fixed" one of the cracks multiple times but it just kept coming back, but now there is an ugly smear of darker concrete along with the crack. The other cracks were never acknowledged by them despite me pointing them out. The gates look awful. They weren't crafted to fit the area, instead they cut bare metal brackets and just screwed them together. Even then they were not the right size. The gate doors push against each other and are not level, so you have to close the doors simultaneoulsy or else the gate just overlaps and will not close. When we brought this up they added tensioners to warp and bend the gate to force it to fit. They spray painted the already rusting metal black after installing it and got black spray paint on our stucco as well. The cracked many of the wood panels when they installed them, and multiple panels have already fallen out. The workers screwed a couple back in with mismatched screws and hid a small panel between the concrete and our fence rather than replace it. They welded the slide bolt latch on the side of the gate that opens, so whether it is locked or not when the wind blows it just slides out and opens. When we removed the tensioners that warp the gate to force it to fit, the latch doesnt even line up, it is about 2 inches off in height. Each time they came to "fix" the issues we brought up with the gates, they just added more holes and screws into everything and the quality of the gate just kept getting worse. We ended up telling them to just stop and leave so we could fix it ourselves. They said they would at least drill the holes for the drop rods on the gates, but never showed up again because I had already given them their last check. I'm not surprised based on their prior behavior. They quoted us at a lower cost than any other quotes we got, but then went on to tell us they quoted us lower than they should have on our signed contract for the work. We were told that what they had quoted us for the gates did not even cover materials. When had been clear about what we wanted when we asked for the quote, even supplying pictures and showing our neighbors fence as an example. Despite giving us shoddy work on the concrete and the gates, they wanted us to pay more than our quote on the incomplete work. I told them that I would pay the quoted amount despite not being satisfied with any of their work and having them leave with the job incomplete, but I would not be paying any more than what was quoted. There's absolutely no reason to recommend this company to anyone. Please learn from our mistake and use someone else to get quality work even if it is at a higher price. We will likely have to redo all of this work as well as fix the issues they caused with other parts of our house and yard. read more

I have the bad experience with Don's professional landscaping. They replaced the lawn and sprinkler and the new lawn the brought has a lot of yellow color, not a green which looks the used one, not a new lawn and I disappointed the lawn work. And sprinkler work has a lot of water leak when I turn on sprinkler and some of sprinkler has been reduced coverage and water flow is not strong, so I disassemble some of sprinkler and found some soil and small rocks inside sprinklers. I have same experience with Don Landscaping what V M from Benicia has shared. He has done very poor concrete job - water does not drain properly, makes puddle and takes hours to drain, uneven concrete and very poor color distribution. I have asked his people to first fix the color before polishing, but they did not listen and went ahead with polish which made the concrete look worse than before as they also did not polish it correctly. They did not place rain pipe or french drain at the bottom of the retaining wall. No covering behind the retaining wall and dirt behind the retaining wall can pass through the blocks. Blocks on the stairs (part of the retaining wall ) are not aligned and stairs are deeper on one side. When we confronted him he agreed that his people do not know how to do the stairs. To fix the unaligned blocks on the stairs his people start putting concrete over it. I asked him to talk to us before continuing and he never showed up after telling us that yes he will come in the evening. He won't listen to you and will do whatever he wants to do. He won't return your phone call and give you updates. Lies lies and lies he will tell you. And, yes he is licensed and his license is still active despite filling a complaint. read more
