California mufflers is the place to have your vehicle taken to when you need service. I highly recommend this place. I originally had my truck at another mechanic place and i felt like they were trying to scam me and had my truck for two days. Then i had to call for updates and they wanted to diagnose it charging 100 dollars an hour to still look into what was wrong with the truck. At this time i had my truck towed to California motors as the other place seemed like scammers. My boy Munchies recommended recommended me to Juan. Great customer service and great work. I Brought in my Jeep cherokee sport 2017 to the shop and it was fixed In a day. The mechanics here know what they are doing and they charge reasonable prices. They are very honest and work fast with quality work. My truck was stalling out and wouldn't turn on at times. Once I brought it to this place they found the issue and fixed it right away. They communicated with me through the whole process and gave me updates. I did not have to call and check to see if it was ready. And informed me what I needed to fix. I highly recommend California Muffler & Brakes , Juan Mena is very attentive and will do whatever it takes to please the customer. This place provides quality work for a reasonable price. It is very hard to find honest mechanic shops. Before having my breaks and axle replaced I had gone to my Toyota dealership. They charged me 109.00 to tell me what was wrong then they were charging me a crazy amount to replace a front axle only no breaks. I went to California Mufflers and for a lot less I got my axle replaced with new break pads. The job was done in a reasonable time with the owner notifying me of the progress on the work. The rest of the mechanics are also just as great. Very responsible and attentive ! I will keep bringing my vehicles here from here on forward. Just wish I had found this place hundreds of dollars before. read more

OK... I've visited this place 5 times in the last 5 years. In a nutshell: They do excellent work on brakes and mufflers. Do not expect good results with anything else. My story: I had my brake work done on various cars I have owned and never had a problem with the results. I had a one muffler replaced and didn't have a problem. Recently, I also had them do a bunch of other things on my 03 Acura TL like replacement of all belts (incl timing), water pump, and front struts with new mounts. A month later, everything works fine except for a bad clunky noise from the front right suspension over bumps. I took my car to them and they could not find the problem but wanted to replace engine mounts. I noticed my car was on a joy ride and with 25% less gas.... The problem was that they did not install the strut mounts correctly causing them to deteriorate quickly. I fixed it myself- which involves the same work as replacing them to begin with. I will only go back to them for muffler work since I do my own brakes now. The 'mechanics' doing the work ARE NOT certified to work other than muffler and brakes. I am lucky they managed the timing and water pump OK! read more

I'm a big do-it-yourselfer but some jobs are just easier to have a shop do. Like when my fuel tank developed a crack and needed to be replaced. Or when my A/C compressor locked up on my 20 year old car. They had to replace all the components. It blows ice cold again. They stand by their work. They are honest and trustworthy. And they're all very friendly. Try to get in early if you can because they get very busy. read more

After further review, I dont believe that this two places are independent. They share employees and I was told numerous times that they were affiliated. After this complaint, I finally heard back from the Ogden location. After 4 attempts, he finally replied denying the affiliation. Unfortunately, even after the employee, that was at the Ogden location, admitted to damaging the vital suspension part, and after calling me a liar, saying that the part was already cut, which it clearly was not, nobody felt the need to refund the amount I paid to have my exhaust ruined, and to have my suspension compromised. I now have to spend more money to repair the damages caused by my poor judgement to use these shops. read more
