In April, Alex from California Paver Pros stopped by with information in case we might like any work done to our yard. I mentioned my driveway was forty years old this year and just continues to break apart with several long cracks all over. He shared Daniel could meet with me two days later to give me an estimate. When Daniel arrived I was pretty upset since I had just learned I would have to put my dog of 12 years down that evening. He was patient and kind and made my day considerably different with his empathy. I knew ball park what it would cost since friends and family had recently replaced driveways and the prices he quoted were very competitive. He showed me multiple lines of pavers to gibe me an estimate of the cost. I was planning on leaving for two weeks to see my son graduate college and to attend a wedding and they had the time to come after I left and finish before I got back. Daniel did a great job staying in touch and keeping me up to date with their progress with pictures and texts. After they dug up the previous driveway they discovered that there was a drainage system that cracked and most likely why my cement kept breaking apart. The constant rains were depositing water under the driveway and splitting it apart. He offered two options to fix and I asked his opinion and chose that one to add a new drainage system. He had me sign a change order electronically via email. When I returned from my trip I was delighted with the results! I chose the less expensive pavers to save money but feel they are great looking and well worth the savings. Daniel suggested using a darker stone as a border and I love the way it looks. My neighbors said they were very professional and on top of the project and finished quickly and they appreciated that. Within one or two days all the equipment and extra materials were removed from my property. California Paver Pros did a fantastic job on our back yard! We wanted pavers and artificial turf, including a raised patio area with pavers and lighting. First, we worked with Daniel, the sales manager, to finalize the design, help us pick out and then order the materials, and serve as project manager. We went through multiple iterations of designs with updated illustrations and quotes. Daniel helped us make decisions on the design to ultimately get us to a design we loved and within our budget. Daniel then introduced us to Danny who led the team who did all the work. We went through the fine details of the design including drainage, location and routing of wiring for lights, etc. Danny coordinated each day's work with the team and worked on some of the layout and detailed work himself. I believe he said he had 14 years experience and it showed. Danny often called upon me to come answer questions and review work throughout, which I greatly appreciated. I watched the team work throughout the project. They are hardworking, efficient, and professional. I was very impressed by what they did and how they did it. Bottom line up front: We are EXCEPTIONALLY happy with our new yard and California Paver Pros in Pleasanton, CA! I started working with California Paver Pros to re-design and remodel the hardscape of our 30 year old deteriorating backyard. Working with Anthony and Daniel on initial ideas and costs was straightforward. After a 2nd meeting, the two of them took additional measurements and began working on a conceptual drawing (at no cost to me, at this point) -- something no other contractor ever even offered to do. They patiently worked with me through several modifications and re-worked quotes for both design and material changes -- again without financial or contractual agreement in hand. They made lots of suggestions to improve design esthetic and reduce material costs. THIS EXTRA EFFORT on Anthony and Daniel's part is why California Paver Pros earned my business. Gold star #1. They also provided addresses for a few nearby projects where I could see their completed work in some front yards. Once I was happy with the design and price, they drafted a detailed contract and provided it for electronic signature. I then plunked down a CC deposit with the home office and requested the project be held for about 5-6 weeks until after the new year for a variety of personal reasons. They didn't bat an eye at this request and happily scheduled a start date around MY schedule! Gold star #2. In the meantime, communication was great as Anthony would reach out regarding little details and change order the contract with the details (at no further cost to me). Anthony also arranged for 811 to come check for gas lines etc. The start date was pushed just a few days due to California's crazy storms at the beginning of 2023 but they communicated with me and all is good. Once the project was underway Hugo (project manager) and Danny (the most awesome site manager) came with a crew and got right to work. And let me tell you Danny and his crew WORK HARD. Demo started and materials were delivered the same day (probably a little early, cause the weather pushed their start back by several days). No problems. Danny had a crew of 3-5 here from 8am-5pm every day and asked if they could also work weekends. No problem for me. This was a decent sized project with about 1000 sq.ft. of pavers and nearly 150' of retaining wall, the sooner it was done the better. At the end of every day (no kidding) the crew would collect their tools, tidy up, close my backyard, sweep my front walkway and driveway if needed, all so we could get cars in the garage, etc. This is a crew that cares about good work and appearances. Gold star #3. 3 weeks (21 days) start to finish the project was completed. When it came to building the wall every block was individually inspected for damage and checked for true before being installed. Danny even went through the trouble of leveling the retaining walls between two distinct sections of the yard so that when viewed from inside the house the walls were level to one another. The paver patio was just as precise with consideration for proper drainage and straight lines when viewed from various angles. Hugo came by the project numerous times to inspect work for proper slope, drainage and progress. Gold star #4 Throughout the project, any complication or question Danny encountered, he communicated with me directly or through Hugo and always ended the conversation with "no problem, I'll take care of it." I was never asked (by anyone) for a change order or additional money due to an unexpected issue. Not once. Gold star #5 Once the project was completed we were (are) simply delighted. Our yard is transformed and we love it. When the first rains came I found an area on the patio that collected some water (puddled). I alerted Danny and Hugo who immediately responded "no problem, we'll take care of it" and this was after final payment has been made. They soon returned and indeed "took care of it." In the beginning we were happy. Anthony copied my drawing. Has turf samples. Quoted a lower price for a similar job by another company. Project manager came out and marked off something different than what was in the plan. Ended up having to order more stepping stones. Company charged us half as it was their error in ordering. Then the project was near completition and were told there was no top ground cover for the plants that I provided. That also was an error on their part. Now it's 2 months later and the water is not connected to half the plants. They have not returned my call related to my recent concern. Very unprofessional. I took off work to arrange time to meet for a bid. I got a text less then two hours before Brandon was due to arrive simply informing me he couldn't make it. No apology. He just offered to come the next day (while I was working). I responded that I was not available until later in the day due to my work and got no response at all. Absolutely terrible follow through and communication. I got a quote early in the year after the CA rainstorm, it took months but I finally got funding from FEMA to help. I came back to CA Paver Pros and Brandon came out to revisit my house and verify details and give me an updated quote. He was super nice, said he'd get back to me in 1-2 days and I was excited to move forward as he and I saw very eye to eye on how this job should be done. A week goes by no message, I then message him 2-3 times over the span of a few weeks and get no response. I message in yelp and I'm told he'll reach out soon and if he doesn't to call in. I hear nothing, I call in and leave a VM and no one calls me back. I've moved on to another contractor and I feel I'm in way better hands. read more

These guys are great! I got quotes from a handful of different places and there's was the best price. They were also the most professional and were able to quickly draft up a scaled drawing for our HOA board. I really enjoyed working with Brandon who came out to our house with samples of turf and picture books of rock and pavers. He measured our lot and was able to very quickly give us a detailed price quote. Once we got HOA approval the team was out to our house the very next day and finished our entire project in a day and a half (half the time we thought it would take). We needed major work done in our backyard asap before my sister's wedding, so I shopped around and finally found California Paver Pros. They gave me a quote, which was the best price compared to the others. Joel was our consultant. He was quick at responding to my emails/texts. He answered all of my questions and was super friendly. The way a company treats a prospective new client speaks volumes. I guess I should be lucky that I found out now before I actually hired them. A very nice gentleman came to give me an estimate on my house. I got good vibes and was hopeful that maybe I had finally found a landscaper that would work for us (we have talked to more than a dozen companies at this point, one of which tried to scam us, so needless to say it's been a nightmare). At the end of the appointment, he told me he'd get back to me in about 24 hours with my quote. Cut to two weeks later, I still don't have a quote, despite emailing him twice. Then I tried calling their main office and got the voicemail twice with no call back. Personally, I think it's extremely unprofessional to have a business where no one answers the phone during business hours. Even if they get back to me now I will not be hiring them. We spent almost 100,000.00 on our back yard with California Paver Pro. Pavers, retaining wall, fire pit, concrete driveway, and a 55'X18' insulated Pergola. Well our Pergola leaked the first rain. The water ran into 2 of the 3 ceiling fans. They did come out and replaced one and resealed the seams. Still leaked, we reached out to them again and again they came out a few times and resealed it, gave us the run around on how there only guy that works on them has COVID. After the COVID excuse ran out they said they couldn't get ahold of the guy. So here we are today almost 4 years later still leaking, any little bit of water that hits the roof it leaks between the gutter and Pergola. Not it's starting to stain my colored concrete. Yeah it turned out beautiful but is it worth it at the end? Faded colored stamped concrete, leaking Pergola, now can't get anyone to call me back! I don't usually complain but I'm not letting this go, contracting board, small claims, getting ready for the next step but would rather have it fixed and move on!
