I placed an order for Denamarin on WalMart's website. I missed the fine print noting the order would take 2 weeks to fill by California Pet Phcy. When I received the item, it is CHEWABLE. I already have chewable, my dog refuses them. When I contacted CA Pet Phcy to return, they informed me they will charge a 20% handling fee, which I also missed in WM's description of CA Pet Phcy, and they do not pay return shipping. The best company ever! California Pet Pharmacy may have literally saved our grandpup's life. We will forever buy any pet medications from CA Pet Pharmacy in Hayward, CA. (for those who need excellent service for their pet meds (877) 554-4797) Our sweet grandpup was diagnosed with bladder cancer about 2 weeks ago. It's been heartbreaking watching her deal with the growing tumor that is beginning to block her urine passageway. It must be terribly annoying and painful. About two (2) weeks ago, upon diagnosis, her vet prescribed Meloxidyl to alleviate the pain and to help shrink the tumor so she can function more properly. Our daughter ordered the Meloxidyl immediately from Covetrus Pharmacy who either did not deliver the medication or it got stolen after delivery. Our daughter called Covetrus who said they would investigate the missing medication and it would take 3-5 days! What the ?? They should have sent a replacement, but no, they did nothing to help. We urgently called both our grandpup's vet and her new vet oncologist's office to help us get the Meloxidyl as soon as humanly possible. They all continued to drop the ball and did nothing to help us. Luckily for us, we had made the order with California Pet Pharmacy on Sunday so we called them early the next day, on Monday. I spoke with Julisa and received the highest possible customer service. Julisa explained that the vet needed to call in or fax in the prescription, but when I shared with her that the vet was not being helpful, Julisa went way above and beyond her call of duty and she called our vet to get the prescription immediately. Then, Julisa of CA Pet Pharmacy called me back to let me know that the Meloxidyl was on its way, overnighted to my daughter's house so she could give her pup the urgently needed medication. The GREAT news is that the Meloxidyl was received first thing on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) morning and now our grandpup has a fighting chance to possibly help the tumor shrink and give her some pain relief! Horrible!!!!!! Over charges and the list goes on!! I mailed our vet's prescription for Phenobarbitol 64.5 mg seizure medication our dog, Oliver to California Pet Pharmacy on 9/10/24. I requested 2nd day delivery as Oliver was running low. I got shipment notification on 9/12 and got tracking notification that the meds were delivered to our block tower mailbox on 9/14. On 9/17 when I unlocked our mailbox, the package wasn't there. I called the Hayward office California Pet Meds and they said they couldn't do anything until the post office got back to them on a claim they'd be filing. They said they would call me in 24-72 hours. I have since obtained RING neighborhood video showing our tower being broken into ON 9/17 and forwarded that to Hayward office as well as article about Natomas mail theft. We have had 2 packages stolen in past month. I since got a new prescription from our vet and was able to fill the prescription at Natomas Pharmacy for 42 tablets at $16.00. Your Manager, Joe called me this afternoon (Sept 23) and was extremely rude. I asked for my money back and he said he couldn't. I am a senior citizen on a pension. My husband has dementia. This would have been a 5 star review if the company had a competent finance department and competent software programmers for their e-commerce site! They overcharge sales tax on every order! Watch your invoices! Company has competitive prices and helpful sales associates, however, they continue to charge the sales tax rate based on their own zip code versus the appropriate zip code tax rate where the product is shipped. Their sales tax rate is 10% which results in overcharges for a sales tax rate of 7.25%. Since medications are so expensive, you end up paying a lot more for your pet's prescriptions (i.e. $131.97 plus Sales Tax: $14.19 = Total: $146.16 The correct tax would be $9.57 an overcharge of $5.34!) I can understand how this establishment has earned so many negative reviews. Had I seen the reviews, I never would have ordered from them. It would have saved a lot of wasted time and frustration. I do not trust California Pet Pharmacy moving forward. After researching on the web and doing cost comparisons, I ordered insulin for my cat on the CPP webset. At the time I ordered, it was advertised that there was "free shipping for orders over $100." When I ordered the item, I saw no mention of any additional charges. On the order confirmation, there was no mention of additional charges for delivery. Days after my order was confirmed, I received a voicemail from CPP stating that there would be an additional delivery charge because the insulin had to be special delivered. I called back and left a voicemail asking to speak with the manager. When I eventually spoke with the manager, almost a month later, I told her that I did not get any notice of additional charges when originally making the purchase. I told her that I understood that there would be additional costs of delivery, but that they should have warned me of the additional costs and that I would appreciate it if she could provide any discount on the purchase to help make things right. The only reason I chose them in the first place was because they advertised the lower cost and free shipping. The manager, Jennifer, was completely rude and refused to make any concessions, accusing me of being to blame. Again, there was NOTHING on the order form that mentioned anything about additional charges (I've added a picture of the relevant portion of the form for you to see). When I went back on the website, they had conspicuously added a large notice regarding delivery charges on the product. Three times they have declared that my vet has not contacted them when the vet already has, significantly delaying my order. Because of their shipping lies, I did not receive my dog seizure medicine in time due to controlled medication laws and my dog had a seizure which put her in jeopardy of her life. It did not arrive until the following Monday. It should have arrived by Friday, latest. I called them on Wednesday to let them know that they did not process the shipping correctly (based on the tracking and ETA) and they agreed and said maybe it would arrive on Friday, if not they could refund my shipping amount. When I contacted them about it again to get the refund, they would not refund the expedited shipping amount! Things go wrong, I understand that but it's how you deal with it once it goes wrong. I was so excited when I found this source for DMSO. I ordered a gallon of DMSO for over a hundred dollars. I did not see that there was an additional discount available, so I placed a second order with the discount, figuring what a deal. Emailed them asking whether they could applied to my first order as well since I had simply overlooked the discount. Got the strangest call back telling me they could apply the discount to my first order but had to put my orders together and charge me $50 for shipping. I was puzzled, their website clearly stated free shipping for orders over $100. She acted like I was trying to be sneaky and avid shipping, very bizarre. I just said cancel one order, since I was irritated by their illogical statements. Then, item arrived and for whatever reason, it was jammed in my mailbox. I took it out and it was frozen. Literally the biggest joke of a company ever. They pretend to care about pets and their medications but it's a complete scam. I found CPP because my cat was on a new med not yet available on Chewy. My first order with them was processed fast, but then got lost during shipping. Can't 100% blame them of course as they partner with USPS, but someone dropped the ball and CPP had a "policy" that they can't reship meds (even when there's literally no tracking / shipping info). Complete crap as my pet needs the meds for health reasons. Anyway, meds showed up two weeks later. Stupidly I opted to give then another chance, but I was stuck with minimal options as my cat's meds were still not on Chewy. Had two subsequent orders with no issues. Yay - basic customer expectations met. Now comes the most recent order... I had mailed in a paper script for the medication as I knew there were no more refills. When I called to refill, they told me they didn't have the paper script. I had mailed it in five weeks ago. When I explained this, they took a day to go search in the mail room and called me back to let me know they had my envelope and an invoice for me but no script. They told me I didn't mail in the script, which I definitely did. Really? Did you lose it? Is one of your employees stealing pet med scripts? Finally a manager called me 21 hours after an employee promised they would give me a call back with an update. While waiting for this call that was almost a full day late, I called my vet to write another script for me because I had lost faith in CPP and was happy to discover Chewy also now carries my cat's med, so i can now get this med with the other meds I get from Chewy each month with literally no issues. Flash forward, the manager just called me back to let me know they still didn't have the script but could (somehow?) process the order. I told them I no longer needed it and to reverse the charge on my card. I was told there would be a $10 fee to reverse this. Really?! A $10 fee for their incompetence?? My credit card company will get this reversed but STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Prices are literally the same as Chewy but with illegal fees and terrible customer service and even worse organization. My cat is up coughing like crazy, we have taken him to the ER vet and our regular vet this weekend, no one can diagnose him, and the poor thing has been pricked and probed at so much... crazy that they do all of these tests to still not have any answers. So in an effort to find some comfort for him, I googled respiratory asthma assistance and it brought me to CPP. I just moved to California from Florida, we have been here barely a month. Have not been able to change our address on all of our cards etc... I digress, so I put in an order for this Lung Gold product. I was actually going to change my shipping from 2-4 biz days to 1 day, which would add $29.99 to my total, but that's how desperate we are to get our baby some relief from these coughing spells.
