Best vet we've been to by a mile (and we've had dogs for decades, with lots of vets.) Everyone is super friendly and nice. It's fairly easy to get an appointment. And best of all, they don't force you to do a million unnecessary and expensive things. They understand what our dog needs, what's realistic given his age, and what will give him the best outcome. Previous vets ignored what we told them, and instead demanded a million exams and tests that aways cost a ton. Good Samaritan listens to you, and if they can help your pet without charging you an arm and a leg, they do so without hesitation. A+ all the way around. read more

Our previous experience with Good Samaritan were when we had our previous two labmuttmixes, Kona and Chuka. Dr. Doe, Dr. Ekloff and a couple of other vets whose names I no longer remember, took care of our "kids". After they both passed, we decided not to have any more dogs as we were heading toward retirement and more travel. Then in late 2023, Mochi, a 3-year-old purebred Shiba Inu needed a temporary home. We knew her and her humans and brought her home to stay with us for a couple of weeks. When we realized that she was going to need a new forever home, we had to decide whether to give her up to another family or keep her for ourselves. Sentimentality once again beat out common sense. So, we changed her name, re-registered her existing chip, bought pet insurance and looked into a new vet. In order to do our due diligence, we checked yelp ratings and then called around. Many offices, including Good Samaritan, were crushed by volume during the COVID-19 epidemic and were not accepting new patients. A computer check showed that we were still listed in their computers even though at least 15 years had passed. Because of the past patient relationship, Mochi was accepted as a patient. We managed to make a wellness check appointment with Dr. Doe, the owner, to establish baselines. The following month, we received a letter from Dr. Doe stating that he was retiring. Since then, we've been to the office a few times, for vaccine's, a nail trim and once when she had something sticking out of her b*tt. The staff and especially one vet tech were kind and helpful to us and our fur baby. On the last visit, we met another Vet who I had a great conversation with regarding food, diet and weight control. I'm sorry that I forgot her name, but she really spoke with enthusiasm and authority without trying to sell anything offered at the office. I knew that if she were the attending vet, we would be in good shape. We take very good care of our Princess. At the vet's suggestion, we took her off of Science Diet but Lamb and Rice as her main diet and switched to "fresh foods" from Ollie. She still gets a few bits of kibble sprinkled with her food and it's also used as a training tool. This past Monday, while on her evening walk, I noticed that her ear looked a little off. When we got home, I saw that most of the fur behind her right ear was gone as well 1/2 the fur from her left ear. There wasn't much we could do. We did have some hot spot spray and used it, but it didn't seem to make much difference. On Tuesday morning, we call Good Samaritan to schedule an appointment to have Mochi checked. We were told that they were booked up and the earliest available appointment was on July 31. Not 24 hours later, but 24 DAYS later. We were also told that we could be added to the waitlist should any appointments be cancelled and if we were really concerned, to take Mochi to an Emergency Veterinarian Hospital or try another vet. It leads to me wonder if day to day health is taking a backseat to scheduled wellness visits and vaccinations. One thing for sure, I see no reason to return to Good Samaritan. read more

I have been a loyal client of Good Samaritan Veterinary Hospital for over 8 years, trusting them with the care of my pets and spending tens of thousands of dollars over that time. Unfortunately, my experience with them in my cat's final days was devastating and showed a complete lack of compassion. As my senior cat's health rapidly declined, I was forced to wait a week for an appointment because they were short-staffed -- a common issue, as many of their vets are frequently on vacation. When my appointment finally arrived, they called to ask if I could come later. Through tears, I explained that my cat was deteriorating and asked if I could come earlier, just after their lunch break ended at 2:00 PM. I arrived at 2:08 PM -- just 8 minutes after their lunch closure -- only to be told I was "too late" to be seen because the doctor was now in surgery even though my original appointment was at 2:30 after waiting a week to get in. Despite pleading with them, explaining the urgency, and being only a few minutes late due to unavoidable traffic, they refused to help. They forced me to leave while I was sobbing, with my dying cat in her crate, offering the next available appointment at 5:30 PM -- hours later -- with no sense of urgency or compassion. On top of that, they refused to refill my cat's antibiotics for an ongoing infection unless she was seen again -- even though they made me wait an entire week for an appointment. As a result, her condition worsened unnecessarily after running out of antibiotics and her infection spreading, she spent her final days in pain. It was clear that their priority was not patient care, but money. The surgery the doctor was occupied with was likely more profitable than helping a long-standing client in crisis. After years of loyalty, they turned me away at the moment I needed them most. Good Samaritan Veterinary Hospital broke my heart and failed my cat. I would never recommend trusting them with your beloved pet's life. I will be switching vets and never bringing my other pets there again. read more

I have mostly good interactions with Good Samaritan. They are a little pricey as some have noted, and aren't always the best at keeping to a schedule. I have even encountered three employees that were rude, (two of them no longer work here). The vast majority of folks who work here are nice, caring, and considerate. They take care of my dog, and she means the world to me. As long as they don't mess that up I'll keep going back. Yes... they make small mistakes sometimes, but of all the places I've been they are the best so far. I would love it if they never messed up, but they are only human. If you dont mind waiting in your car for an extra 40 minutes, or paying 25-200% more, and want quality care this is the place for you. It is a trade off. I get it and that is why I will continue to bring my precious pup here for the foreseeable future. read more

They missed a ringworm diagnosis for my cats and then couldn't see us for over a month when their condition did not improve. $1,000 in vet bills from urgent care visits later, and after several unreturned phone calls begging for a medication change, Good Samaritan corrects the medication for my cats (first urgent care nearly killed one of my cats by prescribing a medication that causes serious blood disorders in cats). Medication requires check ins every 3 weeks to test whether ringworm is gone. Their first appointment is more than 6 weeks out with zero flexibility. Why prescribe medication that requires check ins on a certain schedule if you can't see my pets on that schedule? They used to be wonderful but I am very disappointed in the service levels now. read more

5 stars for the staff but If you have a senior dog DO NOT SEE dr.bridgeforth. Took my boy for a check up, went great. She prescribed a new med for his arthritis. After 10 days my dog lost the use of his back legs simultaneously. I took him in and Bridgeforth said to put him down. Despite me repeating and asking if it was the meds, she said no. I asked if that was normal she said yes. My dog was completely fine otherwise. Thank God I did my own research and stopped the meds. After 2 days he started to regain the use of his legs. I only hope this helps anyone else with a senior dog. Maybe its time for her to retire. read more

When I went there to check out my cat's eye, which has a bunch of discharge. And it was obvious that she had eye problems when I was at the vet. The vet interrupted me a bunch of times, cutting me off and dismissing my concerns when I was very polite about my cat's condition. Took my cat there during the holidays this past year. My cat was limping a bit I wanted to make sure my bud was ok. The trip cost me $900. First the doc x-rayed him and then said to be sure let's sent it out to an expert to comment on the x-ray. That was 600. They said minor arthritis... totally unnecessary to sent it to an " expert radiologist ". Then the doc said let's vaccinate the little boy and I wasn't sure, so I said yes. Stupid me. Called looking for an estimate to neuter my dog named Jeff. When I talked to the office clerk they said it would cost 89~ for an assessment to get an actual quote. When I asked what the range usually is for the service/quote they said they have no idea how much it could cost and the nurses usually handle that! How do you work the front office of a business and not know roughly the range of cost of one of your basic services. That is just a basic sales tactic to get you in the door, then up charge. Unprofessional, shady absolutely lacking transparency. I took my kitten here to get a follow up on his immunizations, I was here a month ago and he had an exam then. They wanted to do another exam which I said no multiple times, including to the vet tech and he obliged. After getting my kitten back they wanted to charge me $100 for an exam. What exam?! The exam I stated I didn't want? She then proceeded to argue with my spouse and I about their policy, I stated it needed to be transparent. As a pet owner I want to know what care is being done to my pet, NOT just you trying to upsell something. In the midst of this I called another vet clinic who is more than happy to take us in moving forward and stated that isn't standard within the veterinarian world to do another exam so quickly. I also stated that the cat wasn't held for a period of time & they said their process was 20 minutes to check for a reaction to a vaccine. They also stated that for them to charge when the cat wasn't even held for a reasonable period is a bad sign. Never coming back here, the Vet Mary had the audacity to say don't charge them for the exam we didn't want and to mark our account invalid. I recently had an appointment with Dr. Heather Kuhne, and I was deeply disappointed and frankly saddened. Dr. Kuhne was unprofessional, arrived late, failed to greet me or my cat, and even shutting the crate door in my cat's face while I was trying to show her a problem after she had asked about it, saying "I'll look at it later". It was clear she hadn't reviewed my pet's medical history, which is concerning. Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident. There are already complaints on Google and Yelp about Dr. Kuhne's conduct, which is damaging to the clinic's reputation. I've been a loyal customer for 22 years, I love this business and would hate to see it go downhill due to the attitudes of the Veterinarians here. I have recommended many friends and family, but I wouldn't want them to experience this treatment. On a positive note, the support staff (Front Desk and Vet Assistants) and manager Mike were fantastic. They were professional, attentive, and committed to addressing my concerns as well as committed to providing a great experience which I feel isn't displayed by Dr.Kuhne. However, the cleanliness and maintenance of the clinic have noticeably declined, which is unacceptable given the fees charged. I urge Good Samaritan Management to reconsider their Doctoral Staffing and stay on top of cleanliness and maintenance of the building to ensure safety and comfortability of clients. read more

When Dr. Eklof left Good Sam and the hospital was under new management I was concerned about taking my new puppy Ajax there. We had taken our previous two dogs to Good Sam for over 10 years and were very happy with the high standard of care. Our visits to the new vet, Dr. Dimov, have definitely settled our concerns. In our first visit, Dr. Dimov explained what tests and vaccines were best based on our environment and Ajax's activities, and let us decide what our wishes were. On our second visit, Ajax was coughing and wheezing. Dr. Dimov listened to our fears, and after examining him explained what the symptoms likely suggested, alleviating our concerns, and his recommended course of treatment. Dr. Dimov is very patient with both pet and owner and has shown a high level of knowledge in treating Ajax. read more

I needed a new vet since moving back in the area and as we all know, finding a doctor for ourselves are already hard enough. Add another layer that we are finding a doctor for our beloved pets; I'm even more nervous. After calling around and reading reviews for 5 other vets in the area, i landed on Good Samaritan. My first impression of Good Samaritan started with a phone call to schedule an appointment. Not only were they receptive to my needs, they were also clear with processes and procedures for new patients without me asking. Upon arriving, the staff members were very courteous and kind understanding the situation that my dog automatically knows where he is and hates the vet. They timed it so i can get in and out quickly. The appointment with the vet itself was straightforward and easy to understand. It was obvious the vet was very knowledgeable and respectful to me and my dog needs. She was quickly able to see the signs of a defensive dog but coached me on how to handle him while she took vitals since he was very responsive to me. She also gave me tips and guidance on his diet and did not try to oversell me on products or unnecessary procedures. In fact, my dog needed all his vaccination and highly advise me to get two today and the other two in 2 weeks because it will be hard on his body. I very much appreciate them and i am glad ive become a customer. And in the lobby while waiting, it looks like all their customers have been going to them for years. I highly recommend! read more

My cat Morris has gone here since 2019. He passed on this week, but I am forever grateful for all the things that Good Samaritan has done for him. Morris had hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, heart murmur, CKD, IBD, and even had an almost ingrown nail that GS treated. They kept him alive for 5 years more than we thought was possible and dealt patiently with his intense anxiety at the vet. He was once abandoned at one before rescue. When we went with him to the ER vet (last visit), he was around 16 yo. The ER vet was shocked at how well we'd taken care of him. Well, half the battle was that GS provided great care and transparency at each visit. We fought to the end but alas, Morris is at peace. Thank you, Dr. Doe, Dr. MacFarlene, Dr. Leeking, and all the kind folks that support the operations. They never gave up on Morris and I think he knew. He was treated well. I walked in 30 minutes before my kitten's follow up appointment and the front desk told me i was too early and the doctor is behind sched, she cannot check me in. I waited outside trying to play with my bored kitten. I noticed a lot of dogs came in after i was checked in and left before i was called. My turn came and still waiting for an hour before my kitten came out. I informed the lady in front that i have a dinner reservation that night and im just wondering what i was waiting for. "There were patients before u and you have to wait for your turn" is the reply i got. I disagree. There were only 2 owners before me then my kitten was inside for so long i see dogs in and out the door, the reason i stood up. When i told her i may have to cancel my dinner then, she just smiled and said "im sorry we just have to be fair with everybody". I work in a reputable healthcare organization and that statement just pushed me out the door. Everybody else is nice and accommodating but that one tall person with colored contacts is different. The dinner i look forward to was cancelled. My guests were disappointed that i wasnt able to attend my own birthday dinner because that person have to accommodate certain walk ins and tell me she's just being fair with everybody. I left the building after 2 1/2 hours after. No procedure was done, no shots, just a follow up check. read more

I took my dog here two times last year and did not have a positive experience at all. We will not be returning. She was a new client at the time and was due for her rabies vaccine, so we decided to book a wellness check as well as a vaccination appointment. This place came recommended to us by another dog owner who lived in our complex so we decided to check it out. My dog is a rescue from an animal shelter notorious for putting dogs on the euthanasia list, so we are not sure of her past but she gets nervous in certain situations including vet office visits. During the two visits we had here the vet Mary Leeking tried to put my dog on drugs saying she is too fearful and that she can't work with such a fearful dog. According to her, due to my dogs fear, she could not complete the full wellness exam including weight and body temp check (even though I offered to help). They charged the full exam fee anyway. I am not ok with needlessly drugging my dog with strong meds if it can be avoided so I tried to use Cbd chews on her for our second follow up visit. It didn't work and again I was scolded by the vet for not taking her orders and drugging my dog prior to the vet visit. I work in healthcare and am a strong believer in listening to the patient and working around patient needs, including the desire to avoid medication when possible. After two negative experiences at Good Samaritan, I decided to find a different vet in a nearby city which I am now very happy with. We have had two visits there so far, and although my dog is still fearful, not once was I told they can't work with her, nor was I told to drug her prior to vet visits like I was told at Good Sam. I recommend you stay far away from this place if you care about the health, safety, and wellbeing of your dog. I do not trust a vet that cannot be inconvenienced by a nervous pet. Medication is not always the solution. My advice to her is to retire or find another profession. read more

I brought my dog in for an exam and everything was fine until Dr. Leeking insisted on muzzling my dog when no other dogs were muzzled. Dr. Leeking seems unsure of being around large dogs as she often handles them with force. Dr. Leeking told me I'm free to go somewhere else and after that I left. I had been bringing my dog here for 11+ years and I will never return. First, let me be clear that I had positive interactions with Dr. Leeking and this practice for many years. This review is solely based off my last interaction with Dr. Kuhn, or Kim, or not really sure as she mumbled her name, only after I had to ask her to introduce herself. The visit was HORRIBLE from start to finish and there's way too much to list here, but here's a few highlights, or lowlights I should say: she didn't greet me or my dog, I was constantly cut off when trying to speak, her tone was short, rude and condescending, she questioned professional guidance I had been provided by her colleague regarding the diet my dog was on as well as medication she had been prescribed, she made me DRAG my scared dog over to where she was in the exam room rather than walking 3 steps over to my dog, I had to wait 45 minutes for a surgery quote to be produced, and the final straw was that the quote I was provided was nearly double (about $2000 more) than the quote I was provided just 8 months ago. I was stunned to say the least, so I asked the receptionist to explain the difference. I was first told it was because they had a price increase, then later told the original quote from 8 months ago was done incorrectly. She did offer to have the doctor come in and speak to me, but at that point I didn't want anything to do with that doctor so I paid for my office visit and left. I ended up taking my dog to a highly rated vet in Livermore and was quoted $4000 LESS than the last quote I was provided by this office for the exact same surgery. Yes, you read that correct - $4000 LESS!!! ...Oh it only took them about 5 minutes to provide the surgery quote to me, not 45. read more

My pup has been a patient at Good Samaritans for 9 years now. My experiences have always been good and prices are very reasonable. A few years ago, I took my dog to an emergency hospital late night in Castro Valley because it was the only place open 24 hours and was concerned because my pup was limping and I was afraid he had fractured his leg. The doctor we saw took a brief look at him, touched his little hind leg and hip and determined he could have a fractured hip and estimated approx $8,000 for exams and surgery he said he would need. Although very concerned of the possibility, I didn't buy it and decided to wait to see his vet at Good Samaritan the next day for a second opinion. When I explained the situation and possibility of having a fractured hip, the vet gave me a look, grabbed the clippers and proceeded to shave his paw. Come to find out he had a small cut and not a fractured hip! He was given an ointment and pain meds and was good to go. More recently, I contacted Good Samaritan as my pup wasn't eating or drinking water and was vomiting/diarrhea. Unfortunately they were booked and advised that I seek help with another vet. They made it clear that they never want to turn a patient away, but because they couldn't guarantee that they could see me soon enough with the upcoming holidays and given the symptoms and how long he had been experiencing it, they were concerned that his health would deteriorate. I appreciate that the staff was honest and made the appropriate judgment with my pup's health and well being in mind and not profit. Luckily, I was able to find availability elsewhere and my pup is back to his tail wagging self :) Good Samaritan is a trusted vet hospital and recommend it. read more

They have no COVID-19 Procedures and want you to wait in your car in your car until whenever your appointment is over.Then they don't give you a set time for your appointment to be over just wait all day in the car. Update: on Friday 06/28, I took Zena in for her two week follow up appointment post operation. Upon arriving, I was checked in and was told to have a seat. A few minutes later, Aiyashi brought us in to the room and told me the Dr. Leeking would be in shortly. Before leaving, she smiled and told me "thank you for the Yelp review". I was a bit shocked as I wasn't sure if anybody at the clinic would read my review. I'm glad that I could provide excellent feedback for the clinic, as they have been nothing but fantastic during our visits! Not too long, Dr. Leeking entered. She asked how everything was going and wondered if I brought a leash (I totally forgot on my part), but she was able to provide one during the time so that she can see how Zena was doing. Zena was terrified! I don't think she likes being at the doctors. She backed up under the stool I was sitting on and wouldn't walk unless I walked first. Dr. Leeking told me that she's doing well and she doesn't have too much swelling which is good! She took Zena back to get her stitches removed and to go over some rehabilitation exercises for her to do to build back her muscles. After that we were good to go! I waited until they were done with Zena and Jeremy was really kind to help me book my next follow up appointment for her. Thank you Good Samaritan! read more

Long time client of Good Sam, but now that Dr. Eickloft is gone, I will not be returning. I loved Dr. Doe, but I was never able to get an appointment with him. Unfortunately, I haven't trusted Dr. Leeking ever since 2019. My file says that I do not want appointments with her, but once Dr. Eickloft left, I was always getting phone calls from her and knew I needed to switch vets once she was advising of life changing medication for my dog. I have a big old Great Dane and now that I have done vet shopping for some time, he has shown me that he is the most stressed and anxious at this vet specifically. He has had scarier things happen at all of the emergency vets that he has been to and he is not nearly as anxious there. I always wondered, but definitely see it now, as we have been in and out of many different vets over the last couple months. In 2019, I no longer wanted to see Dr. Leeking because she prematurely assumed a heart condition that would give my dog approximately 6 months to live. I think she also assumed that I could not afford any of the treatment because she mentioned "but that is really expensive. I'm not sure if you can afford that" after every treatment mentioned. I am not sure if she does that with every client, but she did not make me feel comfortable assuming my financial status. Maybe it is my age and/or my tattoos that made her assume I wouldn't have the money to care for my dog. Given, all the treatment is definitely expensive, but I knew this when getting a Great Dane. (Do your research and get insurance, people!) I fortunately sought out another opinion with a cardiologist, who thought that this vet jumped the gun and said that my dog has a large and athletic heart, but to keep tabs annually because things can change, but we have nothing to worry about now. Still love the cardiologist and see her every year, as he is officially diagnosed with a heart condition in 2023, when Dr. Leeking was ready to give him 6 months to live in 2019. Recently, there have been some tests that came back with strange numbers. I spoke with Dr. Leeking and she dropped the C word (Cancer) or kidney disease. When I asked how we could determine for sure whether it was one or the other, she said that we would have to see how the numbers fluctuate in tests moving forward. She was absolutely ready to give him medication that she admitted would be important to monitor him for a while because it is a life changing med (I can't remember the exact language used). I turned her down because (1) I didn't want to commit to this (based on 2019) and (2) I didn't want to give him medication for one thing, if we couldn't confirm what it was. Fortunately, I didn't because all of the vets that I saw recently inquired about blood work, heart rate, and all of these other things that were not done before saying cancer or kidney disease. All of these vets have said that there could be MANY things, so to jump to two things so soon was premature. I'm not sure if her way is to go straight to worst case, or what, but I never want my dog to see her again. The rest of Good Sam staff has been great to me, however. They take CareCredit and have worked with me financially when I had many medical emergencies with my other dog and my Great Dane at the same time. Definitely expensive. I'm going to be sad not to see their staff anymore, but I've found a more reliable vet that I feel that I can trust. I'm not sure if their turn over is high now, but I've seen new faces a lot. Dr. Doe has been fantastic, btw. I would ask for him if you choose Good Sam. For those that care, everything is handwritten here. I've gotten many complaints from his new vets that they can't read the writing so it is hard to figure out what they are saying in his years of records. read more

My Yorkie was due for his annual booster and a wellness exam. His vet is located 1.5 hrs from where we currently reside & it has become almost impossible to schedule an appointment that accommodates my schedule. Although I was very hesitant, I began my search for a new vet. I read reviews, asked around & finally decided on Good Samaritan. Initial phone call: Receptionist was very accommodating & offered a same day appointment. She asked that we go in a few minutes before our appointment to fill out paperwork & to bring in his previous vet information so that she can contact them & determine what was needed. Upon arrival: I was warmly greeted by Betty & Daisy at the front desk. They immediately knew I was there for Jason & handed me a short form to fill out. They called our vet & confirmed he was also due for a heart worm test. Reception area & Exam room: Tidy & clean. It's an older looking clinic. Paper charts & an older 70s feel to it. I'd definitely suggest a remodel but that does not take away from the excellent service. I met a few fur parents in the waiting area & all had great things to say & also mentioned they have been clients for 10-20 years! Vet: Jason was seen by Dr. Alice Eklof. She was very knowledgeable & most importantly, Jason felt comfortable with her. He is very fidgety when uncomfortable but I did not have to help her while he was being examined, which is sometimes the case. She recommended a dental cleaning & the fee proposal was almost half the price I've paid in the past. Prices: Again, very reasonable. I paid $105 for services. The wellness exam was FREE because I was a new client & because my referral source was YELP. My Yorkie had a heart worm test, DA2PP (Distemper,Hepatitis,Parvo,Para Influenza and Lepto 4 strains) & we purchased a flea comb. I highly recommend San Leandro Good Samaritan. read more

I was in today and not much has changed. Takes a long time to register, the reception desk is slow and doesn't acknowledge you unless they know you. I waited a good 15 mins before someone spoke to me and it was only 2 people in the room! (The other person was already helped) I understand we are all busy but acknowledging customers as they come in with your pets is part of your job! I have been coming in for a few years as it's close to my home but the customer service they provide is mediocre at best. They seem to do a good job with my pets so I continue to come however, the lack of customer service they provide has me thinking of changing vets. read more

I had been taking my elderly cat to Redwood Animal Hospital in Castro Valley, and I had no specific complaints, but I never felt entirely confident (different vets told me slightly different things, etc. - nothing major, I just never felt SUPER well informed). My elderly cat also HATES going out of the house at all, let alone to the vet, and has always thrown a fit and behaved differently for at least a day afterward. With covid I felt like it was time to stay closer to home and also take her to a place that was really clear about what their procedures were, etc. I took her here and while the prices here are definitely higher than I paid at Redwood, I also was given very clear information and very clear "when this happens call us and we will prescribe this specific thing" kind of information. The medication to increase her appetite has worked wonders. They were hesitant to give her antibiotics for a UTI because it was a common bacteria that doesn't always cause problems, but they were quick to prescribe once problems were showing up. When the antibiotics caused her eating to decrease they checked in to see how she was doing. When I didn't want to pay for the urine test again afterward (because I clearly wasn't going to give her antibiotics again given the experience we just had) they were completely understanding and didn't pressure me at all. As a bonus, when they would bring my cat back out to me, she was totally chill and not freaked out at all! I don't know what they do differently here, but while she still doesn't like diving in the car, she doesn't behave like she's upset after being here (not even while still in the carrier and in the car). That's a vote of 5-stars from her too! Their covid processes are fantastic. They have periodically checked in between visits. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the treatment my 18 yr old cat and I have received. read more

We took our very sick cat in. The prognosis wasn't good; the surgery was more than we could afford. Dr. Doe came up with a plan that didn't include surgery. He was able to save our cat! He showed us how much he cared about our cat, going above and beyond what we expected. We will be bringing in both our cats from now on. Dr. Eklof finished with a long-term plan for our cat when we brought him in again for the follow-up, which we really appreciated. We didn't have any issues with the receptionists--they helped us get our cat in on Saturday with no notice. We haven't had to wait extraordinarily long times either. read more

My husband and I have been bringing our puppy to Good Samaritan since we adopted her a little over a month ago. The first vet we actually saw was a "substitute vet". She was really great; it's too bad she wasn't an in-house vet. She was so sweet to our puppy throughout her exam and gave her treats every time she did something uncomfortable for our puppy, which I know is part of good training as well. She was really good to work with. And she was very patient in answering all of my questions (and I had a lot, considering we only had our puppy for about a week). The second vet we saw (Dr. Leeking) was okay. Not particularly warm, so it was a big contrast to our first experience. She handled our puppy very business-like, and the exam went really quickly. My husband and I weren't sure what to think after that appointment. She seemed effective, but we were just a little confused by her demeanor. Maybe she was having a bad day? We've also been to two puppy play hours hosted by Good Samaritan, which were great! Dr. Eklov and Hope were there the first time; Dr. Doe and Hope were there the second time. It's a really great, controlled environment for the puppies to practice their social skills, and it's really great to have a vet there supervising. And Hope is super friendly and all the pups love her. :) The third time we came for our puppy's last set of vaccines, we saw Dr. Doe. Dr. Doe is just fantastic. He was really great with our puppy and answered all of our questions. He's super friendly and we were very happy to work with him. We will definitely request him going forward when bringing in our puppy for exams. The receptionists are always very warm and friendly. Overall, this vet seems like a really great place (and it's only 5 minutes from home), so we'll continue to bring our puppy here. :) read more

Since my recent review the business reached out to me by phone. Needless to say they are working on refunding the recheck visit. The reason why I am converting it to a 5 star review is because they took the time to review my concern and change their policy based on my experience. I truly believe that my incident was a hiccup on their end and it may have been a gray area that they weren't aware of. read more

I used this vet once in 2015 and was so disgusted by the relentless upselling I never went back. Apparently nothing has changed. I just called to ask about boarding and was told that there would be an exam and shots required WITHOUT even asking if my pet had been recently examined or was up to date on shots. The focus is on revenue not animal care. read more

They try to scare you into thinking a $4,000 is needed to remove a cancerous bump and when you actually go through with it because you love your pet, then they "missed" some and ask for another $3500+ just watch out and get a 2nd opinion because you may be paying for something very expensive for nothing. I took both of my senior dogs here for at least 2 years. I always felt welcomed and the staff was always very helpful. Dr Leeking always spent time making sure I understood everything and gave me different options. Grateful for the care we received here! read more

This place has really gone downhill over the years, been coming here for the last 5+ years. What's extremely upsetting is that they would withhold approving a daily steroid medication refill that my dog needs because my dog hasn't had a checkup for over 1 year. Even when I agreed to come in at the earliest appointment (1 week out), they still wouldn't pre-approve the medication since it takes the compounding pharmacy 1 week to prepare and send. After explaining all that, the secretary Brie still denied to let the vet approve the medication and would rather risk my dog not having his med. The vet office didn't even call me to notify me the med wasn't approved! Yes, these people have no problem with your dog getting sick or dying. Do better Good Sam Vet. Oh BTW, there's always a 10-15 minutes wait time on the phone to speak with someone. read more
