Actually life changing…read more I've waited to review this gym, and I can confidently say that after a year of being a member - it is worth every penny!! With Equinox you truly get what you pay for - cleanliness, supportive and attentive staff, great atmosphere, quality equipment and machines, and incredible amenities. As someone who had a membership at both Planet Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness, there is nothing like Equinox. Regardless of the time of day, or day of the week - their version of "busy" or "peak times" is nothing in comparison to other gyms. I've always been able to find a spot to workout (squat rack, free weights, etc) and have hardly ever had to wait for a machine. In the few times I have had to wait, it was super short or Ive been able to work into a set with another person. It's also incredibly clean with wonderful amenities. My ideal Saturday consists of getting to Equinox - completing a workout, steam room session (15-20 mins), shower and massage. Also, I definitely want to shoutout the trainer I worked with, Jordan! I saw results in 3 months of working with him than I have in over a year of training with someone else. There is also a full spa!! Shoutout to Hailey and Amelia!! I've had them both as massage therapists - and they were both AMAZING!!! Overall, is it pricey? Yes, but all of the benefits are more than worth it!!! So happy to have found this incredible gym!!!!

I've been an Equinox member for over five years in Southern California and visit the San Ramon area…read moreonce or twice a year. This was, by far, the worst experience I've ever had at any Equinox location. After what I believed was a successful check-in, a staff member interrupted my workout by tapping me on the shoulder and asking me to stop by the front desk after I finished. About five minutes later, I was interrupted again--this time by two employees, including the manager, Lawrence Sanderson, who approached me in the middle of my workout and asked for my name. The issue wasn't whether there was a problem with my access. If I needed a day pass or didn't have access to this club under my membership, that could have been explained professionally and respectfully. Instead, I was treated as though I wasn't even an Equinox member. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational, abrupt, and unwelcoming. Had the situation been handled courteously, I would have happily paid for a day pass or resolved whatever issue existed. Instead, the manager's rude and abrasive approach left such a poor impression that I decided to leave. To make matters worse, the club was extremely crowded, with long waits for equipment and very few machines available. Between the overcrowding and the way I was treated, the experience was far below what I've come to expect from Equinox. After five years as a loyal member, I'm genuinely disappointed. I've always associated Equinox with exceptional customer service and hospitality, but this location delivered the exact opposite. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because no member should be made to feel unwelcome or embarrassed in the middle of a workout.

Whether you're brand new to fitness, a parent juggling life, pregnant or postpartum, or a competitive athlete chasing podiums, this gym truly meets you where you are and helps you rise. In 2025, I hit a PR in a women's single HYROX and was on a women's elite Hyrox relay team, and I can confidently say HAWC played a huge role in that success. This gym trains HYROX first-timers alongside professional elite HYROX competitors, and somehow everyone feels supported, challenged, and motivated. There are multiple podium HYROX athletes, DEKA competitors (and podium world champion athletes), Spartan racers, and elite professional members training here, and the culture is never intimidating, it's only inspiring. HAWC is veteran-owned by Dan he shows up everyday and pours his heart and soul into his gym. HAWC gym has amazing trainers as well coach Lindsay, Dan and Doug are hands down some of the best coaches I've ever worked with. They genuinely care about your progress, your health, and your long-term success. They know how to push you safely, intelligently, and confidently. The vibe is unmatched. It's motivating, supportive, and fun. Many members are parents, incredibly strong, and encouraging. Pregnant mamas are coached with care and respect, athletes of all ages are empowered, and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. Every day I walk in, I'm pushed to be better physically, emotionally and mentally. I'm so grateful to have found HAWC Gym in San Ramon. If you're looking for a change in 2026, this is it. Show up. Have fun. Do your best. HAWC Gym will help you hit your fitness goals and become a stronger, better version of yourself. Highly recommend.

Before we met, I was dealing with a herniated disc in my lumbar and had gotten to a point where I wasn't enjoying the gym anymore and had largely stopped going. Nick met me where I was at, helped me rebuild confidence in my body, and taught me how to train safely while still making progress and helping me meet my goals. What I've appreciated most is that he understands that everyone has different goals and needs. He was able to blend functional training with the hypertrophy-focused style of training that I enjoy, which helped me get stronger, improve my core strength, build muscle, lose fat, and most importantly, regain my love of training. He's been a huge part of helping me get my life back during a difficult period, and I'd absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable trainer who genuinely cares about his clients' success. It's cleanly, she runs a tight ship on her employees to walk the floor and make sure weights are put away and attachments aren't lying around. I didn't see a machine out of working order, except one of the legs machines, and even then it was fixed promptly. There's a good array of options for whatever your workout is and choices you probably won't see if your standard commercial gym. Here's the truth: I cancelled as a founding member at $60/mo so if that isn't a good enough value to stay, the price for new members is stupid expensive. You're talking close to bay club prices for less than a quarter of the space and amenities. Recovery - there is none. She calls Glow House studio recovery for some odd reason. It's facial derma-planning and spray tanning. No sauna, steam room, massage chairs, nothing traditionally considered "recovery" unless we're redefining words. There's maybe 30 parking spots so if this place ever gets busy, good luck with that although their pricing is likely keeping them from growing and they use the guise of "exclusive" to justify it. But the real problem here is community. This place feels like high school mean girls club and a vanity project for the owner. If you peddle her clothing brand to get a discount code in your online bio and like filming cringy online content, you'd be best friends with the culture here. As another reviewer here said hearing Josh (front end tattoo guy) talking about other members - if you aren't in their "crew" or worship the owners egotistical wish to be a women's only gym, you're on the outside. Acquaintances of mine identity Lux as a girls only gym because it's the place self proclaimed "influencers" go to film content. You'll find tripods out almost every session you go. Imagine taking some of the most annoying online wannabe "influencers" and running a gym with just them as the work force - you get self inflated ego's, workout environments that are more about filming and attention, more posing, less lifting. Everything here feels performative, every interaction. Girls poking out their behinds and effeminate men shaking hips to film cringey online content for a brand they don't own and a company they must feel is their lifetime job of saying "Have a good workout." If your natural next step in life is to try and grow your "online presence" and like being around like minded individuals that care more about what they are showing online and perhaps want to peddle clothing and peptides. - you'll fit right in. When I emailed to cancel I received no response and had to call 2 days later to ask what's going on. The owner said I was cancelled to which I asked "Oh so you just didn't want to respond to my email or communicate confirmation in any way?" I wasn't even going to review this place but what a shit way to do business.

Presently, they can accommodate 8 regulation pickleball courts with the gym split into 3 sections. Today was the first day of open pickleball drop-in. Currently, the play schedule for pickleball is only on Sundays from 4 - 7 PM. The turn-out on this first day was huge. There were plenty of staff to help guests pay and register for play. They had plenty of regulation ball used for play and they even had an instructor giving pointers and tips to beginners. This should become a big hit with the local players because it is playable day or night, is air conditioned so it's still comfortable on hot, humid days and the cost is reasonable. If you are in reasonable health and have decent hand-to-eye coordination, come try it out! It's great for seniors because the games are relatively short and you can sit out and rest between matches. You can play as much or as little as you want. It's a lot of fun and one of the few physical games that old and young can play together.
