LOVED my experience here! Visiting the area for the weekend, I was looking for a sauna and red light therapy treatment. After a quick Yelp search I stumbled upon this gem! I came in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm. I wasn't looking for a membership, I have one back at a spa back home - I was look for day of services. I was prepared for the pricey one day serves - but was pleasantly surprised!! I purchased a treatment in one of their red light chambers, infrared trim spa (my favorite ever!!) and sun bed (red light and uv). I also purchased a sample size of one of their lotions, and everything came out to be under $100. That may sound pricey, BUT at any other salon that would have been easily over $100. The service was incredible too! The young lady working at this location looked up every possible way I would be able to get a discount. And overall the prices for memberships are top tier. Now onto the services!! The red light therapy was a standing room chamber. It had a vibration plate and was quite possibly the best experience I've had with red light therapy. I was looking forward to trying their halotherapy, but it was not working that day. I did end up using the infrared trim spa - and let me say - I've used cocoon spas in the past but this - this was superior in all ways!! I ended my session with their sun bed with red light and UV. Overall amazing! Everything I tried was incredible. The location itself is clean, well maintained and had lots of other offerings (waters, bags, cute clothes, lotions, etc). The staff is super knowledgeable and kind. I look forward to making this my go to wellness spa when I'm in the area. read more

I'm not a tanning person, but when a tropical vacation was going to occur after my skin not seeing sun for 2 years, I decided to get a little tan before we went (I burn but then tan and stay tan). The girls at this location were all great. I got my tan and didn't burn on vacation (plus got compliments on my color). But I called the customer service line 10 min too late on the 20th of the month so they didn't let me cancel and I had to keep my membership for an entire extra month. They have a few other services aside from the tanning beds: a red light therapy booth with a vibrating exercise plate, a steam pod, a massage chair, and spray tan. They are moving locations and will have some other features at the new one. Wait times could be long depending on when you came in. There is usually only one person working, and she had to manage the line, clean the rooms, check everybody in... During busy times you might have to wait a while. Unless you were only going to do one service one time, the best deal is to sign up for the "ambassadors program." You get unlimited services including all of the tanning booths and other services. You could also bring a friend who could tan free in one of the basic beds (or a discount in one of the upgraded machines). It also comes with a discount on lotions and other merchandise. Paying for the tans separately works out to be much more expensive than the $70 a month for the unlimited package. TLDR version: good equipment, friendly staff, sometimes a line/wait, but DON'T FORGET TO CANCEL BEFORE THE 20th or you'll be charged for another month. read more

I went into this tanning salon to cancel my membership in person back in Late February (it's currently July). The very stoned employee printed out a cancelation form that I signed and gave back to her. She said that nothing else was required on my part to cancel my membership. I am still being charged and a different amount each month. It took multiple calls to their corporate office only to be told that they can cancel my membership as of July 1. What a Joke! I purchased very expensive lotion from one employee only to be told by another employee (after the fact) that I was sold the wrong product for my desired result and skin tone. Do not waste your money on this salon. As a business owner myself, I would never tolerate this type of customer service from any of my employees. read more

Signed up to Tan earlier this week, should have taken the sign of all that went wrong and not signed up. The guy working the desk had constant issues. Had my information all wrong. But I thought I'd give them benefit of the doubt. He finally got me set up in a room, only the bed wouldn't turn on. Had to get redressed to go out and have them fix the issue. Next day I go back in to tan and have them correct my information that the previous gentleman could not seem to get right. Went back in an a 3rd day, front desk lady asked to see my eyewear (which I don't use, just use a towel over my face). Clerk said I needed them according to the FDA. Which mind you the 2 times before, was not asked or required to have them. But I agreed to buy a disposable pair for $1... except they don't accept cash. . I was not going to use my credit card again and for $1. The $1 hold the First Gentleman put on my account, was charged twice. So I don't trust them to run it correctly. I called corporate to cancel my account and refund, but because I used the service twice this week, they are unable. Tan anywhere other than here! Terrible customer service! read more

They offer a variety of beds and everything is always very clean. I appreciate the towel, the mint, and the fact that you can control the music volume from inside the bed. The music consists of kinda trendy summer jamz/bubblegum pop, which at times is annoying but I just turn the volume down when it starts to bug me. I also like that you start the timer once you get in, so you can take as long as you need to get ready without rushing and worrying that your time is going to start without you. What really puts this place at 5 star status is the customer service. Every person I've spoken to (over the phone and in person) goes above and beyond to explain the tanning process, timing, beds, memberships, lotions (I once spent a minimum of 10 minutes asking questions about all the lotions, how they work, what's in them, what they cost, etc) and not for one second do the associates look irritated or get impatient with me. The world needs more employees like them everywhere. Thanks ladies!! read more

Ever since I moved from So cal, I have been a california sun member for about 4 years now. I used to go to the location in bradshaw but have been going to the zinfandel location for the past 2 years. I've always had a wonderful experience with the girls @ the desk.. they have always been very friendly, welcoming and willing to assist with any questions I have had. There is a new store manager @ the zinfandel location; Britney! (Hope I'm spelling her name right ) she is so well-mannered, helpful, caring & informative. She took the time to explain to me how different beds work, the different lotions to use, the necessities of tanning and the importance of prep before tanning. She made me feel very confident and answered all my questions. Also there is Morgan, she was very nice and helpful as well! They are not pushy (the typical stereotype with tanning salons) they are just overall very helpful and informative on the importance of tanning. I had a wonderful experience today during my tanning visit. My advice for everyone is ask the girls for recommendations and advice on lotions and beds! They know what they are talking about. The staff are knowledgable about lotions, safety, skin type, and general tanning info. Beds are clean and the bulbs don't leave you with stripes. Towels are always provided - with a peppermint candy to keep you cool. Nice touch! I have had one or two minor customer svc issues related to a bed timing out on me way before my session was done, but they went above and beyond to correct it and credit me for the session. This company is a joke! Beyond unprofessional ... had always heard awful things about them but now it's my turn to vent. I walked in to their Rancho location today after not being there in over a year. Wanted to purchase a single visit but was told I owed $1.40 for a charge way back when. When the gal msgd and called her "supervisor" to ask why this was, the "supervisor" told her that they never collected enough tax from a purchase I had made over a year ago. Both the clerk at front desk and I were surprised - one would have thought that if their employee did not charge the correct amount of tax on something so minimal that corporate would have waved it. Nope, not this corporate jerk. I asked if I could talk to the "supervisor" while the desk clerk had her on the phone and the "supervisor" told her NO, that they don't talk with customers. Seriously, so unprofessional and I will never visit ANY CA Sun Center again. Do they have idiots running the show?!?! read more

Such great service! A few days ago I came to this location to learn about tanning to see if it is for me. The girl at the front desk, (Sydney), was very kind and gave me a lot of great information on the salon and products. Although I told her that I would not be able to purchase a membership until I got paid, she still was very kind and patient with me. I have suffered through depression for a long time now, and I read that tanning can actually sometimes help with this. I, of course, was skeptical, so naturally I wanted to learn more before I was completely convinced. Sydney explained to me how the UV rays are good for your mind in the same way that real sunlight is. She showed me many great products and told me the benefits of each of them. She has definitely sold me to come back and sign up for a membership with her! Keep up the great work! read more

They don't care about their customers, they just want their money. I went to the grocery store and for food and toilet paper and my card was declined. Yikes, I haven't had issues with any of the California Suns in the past and I've visited 4 or 5. I have gone to this location for a couple of months, but have become so disappointed in the ability to get a fully functional bed, I terminated our renewal contracts. On multiple occasions the beds have had burned bulbs. So, what does that mean for me, several times because my time had started I couldn't go into a new bed, the staff offered nothing other than I am sorry. It happened today, but today the burned-bulb bed also had two short and curly hairs floating around as I went to get in, luckily the burned bulbs saved me, maybe a blessing in disguise. I spoke with management, at the store and local headquarters, and they did not have much to say, other than sorry. I purchased a promotional package, and requested they try and make things right. I told them i was so disappointed that they pass the credit on to my wife who found another location she is happy with. With this, the customer service person who called me and responded "that we purchased a promotional package and that we had got our money's worth.' This is the same attitude that extends down to staff, and ultimately, in my personal experience to the customer. This location should receive deep consideration if you want to have a professional and clean experience. Furthermore, do know if problems arise, I just hope sorry is enough to satisfy you. read more

Love this salon, all the girls are very friendly and helpful! I have the Ambassadors pass which gives me access to all beds and sunless at all locations! Not expensive at all and you get a $20 credit each month and amazing deals on lotions all the time!! Location is very clean & the girls have knowledge of what they are doing. I love that they are not always trying to sell products each time you walk in! Make sure to bring your own eye wear with you as you'll need it to tan. read more

I have come to LOVE this location (despite the fact that they have Mystic instead of Versa for sunless) and I love most of the girls that work there! The staff is helpful and the pricing is actually quite stellar. The basic $20/month package is a steal since you get unlimited tanning at ALL of their locations! The have 1/2 off upgrades on the weekends and constantly have stellar specials that make membership worth the monthly fee! This location is the worst California Sun in the area. Some of the girls are helpful, but I am SO tired of the sales pitch every time I go in. The commission that the girls get from selling lotions and upgrades must be highly encouraged as I am almost assaulted with sales pitches every time I go in! This place needs to restructure the way they pay the girls because it makes the experience lame when you have to say "no" to three or four sales upgrades before they will seat you. Then, once you get into your bed it is frustrating that some of the bulbs always seem to be out. Why do they allow customers to "discover" this ourselves! Why isn't it part of management to go in and check the bulbs in the beds every morning to make sure they work?? Why do they allow the customers to make these realizations for them? They will sell the heck out of an upgrade but spend little time on the finished product:( All in all the experience hasn't been bad at other locations, but I would avoid this particular one. read more

This location is fairly nice considering where it's located. My favorite CS was on Sunrise Blvd in citrus heights but they closed :(. I bought their $10 for one week deal and one of my days fell on easter Sunday so I asked if I could just come in on Monday to get the whole weeks worth like 4 days ahead and the girl said yeah yeah, that shouldn't be a problem. So I drive there on Monday and she tells me I need to purchase a one time tan because they won't honor that day I missed due to them closing on a holiday. Thanks! This tanning salon has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. First of all, the girls at the counter are always rude and unhelpful except when they're trying to upsell you on a product you don't need. Last month, I had lost my bank card and gotten a new one and failed to update it in your system. My fault, no problem I paid the extra fee. Today, I went to use a tanning bed and the girl at the counter tries to charge me the fee again because you still had my old card on file and the payment was rejected because that card doesn't exist anymore. She even told me that the girl was new and probably didn't process it properly and so my card didn't get updated. Then she proceeds to tell me that I an still getting charged the penalty fee because, "That's a bank fee the company gets charged." I'm sorry, I fail to see how that's my problem? So I said, "So you guys made a mistake that I now have to pay for because the bank is charging you?" She said, "Yes." If you can't see how this is poor customer service, you shouldn't be running a business. I would be embarrassed if my company treated a client that way. Also, your girls need to do a better job of cleaning the beds, I usually have to clean it again myself to make sure it's done right. So because of your bank fee, poor customer service and dirty beds, I will be cancelling my membership instead of upgrading it. read more

This California Sun Center is great! The staff is amazing and aren't pushy at all. The beds are very clean and do the job! Their equipment is new and they have a different variety of beds! I have had no issues with Cal Sun even when I cancelled my membership. It honestly was the most easiest cancellation ever. I definitely will be back after my honeymoon. read more

I tanned with this company for years until I moved to Miami about 5 years ago. I was in town visiting Sacramento for the week and thought I would call to see about tanning for the week while I was here. The girl at corporate told me that I could tan with a promo they were running for 9.99 for 7 days. I thought wow. Are you sure it's not 9.99/tan?? She assured me that it was for the base tanning beds and yes, only 9.99 total for the 7 days. She was well aware I was visiting from out of town. I went to the hazel location and the girl was very nice but confused at why I was given this information. She called customer service and they guy told her to tell me that wasn't the promo. That it was only for club members?!?! I decided to call the guy myself, Steve, and explained everything again to him and said that the girl at corporate must be ill informed. If you are going to have a few people answering calls for all the locations these people should know the current promotions! He was extremely unprofessional with me and said he wasn't going to do anything for me. I urged him to pull my call from earlier and gave him the exact time I called with my number so he could retrieve it and listen to what happened. He basically told me too bad your problem. I understand that people make mistakes but how you handle a customer issue is what really sets you apart as a company people want to do business with. This was an error on your part that could have been fixed with the proper customer service. I give your company a FAIL for not resolving my issue properly. I may move back to Sacramento and will never use your company for any tanning needs in the future. read more

I usually come to this location and have a pleasant experience, but this time I came in, granted it was right before the closed. But the girl was absolutely rude and acted like I messed up her entire night. I work in the restaurant business and I understand how frustrating it is when people come in right before we close but you never treat any paying customer as if they a burden.
