They close down an hour early, without notice. You show up during business hours and it's closed. Since this place was bought by the new owner, they're constantly closing early to go home. Owner says the next day that last tan is at 7:30; but nowhere on their Website or place of business does it say so and the previous ownership group didn't have that caveat and they had the same exact employees. Glad I found this spot. Came here bc they're open on Sundays and that's the day that worked best for a spray tan. The other 2 place I normally go were closed and had short hours on Saturday and Monday. This place had way more availability. Easy parking, walk ins welcome but I opted for an appointment for the spray tan. The girl working the front was friendly and thoroughly explained things. Tan came out pretty good. Seemed to develop more after the shower which I waited to take for at least approx 15 hours after the spray, It wasn't as custom or dark as the other places I go to but it's not bad for a last minute spray and I do believe they have more custom option to which you can go darker. They also offer a special - 2 tans for $78 which i opted for since it's good for up to one year. read more

Perfect tanning salon- exactly what I expected + more! This was my first time getting a tan. I walked in around an hour before they closed and I was warmly greeted by the gal in front who answered all my questions and gave me all the information! Broke everything down to me, let me decide what I wanted, didn't make me feel judged or out of place she made me feel like this was gonna come out looking cute and it did!! I said I wanted something noticeable! I didn't want it subtle and that's what I got I love it. She also informed me of a buy 1 now get a discount if you prepay for your next one too. It was $78 for 2 spray tans which is fine to me. There was also adorable stickers you could place on your body to make a tan line. One thing I would say is if they have a sticker of a thong that would be cool or something to make a sexy bikini tan line but I guess I'll bring my own bikini next time!! read more

First time here today, and had a great time. Went in for a booth spray tan (they have the Mystic machine). The front desk staff member was so sweet and helpful! She walked me through the process and offered suggestions since it's been a while since my last booth tan. Space was clean, organized, tidy. Prices were great! I called as soon as they opened to try and get in for a last minute tan and due to unfortunate circumstances they were short staffed but the owner was doing everything he could to get someone in , he called me back 1.5 hour later and was able to get me in ! Ker, or Kar I can't remember what her name was; was wonderful ! She made me feel comfortable , you could tell she was knowledgeable and knew what she was doing . My spray tan looks AMAZING ! its so natural and PERFECT ! People were wondering how I got so tan so fast and everyone was shocked when I told them it was a spray tan . I will be back! I've been coming to R U Tan for a few years now and I absolutely love this place. I live in West Sac but I still travel the 20 minutes just to tan here. They have great variety of tanning beds, the spray tan always looks great, and the customer service is the best!!!! They do make suggestions based on what you are getting, but I never feel pressured to buy anything extra. Also, the owner really cares and engages with the customers. The employee I worked with provided a recommendation on the type and intensity of the tan for me, which turned out looking natural and not-at-all Cheeto-esque. They have a bin of $5 packets of surprisingly great quality lotions, usually $5 are lower-end lotions. -It may not be the most "modern-looking" salon however it is immaculate to the T, more so than those more modern salons. -BRAND new bulbs in all beds -Staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about tanning & the products. DO NOT GET A MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP UNLESS YOU WANT YO PAY A 75 CANCEL FEE. Think twice before signing up for a monthly account. I've been paying monthly through Covid. I was informed today this location was open during lockdown. When all salons were required to be closed this business was not. Interesting that this location NEVER shut down during the shut down. Second, I let them know I would like to stop my membership. I've been pay 53.95 monthly. Today I was charged 53.95 and told them I would like my membership stopped. They told me they would waive the 75 cancel fee (but they didn't!) . So it 75 dollars to cancel your membership. SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS to CANCEL A monthly membership of 53.95. I paid today 53.95, they cancelled it and kept my money, waived the 75 (really waived 25). Now, I've paid today and I can't use the membership this month. I was told I will get a discount when I resign up. I NEVER signed anything stating I would pay 75 to cancel. I was told I can cancel at anytime when I became a monthly customer. I won't be a customer of this place again. I recommend laying out in the sun or buy tanning cream from the store. Current research states tanning machines are harmful and cause skin cancer and self tanning machines are available on Amazon for very affordable amounts with tanning refills being around 20 a bottle. You can tan so much and never need to leave your home risking exposure to viruses. Go in halves with friends and watch YouTube videos on how to spray tan. I hoped I help someone out there read more

I haven't been to RU Tan since the nineties. I'm in the process of taking a trip to Hawaii and figured I should tan before I go. This place is under new ownership. I personally met the owner who is passionate about delivering the best customer service and treating their employees well. I worked with Liz, the lead trainer who was able to customize a package deal for me along with tanning lotion and a new set of goggles. Being under new ownership, the owner has invested money in upgrading all the beds and the facility itself. Their prices are competitive and fairand the facility is located across the street from the pavilions and three doors down from Chef Bo. You really can't go wrong with the location, the pricing, and most of all the best customer service. I will definitely be coming back. read more

All of the staff is always super friendly and helpful but I particularly love Leticia she always makes me feel so comfortable and I always feel like a new woman when I leave that place! Like others have said, this is the best tanning spot in Sacramento. I started building my tan for my upcoming wedding and this was my favorite place to go. I recently moved to Folsom from East Sacramento and sadly had to find somewhere new to tan. To my dismay, the new place I started going to out here is terrible so now I'm making the 20 minute drive back to Sacramento to tan but it is well worth it as the place is very clean, friendly, and they have the best selection of tanning options that I've found that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. I signed a new membership at this location last week, and have completed a few sessions. The staff are all super friendly and helpful when it came to picking out the right membership and the right products, and always ask how my session went on my way out. Also, I had a minor issue and sent a message on Facebook messenger. The owner contacted me within 3 minutes, and had my situation completely resolved in less than 10 minutes! This location is further from my house than other tanning locations, however I went with them because they had more stars and comments on Yelp. So far I'm very happy with my decision. read more

Long over due 5 star review! I have been coming to R U Tan for quite some time and have always enjoyed the friendly service and great tanning options! Typically I bed tan unless I want a quick spray tan before a vacation or event. Pretty cool that they offer custom airbrush or even the automated pura spray booth. I even look forward to my green jolly rancher and cold bottle of water after my tan. Not to mention hair ties/ body wipes and deodorant. These little but so appreciated goodies make you feel comfortable and fresh after tanning. I personally can't say enough good things. Great service, great prices and nice bronze tans!
