If I could give 0 stars, I would. The owner (or store manager -- I'm not sure which) was extremely disrespectful. I went in to make a return on day 8, not realizing their policy only allows returns up to day 7. I completely understand that part and was fine with doing an exchange instead. However, when I asked for help finding my size, she stood there and said, "You can choose any shirt, any size, for exchange." I asked her twice to confirm, and she repeated the same thing. When I picked the next size up, she suddenly said I owed about $4 more because of a "price difference." That's not what she had said earlier. To make matters worse, she began muttering things under her breath in another language. I recorded it and translated it afterward -- and what she said was completely inappropriate and racist. It's unacceptable for any business owner to treat customers like that. I will never shop here again, and I hope others think twice before supporting a store that allows this kind of behavior. read more

I have been shopping at california dreams for over 4 years, i have never once had a problem until today. I don't know if the old woman was having a bad day or what it was. I simply went in for a piercing and showed her the one I wanted. I don't know if she got bothered from the way I tapped on the glass to show her or what but right after she wants to tap on it harder in an obnoxious way and say "which one?". I looked over at my partner and said "what the hell" because what the fuck was that? And right after this old woman goes "We can go at it all day." Seriously so shook. I had to run in here the other night after realizing I started my new job the next morning and black dickies are a requirement. I was so glad I remembered this place, I yelped the hours and had about 45 minutes to get there and shop before close. I was so pleased to see at least 3 racks of Dickie pants including all different styles and prices ranging from $19.99-24.99. After trying on millions of different pairs in their (tiny) dressing rooms, I has successfully found the right ones. I must admit I was a little be weary about going to this store, I hadn't stepped foot in here since I was young and I remember being terrified. The store was very clean and organized, I think there were only 3 employees working but it didn't seem like they had had a hard time keeping up with the cleanliness. Next, I needed plain black shoes. There is an amazing shoe selection right as you walk in, I didn't need any name brand shoes but they do have brands such as Converse and Vans and were actually selling them a few dollars short of any regular retail store. I found the perfect pair of shoes for only $13.99, actually most of the simple girls shoes were that same price and I was so happy I wasn't going to walk out spending over $20 on shoes I only need for work. Another added bonus about this place is that even though I was still shopping about 10 minutes before close, I didn't get any dirty looks or any vibes from the employees that they wanted me and the other customers out. I spent hundreds of dollars in this store for the holidays and I had a couple of exchanges for different sizes I needed to make. I was a few days past the exchange policy and I wasn't trying to return just do an even exchange and they flat out refused me, in not such a nice manner. I had receipts for everything and like I said it was a few days off! I will never shop in this store again neither will my family or friends. They were so rude and absolutely the most unprofessional and unfriendly people ever! Their customer service is the absolute worst! I even showed past receipts to show I was a frequent customer and never had returns in the past and they didn't seem to give me the time of day or honor this and help a customer out for a first time offense! Place is decent. I can always find a cute outfit for a decent price. Some of the clothes are from Charlotte russe and other stores at the mall but because their not in season anymore they sell them here. Variety of items from jewelry, swimsuits, T-shirts, bras, underwear makeup, shoes and more. Men's section is on the right once you walk inside and women's is on the left. Customer service is meh, they ask how your doing but when they get you to the register they rush you. The employees are constantly making sure no one steals which is understandable with all their prior situations with people stealing. So many cameras are installed through out the store. BUYER BEWARE...This store has inexpensive clothing made in China. They sell irregulars, so don't assume anything fits right and they don't exchange or Refund. Spent $150 total. One Tee for $23 in XL size and the neckline was so tight I tried to return it a day later. They wouldn't let me return or exchange it. I regret having given this store my business. Besides being extremely rude and confrontational the proprietor dropped the F-bomb. I fail to understand the shortsightedness of anyone in business that doesn't welcome repeat business. Their loss. So I've been giving this store 3 to 4 years of my business, every year I spend a good 3 to 4 hundred dollars buying shorts and shirts. Today I decided to walk there with my kids. Daughter took her bike and son took his scooter. As i arrive, I was going to put my daughter's bike inside (tiny bike she's only 6). She got off of course and I was walking it in, but the lady who i think was the owner said I couldn't bring it in. I tried pleading my case but she was not having it. Very simple I wasn't rude nor upset I just let her know that if that was the case I wouldn't be doing any business at her store. I've been shopping here for over 20 years and they've always been super nice to me. Locating my hard to find pant size has never been a problem here and the prices are quite reasonable on all the clothes that I usually wear. I buy all my work clothes and most of my everyday clothes here too. I just left this store about an hour ago after talking to the owner and purchasing some clothes. I got 5 pairs of different style Dickies blue jean pants and 8 heavy duty, long sleeve t-shirts for about $170. I am at a loss of words for how horrible these people are. ALL THE LADIES that work here to be specific. My boyfriend got jeans a few days ago and they forgot to take the little detector gadget off the jeans and we didn't realize til the next day so we went back today and he went in to ask if they can plz remove the detector and they were right off the bat saying that he stole the jeans and that they were gunna call the police on him. They said that because he's a black man & they were treating him so horrible in front of 5+ customers. I went in with a camera and video taped the whole incident because I was pissed and they were giving him such a hard time.. giving him hateful looks and just full of hate in general. I will NEVER in my life go back to this shit hole & in times like this especially with the racism going on I would never recommend anybody here. People like this need to get shut down. I think without even going there to attempt to exchange Dickies THAT TOTALLY FELL APART after 2 months (bought on 10/08/2018) today is 1 Jan 2019. I am going to contact the BBB and makes sure their inventory is not BOOTLEGGED. Dickies is a great brand. My son is big but did nothing that would explain how they fell apart. I come to this place to often shop for inexpensive work pants and the occasional cute top. My work pants never hold up more than a couple months from here. While they have a huge selection of clothes, they never carry excess product in the back according to the owners that never talk to you unless they have to. If you find something you like in your size, buy it right away. They never get more shipments in on popular items and never check to see if there is more product in the back for you. I bought 2 pairs of Dickies for my teenage grandson for part of his Christmas gift about a week before Christmas. They ended up being too small for him. I took them back 2 days after Christmas. The one pair he had tried on lost the Dickie tab/label but had the other tags on it. They would not give me a refund for that pair! They told me they could not re-sell the unworn Dickie pants because the tag was gone. Really? Other stores do all the time. They told me to get in touch with the Dickie company and maybe I could get a refund through them. Then they started telling me their return policy is 7 days but she changed her mind and let me get a refund for the other pair because it was Christmas. That is such poor customer service. Terrible customer service. I went in earlier today to purchase some sandals, I found a style I really liked. The display one was my size (5.5) so, I tried it on and I thought it was really cute. When I went up to the young girl with glasses named "Michelle" (her boss told me her name, but, he didn't seem so sure) who was dealing with the shoes, I asked her if there was another pair in 5.5 and she told me "no, and we don't give any discounts" snearingly. When I comment on her attitude, she responded with even more attitude. When I told her boss, he didn't even apologize for her behavior. Anyway, the shoes were about $20 I was more willing to pay for that. However, I was so disgusted by her response, I decided to take my business to Cathy Jean where I spent $75, which I would have gladly spent at Californian Dreams. It's seriously not hard AT ALL to give good customer service. I work retail, myself. Despite my pay at any retail stores I worked at, I gave it my all and was just grateful I had a job. very unhappy with this place today. we tired to return 2 mens sweatshirts that are falling apart. the threads break and ball up when we washed them. Of course the man said he can not take them back because they have been washed--the threads only ball up when you wash them. i am trying to find the manufacturer--the tag only says Hill USA. if this is the kind of product they chose to sell---then they are getting ripped off --and loosing customers. Since I am very short (4'11) I usually have a very hard time trying to find pants. When I went to Californian dreams they have short cut pants that fit me perfectly. They are very helpful and nice there and usually greet you as you walk in. I go there atleast one a week and they have very cute clothes! read more
