I've lived in San Diego the past 8 years and moved back to the High Desert. It's always stressful finding a new barber. Aaron (sorry if it's misspelt) cut my hair and she was amazing. First time customers for us. We used Ivan. He did exactly what I asked for with my sons hair and it looks great. What's most important to me is the atmosphere when you walk into barber shops. Usually their very rude (like top hats), or no one greets you. I went to one a while back on Bear Valley that the whole time in their with my little kids this one guy wouldn't stop cursing. I've been coming here for a little over two years now, and my overall experience with this place has been incredibly positive and awesome. Steve-O is my barber, and he's one of the finest barbers I've come across in my time living up here. He's been chopping my hair for most of the two years I've been coming here, and he always lives up to the high standards I've always had when it comes to my hair. These guys know their craft, and they know it well. Even when they go through periods of being short-staffed,both Chuy and Steve-o do what they can to work with people to get them into their barber chair. The atmosphere in this place is that of a true, genuine barbershop where one can always count on a laugh and a good time. I'm a little disappointed about this place. The 1st time I went, I saw Brandon which apparently didn't work there and was simply filling in. But because I had a great haircut, I trusted a new barber to hook me up. This guy names Eddie cut my hair and the guy had no personality or customer service skills. He didn't make any conversation, the haircut felt rushed and he didn't bother asking me if I even liked it. On top of that, he tried to over charge me. If I go back, I won't be seeing him again. It's sad because it's guys like Eddie that make me not want to go back to a place that was intially great. They should make sure ALL of their barbers are on the same level as Brandon. read more

Moving back up to the High Desert looking for a new haircut spot, i came across Calikutz. After reading reviews I decided to give them a try. When arriving i noticed how clean and nice looking the business was and the people were even nicer. I made an appointment so did not even wait a minute. My barber was Anthony, I told him what I wanted as for my cut and he completed my resquest on point!! Had my girl give my cut a look over and no stray hairs, no patches, smooth shave, no hair round the ears, allllllllllll good!! Will definitely keep coming to CALIKUTZ!!!!! Met 4 barbers today, I had a chance to get my cut from Chip, but all super chill guys in there (Chuey, Ivan, Chip, and 1BADSTCH aka Steve.) The vibes were upbeat, but professional, the place was clean, and they had sports on the television. Was given a seat immediately as I had an appointment set, and Chip took his time with asking what I wanted done. My haircut and beard trim both came out great.
