I just used Frank for what I thought was an emergency. We had some flooding yesterday in our basement. We were able to remove the water and dry it out and called Frank shortly after. Frank responded to me within an hour and said he would be out today. He and his son came out. They communicated the whole time and asked before they did anything. Turns out our contractor installed a GFI that didn't work and our sump pump was plugged into the bad GFI. While Frank was here, he also fixed our sink. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced. Did a good job and also didn't shame me for not checking the GFI. read more

Very efficient service, and also very good about cleaning things afterward. Only quirk is that they do not accept credit cards. Would call again for another smaller job like this. read more

At the tail end of the polar vortex, on a Saturday night, despite our doing 'everything right', a pipe burst in our house. We scrambled to find a plumber and picked Call First because they were nearby and open! They came pretty darn quickly given the circumstances of deep freeze plumbing issues all over the city. They worked hard and they worked quick. The problem was assessed and addressed in record time. And best of all, despite it being a weekend night and one of a million calls they had behind and ahead of them the cost was fair and reasonable -- I feel like we should have added a bonus. I called Frank at call first last year regarding an object stuck in my toilet and informed him that I had already used an auger to attempt to get it out but was unsuccessful. He/his team showed up without an auger and attempted to clear the blockage with a coat hanger. After seeing that, I offered my auger. He attempted to clear it with my auger. After that was (obviously) unsuccessful, he stated that there was no other choice than to remove the toilet, attempt to clear it, and re-seal it. For some insane reason, I agreed. He did so, using my cheap hvac and not actually clearing the pipes all the way, rinsing the toilet out with a hose on my back deck and dripping sewer water on the floor, and mopping up all of the water with my bath towels. This cost over $400. One year later, I have discovered that he and his team did not actually re-seal the toilet correctly, causing a leak, warping the floors in the bathroom, and causing a hole in the ceiling in the room below. Today, I have professional plumbers out to fix the issue that he and he team caused. Do not use this company. read more

I called these guys when I had standing water in my sink and they showed up within 15 minutes on a SATURDAY! They thought it was going to be an easy fix, but we realized that the developer of my condo put the piped in an interior wall (long story) and covered them with drywall. They ended up going into the drywall, finding the hidden pipe and cap and cleaned it. They were here about 6 hours. I could not be more pleased with the excellent service. They even cleaned, swept, mopped and were so nice. I will be using them again. read more

Frank doesn't give in easily to an old house. Replacing a leaking water heater turned into so many more issues with water lines, rusty pipes, and pressures.. He was diligent and did not leave until all issues were resolved. He's especially adept at using a process of elimination prior to going to extremes. His response time is excellent. Today Frank came out to take pictures and video to check our sewer lines. We could not have asked for a better experience. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He took a lot of time going through all of the photos with us and reviewing the video. We even got a flash drive including the video to refer to in the future. These plumbers were working for my neighbors and parked right in front of a fire hydrant. I asked them politely to move their van across the street where parking was bountiful, but they retorted very rudely that there wasn't a fire and they didn't need to move. I tried to explain that it was illegal and I was trying to protect my neighborhood but they refused to move and told me to "mind my own goddamn business." they used profanity and broke the law while acting smug as if the rules didn't apply to them.I cannot attest to the quality of their work, only to their lack of professionalism. Seeing that there are many proficient plumbers in Chicago, I only suggest using these plumbers if you support profanity, law-breaking, rudeness, and unprofessionalism. read more
