I just had Nick come out to troubleshoot a water heater repair caused by a leak from a saddle valve…read moreabove my furnace heading to my furnace humidifier causing the pilot light to go out to to the pooling water and moisture at the base of the unit. The service team was able to fit me in same day by putting me on standby. Nick was able to diagnose, stop the leak, inspect that the leak had done no further damage, and ultimately get the water heater working within 5 minutes of his arrival. Better yet, he said it was a simple fix and did not charge me, but just asked that I keep them at the top of my list for my next job! Very friendly and presentable all the way. He also assessed my heater and said I probably had about another two years to go before needing to replace, and gave me a written quote for a new water heater and to replace the saddle valve with an angle stop. The angle stop cost was a bit high, but the water heater replacement was very reasonable (just being fair). I am definitely going to reach out to them for my next plumbing job.

For some reason, the moment I saw Andres' page, read some reviews, I had a good feeling about him…read more He was the FIRST of three quotes I requested. Because of MY scheduling conflicts, he was the LAST of three quotes I received. But as the saying goes.. "save the best for last". That statement couldn't me more true. I was lucky enough to watch him work and actually TEST what was going on BEFORE telling me how bad of a problem we had. The other two quotes I received saw the problem, tested nothing, and said they needed to excavate and because of that, the price was going to be way more. Their process was..."break the concrete, THEN rod the pipe to see if there's a clog", which would also be an all day job with a team. Andres insisted on rodding the pipe first, and that he'd be done in 20 minutes. He said IF that didn't work, (because he was going to test it again), THEN he would have to break open the concrete. I don't know about you, but that seems like a much more sensible option. He let me watch as he pulled all kinds of debris out of our kitchen stack drain. By the end, he had a nice sized pile, and water was flowing through there like Niagara Falls. He was done in 20 mins, as promised. Since he was there, I asked him if he had time to check our tenant's unit because they were having some drainage issues. He said he was trying to avoid rush hour, so why not? Lucky for us, he fixed another clogged drain, and a leaking pipe that we had no idea about! While we were talking, I asked him if he has a team he works with. His response: "No, I work alone because I don't trust other people to do good work and do it right". He also cleaned up after himself (you'd be surprised, but this is not always the case when people come work in your home), and I insisted on cleaning so he could leave, but he refused. He'll be back soon for some more work and I'm thankful to know we'll be in good hands. The world seriously needs more people like Andres. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Tai Plumbing installed a new intake valve for the city water connection to our condo building. They…read moreobtained the City of Chicago permit for this work and coordinated a repair date that required our condo residents, Tai Plumbing and the City to agree on a time. During the permit process Jordan of Tai Plumbing kept us in formed on the status of the project. We had been advised that the process may require the water being turned off by the City for as much as 10 hours. In the end, because of great coordination and cooperation of all parties the project was completed in about 4 hours. In addition they priced their service at a very competitive rate. I would highly recommend the quality professional work of Tai Plumbing.

I reached out to my brother-in-law, who does plumbing, and he said it was a fair amount. Still, he lives in another state and wanted a second opinion here in Chicago. I found VanderBosch because they ranked high on Google when I asked about the job. Actually, they had a whole blog post about the service and I learned a lot. Jordan called me back and let me run down the whole project and told me what they would charge. I walked away from the conversation really wanting to give the job to VanderBosch, but Jordan is a straight-shooter and told me that they couldn't finish the job as fast as his competitor (for boring, but significant reasons). So, this competitor to the initial company took the time to call me back, listen to my issue, give me the straight facts, and all because he was so focused on the well-being of a potential customer that in the end, couldn't even book his company. Why can't everybody be like this? This is some real "city of big shoulder" stuff from a Chicago-based company. In the end, I wasn't able to hire VanDerBosch, but they have a down payment on a future customer.

I first called Matt during the big freeze last winter bc I thought my kitchen sink was clogged. Other plumbers had agreed to come take a look and warned me the fix might be expensive. Instead Matt diagnosed right over the phone that there was a 99% chance my pipes were frozen and that I should wait until temps increased in a couple days to see if it went away. He said "I could come out & do a costly estimate & open the drain but I don't want to waste your money. If it doesn't fix itself when temps rise above 32 for a couple days, call me & I'll come right out." Even though he was slammed w calls bc of the deep freeze, he talked to me for several more minutes giving me pointers and general advice. Sure enough he was right! As soon as the weather warmed the sink was back to draining as usual. He saved me hundreds of dollars and also just did the right thing, unlike the others I called.
