We came here twice during our most recent stay in Washington DC. We appreciated the variety of sandwiches and thoughtfulness in the prices that reflected increased/decreased toppings. We also really appreciated the friendly service and staff members we came across during our time there. The first day I ordered an everything bagel with veggies and cream cheese -- I took out the bacon and the price of the sandwich decreased by $3. The second time I ordered an egg and cheese everything bagel with avocado and latke. The latke was just okay and didn't add much to my sandwich. The everything bagels were really good as well with plenty of seasoning but I think they were a little tougher for our taste (a perfect bagel would be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, but the inside was a little tough and the outside wasn't crispy). For a coffee, two bagels, tax and tip, we paid about $32, so they are a bit on the pricier side. But the staff are very kind to the community. The place gets super busy around 9 am, so we learned to just order online the next time and our food was ready within 15 minutes. Other people and us on the first day were waiting over 20 minutes otherwise for our food, which I know can be frustrating. Very popular bagel shop. read more

I go to church at NCC which is nearby so at this location, sunday mornings, they have always been insane. line out the door. the first time i wanted to come, i was like oh nawh, we not doing all that. But i made my bf wait this time around because i had recently gone to the old town location (much larger space, calmer environment) and i KNEW what wanted. SERVICE: We love a chaotic efficient environent. they have a well oiled machine and even though the line was out there door (really only because the spot itself is soo so small), it goes by fast. people know to have their orders ready to go. there was restroom access which was cool to see! typically in spaces THAT small, resturants don't offer that, so it was good to know. FOOD: FInally -- the thing that gave me the courage to see if the line was actually insane at this location: they have a sub YUCA BAGEL + pickled veggies and crunchy chicpeas and hummus as the protien. i try to avoid eating bread, so having the yuca bagel was the biggest flex. i believe the order is called the "hummus and avacado" under "lunch-y things". 1000/10. Went for Sunday breakfast after learning they have gluten free options! It's very packed with limited indoor seating. Ordering ahead online and enjoying at home is ideal for a weekend. I tried the one with the impossible sausage and was honestly surprised by how tasty it was. It had great flavor and didn't feel like you were missing anything by not having regular meat. My friend got the classic bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and loved it just as much. The place itself has a really cool 90s nostalgia vibe that makes it feel fun and unique the moment you walk in. The ambiance alone makes the experience better. The service was also great. Is this the best bagel i've ever had? Yes...it definitely is. Several people have told me about this place and I kept forgetting to try it whenever I was in town. I consider myself a bagel connoisseur and have had them all across the country and this is probably my favorite one so far. I had the seasonal cheesy garlic bread bagel with plan shmear and it was actually unreal. It was soft but chewy and the flavor was out of this world. I will be thinking about this bagel forever. I also ordered an iced vanilla oat latte and it was delish (and cheap). Service was great-- not too much chitter chatter and awkward convo which some breakfast spots tend to do. I am always on the hunt for the best bagel. I was stoked to hear about this place and got my usual. I had the maple salt and pepper bagel and it was pretty sweet, it would be great with meat I think. I have passed by CYM so many times and I've always wanted to stop by. I finally had a chance to try and I'm so glad I did. I went on a Thursday around 10 am. The inside was small but decorated in pretty pink and turquoise. There was minimal seating inside but they did have seating available in the patio area. The music playlist was good too ("Dilemma" by Nelly and Kelly was playing while I waited). The customer service was great and the gentleman working the register was really friendly. I ordered the Thunderbird and a chocolate chip cookie. The Bagelwich had a lot of great flavor and was bigger than I expected. The cookies are made fresh daily and it was easily one of the best cookies I've ever. I would absolutely go back. I should probably mention that since it was off peak hours when I went, it was easy to find a parking spot but parking is usually not easy in that area from my experience. read more

I was in a rush and the staff here were very helpful. I wanted to try this before I left and the cashier suggested bagels that were readily made. It made my day. Pictured is the Mountain View which is ok to me. I'd expect a bit more flavor. So far I've really enjoyed the thunderbird. Their food comes out piping hot and the bagel bread has a very nice texture, almost like eating an auntie Anne's pretzel where the outside has a smooth crisp and the inside almost has a nice chew. Today was my 2nd visit to this location (2x in 1 week). Usually, I go to their GA Ave location but I appreciate not having to wait in a long at this Barracks Row location. My go-to is The Royal Palm. It is consistenly good! The bagel has great consistency and taste...they do bagels very well. I always order ahead on their website and I appreciate that the service is quick and friendly. I was reading a great review about their chai latte so I splurged for that today and opted for the oatmilk (+$1). Their colors are cute and today the music was excellent when I picked up my order. This morning, it appeared that they were preparing a large order but they still did so with quick and friendly service. Call your mother is a quirky vibrant shop with the cutest neon graphics, limited seating inside, and a few outdoor picnic tables. This time I tried the Queen's Point which may be my new favorite. The veggie cream cheese is flavorful and pairs well with the bacon and jalapeno spicy kick. I also love the cheddar bagel its served on. I also had a honey lavender iced latte that was just okay, was not super flavorful. Obsessed!! I'm new to the DC area and when my friend suggested grabbing bagels for breakfast, I was super excited but doubted whether it would live up to bagels I've had in NY. I got a hidden cove and bacon sun city but they gave me a queen bagel instead of the hidden cove. We went early so we did not experience the long wait as other patrons have mentioned! There were a lot of different options to choose from. The bagels were a bit pricey, but pretty delicious. The bagel shop does not have inside seating, but the shop opens up to a beautiful lobby of an adjacent hotel. There are plenty of outdoor seating for summer days! I work nearby so I popped in when they weren't too busy, just got a plain ol bagel and cream cheese with a cold brew. The service was relatively quick although I can tell they had a lot of takeout orders. My coffee was mostly good although I could tell it was underextracted--seriously stop making cold brew if you can't let it actually brew. The bagel was also pretty mediocre which is disappointing because this brand gets a lot of hype. The bagel was too dense although it had a nice flavor, and the cream cheese was just fine. I don't like doing a whole lot to my bagel (i.e. sandwiches + fancy schmears) so I will personally be continuing to go to Bethesda Bagels for my bagel needs but the niche here is definitely maximalist bagelry if that's your jam. read more

The Thunderbird is the best bagel sandwich Ive ever had. The combination of the maple bagel with the salty chicken sausage and spicy honey/jelly was perfect. It is a little messy with the spicy honey so make sure to grab some napkins. I ordered my bagel without american cheese and there was an upcharge for removing the cheese I went on a Monday at noon and there were only two people ahead of me ordering and a few waiting for their orders. It still took about 20mins to get the bagel so I think ordering ahead is the best option so it's ready when you arrive- especially on the weekends when there's a line out the door. There are a few seats inside and a couple of tables outside but they'll fill up quickly if it's nice out so plan on taking the bagel to go. read more

My custom bagel from Call Your Mother was just the morning fuel needed before starting a home renovation project. I recommend placing your order online... they were pretty busy during my Saturday visit. I don't eat eggs or meat so the Impossible sausage was the prefect option. Finally made it here as the line wasn't crazy out the door. Good Barracks Row breakfast option for a quick meal. They have several picnic tables out front.
