D.C. isn't known for its bagels. NYC will always take the cake. However, Bullfrog Bagels is a decent bagel in D.C. Born on Capitol Hill, they now have a location inside Union Station. Open early, they sell toasted bagels with different sweet and savory spreads. They also have bagel sandwiches. I always get the toasted sesame bagel with honey walnut cream cheese or the sesame bagel with pastrami, egg, and cheese. They also sell drip coffee.

We got a sausage, egg and cheese bagel sandwich to share for the train ride. We ordered it on an asiago bagel, our receipt said an everything bagel, but actually it was on a rolled oat bagel. Disappointing! The sandwich itself was not bad but it had a lot of oil that pulled in the middle, which was kind of gross.

I rarely write negative reviews, as I just feel bad about doing it. Enough people take to Yelp/Google Reviews just to hate, that I feel like there's no need for me to do it as well. I also just don't like writing bad reviews in general. It doesn't light a fire in me. However, there are times where I get such a bad meal that I can't help but get inspired. Yesterday, at Bullfrog Bagels, was one of those times. I got off the 4 hour train from New York, hungrier for a bagel than Zion for some Fish Gumbo. I stopped at Bullfrog before leaving the station, and ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Avocado sandwich ($12). I went and sat at an open table outside of Shake Shack to dig in. When I opened my bagel, I literally laughed out loud in disbelief. As I peeled back the red and white checkered wrapping, I saw maybe 1 piece of bacon, half an egg, and a thin layer of avocado spread over a small, unappetizing bagel. It looked like one of those bagels you can buy in bulk at a Walmart. I'm fine with mid food, but when it's expensive and a mouse sized portion, I get sad. I feel like I just got ripped off. I understand this is truly my fault for getting a bagel without doing any research, but some times I just like to live life by feel. I just like to sail with the wind. It gives me a small dose of freedom. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Located inside the Union station which is air conditioned and gorgeous. I thought the service was ok. The bagels sounded good on the menu but I wish they were better. They are not bad just not as good as I thought they would be. But it's a nice option to have.

Bullfrog Bagels Cafe just opened February 1, 2025 at Washington Union Station. Customer Service was very good and helpful! They all were super nice l! Everything was bright and pretty; you couldn't help but to stop by and check it out! I ordered the Tuna melt w/ Chips on the side... Tuna was a little bland but nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix! I also added lettuce. What's a sandwich w/o lettuce? I do recommend have more Turkey products for breakfast menu. Also Vegan options

While the bagel was good, there was unfortunately a long dark hair in it! Overall, the restaurant should work on the hygiene practices...

The shop does get very busy and there is not much seating. It's best to take the items to-go. There will also be a constant line, but I find my wait time start to finish is less than 10 minutes on most days. Their bagels are fresh daily and the egg and cheese bagels are packed full with freshly prepared ingredients. I've had their lox and scallion cream cheese many times and they will put 2x the amount of cream cheese to lox - you may want to request for them to go light on this if you like to have more balance. I would also say that for butter on bagel you might want to ask for it on the side. I say this only because the melted butter is everywhere inside the wrapper and can drip out. I love their iced coffee and the fact that they always have simple syrup on their self-serve station. It is a milder coffee which I enjoy.

I had a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. As a Jersey girl, I have never had a bagel in this area that beats the ones from home, but this came as close as I think I am going to get. The outside was crisp and the inside soft. The cream cheese was delicious. I definitely will be back to explore the rest of the menu sometime. I will say the shop is small, so you may not be able to sit down and eat your meal when it gets busy. Plan to take your items to go!

I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos, bursting with flavor! Bun'd' Up - Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! Urban+ade - Refreshing lemonade with less sugar than classic lemonade. The Sage & Tarragon is my favorite! Veg Heaven - Decadent sweet treats, the dark chocolate cookies and brownies are the best! While the cakes are moist, they aren't as tasty. Taco Loco - Giant burritos are amazing! There's a swarm of people waiting in line, so be prepared to wait 10-15 min before ordering and then another 5 min for your order! The mango and watermelon juice are refreshing. Hipp Sippin' - Cold-pressed juices and acai bowls made to order. Ravenhook Bakery - Great selection of freshly baked loaves of bread and baked goods. DMV Empanadas - They sell out fast! While the empanadas has a nice crispy hard shell and with so many flavors to choose from, they are a bit bland and overloaded with bland cheese. The Spinach and Cheese or the Bacon and Cheese didn't quite hit the spot, hubby like the Chicken. Al Volo Cucina: While I wasn't a big fan of the greasy eggplant parm subs. I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming. Great for a date, a group, or even just sitting at the bar solo with a good beer and good conversation with the bartender. This place has earned its reputation as one of the best beer bars on the East Coast -- and then some. Highly recommend making a full night of it with both floors. You won't regret it.
