Wow! This is so *cool - a legitimate ice-cream shop & so close to home!…read more We were greeted not only by an amazing aroma - but also by Sasha who helped us at the counter. They feature several different varieties of waffle cones, sugar cones and cups for ice cream. The cases were loaded with a wonderful selection of Umpqua Ice Cream, and they offer many toppings!

On 15/13/24, I stumbled upon Kalama Cone in Kalama, Washington. This is a a family owned business…read morethat opened August. 2023. The store features regional ice creams brands: Umpqua, Cascade Glacier, and Tillamook. They had 16 flavors including Old World Spumoni, Cranberry Cheesecake, Kona Coffee, Marionberry Pie, Maple Nut, and Huckleberry Heaven. I ordered a Kid's Cone of Old World Spumoni because it is a flavor that is hard to find. In fact, it had been decades since I last had it. The ice cream cone size was generous. This was my first time trying Umpqua Ice Cream. It was pretty good. The customer service from Michael was excellent! The store interior consists of two rooms and a window facing counter. There's also a bistro table outside. The tables and chairs were made by the owners. Whether you live nearby or are looking to take a break from highway driving, this is a nice stop. The ice cream is good, but not great. I wish they were selling Snoqualmie Ice Cream or Acme, both of which are made in Washington and are far superior to all three of the Oregon branded ice creams Kalama Cone sells. If I had an ice cream business, I would stay away from selling ice cream brands that can be found in most grocery stores. I say that as someone who drove an ice cream truck one summer. The items that sold best were those that weren't readily available elsewhere and cheaper to buy directly. I have pictures of the ice cream in the case, but I wasn't able to get a picture of my cone because I was traveling alone, my hands were full, and I didn't have a way to take a photo without risking dropping the ice cream. This place is a massive, nostalgic treasure trove! It's part convenience store, part candy land,…read morefeaturing everything from fudge and unique knick-knacks to one of the coolest energy drink selections I've ever seen. They even carry Faygo, which is a rare find here on the West Coast. It definitely has a nostalgic ambiance while being just modern enough. Its also at the end of the strip (or start depending where you park) which makes it convenient. While the ice cream selection is huge, the ordering process is a bit of a puzzle. You're required to pay at the register before you even pick your flavors, which is at the end of the long counter. You pass all the ice cream to get there which leads to a lot of confusion and some "line tension" among customers. It's also worth noting that they don't offer samples-which is a bit of a bummer considering how many delicious options there are! If you can navigate the at times chaotic line, the treats are worth it.

Within seconds we were treated with outright disrespect by an elderly woman near the salt-water taffy. She immediately started shaking her head at us and then made multiple inappropriate and disgusting comments -- within less than a minute: - "Is this an insane asylum or a sane asylum?" - Telling my 12 year old daughter and niece to "close their legs and keep them shut." Speaking to CHILDREN like that is beyond inappropriate--it's disturbing. As we were walking out she went behind the counter and started opening & shutting cabinets as loudly as she could. We didn't even stay a full minute before leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we were. No family should ever be made to feel like that walking into a business. If this is how customers, especially kids are treated, then Scoopers doesn't deserve anyone's business. We will never be back.
