This is a townie dive bar no doubt. I've stopped in here a few times over the years because dive…read morebars are my kind of place. Dark as midnight when you open the door. Pretty big place although there was only one old geezer (besides me) sitting there watching the door at noon... and already feeling no pain. Oddly or perhaps not, I have never seen a Biker in here. There's usually a dozen or more Harleys as well as sport bikes parked on the main drag but this gin mill doesn't seem to be favored by them. Or perhaps visa versa? I've read the reviews where patrons felt like the locals didn't want them there. Never had that problem or at least not to my face. I like the place alright. I wouldn't want to have my wedding reception here but it's a good place to stop for a brew. The food is surprisingly good although I wouldn't stray too far from the bar food standards... sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips. They have an extensive pizza menu although I've never tried one there. It's a club sandwich or a burger for me. They have a LoggerBurger that is not for children and you definitely won't be hungry once you're done, assuming you can even finish it. Wait staff experience has varied. No complaints on this go-around. They have a little outdoor patio which is where you'd want to head if it gets noisy inside (or if you don't care to eat and drink in a dark cave). I can see why Prius owners might not like this place much. I've been to better myself. But it's better than "ok" if you are a greasy Biker like me hence the four stars. I've never been here after dark but the place has the vibe where you might want to just sit there quietly lest some townie take offense at your presence and things could go sideways quickly. Or not. Just seems like the type of bar where you could find yourself in a fight without trying very hard. Full bar that caters to serious drinkers. Colorado Koolaid on tap for me but you could definitely get hammered here quickly if that's your objective.

Our server first came out and said it'd be a little bit of a wait. We ordered two rounds of breadsticks and drinks then our main meals. She got drinks out fairly quickly but then all of a sudden our server just left. No saying goodbye or anything. We sat there for over an hour and a half! Never got asked if we wanted refills on drinks or anything. The kids and I asked for pickles and only one of us got any, there was no server in site to ask for any. One of us got a western burger and at the end on the plate there was corn? Then it came down to paying. I had to run around and look for someone to take my money, they said they don't collect money from outside or up front and I'd have to ask the bartender to cash me out. I ended up waiting over 10 minutes at the bar just to pay... It was overall a horrible experience and I don't think we'll ever be back. I never make reviews but I figured I'd save other people the frustration and disappointment

We recently moved to the area and tried The Black Iron Grill for the first time on May 28, 2026,…read morecoming in the early afternoon for a late lunch. My husband and I came in through the back/side door to dine in, and our server, Kris S. (per receipt 5EGX), told us to sit wherever we wanted. There was only one other customer inside, so the restaurant was not busy at all. There weren't many customers sitting outside, either. We sat for about 15 minutes while Kris walked past us to assist an older gentleman who was dining in at roughly our 10:00. During this time, she never once stopped to ask if we wanted anything to drink or even acknowledge that we were waiting, yet she made multiple trips outside for reasons that were not clear. At one point the gentleman asked if he could fill his water bottle, and instead of simply helping him, Kris loudly shouted directions across the restaurant to tell him where the water station was. This went on for about 30 seconds and was quite a spectacle. After about 15 minutes, Kris finally came to our table and asked if we wanted something to drink. My husband said we were ready to order as well. Her response was snotty and dismissive--something along the lines of, "Well, I like to get your drink order first, and then we'll get your food order." After that rude interaction and the lack of basic hospitality, I pretty much lost my appetite and, honestly, if I could go back in time, we would have just left at that point. Unfortunately, we did stay and ordered food. The food eventually came, but I couldn't really eat mine because the entire experience had put such a bad taste in my mouth and I lost my appetite. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and said it was awful. We got to go boxes so as to not cause a scene, but we threw the food away as soon as we got home. Between the poor service and the disappointing food, there is nothing that would make us want to come back. I was surprised to see the good reviews for this place on Google, because our experience did not match them at all. It honestly makes me wonder if the positive reviews are mostly from bar regulars, friends, or acquaintances who might be getting different treatment than new customers. We are locals now, but unfortunately The Black Iron Grill will not be receiving any more of our business. My husband and I have lived in small towns all over this country, and we see the same pattern of predatory behavior from certain businesses: bad or apathetic service while taking advantage of locals who have fewer options and lower incomes, knowing many people can't easily drive out of town for alternatives. We're not in that position, so we choose carefully where we spend our money--and we don't have to spend it on bad service and bad people. Let's call this what it is: this was a woman on a power trip, making sure we knew who was in charge and that we were at her mercy as customers. To further highlight the predatory nature of this place, they charge $3 just to split a meal (on top of already marked-up food prices--this isn't Pelican Brewery on the coast). Given how hard times are for people these days, with inflation and everything else, and given that not everyone is a business owner, it's shocking you'd treat your community this way. We don't believe these people are clueless; we believe they are selfish and vain. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend The Black Iron Grill and would encourage others to think twice before dining here.

The charcoal preparation and the months long bulgogi marinade were apparent and appreciated. We got the bulgogi, the hot-dog cheeseburger, and the kimchi burger. We loved them all but if I had to rank them, that's the order right there! Ambiance is cozy and approachable. The flavor experience was so out of body, it was hard to remember where I was. As a self proclaimed clam chowder connoisseur I take the hunt for delicious clam chowder throughout…read morethe PNW coastal area very seriously. Each beach town my husband I travel to, I spend far too much time reading reviews about clam chowder. If only I spent as much energy in other areas of my life as I do "internet-researching" clam chowder, who knows what I could accomplish. I must say that the clam chowder at Werner Beef & Brew is exactly what I have been hunting for. It is the perfect texture and consistency. It has a spectacular balance of clam to potato ratio, and the potatoes are cooked to perfection. They don't have too much bite, nor do they disintegrate into mush the moment they enter your mouth. The chowder itself was worth traveling from Rockaway to Tillamook for. It was even worth a more industrial view vs. an establishment with a more coastal and picturesque backdrop. The salad bar was on point. The variety of salad add-ins, dressings, and topping crunchy-bits were epic. It was a nice balance to the very rich perfect chowder I am already missing. I miss it. I miss the chowder. My husband also got the fish tacos, based on others' reviews and enjoyed every bite. I enjoyed their Dragon Fruit Cider, and he ordered one of their Meaty Bloody Mary's. If you are on the fence if you should order one, you should. You should get that bloody mary. The bloody mary then led us to purchase some of their salami and bologna. It was an elevated version of the sandwich meat my grandpa used with white bread, yellow mustard (off-brand), ice burg lettuce, and a slice of cheddar cheese. Mid-life has me craving nostalgia. It might be the hormone imbalance, but salami white bread sandwiches, here I come.

I have gotten the breakfast burrito when having breakfast and would characterize it as large, yet underwhelming in taste. None of the beers that i have tried are particularly memorable, but they are very drinkable. The service is courteous and they strive to keep the tables clean. The ordering here is done at the counter and I have found this to be a great way of taking orders in a casual establishment. This allows one to peruse the menu at a table at one's own speed, then walk up to the counter to ask any questions about the menu and then place the order. My experiences have been that the employee at the register has always been patient, informative and respectful. They bring your order to your table when it is ready. My experience is that they give you a conservative estimate of the time for preparing and the real time has been shorter. Note that I think they do a good job with turnaround times given how many customers are in the restaurant combined with their apparent significant take-out business. My dinner experiences have been very satisfying and that is what one would expect from a meat purveyor. However, they do not fumble the ball on the execution. Casual food, but tasty. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating: plenty of both. Part of the outside seating is heated and covered during much of the year. I have never been there when you could not choose a table. I think a great casual stop, and a unique one, when visiting the Tillamook area.
