I love to visit this little place when I come to visit Veronia. Great service and food.

I'd earmarked The Black Iron Grill as a place to stop for lunch in Vernonia, but things didn't quite work out that way during our recent visit; instead, we stopped in to grab a couple drinks, and enjoy the sunny weather on the (dog and kid-friendly) patio, which was clean, well-shaded and spacious, and boasting a (presently unneeded) firepit. Our server, whose name I have shamefully forgotten, was awesome, and not just because of her incessant fawning over our (admittedly adorable) 10-month old son; she was also exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Feeling a bit basic, apparently, my wife had a Long Island, and I ordered a Jack & Coke, both of which were nice and refreshing on such a warm afternoon. While nursing our drinks, I spied, with envy, a couple of mouth-watering burgers served up at a nearby table, lamenting the fact that I wasn't hungry, having recently eaten elsewhere, and kicking myself for it. Next time! Beyond the restaurant itself, there's also an attached bar (Bear Creek Pub) and coffee shop (Black Bear Coffee Company), which explains the three separate menus, one for each; if you leave this place without a solid caffeine or booze buzz, you're doing it wrong. Unfortunately, we didn't have a full dining experience, so it's difficult to rate The Black Iron Grill with a full set of relative metrics, but after our (tragically brief) interlude here, our appraisal of this rustic restaurant is that of a well-oiled machine...or maybe "a well-greased grill" is a better metaphor, considering those delicious-looking burgers for which I am absolutely returning, the next time we're in Vernonia.

I walked in and quickly enjoyed the comfortable ambiance, I appreciated the simple decour. I decided to order the country Fried steak. Honestly I was genuinely impressed with the service and how quickly my food was brought to me. As expected the food was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Hopefully I'll be able to come back and try the prime rib before my trip ends.

It's fine, not a lot of options. Just don't expect a lot. Just get tacos and sit by the fire pits

Pretty big place although there was only one old geezer (besides me) sitting there watching the door at noon... and already feeling no pain. Oddly or perhaps not, I have never seen a Biker in here. There's usually a dozen or more Harleys as well as sport bikes parked on the main drag but this gin mill doesn't seem to be favored by them. Or perhaps visa versa? I've read the reviews where patrons felt like the locals didn't want them there. Never had that problem or at least not to my face. I like the place alright. I wouldn't want to have my wedding reception here but it's a good place to stop for a brew. The food is surprisingly good although I wouldn't stray too far from the bar food standards... sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips. They have an extensive pizza menu although I've never tried one there. It's a club sandwich or a burger for me. They have a LoggerBurger that is not for children and you definitely won't be hungry once you're done, assuming you can even finish it. Wait staff experience has varied. No complaints on this go-around. They have a little outdoor patio which is where you'd want to head if it gets noisy inside (or if you don't care to eat and drink in a dark cave). I can see why Prius owners might not like this place much. I've been to better myself. But it's better than "ok" if you are a greasy Biker like me hence the four stars. I've never been here after dark but the place has the vibe where you might want to just sit there quietly lest some townie take offense at your presence and things could go sideways quickly. Or not. Just seems like the type of bar where you could find yourself in a fight without trying very hard. Full bar that caters to serious drinkers. Colorado Koolaid on tap for me but you could definitely get hammered here quickly if that's your objective.

I'm no specialist but when it comes to FnC it seems only few spots know how to get the batter right without drying out the fish. If you're in the Nehalem area you gotta try it.

Sounds like fun and tasty so we left early on Saturday morning. We splashed in and played for a few hours. After getting out of the water we walked to the food cart restaurant on the bank of Nehalem river. When we walked up there was a sign "Waiting Time One Hour". Ok! It's a three day warm winter weekend so many people headed to the coast. We ordered beer and chatted away the time. This is a good food cart, outside seating on the river on the sunny day. The cart is associated.with the roadside store in the downtown. The back of the store has a covered deck with tables in case it rains. Prices are high, for three piece halibut with a dab of coleslaw and overcook cold french fries was $32. My friend had the three-piece cod for $26ish. My friend really wanted to try this place and she enjoyed the cod. I, on the other hand, have had better with Moore sloth and fries at other places on the coast., But you're here, right. You're on a mini vacation, just enjoy the warm winter day and nice food.
