BEWARE!! Do not believe these positive reviews!! This place is horrible. I called for a simple tub handle replacement. They charged $250 PLUS $100 for part (handle!). That's not the worst of it. They installed the handle upside down, left a pool of water on the bathroom floor and the repair man wore his dirty shoes and tracked dirt on our carpets. Last but not least he did not seal the plate behind the handle which has now created a leak down to my first floor. Using this company for a simple replacement has costed my family $1000's of dollars because of the leak. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, BEWARE!!!!!! Having lived in Camarillo for over 35 years, I have kept a close eye on Camarillo Plumbing and Paint. I have watched how they continually work in and with the community, supporting whomever and however they can. I have watched how this family owned business has given so generously to so many, and how the present times have forced them to make cuts that they cringe to make. The Haunted House? that was put on my them soley!...staffed and paid for for years...the contributions? given always to high school programs! when word got out that they were making good donations...the City wanted to start charging fees...to get a piece of the action. That, the present recession, all of it has contributed to making this family work harder to do their business...but harder to be able to give as they love too as well. I use them every chance I can because I know what these guys put into their community and their work. That is enough for me. Sorry to those that had negative experiences. Chances are if you called them back and explained what happened they would bend over backwards to make the situation right. Chances are at this point as well...they have in someway contributed to your overall wonderfully pleasant experience of living in Camarillo. Plumbing issues by their nature are scary. The plumber, Dan, was quite late, citing "emergencies." We had removed the tub stopper that works inside the drain. He removed hair from the drain, told us that fixing the stopper would eventually lead to having it get stuck in the drain, forcing us to remove the tub to release the plug. He suggested getting a plug that fit in the drain.Most of us could have done this without any help.I put the stopper in myself and reassembled the cover after he left. He also put a new wax seal and caulked the toilet and also warned us about dangers of failing to replace a hose. The total price for this was over $400. We have used their services many times over the last 30 years and while they are consistently expensive for the work they do, they have not left us feeling this overcharged and under-serviced before. read more

Went in here for a quick trip to buy a splash guard for our garbage disposal. He checked his store and computer to see if he could order one for me. Unfortunately he couldn't and all the ones he had were too large. He did tell me that a local store 2 min away would more than likely have the part and he guessed at the manufacturer. He was correct on the manufacturer and the store. Thanks for being knowledgable and helping a girl out by pointing me in the right direction. My recent experience with Camarillo Plumbing and Paint was excellent. I had a problem with a shutoff valve that services a backyard waterfall. The appointment set up process was flawless. Kudos to Leslie on that front. The plumber (Matt) showed up when scheduled, got the job completed in less time than estimated, and gave me instructions on when I could turn the water back on. Unknown to Matt or me, my city main service had its own leaky shut off valve that resulted in water pressure in this repaired line that resulted in one glue joint failing to set. When I discovered this leak the morning after the original repair, Matt responded to my Memorial Day emergency call and helped me diagnosis the problem over the phone, find the leaky valve at the city main, and find a hidden irrigation system shut off valve on my property that I never knew existed (we all thought shut off could only be done at the city main). Matt returned today to redo the job. Keep in mind the redo was totally due to the city main leaking on the city side. Matt's original work was perfect. I did not consider the redo to be Camarillo Plumbing's problem or responsibility, and I had to argue with them to charge me for the redo as I did not think it at all fair to make them eat the charge as a warranty repair. The redo charge was very fair. So, all in all, a great experience from start to finish. Oh, on top of all of this, Matt helped me get the City to come out on Memorial Day to inspect the leaky mains shut off valve. The City is coming out to make that repair this week. I would not hesitate to use Camarillo Plumbing again, inside or outside work, if I need a plumber again. read more

I called Camarillo Plumbing and Paint because there was a water pressure issue in my new house, well, new to me. They estimated someone would be out in about four hours. About 30 minutes later, someone called me from the office and told me that a job was canceled and the plumber could be at my place in about 20 minutes if I was ready for them. Very nice surprise! When he came out, he checked out the pressure regulator and the main meter. He informed me that someone almost closed the valve at the meter and now we should be fine. He was right, pressure was excellent. He was there for about five minutes and did not charge anything at all. It is not often that you get that kind of service. I would have expected that I would have at least been charged a dispatch fee, but that wasn't the case. Since then, I have purchased a variety of supplies from their store and every time I visit, Jason from the store staff is always there and very nice to deal with. read more

I have used Camarillo Plumbing and paint for 30 plus years and was always happy until the last few times I used them. Leslie, the girl that answers the phone is so rude. Last time she was rude and didn't call me back when she said she would, I had to call her twice. I called them out this week and they were over an hour late. She didn't seem to bother by the fact that they were late, when I called she offered no apologies. She told me on the phone that the work was warranties for a year. I just looked at my invoice and it's warranties for 30 days. I always recommend them when anyone asked me who I used, but I won't be anymore and I will now need to find another plumber. I told them last time I used them how rude Leslie was and I thought they would talk to her. She is going to lose them business, she's lost them mine and I will not recommend them anymore read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMERS SERVICE!!! I have been to this place several times and have had some of the worst experiences with the guys at the counter. Today I tried to return an item I purchased in 2013 and the guy wanted nothing to do with it. Unfriendly from the get go and he gave some POOR excuse that there were parts missing....off of a hose! I try and keep my $ outta big box stores and keep them in my community and look how ungrateful they are. I don't know if this guy was lazy or what but at least be nice about things. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone, I will tell my experience to everyone I can and will never shop here again. Go to B&B, they are 1000% friendlier. I made a service call at 1030 AM on a Sunday so they can come and take care of an over flowing drainage problem. Girl on the phone said they would have their Tech will call me in 30 mins .never did. 1 hour later I called again and ask if A tech would be here the at all? Same girls on the phone didn't seem to have a slights' clue nor care. All she told me was that she will call the service tech once again. 30 minutes later 12pm .later my boss told be to call again I wasn't sure if it was the same girl or not. So I ask her are you guys open today? and she said" no we are not".....then I said what about for emergency? She was like "yes maybe"...then I told her I called at 1030 am and no one has came? She apologized but didn't guarantee me a tech would be over. Around 130 pm I called and a guy answered. He apologized and told me that he will get a hold of the tech and have the tech call me? By this time Im wondering what is going on at their answering station. They oblivious don't know where their techs are or if they are even showing up at sites.. Since 1030 AM I had been vacuuming sewer water in a wet/dry Vacuum. Till 3pm till my boss called different Plumber Company...Camarillo plumbing never came that day. I understand that it was a Sunday. And they probably had couple people working, but. No one returned my call....no tech. no one in the office. I am going to make sure the company I work for does not call Camarillo plumbing ever again. They failed on us to many times. I don't blame it on the techs I blame it on the people taking the calls..for not dispatching correctly and following up on customers problems. This place is sad! I am a big believer in shop local. I went in to ask for some basic questions and advice and the response I got from the plumber was "well what have you bought here?" He insinuated they don't give out advice for free. I've shopped at this place for years and since I didn't buy anything this time, they wouldn't even give me advice! We have had the pleasure of working with this shop many times. They replaced our heating and installed air conditioning and have fixed a few emergency plumbing situations and a gas leak!!! There are extremely professional, CLEAN, and always on time. Referred to family and friends and they all had excellent experiences. They even have a nice lady call to say they are on the way. Called to have someone come see what was wrong with my garbage disposal. The charge was about $49 for the service call and would be applied to the cost of repair. It was not stuck and the other sink was draining just fine. I did not want to use draino on the garbage disposal side. Upon arrival I was asked if I put food down the garbage disposal. My answer was yes.The last thing was leftover oatmeal and was flushed with plenty of water but it started gurgling and did not drain. I was promptly told "You never put food down the garbage disposal!". To my surprise I asked, "Why would one purchase a garbage disposal if you could not use it?" Once again I was told " Because it clogs the drain". He then asked me for a plunger, which I retrieved for him. He plunged it for less than a minute and ran water through and reminded me "Never put food down the disposal". Well...I am not 12 years old. Have plenty of history working a garbage disposal and this was my first time in the history of garbage disposal use that I had this problem. So...no more food down the garbage disposal was absurd to me! Anyway...the cost for a 5 minute repair with me supplying the tool was $125!!! It would have been about $50 more had they not been kind enough to deduct the service call charge. It took longer for him to write up the ticket than it did to unclog the drain. Needless to say. I have learned something. Use the plunger before calling a plumber. I think the cost for a 5 minute scolding and the use of my plunger was a wee bit overpriced! EEK..is right. Never happened to me before but they actually called me and discounted the bill after I called to let them know I thought this was a bit high. I will have to update my rating and thank them for their time and courtesy in making things right. Now...$89 read more

Would not recommend for AC service. At last minute they came up with lame excuse and cancelled scheduled appointment on a Friday afternoon. Then tried to reschedule for weeks later. I scheduled the appointment 5 days prior, do not count on them to keep their commitments. read more

As a Camarillo resident, I really appreciate having this old school, no-frills hardware store at my disposal. I recently made my third visit to Cam Plumbing and once again the experience was positive. I would consider myself a handy person, however, plumbing is definitely not my specialty. That said, I recently had my garbage disposal fail and purchased a replacement online. I soon learned that the new disposal was much larger than the old. With this, I had to reroute and redesign the dual sink, dishwasher, and garbage disposal pipe configuration. As I've done with other projects, I took several smart phone pics of the existing setup and headed to the store. Once again, the gentleman at the counter was super knowledgeable and based on our brief conversation and review of pics, he hit the floor and began gathering exactly what I needed. Finished up our business and I proceeded home with a bag of pipe, glue, adapters and various compression fittings to tackle the install per our discussion and his instructions. It came together beautifully and I have to say, the plumbing looks professional grade. Great experience, will repeat. read more
