Stopped by this little food truck on our way home, not realizing the folks were actually cleaning up to close, but they took our order and prepared our food fresh AND offered us samples of other delicious items on their menu while we waited. Excelente! Went at 6pm to beat the crowd--waitress was friendly and made suggestions since my son-in-law had never been. Chips were just ok and salsa was very very hot and spicy--too much for my tastes! Large Shrimp cocktail was very tasty and enough for 3 of us to share. The appetizer complementary fish garlic soup was all garlic and no taste of fish but interesting . My mojo de a j o filet was not at all heavy on the garlic but mildly pleasant--I would have liked it stronger garlic but very flaky and tasted very good otherwise. My son in Laws plate was enormous with 4 large breaded shrimp and 4 large filet of fish strips --all very delicious. My son Had shrimp enchiladas which he absolutely loved and they were good with generous amounts of white cheese and a green salsa on top. Our 3 plates came with a yellow rice that was wonderful. We ordered the shrimp ceviche tostada and fish tacos. Both plates were delicious, and as lunch specials, cheap! The shrimp was fresh and the tostada was LOADED with it. They asked if the fish should be grilled or fried. I tried it fried and it was excellent--flaky and the batter was tasty. The restaurant itself is a bit on the dingy side and could stand a deep clean and sprucing up. The drinks were also pricey--a Mexican Coke was $3.50 and a Topo Chico was $2.50. Those prices could definitely be lower considering how inexpensive they are at other establishments. Highly recommend however, and I will definitely be returning. read more

Flavor was amazing in shrimp tacos! They were crunchy though which I have never had. Shrimp Diablo was AMAZING and had mozzarella cheese which was unique. The flavor was perfect although it could have been a tad spicier. Open late night so stop by if you're in the area! I'm giving it two stars only based off my experience with my order and appearance of the restaurant. It's a hole in the wall for sure that has an odd smell of dirty mop water. I used the men's restroom and to say it is gross is being nice. I ordered a large shrimp and octopus soup that have a very tiny amount of both shrimp and octopus. The soup did taste good - not delicious, just good. It is cold today and they have an outdoor heater with a propane tank in the center of the eating area. I might come back to sit at the full bar though - which I did not get to try. read more

Ole! Mas ceviche! Drove by, and saw the big "Mariscos" flags flying on Commerce street, and thought I'd pull in. We came in search of ceviche. I opted for the aguaschiles dish, which was shrimp, onions, and lots of lime juice served on cucumbers. I really enjoyed the chairs, which all had thematic images carved in them, and were brightly painted. They served up chips and salsa, both of which were made on site. The salsa was hot and flavorful lacked body and was on the runny side. The chips were corn tortillas that had just been fried up recently, and were still hot. There was Mexican boxing on television there, with a few families sitting together to watch it over dinner. The service was relaxed, and drinks weren't refilled very often. Well this is the case where the pictures are not what the reality actually is. First we sat at the bar, although they had service, they really didn't have service- how is this possible? Look a mexican cocktail is basically tomato, onion, cilantro & either serrano or jalapeno in a tomato based sauce but this place doesn't even add peppers.... to anything- not even the salsa?!?!?! Come on!!! The shrimp were small & tasted like the frozen shrimp I can cook @ home. My husband had their Pelado seafood soup- that was no bueno! They advertise lobster- they should specify that it is imitation. & putting a big piece of fish with the entire skin is soooo not right & it did not look appetizing. They gave me a tiny container of salsa and crackers. When another customer came in he got a bowl of chips. They never came to offer us chips after we asked for some. This is one of the best Mexican/Seafood restaurants in town! It is a little on the South side, however it is worth the drive. The grilled shrimp is perfectly cooked, and it goes great on a plate AND a michelada! The overall taste of this restaurant's menu is much similar to El Bucanero's! The prices of course are $4-$5 dollars cheaper. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who's in the mood for good old fashioned Mariscos! read more

The food was overall amazing! Great flavor and variety! Fresh and authentic! Then we went to cash out. The server charged us for extra lemon wedges but did not inform us of the extra cost. We were also charged for to-go containers!!! When asking for an explanation of the extra fees, the cashier stated all establishments charge for to-go containers and was rude about having to give an explanation. I attempted to call the restaurant manager but the staff stated they did not speak english and there was no manager. When I asked for a name, I was promptly hung up on. And as far as the drinks the first one was made with liquor and the second one had none I guess they like to bait and switch your drink from having alcohol to not having any on the second but want to charge you the same price. Great happy hour from 3-7p with $1-7oz Coronitas and pretty tasty margaritas also a buck. My wife got the garlic Talapia and I got the bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with Marlin and white cheese. OMGoodness! We enjoyed amazing service from friendly people who serve awesome food! We popped in here in a whim. They have such great items on the menu that it took us a while to order. While deciding they brought the usual chips and salsa but surprised us with a delicious Seafood Broth full of veggies. It was served with limes and crackers. We decided on A Fried Shrimp dinner and a Cheese Enchilada dinner. The Fried Shrimp dinner was 6 delicious, crispy, juicy shrimp served with crispy steak fries, a yellow rice with imitation crab meat and a side salad. The enchilada plate came with enchiladas, borracho beans and rice. all of the food was delicious. And I can honestly say that because we shared all the food. Our bill was 25 dollars but the extra canned soda added to that. I already added their address to my gps and phone. It was that good... I will be back! I went to this restaurant because of a ad on Groupon (Nov 17, 2011)... I started with the authentic Mexican shrimp cocktail which was great. It had a lot of flavor and i could taste each ingredient and it worked well. For my entree I ordered the shrimp, beef, and chicken fajitas and they were overdone and very nasty. They also give you a complimentary Soup with your entree. It was a Shrimp broth with bits of celery and carrots in it. i think it had been sitting there all day cause the shrimp I had in mine was so over cooked it taste like Tuna. The worst soup I have ever had. I told the waitress about my over cooked entree and she brought me out a fried combo of shrimp and fish and it was OK. The batter lacked flavor was a little plain. Mexico is know for its flavor and colorful culture and i saw none of it here. Besides the Tejano Band that started to play at 10pm I was not impress with this restaurant at all. The place is located across a pawn shop and you'll see some interesting characters walking around before you enter the restaurant but once inside you'll usually be greeted with a happy server. The fish soups are good here and the complimentary fish broth they serve you is very tasty. The Mexican shrimp cocktail is really good here and the fried fish and shrimp platter is pricey but good. I especially liked the fried jumbo shrimp that come in the 5 and 5 platter. So, so fresh and tasty! read more
