Saw this place on S.A. Foodie's page and decided to come out to try it (we went to the UTSA Blvd. location), and it did not disappoint. Since we ate a later lunch (around 1:30/2pm) it wasn't too busy and we were able to order and receive our food pretty quickly. The food truck park area is nice and there's plenty of seating and it's dog-friendly. The food was pretty good, though the birria tacos left you wanting a little something more. The flavor was good, but needed some extra "flare" if that makes sense. They definitely stuffed them with plenty of meat and cheese, though, so it's very filling! The ceviche was fresh, tasty, and refreshingly cold. It comes with tostada chips and crackers, and the portion is generous. Overall, it was good food and definitely worth a visit! read more

I was so happy to learn about EL Cevichero tuck in the center of City Base. I Was so pleased to have fresh ceviche. There are a variety of dishes and drinks to satisfy anyones appetite. I'm still wishing Yelp can offer a no stars option. Some places never fail to disappoint. Don't get me wrong food was bomb (from what they had left) but the service was really slow. Sometimes the service itself will remind you not to return to a place. It sucks that we visited two hours before closing and they only had one dish left. I've been coming to El Cevichero since they had their food truck at the block. I order the same thing every time ... Birria tacos. They have the best flavor and pair perfectly with the consome. They are pretty big tacos, and upon first glance, you might think three won't fill you up, but trust me, they do. Because the food truck is located in a food truck park, it can get very busy on weekends and sometimes take a while to get your food. However, this is understandable as they have 2-3 people working. Seating is also limited, which can be difficult since you have to wait around for a table. The great thing is that they give you a buzzer after your order, so you have time to go search for a table. I came here on a Saturday night and it was a 50/50 with the food. The quesitacos de birria were crispy and DELICIOUS! I could have eaten 10 of these. The mini tacos de diskada left a lot to be desired. They were soggy and the seasoning on the meat just wasn't doing it for me. Overall, I would order the birria tacos again if I was hungry and in the area, but I won't be going out of my way to come here. Similar to other Yelp reviews, we experienced an exceptionally long wait time on our food. I was expecting a little bit of a wait, I believe we were quoted 20 minutes, but it took ~ 50 minutes for our two orders of tacos to be ready. It wasn't busy and there was only two orders that were ahead of us when we arrived. Clearly something had gone wrong and either the order didn't go through or it got lost, because the employees kept poking there heads out to look at us and after about 35 minutes asked us what we had ordered. We got our food, eventually, but seeing as the quality was 50/50, I can't say that I recommend this place or will be coming back. read more

Customer service was great! Loved that they had music and seating while you waited on your food. My three queso-tacos missed the mark flavor-wise for me. Saw a recommendation for this place from SA foodie, and whewwww it didn't disappoint. Came here on a Friday night for food and live music. Advertised country music Fridays from 730-10. We ordered the Quesibarilla tacos which were amazing. 3/$10 with the dipping sauce and cilantro/onions/radishes for garnishes. We also saw it was BYOB but they also offer michelada mix for $15 for a large mason jar. I recommend bringing your own cups, limes, etc. but the mix is really good. The live music was also really good and it was a really cool, chill hang out with some awesome food. We plan on coming back soon! read more

If you like ceviche you MUST give this place a try! Been here three times and have ALWAYS enjoyed and we make it a point to come back every time we are in San Antonio. The Ceviche is always fresh and marinated to perfection. My favorite one is the hawaiian ceviche as it has pieces of strawberries that makes the fish flavor pop! The green ceviche is also good but a bit spicy IMO. The ceviche is served with fresh tostadas, saltines crackers and two types of hot sauces. The individual portion is $14 and is quite generous. There's a bigger portion but we like to stick to the individual sizes so we can each have our favorite flavor/style. They also have tacos and quesibirrias available. Apparently there's multiple locations but I can only speak for the one in cupples Rd. This is a BYOB location and is kept very clean. The owner is very involved and it's always making sure you receive the best customer service and have a great experience. This location only opens Thursday-Sunday. read more

Made an order for just some simple mini tacos. After paying I was told it would be 25-30 min. 50 min later I went to check if they had called my order and I somehow missed it. I ordered at 7:12pm and was told my order will be done in 40 minutes, I sat around until 8pm assuming I missed the call but didn't so assuming because it's busy I'll give them a few extra minutes. 9pm rolls around and I still haven't received a call , 9:12pm I get fed up and decide to go to the window to check on my food. The man at the window is like telling me that he doesn't have my order ( I have a receipt that sent to my phone) and that he has no flour tortillas that I had requested at the beginning. After arguing with the employees about not having my order done after 2 hrs, I gave up and took the corn tortilla plate, realizing that all the other customers were waiting more then 40 minutes as well. A few minutes past, while I'm eating my food, I get a call saying my food is now done. I told the guy what I said at the window and the cashier decided that she need to hope the phone call as well and have an attitude. Her response to me being upset about not getting food was to raise her voice and say COME GET YOUR MONEY! COME GET YOUR MONEY! So I told her to kindly F-Off because I'm trying to enjoy my food. My friends and I visited El Cevichero for birthday and it was amazing. The ambiance was very nice and the food was the best in San Antonio. I ordered the discadilla which is a quesadilla filled with discada. I have never had such great food in such a long time. The only downside is that because of their popularity the wait time is long and the small restaurant is packed. If they could manage to acquire a bigger space or even an outdoor seating area, I can definitely see service flow easier. Can't wait to go back soon!
