I had been lugging around 3 Macbook computers and several of hard-drives for over 10 years. One was corrupt, but I knew it has some photos on it that I had never recovered... the other two would barely start up, but again, I knew there were some photo libraries I wanted to recover. I FINALLY got around to researching if there was someone locally who could help me... and that's when I found Dan at Cambria Computing. As others have said... he was extremely knowledge, very kind & personable and reasonable with his fees. He even offered to destroy the old hard drives for me when he completed the work. And I walked away with 3 giant laptops worth of information on a tiny 2" x 3" solid state drive - amazing! While visiting the lovely little town of Cambria my cell phone started acting up and I couldn't find my search bar on the homepage. We found the Cambria Computing store on Main Street and Dan Cox was amazing at fixing the issue. Not only did he put my search bar back where it belonged, he updated several other needed things on my phone and also told me I was almost to capacity on my many thousands of pictures stored. I purchased a battery online for my wife's HP laptop and decided that I needed a professional to properly install it. I called Cambria Computing and was told that I could bring it in. When I entered the store at 9:30am I was told that it would cost $125 to replace the battery. I had hoped that it could be done quickly but he said that he would call me by the end of the day. When I returned home and told my wife the quoted price, we agreed that it seemed exorbitant and decided to call CC and ask that he hold off on installing the new battery. It was no more than 30 minutes since I had dropped it off, but he said that it was already done. When I called Mustang Computers in Los Osos to get a comparative price, I was told that if all went well with the installation then the minimal charge for 30 minutes service was $42.50. It was my fault for agreeing to the quoted price and doing business with this individual. When I went to pick up the computer and told him my story, he was unapologetic for his business practices. He's convinced that he is the best in the area, and he has disparaging comments about all of his competitors, laughing and smirking at the very thought of doing business with them. I blame myself for not taking the time to compare price and service for a simple battery installation. I hope that my story helps somebody else to avoid my mistake. As an aside, the owner was not wearing any face mask during a period of time when the SLO County Health Department was mandating masks for all indoor business. That should have been my first clue about his level of concern for his customers. read more

I gave this company a 1 star review because the owner is extremely rude. He helps our business and every time we talk to him he talks to us like we are dumb or do not know anything. We spent a good amount of money with his company on a printer and after a few months this printer breaks. Then we tell him that the printer we just bought from him broke and he blames us for it when he admitted that it was a bad printer. So he offers to bring us a new printer. Which is awesome. Well, we tell them the kind of printer we need and what we need it to be able to do. The printer he sends us does nothing that we needed it to do. So, we call him and we are really polite and understanding and inform him that the printer doesn't do what we need it too. At that point he becomes extremely rude and says he doesn't care he will not help us anymore. He refuses to honor his agreement with us, he refuses to give us our money back, and he refuses to bring us a new printer. He then hangs up on us and blocks our phone calls and tells us he is not working with us anymore. All we wanted was a printer that works and does what we need it to do. read more
