Bummed to report we attempted to resolve directly with management but they failed to respond so posting public reviews so others maybe can save the hassle and experience. Went for lunch on a Sunday. We sat in restaurant side. I ordered the Reuben and my wife got the patty melt. I was starving so choked down the food anyhow but have to say it was by a long shot the worse quality Reuben I had ever had. To be honest, it should not even be called a Reuben as it was served on I think what was Sourdough. The Patty Melt was not much better. Worse off, the service was horrible. So torn on this review! Came here on a Thursday, just as Dinner service started - right as the waitress unlocked the door. For some reason I thought I had seen that they serve breakfast all day - but when I asked she said that wasn't the case - however the chef offered to make breakfast anyways for us since that was what we had came for initially. Very nice of him! The dinner menu was quite small. We both ordered the chicken fried steak and there "tough bread" and a pancake for my son. The portions were hearty! The meat tasted good quality (opposed to Carols Corner Cafe that we had yesterday) the gravy could have used more of a flavor but all in all it was a great dish! The atmosphere and decor in here is a bit - strange. And as you enter the restaurant on the right side is a very noisy bar with a thick smell of cigarettes. The inside looks like a diner but the color scheme and tables along with the piano make it it's own look indeed. I feel like if I visited again this could be 4/5 stars! read more

My mother told me two things before she left for the circus- 1. When you grow older, remember to cut your ear hair. 2. To find the best breakfast spot, search for old people. I found the motherload of old people mom! You would be so proud! Cameo Cafe! The waitress refilled my coffee like 5 times, the country fried steak and eggs were the best I have ever had, and the portions were even enough to fill Kirstie Allie! I know, right!?! This place has a ton of seating and a really very funky design, but the best part is that you have the ability to sit outside under covered seating in a garden setting overlooking the golf course and a cage with beautiful parrots (which you will enjoy, unless you have seen fern gully too much). read more

Our go to breakfast place. Excellent Bloody Mary's, quality bacon, and amazing service, what more could you want. The staff there is always pleasant and accommodating anything you might want to adjust on the menu. We love the booth seating, but also on a sunny day their patio is terrific. There is absolutely nothing to complain about here. Always busy in the mornings but they seat you as fast as possible. Not so many people there in the evenings but honestly, their dinner is pretty terrific. I love the salmon, and my husband is very partial to their ribeye. come in the evening for a change, and be pleased with no wait. read more

Our first visit started a bit rough. We stood for about 3-4 minutes waiting by the cash register, unacknowledged by several employees. Finally we were greeted and offered a seat by the white piano. It was a Saturday morning and they were fairly busy. Still, it took an inordinate amount of time to get coffee and menus and even longer to place our order. Total time from arrival to finally getting food - 40 minutes. Fortunately the food was excellent. Poached eggs were perfect with runny yolks, hash browns crunchy on the outside, moist and tasty on the inside and lots of them. My chicken fried steak was huge! And the gravy; in a word - SPECTACULAR!!! The wife loved the raspberry sauce and her French toast and bacon was really good too. We liked it so much we came back the next day! We chose a table outside and were seated quickly. They had to towel it down because it'd been raining that morning, but that didn't take long at all. I had some fresh-squeezed orange juice (delicious!) and we both ordered up our meals when she came back: the skillet for me (scrambled eggs), and French toast for the lovely wife. I dig skillets. I don't know why, but there's something about the everything-is-represented flow of these things. Unfortunately more often than not I wind up hitting the bottom only to find out the entire thing has been swimming in oil the entire time. That wasn't the case here. The ingredients in my skillet were fresh, crisp, and you could actually tell what you were eating because they didn't mince them into an unrecognizable size. I ate a lot more than I should have - it was really tasty! Ivy had the French toast and said she would have enjoyed it more with syrup (her limitation, not the restaurant's). The decor was cafe-like but the outdoors area could have been a little bit neater - there were extension cords laying about and all the tables that were under the canopy seemed to have gathered water anyway. We'll definitely be going back, but maybe sharing a dish next time because the portions were so over the top. Good value though! read more

Our local neighborhood spot. We love coming here after an afternoon of golf at Green Meadows. The golf course abuts right up to it. There is a beautiful outdoor seating area that one of the managers plants all of the trees and bushes and maintains everything. They really do a great job to make it feel like your local family environment. It's also great for live music and the people that come here while they are regulars are very welcoming to anyone that wants to be here. read more

This was our first time out to eat since covid started and it was so nice to experience this place for the first time with my family for breakfast. We sat outside under umbrellas and the service was exceptional. Such kind and wonderful people here that serve very yummy food. The gold course and plants border the patio and create a nice and relaxing atmosphere. My husband had the beer battered fish & chips and we all loved it. My son ordered french toast with bacon and he is picky and he was quiet and cleaned his entire plate. I had the coconut waffle, 2 eggs over easy and 2 slices of bacon. It was delicious. The only thing I would have liked was coconut syrup to go with the coconut waffle and I could only finish half of it because it got a little too sweet for me, but that typically happens to me. Go give them a try if you haven't. They said they close in between breakfast/lunch time and then reopen at 4:30 pm for dinner. read more

My moms lemon for her water was hand tossed onto the table that felt dusty. Honestly would have had a better meal at the food court in the Costco down the road. Second time going here and just as happy. Today we sat in the lounge for brunch and had a great waitress and bartender. We ordered the 1/2 acre Strawberry Pancake and the Country Eggs Benedict to share. The waitress was so nice, she had them split the Benedict in the back and told us the full pancake would be wayyyy too much. I really liked their country gravy. Some places have really thick "gloppy"gravy, this was still thick, but not "gloppy" and good flavor. Greyhounds were cheap and view of the golf course was a bonus. The one star is for the food. It came out quickly, and was hot and tasted good. The missing four stars are due to the absolutely HORRIBLE service! The female server was incredibly and consistently rude and did not try to hide the fact that she was pissed to have a line waiting when she unlocked the door at 4:30. She made so many rude comments, but a couple of favorites are when she barked at us to "park it!" when we told her how many in our party. And no, there wasn't a single element of lightheartedness or humor in it. Two more people walked in and she exclaimed, "oh good god!" And, "I should lock the door!" Again, no humor. Her displeased facial expressions and impatient body language backed up her words Her table service was terrible. My companion ordered an Original Burger and she asked if they wanted cheese or bacon. The response was cheese but no bacon and she said, "you want a cheeseburger then," very clipped and very snotty. Another person ordered and she told them they were out of that item then immediately turned and walked away without asking if they knew what else they'd like instead. We were dumbfounded. We continued sitting there for at least ten or fifteen minutes then finally had to call out to her to come back. She didn't seem happy that we were interrupting her napkin duty. Terrible, from start to finish. There was an abundance of servers, but asked for orange juice three separate times to never receive it but still be charged for it. Everything was undercooked and anemic. Steak was cold in the middle. Egg whites on over medium eggs completely translucent. We would have tried to return the food but no one checked in on us and didn't seem to want to be flagged down. We used to love going to the Cameo when we were up in Vancouver. The food was plentiful and good, as was the service. For some reason the food quality has diminished somewhat. Perhaps bad economic times have forced some quality changes. The wait staff in the restaurant section have always been nice and efficient. No so much in the lounge. We were yesterday for a drink and couldn't get waited on at all. Apparently the bartender was out on the patio smoking and couldn't be bothered to come back inside and take care of some new customers she had. We finally decided to go into the restaurant (figuring at least someone would pay attention to us in there), only to find that it was shut down for some reason on a Saturday afternoon. (Kitchen too). We think the Cameo must be in some kind of financial trouble or something like that. At any rate we've reluctantly decided to cross it off our list of good places to eat in Vancouver. Too bad, we used to really like the place. I expect that some of the five star ratings on this place must Yelp stuffing from management or staff. Our recent experiences just couldn't warrant any kind of a decent rating at all. We have no ax to grind with the Cameo so our rating is based on our actual experiences. When it comes to bad restaurants, we vote with our feet. There are too many other good places to eat to bother with a place like this one anymore. read more

The place wasn't busy when we got there this (Sunday) morning, yet the service was the worst. No coffee refills - never an offer. We finally got up and got the coffee pot ourselves. One of my companions wanted the crab & avocado eggs benedict. "No crab - sorry." At 9 in the morning for a breakfast special? My other companion ordered the eggs benedict with sauce on the side. It came on the side, but was the wrong sauce and it was cold. I ordered the corn beef hash & eggs. Asked for fruit instead of potatoes. The waitress brought a plate full of fried potatoes with a few fried peppers & onions mixed in and scrambled eggs on top. When I told the waitress she'd not brought me what I wanted, she said, "Look in there, honey - you'll see the corned beef." Well, I'm not your damned "honey" and this ain't corned beef hash. Ok, owners of Cameo Cafe - here's a simple lesson in food: A few miniscule bits of leather-tough corned beef thrown into a plate of fried potatoes is NOT "corned beef hash!" The place was wicked busy by the time we left, so I'm not sure the owners care about this review, but I'll sure as hell never go back. read more

Great place for breakfast especially on the weekdays. We got a 1/2 acre blueberry pancake which was 12"+ across and hung over the edges of the plate for $4.99. They also make a homemade raspberry puree that was delicious on the pancake. They also didn't scrimp on the blue berries as you could get one in almost every bite. We also got eggs benedict and that was excellent also. The bread they serve is called strong bread with all kinds of healthy grains and seeds that taste delicious. It is specially baked for the Cameo Cafes. They also make their own hot sauce that was great on the eggs. If you care about your health and are into good food cameo is for you. They cook with extra virgin olive oil. The walnut sized light yellow lump on the pancake is REAL BUTTER. The syrup on the table is maple syrup not maple flavored high fructose corn syrup. The toasts are all soaked with real butter. We had so much food we took most of the toast to go and they were great the next day fresh out of the fridge. read more

But it took almost an hour to be served and although the waitress was nice, once we ordered, it almost seemed like she was avoiding us. No checking in, no explanations as to why it was taking so long. It started to feel like we had been forgotten. When the food did finally arrive the waitress quickly mumbled something about, "Thanks for being patient." but by that time I was beyond being patient and arriving at mad. As an aside, the coffee and the hot chocolate were not up to par with the rest of the food. It was a Saturday morning and although the place was busy, it was not packed. If someone had dropped by and said something about the wait and had given us an idea of how long it would be, I would have been a lot happier. At some point during a wait like that, conversation starts to lag because everyone is starting to wonder what's taking so long. Was the food good? Yes it was. I went to your restaurant this morning for the first time with my family to meet some friends for breakfast. We had a party of 10. We requested to be seated outside (there was plenty of open seating inside and out) and were refused. Staff then proceeded to squeeze 9 chairs (we had 10 in our party) at a round table that generally holds 6 chairs. We were so put off by the lack of accomodations that our party agreed that we would take our business elsewhere. Upon leaving the restaurant to go find an alternate place to eat breakfast, our friends son tripped in the parking lot and cut his head which required medical attention and stitches. I would never go back to this restaurant and am appalled at the lack of service provided by the staff. read more

First off if you want GREAT service this is not the place for you. We always wait and wonder even when its not busy how can service be this slow. But you need to consider the staff, they all can be your great grandmother. However if you want good breakfast food for the family I recommend this place. It has everything you want. The pancakes rock and you order them by the acre! Kind of a neat measurement. They have some of the best thick bacon that is not over cooked. Their hash browns are great. My wife and I take the kids for that weekend splurge when we don't want to cook. I order eggs and hash browns and my wife order eggs and fruit and we will order 1/2 acre of pancakes to share. Still WAY to much food but the kids will eat the pancake later for what we don't finish. The Strong Bread is a great healthy bread that has incredible flavor. Kids all love the pancakes, waffles and french toast. 3 kids and 3 different wants. Decor is extremely interesting. Old style diner crossed with a smoking lounge from the fifties. It works for them. Again if you are in a hurry or want great service this is not the place for you. Its good food for the price and if I go in knowing that I can overlook it. read more

I've been to Cameo a handful of times, all of which were for breakfast and have zero complaints. During my last visit I tried something new as I've recently sworn off the evils of gluten. Scouring their menu ahead of time I decided on the Bindaetteok (bin-day-tuck), playfully referred to as "The Duck" by employees. A Korean vegetable pancake made from a batter of ground mung beans and rice mixed with an assortment of veggies and served with a savory sauce. It was delicious and inspiring! Our server was a severe looking woman who was absolutely one of the rudest people I've ever met and I am a manager at McDonald's. She was nearly shouting the whole time, I feel as if that's her default volume, that could be excused, if that's the case. My friend ordered a Pepsi, no ice, and she seemed annoyed at the idea then. The annoyance was confirmed when she came back to take our order and said "what will you have Mr. No Ice". We were all in complete disbelief. When it came my time to order, she didn't know what came in the bacon cheeseburger "I don't know? The usual burger things" is what she said. She absolutely threw food and things on the table. It was absolutely ridiculous. The cherry on top of everything was that she was scooping the ice out of the ice bin with the cups we were about to use. If you know anything about food service, you know this is downright dangerous. I wish we would have had any other server, seriously. OMG! Took my parents there and for the price you get HUGE portions. We were seated quickly, the waitresses filled your coffee before it emptied, and the food was great. We sat by the window that looks out at the golf course that was beautiful. They have outdoor seating under cover and even an exotic bird for the kids to look at! I ordered the 1/2 acre and just about died. It was a blueberry pancake that was lovely with huge juicy blueberries that they did not skimp on..... It is my new fave breakfast restaurant in Camas.
