As much as I hate using the term "hidden gem", I think River Maiden truly deserves the title! We came by on a weekend before a hike and all I can say is WHAT A CUTE SPOT. I honestly adore the interior just covered in plants and greenery; such an inviting little space. There was a line when we entered but it moved pretty quickly which was nice. The menu was so so so tempting and honestly, I wanted a breakfast burrito but knew there was no way I'd be able to finish it before we hiked so I went with a breakfast sandwich instead. I love the plethora of options they have for vegans/vegetarians and omnivores alike. I got my sandwich with egg, vegan sausage, cilantro aioli, and avocado - I was initially worried the aioli wouldn't be strong enough or flavorful enough but it was perfect. A very good breakfast sandwich, filling too! You can also get it on an english muffin or on ciabatta which is a nice swap depending on your mood. My friends tried the breakfast burritos, loved them but agreed portions were very generous. We also grabbed a couple scones -- the lemon poppyseed and the marionberry. They were the size of my head but I definitely get the hype around the marionberry scones; would inhale one daily if I could :P Coffee was good and sadly they were out of matcha the day we went so I guuuess we just have to go back to get it! What a unique and absolutely delicious spot! From the outside it doesn't seem like much but upon entering, the space has so much character both from the brick architecture but mainly the decorations and plants. It completely feels like a PNW spot. I went twice in 2 days with a friend of mine and got the exact same thing both times, the sausage breakfast burrito. It was that good. By itself, stuffed with eggs, peppers, crema, sausage, potatos, and cheese, it was a hearty and tasty breakfast. With the addition of the salsas, it was a revelation. I got both the red and green and mixed them. Absolutely delicious. My first time there I also got a marionberry scone which was huge and really tasty. Came here with my friend just to try it out and the place is packed with plants and comfort. I believe they do have a gluten-free food but I did not try that this go. However, I did try the medium roast latte with whole milk and it was yummy!! My suggestion is gather your friends and come meet here for some fun. Coffee was delicious. Ambience OnPoint. Super cute coffee shop! I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. They serve Stumptown coffee, which is one of my favorites. Came in with a friend for breakfast around 9am on a Wednesday. They weren't too busy, but a few people at tables inside and outside. It's a decent sized coffee shop with plenty of tables in the windows on both sides of the building. Love all the plants inside. It gives it a welcoming, cozy vibe. Employees were friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered an iced coffee, frappe, breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. My latte was just "okay," and I was disappointed the WiFi wasn't working since I came in to get work done. When I asked, I was told to just wait 10-15 minutes and it would "probably come back." You enter one of two doors and then there was 2 lines when we got in which we don't know which one to line up on so we just left. Looks like someone needs to do some management work. This place is such a cool find! Tucked away in an old bank building with just a simple neon sign out front, the interior has a fantastic atmosphere. While I haven't tried the more formal food menu yet, the coffee was solid and the three different pastries we tried were all quite tasty. My only small critique is the layout; the ordering station is right in the middle, which makes the waiting area feel a bit chaotic and like you're constantly in someone's way. The day I went to River Maiden, I happen to drop off a delivery in Vancouver. My friend that was staying nearby, says he loves Vancouver, he loves coffee. He did a search on Yelp and found River Maiden. The day we dined here, it looked like there were renovations going on, so seating was a little limited. One of available tables hadn't been cleared of dirty dishes. The previous occupants must not realized that they should have bussed their own table. We sat at the only other available table. The table was wobbly. Shortly after we sat, someone vacated their spot and bussed their own table, so we moved there. The table was wobbly there as well. I ordered the Amaze Bowl. Brown rice and black beans topped with cilantro garlic sauce, avocado, pickled cabbage, sliced sweet peppers, roasted sweet potato, micro greens, red pepper pesto, and toasted seed blend. I asked if the sauce was vegan and I was assured it was. It was pretty delicious! I don't remember what my friend got, but I do remember that he enjoyed it. We enjoyed all the plants and art decor. This was our first stop at River Maiden and it was well worth it! The parking lot is a little undersized, but there is a lot nearby that works too. Inside was cozy, the plants made us feel right at home. Keep an eye out for the April plant swap! We ordered and only had to wait about 5 minutes for our coffee. Really enjoyed eating here. Very yummy food, a surprising variety. It is a little but pricey but not to a point of being unreasonable. The ambiance is really fun, there's plants everywhere so it makes you feel very cozy but it also has a sort of tropical bar feel like restaurants in Costa Rica had. There were even fliers about why you should vote yes on the library initiative. Which I love because I love places being involved in their community. I would probably come back. read more

Great coffee, very chill environment, friendly staff, and a good selection of pastries and breakfast items. The pastries are all made daily and the selection varies based on material availability. They have a wide selection of drinks and flavors to choose from. They also make great lattes with seasonal specials. We tried the Espresso, regular latte, Holiday Spice latte (tasted like eggnog) and an iced honey oat latte. All tasted very good with great flavor. For breakfast we tried the Christmas-style Avocado Toast and the Marigold style avocado toast. They both were delicious! The bacon and cheddar biscuit was also very fresh and tasted great. The Marionberry scone was the highlight and tasted excellent! This has become yet another great coffee house for us to visit regularly... highly recommended! read more

The hubs and I are always looking for a low/no carb option for breakfast and after looking at the menu on line, saw that River Maiden has a Sunrise Salad with topping of scrambled eggs scoop or chicken for $3 extra. The salads came out fast and were chock full of fresh greens, pickled onions, toasted sweet potatoes, pumpkin seeds and colorful peppers with a nice vinaigrette - substantial and delicious. though the scoop of scrambled eggs was a bit weird and I would have preferred a fried egg. I had a 10 oz Americano which was good. My hub's 12 oz brewed coffee was rather weak and kinda tasteless surprisingly. Maybe it's just the times. but $43 felt pretty high for two salads and two pretty small coffees. I love all the plants and feel like I'm getting my daily O2 fix just by lingering there. What an absolute delight. LOVE to find little establishments like this. Ordered the SAUSAGE BREAKFAST BURRITO and was blown away - best one ever. Trying to figure out what set it apart and realized it's the Perfect ratio of filling: Homemade sausage pattie, crazy potato hash mix and fluffy eggs combined with a surprisingly delectable red bell Pepper concoction. And the darn thing is HUGE and definitely shareable. It has The PERFECT BITE. Couldn't resist the baked goods, marionberry muffin and lemon Poppyseed were pure decadence but the cookie was FIRE. HUGELY IMPORTANT: they close at 3pm but they actually stop serving food at 2pm. This is the kind of place that you go when you've got lots of time to kill and want to relax and let the world pass you by while enjoy a coffee. Your main objective probably shouldn't be to stop in to grab a quick bite. For me the wait was obnoxiously long for a sandwich but maybe for someone in a different headspace it would be unnoticeable... like if you were enthralled in a book you were reading... or working on... a screenplay? I dunno. I just wanted a sandwich cause I heard they were good. Did the drive-thru. Sat in the car for a good 17 minutes in a completely empty parking lot except for some sucker who also did the drive-thru (who showed up right as my sandwich was brought to my designated parking spot.) This place is so cute! I moved back to vancouver after being away for four years and was recommended this place. We went on a Saturday morning at it was packed but drinks came out swiftly. I got an iced chai with vanilla and will definitely be asking if they well their concentrate in bulk. I've only had one chai in Seattle that I'd compare to this, so I'm so happy I found a new favorite place. I got the herbie and as a cilantro lover, I was instantly hooked. Starting off with good coffee , great sandwiches and bakery items , Cute decor with lots of plants , very well lit , good Wi-Fi , great location especially lots of parking out front and very appropriately priced . The service was pretty fast and friendly . Our sandwiches tasted exactly how I like them and were pretty good portion sizes. The Lavender Italian soda was so so good , I feel like it should be on tap . One thing I would have preferred a little different is that they served us in a to-go box even though we were just eating at the café , and gave us plates when I asked for it . Service was slower than hoped, but there were also only a few staff serving a constantly-rotating line of patrons - understandable, but also something mentioned in previous reviews that could be addressed. We grabbed a couple coffees, a couple pastries,a burrito, and a morning bowl, but my favorite was the Maple Cardamom Latte - excellent blend of strong coffee and light but clearly evident maple and cardamom. Tried River Maiden today for the 1st time. From the outside the building looks larger than the space inside that is designated for actual dining tables. I was surprised to see only about 6 two seat tables and 3 four seat tables for the size of the building. There are several outdoor tables without chairs however. You order from the counter. There is no table service. I ordered for dine in but ended up sitting on a bench without a table because all other tables were occupied. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage links. The burrito came with a choice of red or green salsa. I chose the green salsa. For the $13.50 price I was surprised that the burrito didn't come with a breakfast side of some kind. Fresh fruit would have been nice for an option. The burrito was freshly made to order with eggs, potatoes, bell peppers,cheddar cheese and sausage links. The sausage links were left whole. I would have preferred that the links were diced so that each bite of the burrito had the sausage in it. The burrito was excellent however and I would recommend. We came here last year when we were on our way home back to California. Just stopped to grab some sandwiches and coffee before our long road trip, and let me tell you... I thought about that breakfast sandwich for an entire year lol the coffee is decent, but I got an iced oatmilk latte and I'm pretty sure they dump hot shots over the ice and it watered down my drink a bit. However, the real star of the show are the breakfast Sando's. They're SO good! The bread they're on is fresh and soft, the eggs are fluffy and cooked perfectly and topped with chives.
