Beautiful beach! We…read morecame on a windy May weekend to explore. Parking was easy and we were able to walk down the beach to the pier with the lighthouse. We passed several bathrooms along the way. Plus a campground right on the beach.

Where to begin? Grand Haven State Park is a Sandy beach location full of young adults and some…read morefamilies that play volleyball, fly kites, walk the pier, and wear itty bitty bikinis while frying in the sun. I had the privilege to change in the bathroom, where a gaggle of girls walked in talking loudly about making out with different boys and hooking up. When I came out of the stall, these young looking women were in their thong bikinis adjusting their makeup and deciding what they were planning to do next. I remember being their age, but I don't remember bragging about my sexual conquests. Are these the spoils of feminism? Objectifying and gaining body counts like some frat boy club? I suppose if it is, the beach is a good place for it and Grand Haven does have a storied history of late night cruising to pick up walkers along the strip. I remember in my youth listening to our CD player jam to Eminem and Chronic 2001 while we cruised the strip being "cool" and admiring people's car kits with hydraulics and black lit lighting. I remember thinking cut off shorts and a bikini top were revealing then. I suppose, culture keeps pushing the limits and I should just be happy that people are still wearing something over their private parts. Right? My family did love the huge kites. My children loved playing in the waves. Parking can be a bear, but once you find a spot most things are within walking distance including an interesting boardwalk with shops, restaurants and ice cream. Don't miss a walk on the pier to admire the Big Red Lighthouse and see if a lucky fisherman caught anything.

A satisfactory location for camping but much more of an "RV Park" than a "campground". Occupancy…read morewas around 50% which was within COVID recommendations but especially phenomenal considering the weekend we stayed was 4th of July. Owners are ESPECIALLY STRICT on their 5mph speed limit to the point their employees will wave their arms and chase you down to remind you that, quote; "It's not 10mph, not 7 or even 6mph... The speed limit is 5mph." End quote. When I tried to explain my car was at idle speed he replied "You may need to ride your brakes then." As a father camping with two toddlers I appreciated their concern for safety somewhat but was conflicted when they never wore masks when speaking to campers, ever in the 4 days we stayed. Even when requiring campers to wear masks when entering their office to check-in, buy firewood/ice/etc. Reader beware that their name "Paradise" does not advertise that you must enter through the back alley of a car dealership and you are only separated from the highway by a few feet and an 8ft fence. We heard drag racing, honking, and sirens every night we were there.

All new fire pits, no one gets yelled at no more for going one mile over.. yes you will get yelled at for speeding though. There are kids at play. New playground equipment coming in...

1st time camping here and we had 3 lots, all family and friends. There was supposed to be Wi-Fi but…read moredidn't, they kept harassing us about cars and people. We did not go beyond their guidelines at all but kept trying to tell us we had to move tents( made no sense), but we did. Our power kept flickering and going dim. We didn't dare playing games past 7 because they would probably have something to say. We have been here a total of 23hrs and they came at least 10 times.. no joke. We had adults and kids and they would just nit pick about everything the kids would do. Pool was supposed to be heated as well but was broke. We made the best of it tho. I won't be coming back.

We then went in September and walked by that same lot and the spigot was still broken. Last year on Memorial Day weekend the concrete pads in the lots had about 1" of sand, pine needles and basic debris. The Sunday before Memorial Day they finally filled the pool. You would think that the owners would at least try to do basic upkeep on one of the busier weekends of the year and the kick off of camping season. On various lots there was grass that was 12" high. This year over Memorial Day it stormed a lot. The grade of this campground is awful. There are whole lots that are covered in water. I don't think this park owns a string trimmer because there are weeds growing along every pole and tree. Whatever the "Maintenance Fees" that we pay go for, it's obviously not going into upkeep on this park. Thankfully we were only scammed into getting a 2 year membership. We are thankful we didn't sign up for a 5 year or lifetime membership. This place is a scam
