TL;DR Camp Bow Wow offers unstructured play, but has lots of individual dog care options, loves every dog, and will go the extra mile to make sure each puppy parent can rest easy! We love how happy Bucky is to go to Camp Bow Wow! It's a testament to the bounty of affection and attention each counselor gives to every camper. There is no need for us to be anxious about how Bucky is doing throughout the day, either. Between the daily pictures on social media and the ability to check-in on the live camp cams, we can always see how much fun he's having. This is especially helpful when we have to travel and he has an extended stay at Camp. We still miss him, of course, but we can rest easy knowing that he has the best of care while we're away. We can also set up some one-on-one playtime as an extra treat (just him and a counselor) or try out their new peanut butter Picasso puppy paintings! The availability of basic grooming on-site is an added bonus. We used to take Bucky to a popular pet chain for grooming, but now we just get him a puppy spa day as we like to call it - a full day of play followed by a nail trim, teeth cleaning, a bath, and some fresh cologne (typically blueberry or lavender). On the puppy parent side of the house, the staff and counselors are always very courteous, kind, polite, and helpful! We have never had a negative interaction or experience at Camp Bow Wow. They keep us apprised of Bucky's behavior and let us know if an illness is spreading in the community (whether or not it has impacted any campers yet). This is especially helpful when Bucky needs a vet visit, as it provides a more holistic picture for us to relay. All in all, we love everything about Camp Bow Wow and would recommend it to anyone seeking open-play doggie day care! Worst place Ever! I will definitely inform All of my pet parents Not to board here. When we picked her up after 5 days, we were told that they misplaced her toy... Not a big deal. As long as our dog was doing well. When we arrived home, we realized that her bed was missing. I called and asked about her bed. They placed me on hold for 5 minutes... Not a good sign.. they told me they were still looking and that they would call us back tomorrow morning. Havind never received a phone call, I called them at 10:00 a.m. and was told that they were still unable to find the bed. A staff member overheard her talking and said oh sorry your dog shredded it the first night. So, our dog was without her bed for four nights and no one bothered to inform us? We also found out by that same person that they threw out her dog toy because there was feces all over it... Again you didn't think to tell us about this? 02/28/25 I dropped off my 2 year old lab at daycare at 8am after not being there for 1.5 years because I waited until he was 2 y/o to get neutered. At 6:20pm when we picked him up, immediately outside the front door, I noticed a bald spot on his lower back. Quickly inspecting it, I brushed it off since he might've gotten it from playing w/ another dog and did not see any deep punctures in the bald spot. He arrived at daycare with both a harness and a neck collar on but could only use the collar for daycare. So they kept his harness on the hook until pickup and put it back on him when giving him to us. When we got home and took off the harness, hidden underneath where the harness sits, we noticed dried blood on his fur on top of his shoulder blade. Upon further inspection, there was a gash, deep enough to be able to open the wound and see subcutaneous skin. We took him to an emergency vet where he got staples and was sent home with antibiotics and pain meds. Why did the daycare not inform us of this incident? I understand dogs may play rough and given it was his first time back in 1.5 years, but my dog is not aggressive. He doesn't bite or bark (he barks when hungry), regardless of around strangers or other dogs. He is the friendliest pup ever and loves rubs. Even if he got into a scuffle with another dog, why did they not give us a call? What even happened? We utilized their indoor/outdoor play cameras throughout the day and in the hours of 3:00pm to when we picked him up, he was nowhere to be found. Manager said their sleep suites and other areas in the camp have no cameras. So where was my dog from 3:00-6:20pm? If he was put away due to a fight, still, why did they not inform us? Anyways not much we could do that night besides get my dog fixed up, as daycare closed at 7pm. So I called their number and left a voicemail. Next day, we came back to speak with the manager. Brought the vet bill with me. Told him what happened. In the end, there was NO type of accountability. I asked, "if an employee had to put his harness on to give him back to us, how did he not see the cut with DRIED red blood around the area?" Do they don't care or were aware enough to quickly glance at the dogs there to see their physical health throughout the day? Manager contradicted himself. He first apologized and said "it happened on the way out of bringing him to you" then contradicted himself later saying "my staff did not notice anything on your dog when we brought him out." So was the staff aware of what happened to my dog or not? If they acknowledged it, why NOT INFORM US when it happened? The LACK of communication and accountability is what upsets me. Accidents happen. I understand. But where is the communication at? After that went down, he tried to offer to reimburse us back a day's worth of day care ($40 btw) and a free enrichment session ($10). You think that makes up for the $650 unplanned vet bill? The emotional trauma when we found the cut? Most importantly, my DOG'S well-being and our TRUST in Camp Bow Wow in taking care of my dog???? He said he couldn't reimburse us for the bill, even though the incident happened under their care and supervision. Yes the disclaimer I signed said they are not liable but wow, I can't believe a money-hungry corporate facility would rather let me face the vet bill and having to take off work for the next week for my dog than to offer to reimburse me. Again, vet bill is not the issue; LACK of COMMUNICATION and ACCOUNTABILITY is the issue. Least they could do is offer to reimburse the bill. I want to bring awareness to Camp Bow Wow. Be careful bringing your pups here, they might just send you home with a hurt dog and a "we can't do anything about it" attitude!!!!!! Emergency vet said it is highly unlikely it was another dog's bite or nail scratch, as the cut was very straight and she said a "superficial" object may have caused it. So if that rules out another dog doing it, WHO or WHAT cut him??? WHY are the dogs playing around SHARP edges/objects and unaware staff?? If dog load is an issue to have staff constantly supervising them, then hire some more people. At the end of the day, my dog came home with a fat cut on him and no one knows what happened. read more

I was horrified at the condition they returned my puppy to me. They returned my dog skin and bones. We took both of our dogs during Christmas. They were there for 5 days. We made them aware that our dogs do get along while eating. The older dog bullies the younger one and cannot be close they did not care. My puppy was reduced to skin and bones bc she could not eat and was bullied by the bigger dog. She has diarrhea and vomiting. They don't care. Don't take your dogs if you care for them. They will return a sick dog. I spent a lot of time and money getting my pup back to a healthy state. See pictures. The video was when we picked her up. The second one was 10 days later back home and taken care of. Shame on them for treating animals so bad. Very disappointed. Never going back. We asked for a manager to give us a call and when he did he brushed off our concerns with half apologies and lame excuses. There is no excuse to this kind of abuse. I have been reading responses from this company to other complaints and they brush it off as " oh, we are so sorry but... (lame excuse blah blah ). My vet was horrified when I took my puppy in. Humping is a natural dog behavior and cannot be completely avoided in any facility. But how about if every time that I checked the camera, my dog was being humped by other dogs, while the staff who should be watching the dogs was just leaning on the gate and chatting with someone else outside the area. If you work here, you need to do the job. My dog kept trying to escape and clearly appeared uncomfortable, but the other dog kept following and no one stepped in to correct it. The thing happened right by the staff's feet and he paid no attention, for not just 15 or 30 minutes. I had to drive 1.5 hr out of town that day for a 2 hr appointment and every time I wanted to make sure my dog's doing ok, I see this happening on the camera, even more helpless when trying to call the camp for 7 times but no body answered the phone. My dog is timid and non aggressive who hardly barks at other dogs or humans and does not know how to fight back to refuse things. You ask for an interview for all dogs to make sure they are well behaved but I don't believe you have the same requirement or standard for your employees. When I raised this issue, Jennifer claimed she reviewed the camera footage from 8-11 am and saw nothing happening to my dog and insisted she's doing great. However, I dropped her off after 11 am. Even more ridiculous when kept arguing with me about my own arrival time. I didn't even wake up at 8. You refused to refund my unused $100 package, but I can let others know how much attention you pay to the dogs at your camp, warn other dog parents before they select you over numerous other dog camps available. Best dog daycare in Columbia! I've taken my puppy to a few different ones in the area and this is the only one where the councilors you can see/tell take extra good care of their campers. The councilors will message me photos and videos of my dog playing. And even ask questions about her to make sure she is good if they are worried she got hurt playing. Love being able to watch my dog on the camera and see her play with her friends and the councilors paying attention and playing with the dogs and giving all the doggies love! Also, their hours are most extensive of all the day cares, so it's great for us working pawrents who need to work and get their dog after work is over. Overall 5/5 facility who really care for your dog and give them attention and love! I have a Siberian Husky with an insane amount of energy. Sometimes the dog park just isn't long enough so I take him to Camp Bow Wow where he can play all day! The staff is very friendly and my dog loves them! They have cameras that link up to their app where I can watch my Harper play all day! I took my pup (1 year 4 months old) and thought she'd have a blast and not want to leave, since I take her to the Columbia DogPark every single day and she is the most social, playful, fun loving dog and sprints all around the whole time. Her favorite things to do are to run with other dogs and be social to every pup that enters. However, my whole experience with Camp Bow Wow was negative with the older women there. The younger guy and girl were great! But every time I called to set things up, I felt like I was being chastised and they seemed to assume I have an aggressive dog who is not up to date on her vaccinations. They made it very difficult for me to come to the first free day of camp. Then, when we got there, my pup was obviously overwhelmed with all the loud barking and took her away. Throughout the day I checked in on her and she was either being humped by another dog and visibly annoyed, or she was separating herself from the rest of the dogs by being outside by herself and sitting on the wet floor that gets washed off throughout the day. It was nearly December and it was very very cold that day, and her sitting on the wet ground and not moving because she was so scared made me cancel my interview that day in order to pick her up as soon as possible. No one tried to console her, it seemed. Then, when I went to pick her up, one of the women talked down to me and said I should socialize my dog more because right now she is "too timid" and doesn't seem to want to socialize with the other dogs and just stayed around the perimeter. Then she talked for at least 20 minutes pressuring me to buy something I will never pay money for. I wish I could get my time back. My dog was trembling from either the cold or being traumatized there, or maybe both. I was very disappointed with how my dog was treated and the whole experience overall. I expected a lot since a lot of people at the dog park suggested I give it a try, since she loves the dog park so much I thought she'd be a great fit. I wish I could have my time back. She's able to interact and socialize with all different types of dogs. The camper cams are nice, especially when you're out of town for an extended period of time. The staff seems a little hit or miss in the rooms. I took my dog for a temper test for day care. Everything was going well and I must to admit that I get a little nervous when I introduce my dog to new people, but it seems that he was okay with the staff. They took him in to introduce him with a few dogs and me and my husband were watching through the cameras. In my opinion everything was looking okay until the lady walked out of the room with my dog. She kept herself in silence so my husband had to ask how did it go because she didn't say anything but looking sad lol then she proceed to respond and said that my dog didn't pass the test. She mentioned that he growled a little bit and nip. I have no idea that a dog is not allow to be a dog at a daycare. I also never saw him through the camera when he nipped. I understand they didn't want to take him for safety purposes but I have never had a bad situation with my dog in the past. Of course they have the right to deny the services but to be honest they are way too crowded and it seems a very small area to keep so many dogs together. Maybe they should also consider stop taking so many dogs and probably that could prevent a future incident. Today is my 6th time taking my doghter Kristy to Camp Bow Wow. Kristy is a small 7pound Yorkie, she is my fur baby and I don't trust just anyone with her. But she loves going to Camp and playing with the other dogs and people. I have no complaints about Camp Bow Wow, everyone seems to be really nice, and I haven't had a bad experience with them. I really like that the evaluation day is free, and I like the starter discounted packages they offer. But for me, what sets this daycare apart from the others, is that Camp Bow Wow has a live camera feed on their app. I really enjoy watching Kristy run and play with the other dogs. Also it's nice to see the attendant pet and hug all the dogs. If you are skeptical about bringing your dog to camp, just download the app and watch how the dogs interact. What impressed me the most and moved me to write a review is that Camp Bow Wow sent me the cutest photos of Kristy during the day. Last Saturday my husband brought our pug Tank into Camp Bow Wow for his new camper evaluation at 8:30am. My husband was able to observe the first part of the evaluation when Tank first met with a couple other dogs. The first dog aggressively snapped at him completely unprovoked but was pulled off quickly and removed. We understand that dogs are unpredictable but felt the employees made a poor choice picking out a dog to test to him with. The worst part came later. When my husband arrived at 3pm to pick up Tank after his day at camp he was immediately alarmed by how swollen and deep blood red the whites of his eyes were. The Camp Bow Wow employees insisted he was just tired from his big day at camp and that it would clear up after he got some rest. My husband brought Tank back home and I immediately started crying when I saw him and exclaimed there was no way that was normal. He tried to assure me that Tank was just tired and that it would look better soon. After Tank had been home and napping for about 10 hours we decided his eyes looked worse and he needed to go to the Emergency Vet at 1am. The veterinarian was extremely alarmed by Tank's appearance and told us he had taken some sort of hit/blow to the head or neck area to cause this. She suggested his leash might have been yanked too hard by one of the Camp Bow Wow employees or that he simply ran into something hard while another dog was chasing him. Obviously we were devastated to think someone could have caused him harm while in Camp Bow Wow's care. Their website boasts Pet First Aid and CPR certified staff so how did no one realize something was very wrong with Tank when they saw his swollen, deep red bloody eyes? We are incredibly disappointed, saddened, and frustrated that Tank's time at Camp Bow Wow left us with an injured dog (the vet says his eyes will not heal for 7-10 days after the head trauma he endured) and a $300 Emergency Vet bill. When we emailed Camp Bow Wow and explained what happened and included pictures (at the Emergency Vet's suggestion that Camp Bow Wow be made aware of the trauma Tank endured), they called my husband and didn't even apologize for Tank's suffering. They wouldn't admit any fault and condescendingly told us that dogs like Tank (flat-faced like Pugs, Boston Terriers, etc.) do get bloodshot eyes when tired, even though we have a bill from the Emergency Vet clearly stating "head trauma". Then they had the audacity to suggest Tank "come back and try again" sometime. I wasn't expecting them to pay the vet bill considering we can't prove someone harmed him, but I did expect them to at least apologize for our family's suffering caused by his day at their camp and their ignorance about his condition when we arrived. I absolutely will not recommend Camp Bow Wow to anyone in the future. If you do decide to use Camp Bow Wow, I hope they care about your dog more than they cared about ours. *Edited to add response to Michael: Like I mentioned, we have already spoken with Cherie and she was dismissive and condescending. A man named Eric did try contacting me after I posted this but since there are at least four reviews on here warning others how "rude, pompous, and disrespectful" he is on the phone I didn't feel like it was worth my time. There is also a very alarming review written by an ex employee that states she quit because she routinely witnessed animal abuse. There is nothing you can say or do to make me trust or forgive your company. The only reason you've given me an apology now is because this is public. I have already contacted your corporate office and will speak to them directly if they wish because I hope their investigation into this matter will end any more suffering of the dogs in your care. read more

I wasn't even able to schedule my dogs an initial evaluation because they only answered the phone ONCE. I called 3 times a day for a WEEK, each time, nothing. When I called, I tried all the options in the menu. The one time they did answer, they told me they would get back to me shortly about a question I had and never called me back. I brought my dog in for the eval to see if we could board him during our vacation. He failed, but I wouldn't give anyone a low rating just based on this. I understand that they have their policies and I went into it assuming they would be strict, seeing as how we're dealing with animals and they have a corporate vibe. My rating is purely based on customer service. The person I dealt with scheduling/making sure he had the pre-requirements was AJ and she was great. She was nice on the phone, caring, and attentive. (So if you need to call, ask for AJ is my point) My bf dropped my 9 month old pup off at 7:30 am and he was to pick him up at 2 pm. I was surprised at how long the eval was but it didn't bother me at the time. It bothered me later when they called at 1:46 to say he failed because we could have picked him up earlier rather than have him sit in the "time out cabin" or whatever and we could have spent the time looking for another place. But maybe it's their policy that the dog has to stay there. Who knows. Anyways, I had the cameras up the whole time so I could see how he was doing. Before I even spoke with anyone, I was starting to feel like this wasn't the place for us. The room is packed with dogs and a "trainer" that walks around in circles, talks to other trainers, sometimes pets a dog, and sometimes puts a dog in time out. That's fine if that's what they do but I thought he would get more attention. Maybe someone would throw a ball around? BUT, that wasn't advertised so I didn't hold it against them. I'm the one that assumed that it would be more like a "camp" with "activities." Then I saw one of the "trainers" shove my dog so hard that he fell on his back. That annoyed me but again, just enough to make me feel like we should try out a different place. From what I could see, my dog spent all day following the "trainers." They would walk in circles so he walked in circles with them. This didn't surprise me, he likes people. He's in a room packed with a bunch of dogs for hours and he gravitates towards the human...it didn't seem that weird to me? I also saw so many dogs wrestling and that sometimes my dog would run in there and try to get involved and the trainer would put him in timeout as soon as he ran over. I also saw that if the "trainer" pet another dog, he would try to get attention as well. For example, I only saw the "trainers" pet dogs that were on that bridge thing (probably so they didn't have to make the effort to bend down) and when they would do that he would get on his hind legs and sniff that dog or push his head to be pet. So when the girl called (Her name was Carol or Caroline or whatever) she told me "not to panic" because "your dog isn't hurt or anything like that" (but her voice kind of made it seem like he was) but she would like to inform me that my dog DID NOT do well AT ALL and he was NOT welcome at Camp Bow Wow. I understand that people have jobs and sometimes that job is to deliver bad news and even if they're bad at their job, I still have the power to act like an adult and not freak out about it. So I said, "well I understand and I appreciate you guys taking the time to do the evaluation." So she tells me that he was "trainer possessive" and anytime someone showed attention to another dog he would get aggressive and "fight off that dog" but even with that they planned to pass him but then he "pinned down another dog" and that's when he was sent to the "timeout cabin" until we pick him up. She was calling to let me know because "we might not have the time to talk to you when you come to pick him up." Not have the time? Isn't that part of the eval to explain the results? She didn't bother to say like, "I'm sorry this didn't work out" or "good luck finding a place that will take him." I was trying to be so nice to her and I wasn't arguing with her or trying to change her mind because I didn't like what I saw either from their end and she was just flat out rude. She KEPT saying he was not welcome there even though nothing was prompting her to say that from my end. When my bf went to pick him up they asked if I explained everything to him and he said no and they just said he pinned a dog down. No details. Did he randomly "pin" a dog down? Was he wrestling and it escalated? Why did they let it escalate to that point? Shouldn't they be watching for that? Plus, we go to the dog park all the time and I've never seen him act that way (but that's besides the point). All in all, terrible customer service. If you guys cared about dogs shouldn't you try to educate people? If he really showed such poor etiquette, and he was in your care for several hours, doesn't this warrant a conversation? That's what a place who truly loves dogs would do in my opinion. If your policies are strict on customers that's fine but tighten up on your employee policies as well. Don't you guys know that dog owners are a part of communities of other dog owners and word of mouth goes a long way? read more

Once we were able to get in for the evaluation they took my dog back for literally 30 seconds before bringing her back and saying she was tucking her tail and acting submissive therefore she cannot board at Camp Bow Wow. Our 1 & 1/2 year old dog got bitten up twice and the vet bill was over $125 each time. The dogs fought because they are all cooped up yet they said our dog is "aggressive". No, she is 1 & 1/2 years old and has never been treated aggressively or exhibited aggression and we have had her since she was 2 months old. So before you spend money or more importantly, before you put your little family member in harm's way, check out the cams. Look at inside room #2 and inside room #3 cams during the day. Wow, how does CBW have only 2.5 stars? I LOVE this place. We never actually boarded our dogs there, but used to take them for daycare to burn extra puppy energy. We were really bummed when we moved to Falls Church and there was no CBW nearby. They knew me, my fiancé and our dogs by name each and every time we went. It is a little pricey, but no more so than other dog day care places i've experienced. And hey, if my dogs come back too exhausted to chew on shoes/carpet/furniture/toes, it's worth it, right? The thing I loved most about this place is that it's indoor AND outdoor; it seems like they open the door to the backyard about 5-10 minutes each hour or so, and if the weather's nice they pretty much just leave it open. I don't like the idea of my dogs eliminating inside, no matter what kind of flooring they use; I don't want them to get into the habit. The other thing I really love is their webcam, it's nice to be able to check in and see my dogs making new friends! My two furry friends seemed to love it while they boarded there. Both are older dogs and got a lot of activity. They looked in good shape when I returned. One was trying to go back inside when I picked them up. Staff is very conscientious and does not leave any stones unturned. If you are worried about your dog being well cared for then this is the place. One down side is that it is a little pricy$$$. read more

Eric (one of the owners) can, admittedly, sometimes come across as a bit stern but he really does care about the dogs a great deal. We've been taking our dog (greyhound mix) there for about a year now and she loves going there. The great part is that we always know that she's well taken care of when she's there. I know that they do remove some dogs from day camp and I'm not entirely sure how they determine that but I've been told that it's for the safety of the dogs. My little dog plays pretty rough, though, and she's always welcome there so I have to imagine that if a dog does get listed as not eligible for day camp that they're being particularly aggressive. It does get expensive, but it's comparable to the other day camps that I've encountered in Columbia (DogTopia, Coventry, etc...). That said, every month they have a Yappy Day where camp is $20 and they have wine and cheese for the parents at pickup. read more

My dog and I both like Camp Bow Wow! I started taking my dog, Stormee, to Camp Bow Wow, when I moved back to MD from CA. My dog was used to being around other dogs and well socialized and I wanted that experience here. Also, I work pretty long hours and commute a half hour to work and didn't want to leave her penned up in a kennel 9-10 hours a day. Sometimes commute home can take up to an hour due to traffic. So I was ecstatic to find this place and take her there. Her first day was shaky, and she didn't seem as receptive. But now we've been going to Camp Bow Wow for about two months now, and as we pull up, my dog starts barking to get out the car and go in and play with her friends. And for me that speaks volume. I've met a good deal of the staff and they all seem to know my dog by sight and also know her name without having to look it up. The staff are super friendly, in the morning I'm usually greeted by Katie and in the evenings by Eric and or Katie again. They are all charming and friendly. I've had the opportunity to meet many of the staff and am impressed with their dedication to the safety of the dogs and and cleanliness of the facility. I'm also very impressed with the management staff. I've found them to be knowledgeable, informative, and yes, very strict in regards to dog behavioral issues and vaccinations. As a client who entrusts them with the care of my dog, I'm GRATEFUL that they are. Stormee LOVES camp! The best thing about B/W is the open "free" play environment. Dogs are able to access both inside and outside areas and are well supervised by the staff. An added bonus is that I have a tired, calm dog after camp instead of one who has been crated all day. The only downside is that before a very quiet doggie, Stormee has found her voice and now barks when she's excited...but small price to pay for the piece of mind that Camp Bow Wow provides. Loving Camp Bow Wow she cannot wait to get in the door she must be making some great friendships. Liked the introduction process and appreciate that I can watch her on the webcam. She has been to board for a weekend and was still in a good mood when we picked her up! Often upon pick up at other boarders I am told she did not eat, well that was not the story at Camp Bow Wow! Every time I viewed the webcam she was involved and appeared to be having a great time when at some other locations I have seen her rolled in a ball in the corner. I appreciate that the handlers are engaged with the dogs in their areas. read more

On the one hand, I love this place! My dogs always come back happy and tired, which is exactly what I want when I need someone else to watch them. The staff is super nice, they even sent us a congratulations card when our son was born earlier this year. But, on the other hand....the whole process can be a hassle. They want the dogs there by a certain time, to have eaten by a certain time and if you don't abide there's a bit of what feels like shaming. The place is kind of expensive. I always send my dogs with extra food and I don't think I get it back. Their grooming services are sometimes forgotten and still charged for, and other times done poorly. They have requested numerous "emergency contacts" for my dogs which they prefer to not be family members. Here's the thing: if I had someone else to watch my dogs while I was out of town, I wouldn't necessarily need Camp Bow wow. So I have to ask all my cat owning friends if they could be my dog's emergency contact and that gets awkward. Also, did I mention expensive? But back to the pros: the place is clean, the staff nice and my dogs are always happy. Don't buy the grooming (other than a bath) and it's still a great place. I'll continue to take my dogs there because I hate the idea of kennels, petsmart limits the playtime for dogs and charges extra for it, and I am glad to be able to leave them trusting that I'll spend a fortune and come home to two happy dogs....with poorly trimmed nails. :) read more

As you can see, there are other reviewers here that marked this place poorly. I just wished that I've done my research first before causing myself a very unpleasant experience with this place particularly with their front desk person - Shelly who is really bossy since she likes to control the conversation so the customer communication factor isn't there at all - so beware. So between her and management, they claimed that my dog's mounting caused an altercation with another dog and had injured the other dog. There are other dogs around that are mounting each other while the worker wasn't paying attention (I constantly watched their video cam - which is the only good thing that they have.) but Shelly made it sound my dog's mounting caused the trouble although in fact, after my wife and my son watched the video, the altercation had nothing to do with mounting. The other dog had his/her mouth on my dogs' neck for a good period of time before my dog got tired of it and decided to snap back because the other dog didn't want to let go. My dog was always playful but never aggressive, but he'll defend himself if he need to. Although this accident could have been prevented in the first place by the human on watch, but unfortunately they had to put the blame on my dog and decided to ban (what's the term "unwelcome") him from Camp Bow Wow, what a way to cover their behinds :( Only positive thing about this place is their live video cam (which is the one star for) but other than that - I would not recommend this place. read more

Camp Bow Wow in Columbia, MD has been exceptional to my family and our two dogs!! Our mini schnauzer, Dobby, has been going there three years now. We just adopted another puppy that had her orientation today. Cherie allowed us to complete her orientation the same day as our request within two hours time. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. If you work long hours or have dogs that are high energy this is definitely the place to take them. We were thoroughly disappointed with Camp Bow Wow. If you have an energetic dog that loves to play, this is not the right place. The yard is small and confining for the amount of dogs there. Our dog was told she wasn't welcome if she doesn't calm down and play less excitedly. Our dog loves other dogs and she loves all people but I think they have a thing against pit bulls and basically said she wasn't allowed back. The trainers can't differentiate between a play growl and an aggressive one. They only like dogs who sleep in the play yard. When our dog went to play in the yard when the other dogs sleeping, the trainers got annoyed and told us she was aggressive to other dogs. read more

My 16 month old doggy Porter is a Lab/Rottie mix who has more energy than a dog should have. Camp Bow Wow is a wonderful safe place for doggies of all sizes and energy levels to have fun! Nothing escapes the watchful eyes of the Camp Leaders either. They were the first to notice a problem with Porter's leg which the VET confirmed. Porter has had two separate overnight stays at the camp where he can play all day in the open area and sleep in the crate at night. Most other kennels keep the dogs in their crates all day and night with you paying extra to let them out for a short play break. I'm very happy I found Camp Bow Wow. Porter is happy too. Now, every time he gets in to the car, he thinks he's going to camp to play with his buddies. read more

I love Camp Bow Wow and more importantly, so does my five-year-old cattle dog mix Stella. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and shows genuine affection for every dog. Stella starts whining with joy when we are about a mile away from Camp Bow Wow, and upon arrival, she eagerly pulls me toward the door, and is excited to go back and begin her day of play. I applaud the Camp Bow Wow team members for their ability to introduce new members to each pack, and work with the various personalities and energy levels of each dog. Stella thoroughly enjoys every day of camp and I know she is in good hands at Camp Bow Wow! read more

Camp Bow Wow is absolutely amazing! We have been bringing our pup, Gusti, here for the past couple of months and have had a fantastic experience every time!! The staff is friendly, and takes an interest in every pup that walks into camp! Every time we drop Gusti off he sprints through the doors to the play area. As most puppy moms, I struggle leaving my pup, especially overnight but not when he is at camp bow wow. I love having the ability to watch him on camera during the day. He is always romping around and having a great time. Every time we go to pick him up he is snoozing by the time we leave the parking lot! I am so grateful for camp bow wow and knowing my pup is well cared for while he is there! read more

Attention: I was considering taking my large male standard poodle to Camp Bow Wow. I am looking for care for my dog while in Europe for 12 Days. 4/6/2018 @ 1:36PM While looking over the website I came across a webcam. I watch for approx. 3 minutes (which seemed like forever) a Golden Retriever backed into a corner (upper left from camera view) of the play area by 4 to 5 dogs at one time. They were other dogs jumping on this poor dog all at one-time. There was a person in the play area seemingly to be oblivious to what was going on the dogs around her. ...and of course, did nothing! At one point there was a white dog humping the Golden, again with no attention from the person supposedly tending to the dogs. I was so disturbed by what I saw... I called. Mind you, I am potentially a new customer. I received a return call from the camp I presume to be the 'Manger on Duty' to address my concern directly. The woman did attempt to defuse the situation. However, in doing do - told me "that's just how dogs play" was insulting to say the least. I have had 4 dogs at one time and have own them for the 45 years. Her resolution was to talk to the counselor. To the camps credit the person I originally spoke to did send a person down to assess the situation... I was still watching at that point. At that time all the dogs went to the gate door. The Golden was able to separate its self. The MOD on the phone said she would review the recording. When I went back to the webcam following our conversation I found the camera was viewing another room with no dogs. If I had been on vacation and I saw that footage I would hit the roof! Needless to say, "I will NOT be taking my dog to Camp Bow Wow nor recommending the facility and will be sharing my experience. read more

Our puppy Alex stayed for the weekend and had a great time. The staff are so great with the dogs and really love them. I did pay for the extra play time and snuggle time. He seemed to enjoy both. I love that they sent me a text with video of the play time and pictures from snuggle time. read more

I'm really surprised to see 2 or 3 star reviews--we've been taking our dog to CBW for over a year now and love it. The staff really cares about our dog--they even called one day when we kept him home to check on him. As other reviewers have said, they are picky about the dogs that they accept, and they are very concerned about keeping dogs up-to-date on vaccinations. They'll call me if they notice anything unusual going on with my dog. I'm ok with that. They are protecting their clients' dogs. I love that they're very active on social media and have streaming video of their play areas. They're completely transparent and I *know* what my dog does all day. We used to take our dog to another "upscale" doggy day care in the area (I won't name it) that didn't offer streaming video and my husband and are convinced that our dog spent a good chunk of his day in a kennel there. When our puppy comes home from CBW, he is exhausted and we know that he's been active and playful all day. While I don't love boarding my dog, we have boarded him at CBW a couple of times and have no concerns whatsoever. We're big CBW fans and I'd be happy to answer any questions from other HoCo dog owners! What's most important is that our dog loves going to CBW--he goes nuts (in a good way) when we get there. read more
