I took my adolescent puppy here for 6 weeks and I can say, the items taught were very good and needed. Background and understanding weee taught with every lesion. Pros and cons of the commands, as well as how to correct behaviors. Mrs. Marcie was very nice and personable, you can tell this is what she loves doing and is well versed in different breeds. I began to notice differences within my pup will being there, we enjoyed it so much, that I signed up for the next level class. She even gave us tips on graduation day. She's great ! read more

I really like this Petsmart. I purchased my fish tank and accessories from here. I also purchased my Betta fish. I purchased three female Bettas. I heard that you cannot keep more than one Male Betta together. The staff here is very helpful in answering any questions you may have about the fish that you purchase. I am a beginner in the fish department. I know l didn't want goldfish. I grew up with them as a child and they die pretty easily. I wanted low maintenance healthy fish that would fit in my 3.5 gallon tank that I had already purchased previously when l had two African Dwarf frogs. I just had to add the needed accessories for the Betta fish. They require a heater and filters. The aquarium sales clerk told me not to put a Male and female betta together unless it's for breeding purposes only. Thank you for that. So l purchased all females since they can live together in a tank of that size. I have to say watching fish is very entertaining. They have their own personalities. I introduced them all at the same time. They enjoy their new home. One is the most dominant of the others. I guess she is the Queen B. I can watch them for hours. That is until my bichon get jealous. The good is the friendly staff the bad is the fact that my dogs groom was a disappointment. There was a lot of areas missed. He didn't even look like he had a proper haircut. My mother went to pick him up from his appointment and she said he looked bad. She had to do some trimming to fix the issue she found she didn't say anything because it was a lot of people and crowded on a weekday, In the past the grooms were really good the puppy cut was awesome. Now it seems that they overbook or the groomer that is supposed to groom isn't doing the groom. Furthermore the grooming wasn't complete my mother was told she had to make another appointment because the groomer didn't have time to finish. This location is always horribly slow! No matter what day you visit or how busy they are, they more than likely will only have one register open. I had a friend drop my dog off to get groomed due to being out of town. When I came back into town, my standard poodle was bald down to her tail. The hair off her ears shaved off, her tail skinned to nothing, she basically looks like a mole rat. I'm still lost for words because she has gotten her hair cut at that same location before. I picked the $90 package online, but the bill total was $130. I looked at the bill, and PetSmart added in $40 for dematting her. How do you charge for dematting, and you shave all her hair off? My dog had 2 inch of hair on her body, her tail was 6 inch full of hair. If there were concerns, I should have been called, PERIOD! An hour after my friend picks up my dog, I get a call from PetSmart grooming stating my dog will be ready in 10 mins, when my dog has been home for over an hour? That call greatly disturbed me. I will take my business elsewhere where there is accountability. I should be fully refunded for this hack job done to my dog. I could have buzzed my dog myself (which I would never do, therefore I pay to get her styled and not shaved off). If there was an issue, why didn't anyone call me to let me know. I've had groomers in the past call me to get my permission, but it was not to shave all her hair off, it was to cut her shorter than normal in a certain area. I call that communication. Been here three times over the past year. Two of those times I was charged a lot more for items at the register than they were marked with the sticker on the shelf. Once was for live plants for fish tank marked $1.99 but they charged me $4.99. The one today was for case of cat food marked $11.99 and I was charged $15.99. Let me start by saying that we have a 10yo Pomeranian. He is also a patient at Banfield Veterinarian, located within PetSmart. We also utilize the Petsmart grooming salon at the same location, at Arundel Mills. It's been about a year or more since we had our Pom groom due to Covid. I recently booked a full grooming session at the Arundel Mills location for January 22nd and when my husband took our Pom in for grooming he was told by one of the grooming staff that he was too matted and they would not touch him. Our 4 pound little ball of fluff did have some matted spots but nothing so horrible that he could not have been serviced by professional groomers. When my husband asked for suggestions on what we should do when the groomers that we have always gone to are refusing to groom our dog, he was told that maybe we should try the pound. Needless to say we will never set foot in a Petsmart grooming salon EVER again, for this pet or any other pet we may have in the future. My husband said he didn't even recognize any of the staff. I'm assuming that due to Covid, like most places the turnover of staff is high. PetSmart do better, hire better! read more

We recently purchased a hamster from this location for the kids. Just thought it would be a nice touch to our new place. We went in and were just wondering around not to sure of what we wanted. A female sales associate approached us, and gave us the run down on a lot of the animals (especially the rodents). She asked about our household, and who would be in contact with the pets. She also told us the differences between one over the other (which ones were to gast for a toddler, slower more docile, prone to bite, more likely to poop all over, stonger smelling, etc). She was very thorough in her approach without being picky. She answered questions, but gave us apace and didnt linger. We eventually chose a hamster, and she helped us pick out a nice cage, food, and the right bedding. We ended up having to come back that day right before closing, and do an exchange because our guy was a little to big to go through the tubes, but they helped us quickly pick out another cage (without any attitude because it was almost closing), and the rest is history. We have had our hamster (Yoda) for about 2 months now, and the kids love him. We will definitely be coming back in the near future to make another purchase. Once i can convince my lady to love reptiles...lol #GreatJob read more

I took my baby to get groomed yesterday (as I've done several times before with no complaints) but this time I've found my groomer! 8/25/18 what a breath of fresh air! Our dog needed her nails trimmed. $20 with grinding. Jake, the salon lead came our and took care of us. Quick fast clean and nice. In less than 2 weeks I've had THREE grooming appointments canceled by the grooming staff. I'm incredibly irritated at this point that there is no explanation, no apology, no attempt to reschedule for the second time. I booked two different grooming appointments for my two dogs , Maggie and Odin. The first appointment was booked last Friday for the coming Sunday (4/21) and the other appointment was booked for the following Sunday (4/28). On the morning of Sunday the 21st I received a text that simply said "Appointment has been cancelled for Maggie w/Kimberly at the PetSmart located at 7663 ARUNDEL MILLS BLVD, HANOVER, MD 21076". There was no explanation or call or attempt to reschedule, I thought maybe there was an issue because it was Easter Sunday and decided to simply try to book another appointment online for as soon as possible. I went ahead and booked for Tuesday 4/23 at 1:30 and received a text confirmation. On Monday I received a call saying that the groomer wouldn't be able to do that appointment and that they could reschedule me for a different time or a different day. I ended up getting booked for 10:30 am the same day (I appreciate that someone did call to explain and reschedule). I received another call a few hours later telling me the same thing, I let them know it was already rescheduled and they apologized and told me there wasn't a note on the account but they would make one. I took my dog Maggie in on Tuesday at 10:30 and had no issues, everyone was very friendly and the grooming was totally fine. At that point I just cracked everything up to a fluke scheduling error or whatever. Yesterday I received a reminder text: "Don't forget! Odin has an appt on 4/28/2019 at 8:00 AM w/Alisha at the PetSmart located at 7663 ARUNDEL MILLS BLVD, HANOVER, MD 21076 Txt SCHED to cancel/reschedule appt, HELP for help." everything seems fine until I receive a text this morning (day of the appointment) saying "Appointment has been cancelled for Odin w/Alisha at the PetSmart located at 7663 ARUNDEL MILLS BLVD, HANOVER, MD 21076". So here I am AGAIN wondering what the hell is up with either the website scheduling or the grooming department. I have no idea what the issue is but i have never had this issue before with any other groomer or grooming service. The ONE single time I had an appointment that needed to rescheduled (different company) they called, apologized and then offered a 50% off for my rescheduled appointment (and then I never had another issue in the several years I took my dogs there). Look, I understand things happen and sometimes emergencies come up or people get sick and there are legitimate reasons for need to cancel appointments but THREE cancelled appointments in under 2 weeks by different groomers is something else. Something needs to be done to work out whatever is going on. I'm simply not going to make anymore appointments there and will just have to drive farther out to a different grooming place which sucks because this location is only about 5 minutes away. :/ read more

I'm going to go all crazy cat-lady on you here for a minute. There's a new WONDERFUL cat litter system by Tidy Cats where you never again have to scoop pee. I love it but Petsmart as a general rule is ALWAYS out of the refill pads. Even talked to a girlfriend of mine recently about this who said she had the same problem and sadly had to discontinue her use of this system since she could never get refills. Well, no more! This location always has them in stock. In addition they have so far never been out of the Rx Science Diet foods, so if you have an animal with special needs you can be assured that they will have what you need when you need it. Cause there's nothing worse than driving 20 minutes outside the city only to find that it was all a waste of time. So, that's my spiel. Otherwise, since it's a chain it's what you would expect. But this location definitely gets a thumbs up from me for their superior stocking ability. read more

PetSmart - the poop on the floor from my visit 1/5/17 - Pet Groomers Near Me - Hanover, Maryland

This review is going to be based soley off the staff, services, and appearance of the shop. The offer the same products at the same marked up prices as most affiliated major pet shops (Petco, ect) and they're great for those in a pinch items or things like pet food when you can't get it delivered. The shop itself is in the Arundel Mills mall area; it's surrounded by all the restaurants, major shops (and Medieval Times) so you can hit up pretty much anything you need to for errands or to round out your day- even if it includes jousting and paper crowns. This Petsmart is pretty spacious, incredibly clean, well lit, and has a great selection of all your pet needs. (Nature's Miracle: can't live without that stuff with my somewhat incorrigible dog and hair ball filled cat.) The staff is helpful and knowledgeable; they'll check in on me when shopping but not in and overbearing manner. Someone is always easily found if you have a question. I haven't taken advantage of the animal hospital or obedience classes offered here yet (but if I do I'll be sure to rate them) but we did take our dog Benny in to the grooming service yesterday. Since it was our first time bringing him in we had to bring proof of his rabies vaccination (something I've never had to deal with in Hawaii but they let us know over the phone when we booked our appointment.) In person they were very through in their consultation with us over what we wanted to do. Our dog is some kind of weird terrier mutt mix so his fur grows fast and wiry, but it's really soft. We tend to keep him cut pretty short all around to make it easier on him - when his fur is long he smells funny and moisture gets trapped by his skin really easily so he starts obsessively licking which just exacerbates the problem. When we told the groomers we wanted him cut down short they pulled out a mat with examples of the different razors and the hair length options we had to make the process much easier. We then asked them to trim his face and tail down in proportion with his body. They did a great job! He came home with a very even, clean cut and look an perfectly happy. Plus he was spoiled with treats so I don't think he minded the ordeal so much. Overall it was about $50 dollars- totally worth it for the ease it brings to all our lives. We'll definitely be bringing him back. read more

Disappointing! PUPPY OWNER'S BEWARE! I scheduled an appt (bath/haircut) for my 7 month old puppy via PetSmart's website. Easy peasy. They emailed confirmation. Fantastic! Two days before the appt., they emailed asking that I check in. Woo hoo! Done! Two hours before the appt, they call me to cancel the appt or offer me just a bath and nail trim (FOR THE SAME PRICE) based on a claim that my pet's groomer called in sick. Not sure how the groomer's sickness is related to only providing partial service but clearly it was. I explained that my puppy definitely needed a cut but they were unwilling, again, due to the claim that a specific groomer had called in sick. After a failed attempt to find another groomer at other locations for the same day (impossible, I know) I called to express my disappointment with how things were handled. They offered to let me speak with a manager, but after holding for a few minutes, they told me the manager was not there (highly unlikely). They offered me an appointment a week later (With No Discount) to which I declined. The person I spoke to claimed she understood my frustration but she continued to correlate the groomer's sickness with them only being able to provide partial service to my puppy. I honestly believe they did not want to provide a hair cut because it was her first time getting a hair cut. I will NEVER patronize this store or salon again. One star is TOO MUCH! read more

The staff here is very friendly and the groomers do a great job. Our dog came home looking really nice, the groomer was friendly, and the price was a reasonable 51 dollars. The store itself though? Greatly overpriced in my opinion. Putting paw prints on a ceramic bowl does not make it worth ten dollars and I prefer to only shop here for items that can't be easily replaced like pet food we can't find elsewhere. Very, very, very helpful staff. They know a lot about cats, not just dogs. I went here for new cat litter, since Costco discontinued Litter Purrfect. The ladies were very helpful and had specific stories to share about each brand of litter, the pros and cons. They recommended the best cat litter at the cheapest price, which was like $14 for some 40 pounds. I even asked for auto ship. They out of the blue cancelled my order! no explanation no phone call; just cancelled. Didn't say what I needed to do for the order to go through just CANCELLED! I will never take my puppy here again! His appointment was at 1:00pm. The groomer said it would take four hours because it was the weekend and they werer busy. Five hours later, I got a call to pick up my puppy and when I got there they were still working on him. He was so tired and at that point he was not feeling it. The groomer had the nerve to lecture me about his behavior. The part that tickes me off the most is the fact that he was there for five hours and they did not do everything I paid them to do. I took my dog for grooming. I think this petsmart did a wonderful job on my little guy. I have a alaskan klee kai and he sheds a little and I just don't have the time to brush him for hours as needed so I decided to bring him to a petsmart grooming after a recommendation from a friend taking her dog to that specific one. The grooming staff were professional and extremely nice. The groomer took her time to warm up to my dog before she even took him back for grooming which I think is a major good sign considering he is really shy and unwilling to come near strangers in uncomfortable settings and I have gone to petsmart's in Greenbelt and Columbia and at least the times I went the groomers seemed to busy to really care to warm up to him and had a "yea ok what do you want and keep it moving type attitude" but not a in beyond rude way. It was just not to my liking especially on a busy Saturday morning. This petsmart grooming took about 3 hours because my dog got the furminator package and brushing and he looked great! now he doesn't shed barely at all compared to before I had to vacuum every morning (that was my laziness in grooming him better) but thanks to the groomers at petsmart they recommended things for me to do and to keep him on a regular grooming schedule with them to help with shedding. I definitely will bring my dog back to them for grooming and he smelled great and was wagging his tail and taking treat from the groomers. Overall, I think they did a great job and until they screw up which I pray they don't they found a new customer with me. read more

If you have a short haired dog cool but if you have a dog that has a lot of fur such as a shitzu DON'T waste your money. I've read the bad reviews before but was going to try them anyway. I've took my dog there for about 5months. They do a rush job because they have so many dogs. My dog always come home damp. There were two small mats on my dog's paw and they would never remove it. I left them there purposely to see if they were ever gonna get them and they never did. Then one young lady (Ashley) did a HORRIBLE grooming job on my dog. His hair on the top of his head was VERY choppy and UNEVEN. I called and complained and they redid him for free BUT the grooming job was still uneven. Then my dog had long eye lashes and the young lady mentioned above cut them OFF! Thankfully they grew back but who wants their eyelashes cut. I decided to take my dog to another groomer today and come to find that his ears were severely matted and not brushed out so the groomer had to cut his hair off his ears. I will NEVER bring my dog back here for grooming. read more

Very disappointed. Told them we desperately needed dogs nails trimmed - a $6 walk in appointment. However, I didn't want to wait on a walk-in so I scheduled an appointment for a bath and nail trim. The fish department people are nice but not very knowledgeable and it takes forever to get help from someone. I had my water tested and the lady looked me in the eyes and told me it was alright to put fish in (particularly neon tetras). 12 dead neons later I bought my own test kit and saw that it clearly wasn't in ideal condition for most freshwater fish (very high gh). They also sold me dying snails. This petsmart is only good for aquarium supplies but if you need fish and reliable advice I'd go elsewhere. I'm sure their services for other pets are great but for fish it's a no. read more
