My kiddo Chise loves coming here, and being able to check the cameras and see her running around, playing, and being loved by the team is really heartwarming. At other boarding or daycare places, she's often come home smelling like urine, but at Camp Bow Wow she's always returned to me clean and well cared for, which I really appreciate. During her most recent stay, they accidentally forgot to give her a bath, but they took accountability right away, waived my late pickup fee, and rolled the bath over to her next visit. I appreciated how professionally and kindly they handled it. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and Chise gets genuinely excited to see them at drop-off. I called to get a place for our 14 yr old Schutzhund III German Shepherd to stay for a day. I was shot down immediately by their ridiculous and rather onerous rule that they only accept animals that are spayed or neutered! Seems like it's for their convenience rather than a customers needs! I think they have tunnel vision to discriminate against animals that owners decide to leave intact for previous breeding reasons! Just my viewpoint, just seems pretty self serving to me! read more

Today two of my dogs didn't have collars on and the lady upfront charged me extra, 6 dollars for the two collars rental. I have been here at this Camp several times over the past few years and they never charged me for "collar rental". Yes, I have brought my dogs without collars on, several times. I could have been warned not to bring them without a collar on for next time or I will be charged but the front desk lady was not accommodating. **BEWARE** We took our two pups in for a weeks stay in June, only to have them come home with kennel cough. Only after their stay were we informed of an outbreak at the facility. When brought to Camp Bow's attention, we were never made whole for the time and medicine acquired to get them healthy again. Instead they quoted us their contract policy, rather than simply being human and acknowledging the issue and trying to come to a resolution. If I could give it ZERO stars I would. I had 2 previous dogs go there years ago and they mistreated one of them. I had video of it, they apologized and said to give them a second chance and if it didn't work out, we would agree it wasn't the right fit. They went back in for day care and my one dog (the one they mistreated) was on time out every time I checked the camaras. My other one was always out playing. I must say that Ritter can be a handful, esp since he was only a few years old and he's a boxer. WE agreed we wouldn't have him go there but that my other dog was allowed. Recently, I signed up my new puppy, he was 9 months old at the time. They emailed me and this is the response I got.. "We appreciate your interest in Camp Bow Wow Elk Grove. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate your request. I have read notes on your account from your past visits with a previous dog and unfortunately at this time we think it would be best that you seek services elsewhere." Now, I had went in personally and talked to them prior to my reactivating my acct and was told that Ritter could not attend but Whiskey was still welcomed, Whiskey has since passed, and it was my NEW puppy that we were interested in having attend. That was the response I got! This is a place that says they understand and are trained in Dog behaviors, yet they were not willing to even evaluate a 9-month-old puppy!! Their loss because he is going elsewhere as well as Ritter (my so-called BAD dog) and they LOVE him! Just beware that if you call them out on their BAD behavior your dog and any future dogs will be banned. I Will say we travel across the states, and we never had any problems with other Camp Bow Wows. read more

We did 6 nights of overnight boarding without knowing they crate the dogs overnight for 12 hours. I don't think I've ever kept my dog in a crate for 12 hours and would never consider that to be ok. At that point, I could've left my dog at home and had someone come over twice per day to feed him and let him out to pee. Camp bow wow will be used for emergencies only - if no one else can watch my baby. Absolutely Heartbroken receiving my dog back reeking of urine, a broken leash, and his bed completely soaked with Urine (he doesn't have accidents). If you want better care for your dog, go somewhere else. $288 to come home to a sad puppy. :( read more

We took our two boxers for their trial day. We were so worried, like dropping your kid off at daycare worried. The staff was very kind and understanding. They called twice to give updates and what they told us matched up perfectly with what we saw in the video. Completed an application for my 2 year old pitt/chocolate lab, their response was "we love all dogs but due to insurance requirements we are not able to take certain breeds." My dog LOVES all dogs and is properly socialized, but they will not accept her due to her breed. Going through some of the pictures posted of dogs enjoying their facility, many dogs are CLEARLY pitty mixes. So I guess they got a vet or someone to lie about their dogs breed. I have been taking my two dogs to Camp Bow Wow since they first opened, at least 10 years ago. My boys always had a great time there and we trusted the staff with their safety. They would have day care but we used Camp Bow Wow mainly for overnight boarding when we had to be out of town. Tobey and Bagel would always be excited when we got out of the car and into the parking lot and always left happy and tired. They've had some changes in management and upgrades to their play yards over the years and it's gotten nothing but better. I email the staff for boarding requests and they're so quick to respond. They even text me updates and photos of their day. The staff email me when the vaccinations are due for renewal and even told me that I could administer my own Bordetella vaccine for a fraction of the cost of what I've been paying at the vet (I wish I knew this years ago, ha!). They have camp cameras so you can watch your pup on their app. The staff are truly wonderful and you can tell they really care about your dogs and enjoy their jobs. It's the only place that has your dog out and socializing for most of the day and not just sitting in a kennel with outside privileges for 15 minutes 3 times a day. Recently we had to put our sweet Tobey down and I let Camp Bow Wow know. They were so sweet to send us a card with messages from the staff, it really made me cry from the gesture. We still have Bagel with us so we'll keep continuing to go to Camp Bow Wow. Thanks to the staff for loving and caring for our dear Tobey when he was there. read more

I had the best experience with Camp Bow Wow up until 2 months ago. I have been taking my pit bull mix adult dog here for a few months and she loved it. I then asked how old puppies needed to be to come in to daycare, they asked what kind of dog and I told them a pit/Rott mix. The lady at the desk then informed me after the first of the year they would not be accepting any new Pitts or Pitt bull mixes but my 1st dog can stay? Didn't make any sense. I called the corporate/main office twice asking to get a phone call back in regards to this new policy, didn't receive anything. So I am taking both my pit mixes to camp wag in west sac. Sad because I love 2 mins away from this camp. You all should know that it's not the breed of dog that chooses there temperament , it's how they are raised and treated. This place is awful. The dogs don't have anywhere to play but a concrete play pen. There are no toys other than some cheap plastic bridges. While watching the doggy cameras they offer, a dog pee in the concrete play pen, then watched someone clean it up 5 minutes later with a mop. The workers don't interact with the dogs, just walk around in the play pen. He also smelled like urine when getting him back. This was all during my dogs interview day. He won't be back again. If I could give a zero, I would. I took my 5 month old puppy there while we were on vacation. I was so hesitant to leave her, but ultimately chose Camp Bow Wow because of their cameras, knowing I could pop in and check on her. You can imagine my horror when I saw one of their workers DRAGGING my 5 month old innocent puppy across the play area by her collar (it had to have been choking her) and then tossed her outside the gate opening. I filed a report with animal control & they made contact with the owner. When I notified the on site supervisor, she would not provide me the name of the staff member & told me the owner was gone & not available. This very much seemed to me that she was covering for the staff member. I did receive a call from a "trainer" that worked there & she said she reviewed the tape & was very apologetic & said they would be doing staff training. I appreciated the phone call, but it does not undo the treatment that was done to my puppy ON CAMERA. Can you imagine what goes on when the cameras are off?? The cameras were "not working" all weekend both Saturday & Sunday, which makes me wonder if they were short staffed or something. I called daily to check on my girl & it always took multiple calls to even reach someone. Also of note, the animals are alone at night. So if there were to be an emergency with an animal, no one would know. Her bedding was filthy and reeked of urine. She has never pee'd on her bedding before. I feel absolutely sick at my poor judgement in leaving her at this place read more

I love this place but more importantly so does my dog. The fact he gets to play all day vs being in a kennel is the fundamental reason my dog stays here. I would not go on vacation if I had to Kennel my dog. The staff are exceptional and Buster loves them. My dog went here 5 days a week for doggie day care from 4 months - 1 year . The socialization he had has made him the friendliest dog I have ever had. The staff worked with him daily to help develop him. Read the negative reviews and ask if they would apply to you. This place may not be for everyone but it is the only place I will entrust for the care of my best friend, family member and dog. read more

We love Camp Bow Wow! We've taken our boxer and lab multiple times for overnight stays lasting three to six nights. Our dogs (one is six and one is 13) seem to love being here! They always come home in good health, are tired as they should be and of course are happy to see us when we return!. Never have we taken them back and they not want to return. That we could tell anyway. We've not yet trained our dogs to speak English so some of the above is pure assumption but, we are pretty awesome dog owners and feel we have a good handle on what they like and don't! The price for overnight stays are worth it and we get a discount for more than one camper. Our dogs also get a larger kennel so they can sleep next to each other. We've had their nails trimmed and baths during their stay. read more

I liked camp bow wow and really liked how they had cameras to watch the dogs. However, the last visit my dog was extremely tired when I picked him up, which i thought was normal from all the excitement and play. He became more and more lethargic and got really sick. He almost died from dehydration. He picked up Kennel cough there. I wasn't mad, I am aware this is a risk when boarding a dog. I also am aware that they make sure that all dogs are vaccinated who stay there. So this is not what bothered me. What really bothered me, was when I called to notify them of my dog's illness that he picked up there, they said a couple other dogs got sick from staying there the same weekend. But did absolutely nothing about it. They should have closed and bleached the place down!!! Kennel cough is highly contagious and spreads through airborne droplets. So it's no wonder my dog got Kennel cough there! They continue to spread it and put other dogs at risk. My dog is fine now after taking him to the vet, placing him on antibiotics, and fortunately I'm a nurse, and I had IV fluids to give him at home when he was so weak and couldn't walk. It's been a month and he's still recovering, but never again will I take my dog there. They don't care about the wellbeing and health of the dogs that stay there. read more

I came in to bring my dog who has never been to any dog camps or services before so I was extremely hesitant to do so. I was very pleased to receive the helpful service from worker Nataly. She was very kind to me and dog, immediately began to pet him and I knew it was a good choice to bring him here. After my vacation away, I came to see my dog who seemed very happy. He was happy to see me again of course but noticed he grew a connection with Nataly. I can tell this workplace trains well. If I could give more stars I would, recommend bringing your dog here and asking for the help of Nataly. She deserves to be paid more, camp bow wow if you reading this give her a raise right now! So far this place has been great! The staff is really friendly and does a great job greeting my dog when she arrives. They let her play to her heart's content and she has an absolute blast! The feedback is always appreciated and they let us know anytime she's really hit it off with a new friend! I would recommend some sort of electronic system to remind customers when their vaccinations are about to expire though. Absolutely awful experience. Wednesday morning I dropped off my dog for day care. Later I logged in the web cam (which is a very cool) to see our sweet shy golden retriever was backed in a corner by multiple dogs and they were taking turns humping her. She looked terrified. I immediately called the facility and 2-3 minutes later I could see a staff member come into the play area and break it up. If I hadn't logged on who's to know how long this would have gone on for and who knows how long it was going on before I logged on. My husband dropped everything and went and got her. Their excuse was that they are "really busy". Ultimately if you are so overwhelmed that you can't ensure the safety at your establishment maybe you shouldn't accept anymore dogs. My 17 year old spaniel was a therapy dog, and I know well the benefits of good socialization at an early age, so I started him at Camp Bow Wow when he was 4 months old. Now, Faolan LOVES to get in the car & starts yipping the minute we turn into their street! He's happy, safe & has a great time, then comes home wagging & exhausted. The name is a little ridiculous, but this place has the dog-loving, professional atmosphere that makes it easy to forgive the silly name. I came across Camp Bow Wow while perusing the the vendor booths at the 2010 Doggy Dash (Sacramento SPCA Fundraiser in Land Park). They were friendly and took a shine to my 2 year old American Bulldog, Montgomery. I can usually rely on friends and family to watch Monty when we have to go out of town, but last weekend everyone was busy with summer fun. I figured it would be a good time to try out a summer camp for dogs. To sign up, you have to call ahead to make an appointment for a free interview/observation day. First, they called my vet to verify that all of Montgomery's the shots are up-to-date. Then, I brought Monty in and spent 20 minutes to complete a questionnaire and tour the indoor/out door facility. Finally, I left Monty there for three hours on his own. When I returned to pick up Monty, I got a written report card and a certificate with picture of him playing with the other "campers" on his first day -- too cute. The real test, though, was when I brought him back later that week for for an overnight stay. When we pulled up he was STOKED! I knew we had found a good place for him. I was impressed with their cage-free day facility. It was clean and orderly, and they divide the "campers" by size and personality. They also have "Camper Cams" that allow you to check in on your dog during the day via their website (Which I did. Twice.) They also gave Monty a peanut butter Kong at night (upon request) at no extra charge. Elk Grove was a good 40 minute drive from our house in the Arden Arcade area, but it was worth it! read more

I've always been reluctant to leave my pup with people that I dont know but I was very comfortable with leaving him at Camp Bow Wow. Since we were coming from out of town we made sure to go to our local Camp Bow Wow in Anaheim to complete the interview to avoid doing this the day we dropped the pup off. I called a few days ahead to make reservations and so they could get our information from the Anaheim location. When we dropped him off the staff was nice enough to show us around and explained the features of their facility. I also really liked that I would be able to watch him play through the cameras that are set up. Another plus was that my pups was able to sleep in his own create inside of the room he was assigned to. Pricing - $40 for a one night stay and play time is pretty reasonable considering the higher cost of other boarding facilities. Im glad I researched and found Camp Bow Wow. My dog has been a customer at Camp Bow Wow from the grand opening with the original owner's way back when... My husband and I were in love with the center right from the very start. We loved the fact that our dog could go there during the rainy winter months and blow off some energy by running around and playing with the other dogs. Every time our dog would return home from daycare or overnight boarding she would returned home whooped as if she had ran a doggie marathon. We loved watching her interaction with other dog via webcam especially when we went on vacation ensuring us that our dog was having just as a good time as we were. The original owner would run special every other Fridays for half off daycare and once a year would have amazing specials on their overnight boarding. So, we would take advantage of the cost saving and our dog has spend countless night and would go to the every other Friday half off day care for I don't even know how long. When I called mid 2009 I was informed that Camp Bow Wow was sold and purchased by new ownership when I had called to inquire about half off Fridays. The new owner introduced herself and was very nice and pleasant and stated that she was encouraged not to have deals like the previously owner from corporate. However, she invited us to bring our dog in for a free day of doggie daycare. Since the change of ownership the original staff is no longer and there are all fresh (young) new faces. All of the staff was helpful and friendly. There was an altercation my dog had encountered with another dog and staff member back in the beginning May of 2010 while she was being boarded overnight. There was a lack of communication and accuracy by the staff and owner that left us feeling uneasy of the entire experience. Since the experience we had boarded our dog a few weeks after the altercation (prearranged) later that May and even brought her in for one of their promotional daycare days in December. At this time I am unsure if I would bring our dog in for daycare, but I can say that we will not board her since we are not 100% comfortable leaving our dog at Camp Bow Wow overnight. Bow Wow camp is an awesome service offered to dogs from daycare to overnight boarding. It is a great way for a dog to go and release some energy and have a great time with other dogs and the staff. read more

I don't know why anyone wouldn't take their beloved dog here. They get so much attention at this place and get to play. Maybe I like it because I only have one dog so when she is at their facility, she gets to play a lot - and when she gets brought home from their, she is already so tired that it's like having another night off from the dog. This cost may be a little high - I thought so at first. But then you have to remember that they get to play with one another all day instead of just sitting in a kennel by themselves. The staff is always so nice and pleasant here that I never have a bad taste about this place. Leave your dog here next time.
