Past employees have reported these abuses including shooting up water up a dog's nose, one of my friends even caught the guy slapping a dog. My dog was cut badly, she is a Havanese with a double coat so it is hard to see injuries and cuts after they happen. Immediately after getting groomed she started behaving weird and was not being herself. After three days she started being lethargic and couldn't move her head. We discover a nasty cut that was hidden under her collar. The cut was so bad and infected that my pup's collar was stuck to her rotten flesh with pus and dry blood around the injury. We immediately took her to the vet to treat the infection and stopped grooming her here. The groomer failed to report any cuts. When I called he played dumb and said she wasn't cut during the grooming. It was clear that this would become a he said, she said situation so I couldn't do much, he does this to everyone. This was clearly a deliberate cut, her haircut is NOT short and I if you know how clippers work it's impossible to get a cut with longer haircuts. Please read the reviews. Please don't bring your pets here!!! We took my dog in for a grooming once with the owner and she came back with a nasty cut on her neck which got infected. No one told us she had been cut. They put her collar back on her trying to hide it which ended up getting stuck on her because of the pus that was oozing out. My poor baby was in such pain! Just la few weeks ago my friend took her tiny 5 pound dog in for a grooming ,with the owner as well, and when they got home she realized her dog was acting strange, shaking and wouldn't let anyone touch her. She took her to the vet and turns out she had a broken jaw! Poor baby had to have surgery and is excruciating pain! There are several reviews here stating that their pets come back cut or hurt after a grooming. Even one stating that a former employee called her to let her know that the owner abuses the dogs and after what what happened to our dog and now my friend's, I believe it! Again, please do not take your dogs here! They are helpless and can't speak up for themselves. I took my puppy for his first grooming service at a Petco and did not like the outcome. It didn't seem like they did much and he didn't look pretty after! I decided to try Pet's Place Salon since I know people who take their dogs here. I called to make an appointment and was scheduled for 1/26 but was called a week before the appointment with the salon saying the groomer is out sick and we will need to reschedule. We rescheduled to February. I was called the day before the appointment and was told I'd have to reschedule again since the groomer is still sick. I was a bit frustrated since this would be the second time rescheduling and I asked if anyone else can groom my dog. They said the other groomer is pretty booked so I told them I'd like to fully cancel and not reschedule at all. Five minutes later, they called again and offered to squeeze me in on the day we were scheduled for but a bit later in the day. I thanked them for doing so and expressed my appreciation. They reminded that proof of vaccination for rabies and bordetella (kennel cough) is needed. I showed up with the vaccination records and I'm glad this is something they verify with their customers. They asked what kind of cut I wanted. I told them whatever looks best in their professional opinion and I wanted his face more neat since hair was covering his eyes. They took notes of what kind of cut/style would happen. They told me it would be about 2-3 hours. I didn't receive a call until 4 hours later that he was ready and was informed they take debit and cash only. When picking up my dog, I loved his haircut and the groomers did a really good job! I previously had my pooch's nails trimmed here, and they did a great job. I am truly bewildered why this place does not have perfect ratings...Enrique and his staff are awesome! My fur baby (11lb chihuahua) was recently doing some major butt scooching on my carpets. This normally tells me she needs an anal gland expression. I had an appointment set with the veterinarian, but it was a week off. I rolled into the Pet's Place Salon just minutes before closing (on a Friday!), and found Enrique preparing to close shop for the weekend. When I told him what was going on, Enrique graciously agreed to see her. He expressed her glands but they were empty. I tried to pay him, but he refused. This man has integrity. He also saved me an expensive visit to the vet. Next time will be bath time for the baby... read more

If I could give a lower score I would! We took our Australian labradoodle here for years since he was a puppy, we did this in hopes he would be more comfortable with the groomers instead of skittish. It takes time for him to get used to something so we always took him to the groomers more frequently than we would normally do it. We stopped getting because he came home one day acting really strange that whole day into the evening. I went to give my doodle a hug and he started yelping, there was a hole in his chest and it was leaking I must've reopened a wound. We been suspicious of the groomer and were sure it was their fault we decided to never take him there again. Few months ago by probably around 6-9 months range I believe. My mom receives a call one morning and it's a young lady on the other line who apparently used to work at Pet's Place Salon and worked with our dog. This was surprising because so much time went by and we were wondering why the call. This young lady went on to explain to my mom how her and her mother worked there together and were recently let go for whatever reason. I don't remember if she disclosed it. But they were both no longer working there she continued, she then illuminated the nature of her call by saying she witnessed the owner of the salon abuse dogs and one of them was ours. My dog was a puppy and was a regular there until he was 3 mind you. She didn't work there all 3 years I think she was there for a year and a half or something like that. But enough to catch on. She said how our dog was well behaved for the best of his ability, one of his last visits he nip her mom but said prior to that the owner squirted water up his nose causing him to not breathe and freaked out possibly. Duh. My mom was livid as I'm but sure kudos to this young lady for speaking out I guess. She's young so hopefully she will learn but they didn't say anything when they worked there but say something when they get fired? Our dogs suffering which we try so hard to never show him abuse, wellbeing was not being thought about that whole time! Only when you felt slighted did you say something. If they still worked there we would've never known. It was very emotional experience for our family. Our dog doesn't talk he barks and sniffs. He can't defend or speak up for himself. The authorities couldn't do anything because it was a he said she said situation. Whatever. But I'm writing this so all dog owners can know the uncensored raw truth. We have been loyal in taking our dog here, Morgan being our groomer. Our puppy is very sensitive with his nails being cut and Morgan informed us that our puppy bit her while cutting his nails (which can be a risk factor being a groomer which is why we sign waivers and show proof of vaccines in the first place) she informed us she will charge us extra which we were fine with and we also tipped her on top of her charging us extra. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was after numerous attempts to reach her and make a grooming appointment she has not responded to any calls, voicemails, text messages. Called the groomers and they informed us that she will no longer be taking our puppy due to him biting her (even though she has taken him one more time after the incident), there was no communication between Morgan and our family regarding how serious the incident was and did not even inform us she will no longer be accepting us. It truly falls down to customer service and the professionalism for all grooming industries and this was not the place to gain that respect and professionalism. Do better. read more

She happened to have a cancellation the following day so I brought him in and she greeted us and made us both feel welcome. She observed my overgrown golden-doodle and told us exactly what she needed to do which included shaving his ears as he still has puppy fur along with growing adult fur and it was matted along with the top of his head. She put him on the table and got acquainted with him while I was filling out the paperwork and got to observe before leaving. We have gone to 2 other groomers and did not feel like they listened to what we wanted or our concerns like she did. She even gave us suggestions about his teeth and ears. The rates are very reasonable and I'm very happy I googled this place and called and didn't go off the reviews as they are outdated and they didn't have Morgan as their groomer. Very irregular one time it's great the next my dog doesn't even look like he was groomed.

So we've been taking our dog here for the past year. We were a bit weary at first because the lady that was going to groom our dog was a bit harsh as far as customer service goes. After our dog was finished the first time, we realized that this groomer in particular worked really well with our dog, which in turn, had us coming back. We groom our dog every 6-8 weeks depending on the weather, so we came pretty often over the past year. Fast forward to now, a few of the groomers had quit or let go or whatever, but the woman who had groomed our dog is no longer working there. Someone had called us to reschedule without telling us she wasn't going to be grooming our dog anymore. When we took our dog this last time around, the lady who was grooming us called to inform us that our dog needed to be shaved down because he was matted. I said okay, that's strange because I brush my dog nearly every night. But I understand if he's matted, that we'll have to shave him. I come in to pick him up, and he had the worst shave marks that were not blended out on his chest, and some red marks on his skin from the clippers. I asked once I picked him up all the spots where he was matted, and all they told me was that he was matted behind his ears. So there really was no need to shave him down to his skin every where else. I get it when there is mats, and I have no problem with the shaving but I have taken the responsibility and educated myself to bush my dog nightly and have asked the groomers what tools to buy and how to use them daily. I'm not ignorant nor do I disregard a professional when they tell me what areas to focus on when I groom my dog daily. They also told me that he was too aggressive and if he didn't stop, I'd have to bring him back for another appointment. We had never had a problem with him being aggressive with anyone, and our dog is pretty well trained to listen to basic commands from paid professional training. (We have a three year old who tries to ride him daily and has almost no reaction to how rough he is with him.) So it was hard for me to believe that, especially since he loved seeing his last groomer every time. We decided to try to give them one more chance with the gentleman that still works there and scheduled an appointment but then they called and cancelled the appointment and we have yet to hear back from them to get our dog on their schedule again. It's been nearly two months since they've cancelled. I'm pretty sure after that, we are going to be taking our business else where. On another note, they also are a cash only spot. Overall, I used to recommend this place to friends with dogs, but I've started to let them know that their reputation is falling. Excellent service been coming here for years my dog kilo loves it here and they always give him treats and give him the cutest ties and scarfs after every grooming ! The owner and the staff are extremely nice and treat us like family ! I'd never take my dogs anywhere else I even drive 25 mins and book months ahead because I went thru several groomers before finding the perfect salon for my pups . I took my dog here for the first time to pet's place salon, for a nail trim The man who was doing his nails was so unprofessional and very rude never will I recommend this place to anyone, very horrible customer service, this man needs to be removed and should not be working with any animals, or customers, I explained to whoever I spoke with on the phone before hand and told them my pet has a hard time getting his nails trimmed. They told me no problem. Bring him in, the man only did two nails and didn't want to finish and wanted to charge $10 for only cutting two nails. I asked if it's possible for me to hold him, he said we can not do that and proceeded to be very unprofessional and wanted his money. I said sir why should I pay for a service You didn't do you only did two nails, that's when he again started to be very rude and unprofessional. I really wanted to like this place. I have been taking my dog to Franklin Ranch for dog grooming, but something has happened to their groomer and they haven't replaced her. They recommended Pet's Place. When I dropped my dog off for his appointment I immediately noticed that they kept leaving the dogs attatched to the grooming table unattended. This rubbed me wrong because I have heard of dogs stepping off the table and hanging themselves. They were pretty busy when I went in and there was no receptionist to help with incoming/outgoing customers or phone calls, which is why the groomers were always walking away from the dogs on the table. My dog desperately needed a cut and because of the high yelp reviews I felt like perhaps I was overreacting. So I left my dog in their care and returned 2 hours later. When I picked up my dog the groomer pointed out a cut behind my dogs ear that was bloody. He said it was a tick and they had to remove it. I thought it was really odd because my dog doesn't go into brush or fields and has never had a tick, not to mention it didn't make sense that he would have a cut and be bloody where a tick was removed. I should have asked to see the tick, but I really just wanted to get out of there. I just had a feeling that he was lying but didn't have any proof. When I got home I further inspected my dog. That's when I found three razor burns/cuts on the inside of his hind legs. I have always gotten his hair cut very short for summer and no other groomer has left him with wounds like these. I also searched what a tick wound looks like after removal and none of them look like sliced skin. Unless he removed the tick with scissors, the story doesn't make sense to me. It is not a deep cut, I would have been much more understanding if he would have just apologized for knicking my dog than saying there was a tick. Needless to say I won't be returning. read more

I researched groomers trying to find the most perfect one to take my cocker spaniel puppy to, knowing this first visit would be pivotal in how he would perceive going to the groomers in general. I wanted nothing more than for him to have a positive experience. And that's exactly what we got!!! I dropped him off at 9 am and got the call to come pick him up at 11:00. When I got there, he was calmly resting in the crate. The salon was clean and open and the people were friendly and easily understood what I was looking for, for his first haircut. We will definitely be going back!!! As a matter of fact we are looking forward to it. Prices were reasonable and comparable to all the other groomers in Elk Grove but well worth the price for proper treatment of my pet. This place used to be fabulous! Now they've doubled their prices, give horrible cuts, cancel appointments and take much longer than they used to to get any grooming done. And through all of that (leaving you high and dry by cancelling appointments you made months in advance with no ability to reschedule) they're not even nice about it when they mistreat you. And try getting them to answer their phones or call you back? Not going to happen in a timely manner. If they're treating the humans (who pay them) this way, how are they treating our dogs when we aren't around? I gave them two stars just because I remember how great they used to be. I took my puppy to pets Salon and because he's a puppy there's certain restrictions and vaccines that needs to be done. Sam was very informative on this for me, she even helped me understand some of the vaccines the breeder provided and why my vet did one of them over. After we figured that all out, I told her the breed of my puppy and she informed me on some cautionary with the hair of the breed and I totally understood. My pup is a pomeranian and I have had family pets that were pomeranian but our groomers never informed us as much as Sam did about their hair type. On top of the fabulous service and cute hair cut, Sam also called me to check about my pups trachea, because he's a smaller dog collapse trachea is very common. So she called me to give me some advice such as using a harness instead of a neck collar. You can tell the workers here enjoy their job and are very good at their job just by their knowledge. I will definitely be back!! Nowadays it's so hard finding a groomer that actually cares for your pet. Also, I'm very glad they don't over book like petsmart or petsco and end up leaving your puppy in the cage for 3 hrs before getting their hair cuts. I've had pet appointments where it literally took 4-5 hrs before I could pick up my puppy. And at pets salon, I picked up my pup within an hr after dropping him off (my pup is also small so might vary per pup) read more
