I haven't seen any behavioral issues as result of their time at camp, and they are nice and tired when they get home :-) The staff has been consistent since I've been there and they definitely know my dogs. I have no clue how this place is rated so high. My only assumption is that it close and convenient. I tried this place three times now. I gave the place another try with my 3lb poodle, Lulu, because the groomer that did my golden specialized in small dogs. She did a good job. I was happy with it. She wasn't sweet with Lulu at all either. Oh well. So already, not great experiences. FLASH FORWARD TO RECENTLY. Each time, it is so chaotic and busy. I took my 3 pound poodle there on Wednesday, April 20th. My poodle is super tiny, and requires a groomer that knows how to handle a dog that small. I called to make appointment and found out the lady who had been grooming small dogs forever, had retired. No problem. I asked if my dogs size would be a problem, as I know she's difficult to groom. They told me the new groomer was great, and there wouldn't be a problem. I drop Lulu off for her appointment. I barely get home, and receive a call from the groomer. She sounds worried and concerned, and says Lulu has bruising all over her crotch area and down her leg. I was obviously shocked. I asked if it could be dirt or something, and she immediately shot that down. I turned around to go get her. Super worried. Upon arriving, I looked at the "bruises" and once again asked, did you try to wash it off? She quickly responded, yes! She then went on to tell me that Lulu could have only gotten the bruises from a severe impact. And went on to question me about how they could be there. I felt super judged. This dog is beyond spoiled, and there's no way she could have gotten bruises. After asking a third time if they tried to wash it off, I started to get worried. I ended up having to take her to the emergency vet down in Tucson. Waited there. They took her back, and came back out in 5 minutes. IT WAS DIRT. Of course I could have tried to wash her "bruises" off myself, but in past experiences, I've always trusted a groomer that they probably know more about dogs than me. And I didn't want to rub an area that potentially was bruised. I digress. I should have taken her somewhere else after that. But I didn't. I rescheduled for next day, Thursday, April 21st. I was very clear with the groomer that I didn't want hardly any hair cut off. Just a super slight trim. And that we are growing her hair out for teddy bear look. It has taken us SIX months to grow her hair out from her summer cut last year. It was just getting long enough to be super cute, like a teddy bear cut. The girl said she understood. Flash forward to picking her up. It was a ZOO. I honestly feel bad for the people that work there. It's such a chaotic environment. GROOMING PART She was cut SO SHORT! And has bald patches in several spots. She also has a decent size CUT on her neck, and then on the inside of her thigh/belly. Her ear hair was cut with a harsh line. And her body is short, while her leg hair is long. Then around her neck, she's almost bald. I was shocked, as we discussed something completely different. And now all her hair was gone. I called back, and the groomer, Shelby, sounded super upset. And told me that Lulu was really wiggly, and she just wanted it to be even. And that she was matted. Also, that she does her best. Umm, she was slightly matted on her legs. The hair on her back wasn't even long enough to matte. And that makes no sense, because she left her leg hair LONG and made her body super short The groomer was young, and sounded like she was starting to cry. I felt super bad, and told her it was fine. I mean, we've all had a crap day at work. But as the days have gone on, the more flaws I see in the grooming. I tried to explain to the groomer, Shelby, that she needs to communicate more. If she can't complete the desired result for a client, that's fine!! But you have to TELL THEM! I would have much rather her called me and told me what was going on, and I would have taken the extra 25 minutes to drive to a better groomer in Tucson. It really sounds like she cut too short in one spot, then kept going to try and even it out. I know it's just dog hair, but it's kinda sad. My dog looks NOTHING like any type of hair cut I would ever choose. I honestly hate it. She looks like a rat. And now I have to wait another 6 months for it to grow back out. And also, the cuts. The cut on her leg? Ok, stuff happens, but her neck!?! Heck no. I've never had such a poor experience with grooming. IF YOU CANT DO WHAT IS REQUESTED, LET THE CLIENT KNOW. I swore I'd reviewed Camp Bow Wow Tucson when we first moved to Tucson about 10 months ago, but I can't find my previous review. Suffice it to say I have been a happy, loyal customer ever since the first visit. I really liked that they do an assessment first, but since it's been many day care visits and a few boarding visits by this point, I will reiterate that it's so great to not only receive an exemplary level of service from such a great, caring staff, but also to feel so welcomed and a part of the business and this area. Of course, the most important thing is how the dogs are treated, and they are treated extremely well. We have three dogs in the 65-70 pound range and they're not the most well behaved dogs in the world, The caregivers/guardians are skilled in both canine and human socialization (ha!). Seriously, though, the dogs react to them so well, and they have great customer service skills as well. Sometimes when we drive up, they see our car and they are ready and waiting for us. They're really sweet and caring and just take great care of the dogs. They really handle communication so well (tell you how the dogs did). And that goes not just for the staff - the caregivers/guardians and the desk staff (Valerye in particular, but also Crystal and Chuck (I really like Chuck too)) - but especially for Linda, the OUTSTANDING manager (but more on her in a minute). They also manage to handle check in and check out really efficiently. When we lived in Kansas, our local doggie daycare/boarding facility was not the fastest at check-in or check out(we really liked that place as well but to be honest, it was a time consuming process to check in for boarding and sometimes even for day care). But Camp Bow Wow Tucson is ALL OVER IT, MAN! You walk in and BOOM, they're ready for you. And if they're not instantly ready, it will be a minute or two and that's all. And when you come to pick them up, same deal, they're ready to go, it's easy to pay. And they have easy to understand pricing with no stupid add-ons like some other places. And the groomers do a great job as well. I love the convenience of having their nails trimmed while at day care. A couple of additional notes. First, I mentioned how great Linda, the manager, is. She handles communication really well, sometimes she will call me if I make an online inquiry or if the staff member I initially speak with feels it's something Linda needs to handle. And when that does happen, Linda calls promptly and expresses herself clearly, answers my questions, and makes me feel welcomed and my business appreciated. Second, today I had my first visit following the easing of the stay at home restrictions, and I was VERY impressed with the way they've addressed the COVID health and safety procedures. There was a plexiglass divider at the front counter, every staff member that I saw was wearing a mask, and they offer to come to your vehicle to take your dog(s) in if you'd like anyway, but I am comfortable going inside wearing my own mask, and seeing all the staff wearing theirs as well. I mean, for God's sake, the guy in the HEALTH / VITAMIN store wasn't even wearing a mask, yet the Camp Bow Wow employees are all doing so, and I'm glad they are. Believe me, we checked out quite a few local dog care facilities when we first moved here and are thrilled to have selected Camp Bow Wow. Was very dissatisfied with the grooming service we received for our dogs recently. They barely cut their hair for a full service, left uneven all over their body and some areas not shaved at all. Could not see the groomer we were supposed to have to do the grooming, they said she was late and left a cash tip they kept at the desk. Very unprofessional. Very poorly done. If you're anything like my wife and me, your pets are part of your family. Choosing a place to board your fur babies can be a difficult task. You want to make sure you are leaving your pets with someone you can trust. My wife and I have previously used the Camp Bow Wow in El Cajon, CA and even had a membership at one point before moving to Tucson. We chose Camp Bow Wow based on its reviews. We also chose Camp Bow Wow because they have live cameras where you can watch your pets just in case you miss them throughout the day or just want to check in on them. My wife and I were going to be visiting family in California and we were interested in using Camp Bow Wow in Tucson. We wanted to save money and take the dogs with us, but we knew they would be much happier if they were at doggy daycare. Because of my previous experience with the Camp Bow Wow in California, I decided to try the one here in Tucson. When I took my dogs to the Tucson facility, they were in love and so excited to be there. The staff was so kind and friendly, and you could tell that they loved animals. I boarded my dogs for 6 nights and by the time I picked them up they were happy and exhausted. I loved the fact that I was able to watch our dogs while we were away on vacation. They always had so much play time and there was always someone with the dogs in the play areas. The thing I love about Camp Bow Wow is the fact that they have an assessment prior to doggy day care or boarding. You are able to watch the assessment and the entire day is completely free. Knowing that they take the time to make sure the dogs that are socialized is comforting. They also have half days twice a week. There ended up being an error with our reservation and I e-mailed Camp Bow Wow the night I picked up my pups. However, Linda called me first thing the next morning and was quick to fix everything. The fact that they are so on top of communications there and take the time to pick up the phone and call and apologize means a lot. I will definitely continue to take my dogs here! Great customer service. The people here genuinely care about your pets. They take the time to get to know your animal's personality. Unlike most kennels, the dogs play in yards most of the day with other dogs, segregated by size. They are well supervised and never left alone in the play yard. I boarded my dog at Camp Bow Wow for 5 days in Oct. I thought I had peace of mind going off reviews and being able to see my dog via their webcams, but I was WRONG. I would not recommend this place for boarding to anyone. During my dog's stay I would periodically check the cameras at different times and he was no where to be seen. I called and they advised me he was being forced to nap during the day. When we picked up my dog, he was anxious and scared. He had an eye infection and inflamed paw (please see attached photos). When I called to follow up, I spoke to Amanda (the manager), they plead ignorance and did not apologize. I was excited to find this place because I didn't know it was there and really thought about taking my puppy when I realized it was a doggy camp! But... they have a gate to ENTER (right side of the building) and another to EXIT (left side). I entered through the wrong side. *honest mistake* I was only there to deliver a package. I took my long haired German Shepherd to Camp Bow Wow after reading the Yelp reviews about the company. I had used a service that came to the house previously. It was extremely expensive and not a complete result. When I went to pick him up, he was happy and VERY handsome. The groomer obviously spent lots of time with him. This is an amazing place to keep your beloved dogs. The owner and staff were so friendly and supportive to me when a family emergency came up. They interview the dog, see how the dog interacts with other dogs, and provide a tour of their facility. Very straightforward on costs. One of the best things I loved was being able to download their app and see Marlie when she was either in their indoor or outdoor play area on their camcorders. That was great! I really liked how often they were allowed to be in the play areas with other dogs suited for them.My husband picked Marlie up and she was not in the least bit stressed from the time spent there. Ridiculous staff, ridiculous establishment, will never be back. Our dog had a 10:30 appointment for a meet and greet and we called in to check whether we can be just a tiny bit late. They confirmed a 10 minute grace period for appointments. I sped at 75mph in order to rush through the door at 10:40 and they told me I'm late and told me to leave. Then they proceeded to tell me I absolutely needed to be here at 10:30 because dogs need to "go up" and the interview can no longer be done. If that was the case, when I called to confirm 20 minutes ago, why the hell was I told there is a 10 minute grace period. Ridiculous. read more

This kennel is the worst place to leave an animal. I left my yorkie there for only 3nights. When I picked up my dog she was covered in diarrhea. The employee didn't even notice or care. Took my dog back in and spoke to manager, she just made excuses. Got home my dog was vomiting and diarrhea. Took her to vet is was so bad. Vet put her on antibiotics. Pretty sure that means there is an infection! Called manager again she was unprofessional. Wouldn't return my calls until I said she wouldn't be getting paid. Same thing happened to my daughter she has 3 yorkies. They were sick for a week! Do not use this kennel. Employees don't care! read more

I arrived at the time I was told for my dogs' interview to attend camp. I was very rudely told by the manager that I was 30 min late & would have to reschedule. I tried to explain that the appointment time I was given was when I arrived. She walked away while I was speaking. For anyone who loves there pets.,,,, I will never book an overnight kennel reservation at Camp Bow Wow again!!!!!    I call the facility and made the reservation 4 months in advanced.  The individual I spoke to was pleasant and she looked forward to caring for Bella.   I called the facility one day prior to check in and asked what I needed to bring for Bella....blankets, beds, dog toys, treats and if I needed to bring her shot records.  She said everything looked good and to make sure I dropped her off before 6:45 PM.   I arrived at 6:15 PM to be verbally accosted by the owner why I did not drop her off before 5:00 PM.   Then one of the workers said my dog was banned from the day care for aggressiveness.  Needless to say I was completely surprised by their tone and combative verbal abuse.  It was over a year since the last time I used their boarding facilities and was never told there was a problem with my dog.  If I didn't have an early flight the next morning, I would have never left Bella in their care and found an alternative.   When I picked my dog up her bedding had been peed on which indicates she was left in the kennel for an extraordinary amount of time.  I am extremely unhappy with their operations!!!!!!!  I would not let my EX WIFE stay there..... read more

Took our dog to camp bow wow several times for the day camp. A few days later, I found ticks on her. This was the only place my dog had interactions with other dogs. When I called to inform them, the owner was very rude and inconsiderate of my dog. She said that is impossible and stated she didn't our business. It took us several months to get rid of the ticks, not to mention I was pregnant at the time. We will not bring our dog back to camp bow wow. read more

This place is cute with its camp themed decor. My dog doesn't care much about decor though... We've used them several times and my dog seems to enjoy herself here. I like that the dogs get to play rather than be locked up all day. The staff are exceptionally disorganized. On more than one occasion I've booked a boarding stay and grooming, and they either "forget" or can't confirm the grooming. I'm not sure if there are actually two businesses here, because they do not seem to communicate at all. (And I've heard the groomer yelling at dogs through the closed door while I was in the lobby. Not cool.) I've made reservations by phone and they get the dates wrong. I've made reservations by email and they get the grooming service wrong. I've grown to accept that whatever I reserve, I need to call and confirm... TWICE. Most recently I tried to make a boarding appointment and was told my dog's bordetella had expired. I take my dog to the vet regularly and she is up to date on all her shots - believe me, my vet will not pass up an opportunity to charge me for something if she can! I was told that they require bordetella every 6 months, even though my vet says it's an annual thing. When I asked about their rationale, I was told "Don't you care about your dog??!" You know, I'm fine with having a conversation, I'll gladly listen to a logical explanation, and I'm certainly fine with philosophical differences. But when some dog sitter speaks that way to me, they have lost me as a customer. read more

We are in Oro Valley in the winters and have a 10 month old Coton de Tulear who doe NOT like to be left alone. We golf, so obviously we needed to find somewhere for Bandit to stay while we were on the golf course. We decided to try Camp Bow Wow although I was a bit reluctant due to the size of the facility, I was looking for something more personal to begin with. The first time Bandit was left there he wasn't all that thrilled, he wasn't unhappy he just didn't play and have fun with the other dogs like I had hoped. I was told this was normal for a dogs first day there and that typically they adjust quickly and start interacting with the other dogs. Sure enough, after 2 other visits he now hops out of the car, tail wagging and doesn't even look my way as he is being led back to the dog area. They know him by name and are excited to see him and comment on his personality. We like the cleanliness of the facility and the fact he is happy and tired when he comes home is a positive sign. To show how honest and customer focused these folks are, today I had a package that was misdelivered and it turns out it was dropped off at their business! I've been using camp bow wow for years and they have taken nothing but excellent care of my dogs. One gets frequent diarrhea, and the staff are very friendly and always call us immediately to notify us of medical concerns (in my case diarrhea). Linda makes sure all of his medical needs are met and our dogs always return home tired from all the play time they had. 10/10 would recommend! read more

My husband made an appointment for our dog, took a copy of his rabies shot certificate , which the girl at the desk made a copy of. When my husband took our dog for his grooming appointment, the same girl that made a copy of our dog's rabies shot certificate, told my husband we need your dog's rabies certificate; otherwise your dog can't be groomed. My husband told her you made a copy of it when I made the appointment. She processed to tell him "well I can't find it"! She was very rude.
