I recently moved from California. Evaluated several day camp facilities. The owner toured me and provided abundant information. My dogs had a great "Interview day" and I also had a good experience with the Grooming staff. My dogs had their first full day yesterday, and seemed to have a great time. The front desk check in seems quite backed up, but maybe i just hit "rush hour". But I'm pleased with this facility and will try the Boarding next week. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. I have used this facility several times in the last five years. For the most part, up until the last visit a few years ago, we have been satisfied. However, on our last visit, one of my dogs became severely dehydrated along with an intestinal infection which cost $2,000.00 of vet and hospitalization bills. I never asked for a refund or partial payment for the vet bills. I thought it was a fluke. I did call and let them know of the occurrence to help them identify if it was a recurring problem. After that incident, I just had someone home sit since it was always in the back of my mind. So move forward, thought to try them again with same animals. I called yesterday to setup an appointment to board. I was confronted by Andrea saying I would need to bring the dogs in if they were not boarded with them this last year for an interview. Andrea was quite customer unfriendly on the phone but she explained it was corporate policy. I asked if the owner could call us since it would be 100 miles for me to bring the dogs in for another interview. I explained they were just seen by our vet and would supply a copy of their records before boarding. I told her that we would bring the dogs in the morning to which which she said I could bring them anytime since the interview would be shorter than our initial one and we have been prior customers. Well, I travel the miles to their location only to be told they couldn't do the interview in the afternoon unless we had in hand a copy of their vaccinations. They would need to stay for 3 hours for interview. I attempted to call our vet but they close early on Wednesdays. Andrea, with an authoritarian attitude, said she couldn't help us or interview the dogs unless we could provide the records. I told her she never stated that to me on the phone and her reply was I say the exact same thing to everyone. Ok. That is not true. Then on top of her with a ridiculous autocratic presentation, a customer picks up her dog who has had several days of diarrhea??? Andrea enlisted the rude behavior of her own along with this customer to attempt to keep saying it's the rules! I said we spoke on the phone yesterday, travel 100 miles and I can produce all paperwork via fax as soon as we get in contact with our vet. She told me there wasn't anything she could do or help us. I asked her to use some professional discernment. Well, believe this place has slithered itself further down into a poor unfriendly customer service incompetent business who maintains an extremely unprofessional staff. All I needed to hear was another dog walking out with diarrhea. Yikes. Good luck. read more

I am giving this location 2 stars rather than 1 simply because my dog was safe and healthy after her 3 day stay. The cameras were down for an entire day, even though this was lauded as a major benefit of the camp. The staff was helpful via phone, but they were not present in the small dog kennel for most of the day. The kennel area was quite overwhelming and loud. The play area was small and when the cameras were working the dogs seemed to just stand around or sit against the walls and corners. The owner checked us out at the end of our stay and she was very abrupt and rude. She tried to charge us individual kennel fees when our dogs had stayed together, and then blamed us for her error. read more

I've visited lots of kennels in Tucson, and most of them are really sketchy with apathetic staff. Camp Bow Wow was very clean, everyone was friendly, and seemed to sincerely like and care about dogs. I like that there aren't any extra fees for normal things. The kennels are large and look comfortable. Because it is also a doggie day care the dogs don't sit in their kennels all day just waiting for someone to come take them out. They do an assessment on every dog before they are accepted, so there are no aggressive dogs. Then the dogs are separated by size and temperament into different indoor/outdoor play yards. There seemed to be enough staff to actually keep an eye on and interact with the dogs. I also like knowing that everything is on video, and you can even check in on your dog on your smartphone. The prices are completely reasonable for the nice quality of care they provide. So far I've just used the initial free day of daycare, my dog seemed really happy. l feel confident leaving him there for longer. read more

We tried several boarding places before we thankfully found Camp Bow Wow. My dog loves this place. I have done the day camp and boarding for short and long trips. My dog is well treated, has a ton of fun playing with everyone, and I can rest easy knowing he is safe! I am so thankful to have a place like this to watch over my baby when I can't! The staff also is excellent and you can see how much they love dogs when watching the web cams. read more

I found the employees to be officious and incompetent. One told us one thing and another something else, with the result that I ended up wasting half a day and $20. Basically, I was told that I could board my dog there even though I had forgot to bring the papers proving documenting his shots. Specifically, i was told by several of the employees that if I got a vet to given him two treatments (bordatella spray and a distemper shot), or if I administered the medications myself, he ewould be allowed to stay. After considerable searching, I was able to buy tthe medications. I told the staff once more of my intentions, and they said that would be fine. Then, just after I finished administering the spray and giving him the injection, I was told that I could NOT borad my dog, because it took 3 days for the meds to take effect. My dog did in fact have all of his shots, but I couldn't prove it because I'd left his papers at home in Oregon. The bottom line is that I was misinformed multiple times and could not board my dog. Therefore I could not stay in the hotel I had booked. So, in summary, the staff was rude and incompetent. I will never visit them again. read more

My pet goes to Doggie Day Care fairly frequently because I like him to play his little heart out. The staff seems very caring and know him by name. I have not been unhappy with the overnight care either -- I just haven't done it too often. The grooming department is the only area that perhaps could be improved. It is fairly small and very busy. I'm sure that is just because it is hard to find qualified groomers in the area. In the interim, perhaps it would be best to limit new grooming customers until they can be properly handled. They will often ask the owner upon pickup if their dog can have a treat. Tucker loves them!! I haven't tried their training yet, but hope to look into that soon. It's a great facility and a boon for this side of town!! read more

We left our dog there after two "meet and greet" sessions. We knew he was shy as he hadn't been around other dogs much. However, he hid behind a piece of "furniture" the whole time we were gone, and they did nothing to encourage him to come out. When we picked him up, he was soaked and smelly from where he had been sitting. We felt he had been ignored, and will not go there again. I like that the dogs are not placed in a kennel and get socialization with other dogs. My dog is a rescue dog, and whenever he is put in a kennel he gets upset because he thinks he is back in the pound. I definitely will use them again and will recommend it to my friends. Becky K. read more

My dog comes home exhausted and happy. The employees show a real concern for the dogs. I also appreciate the fact that they enforce the vaccination rules. We have boarder out dog - Smokey with them ever since they opened. We love the idea of the dogs being able to play and socialize with each other during the day. In other kennels the dogs are put in kennels and pretty much left there. Camp Bow Wow is great with the dogs, and they even have app that lets you see your dog while you are away. Also they offer very good groomers and Smokey goes there for that as well. read more

The BEST Grooming service around. Dani (my groomer) started with 2 of my Yorkies and is also now doing my 3 baby Toy Yorkies and soon to add another 3 puppies to her list. Dani and the staff at Camp Bow Wow are the greatest. All are warm, friendly and really care for their clients, both humans and dogs. I was disappointed with the staff. I took my family member to a new doggy day care (Camp Bow Wow) to play in his new home. We just moved to Tucson so everything is new. We did a meet and greet and everything passed. He was a bit nervous with the move and getting to know the new environment. He is active and I take him to day care in seven other locations across the western US. Never any problems. The staff always love him and he enjoys going. At Camp Bow Wow he started to climb the small half door, nervous. But I knew he would be okay. Not the first day care he attends with half doors. When I left for work I asked if they had my phone number and to call if there were any issues. No call. When I picked him up they (not the nicest or caring way) said my dog who has never been turned away was not welcome back. He climbed the doors and was a danger to other dogs. (15lb Jack Russell). Okay, I can accept this part, I think. But instead of calling me and letting me know, so I could pick him up they put him in a kennel for the rest of the day. If I wanted my dog in a kennel I would of left him at home. When I left him I watched the video for 30 minutes, never tried to climb a gate. The worker at the beginning had warned me, several times that if he climbed the gates he would not be able to stay. I had no worry and was shocked when I returned to pick him up. I get it, it takes time and energy to make a new, nervous dog feel comfortable, not afraid and like part of the family. I was disappointed and will look for another play ground for my family member. read more

One star is actually too high of a rating! I have used Campbowwow for the past three or four years. And over the last few visits, I have discovered that the care at this facility has really "gone to the dogs." I have a small so who does not require much. To help assist the caregivers, each time my dog has come to their facility I have taken the time to type out my dog's instructions so they can place it in her chart and follow them without confusion. In the past two years, I have had to call them and send emails after each visit. The first time was because when I looked in on my dog and watched for about 20 minutes, they had placed a few larger dogs in with the smaller ones. My dog was in a corner the entire time. I checked back about an hour later my dog was still there. I didn't understand how no one had noticed this over such a long period of time. The next time, I got her, she was filthy, she had a strong smell of pee all over her, and she ended up so sick I had to take her to the vet because she was having such a hard time breathing, something she had no prior issue with before. He said she had contracted an infection and had to be placed on antibiotics. If there was a sick dog in care, I asked why was I not notified? This last time was the last straw. While away, I kept looking in on my dog and every single time, I'd see my dog was either in a corner alone or jumping on the gate to get out. Caregivers came in and played with other dogs and they would ignore my dog and another white poodle who was also constantly sitting in a corner. I noticed the poodle would also get up and jump on the gate. But they were ignored. Out of concern, I sent in a complaint using their online link. I had been home two weeks before someone reached out to me about my concern. After paying over $300 for one week of care, all I was told is that the caregivers are instructed not to give any dog too much attention as this might cause the other dogs to be jealous. I corrected the direct by letting her know that I have looked in and seen caregivers petting dogs. When I originally brought my dog to this facility, I didn't care how much it would cost because whenever I looked in all the dogs were being petted and being loved on. Now, this facility is being run more like a terrorist torture camp then a loving dog camp. My baby will NEVER go back there again. I was going to inform the director of what I witnessed of her behavior of two dogs she was walking when I came to the facility, but I knew it would be in vain. She's a mean-hearted person who should not be overseeing the care of people's fur-babies. I think she's just all about the money, which would be fine if the care that you get matched the price you are expected to pay. I would not EVER recommend this place to anyone as long as it is under its current manager. RUN AWAY from this place, don't walk!!!! If you take your dog here, please don't say you haven't been warned! read more

Our five year old Labradoodle has visited many doggie day care facilities when we travel, and this establishment exceeded our expectations. It is the cleanest and best managed day care operation we have ever seen! We appreciated the behavioral assessment prior to her first visit since this indicated that only well socialized and well mannered pups would be accepted. We were greeted every morning by name and our pup happily pulled us to the front door. The staff knew our car and had our pup ready when we returned in the evening with a daily report card and special doggie treat. The owner/manager, Linda, is highly professional and genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction. She demands the best from her employees and has managed to assemble an exceptionally caring, conscientious crew that exudes professionalism, competency and love for our four-leggers! We were thrilled with the grooming! The groomer listened to our preferences and our pup had the best hair cut she has ever received. The groomer took notes prior to the appointment and asked us questions about how we wanted her to look! The video-cam allowed us to watch or pup romping and playing, and see the staff interact with her. We will make this Camp Bow Wow a regular destination. read more

Our dog stayed at Camp Bow Wow for 5 days. When I picked him up he was sneezing, shaking and coughing. He was sick for a week and, we had to take him to the vet. The rooms that the dogs played in were over crowded and not always supervised. It was painful watching my dog on the dog cam. I will never leave my dog here again. read more

My two dogs are like my kids and I hate leaving them behind, but it's important to get away from reality once in awhile. I feel very comfortable leaving them at camp bow bow, the hours have always been very convenient for us. When I bring my boys to stay, we are always greeted with a smile, and I can tell the staff is focused on my dogs. I love that I can watch them over the website. It just makes me happy to see they are doing alright. Picking them up is the best part, they are so happy to see me, and the staff comments on how good they were and how much they loved having them there. Also, a few months ago I called to make a reservation, I made it for only two of my boys, and the lady asked about our third dog, Jack. I said "he passed away last week", I think she was about to cry, and was very sympathetic to our loss. Two days later, we received a sympathy card in the mail. That card, along with others, is sitting next to Jack's ashes. read more

Very Professional and friendly staff. The atmosphere is very welcoming for dogs and pet owners. I was put completely at ease when leaving my dog, Moby, for the first time.The doggie cams are wonderful for owners to view their pets at a glance for that peace of mind. I was so pleased upon picking Moby up after his first boarding experience. Not only was he in great spirits, he was given a report card that told me about his stay and how he behaved and even the names of the dogs that he made friends with. Camp Bow Wow was our rescue dogs first positive interaction with other dogs. Not only did our Moby learn how to play nice with others, I as a new pet owner to a rescue dog, learned so much too! In addition to all these great experiences, I have to add that I love that I can schedule to have my pet bathed and/or groomed before I pick him up. The groomers are fantastic! Excellent place! I take my Chihuahua mix to the Camp Bow Wow in Avondale and they are equally as great. I was in town for a convention and the location in Avondale was full. We had a horrible experience at camp bow Wow. Our first time going there and we left our 5 month old puppy in their care; within an 1/2 hour we were called and notified that our dog had been injured. She now walks with a horrible limp. The staff and manager did not seem to care. Management did not offer to assist with any of the vet bills or follow-up care for our pup. The company really does not seem concerned about the dogs or customers. Will never visit the establishment again. Very unsatisfied customer. read more

For the last two years we have been using Camp Bow Wow for our two Havanese. This last time we needed to leave our two darlings for 23 days. It was great that we could watch them everyday on the internet TV that is available even though we were in Southeastern Asia. When we got back home our two dogs were great, and at first I wasn't certain they wanted to go home! I think Camp Bow Wow is a great place because our dogs are extremely safe, and second because of the caring staff who monitor and supervise the care of our dogs. My dog Tyler loves his days at Camp Bow Wow. He is always eager to join his little buddies for a day of fun. I appreciate the staff, who are clearly animal lovers, for their enthusiasm and competence in handling all the pets that are left in their care. Our cairn terrier Abby loves this place. I had her go for day camp when she was just a puppy so she could romp in a safe environment with other dogs, have had mixed experiences with local dog parks. We boarded her for a week and for occasional weekends and she has done very well. It is great to be able to watch her play on camera no matter where we travel. We have had only the best experiences with the staff, they remember Abby and are very good with her. read more

I must say that the beginning of our experience was not 5 star but when we picked our girl up that is when my opinion changed. Let me explain: I called on Monday late afternoon to request day camp for Tuesday since we had used a different location a year ago the girl said she would get our records and call me back in a couple of hours. Ok I waited I called back in a couple of hours to see what she found out and she apologized she didn't get any of my information (I wondered about that but thought they had caller id) so she would have to take my information and call me right back, which she did. The other location could not find us so we would have to do the application and have a quick interview before we could leave her. She has been left several times at different places so we weren't worried about her attitude towards other dogs. We were met by the owner Linda she was all business, after several minutes talking to us and seeing our girl she introducing our girl to a few dogs she told us to go on it would be ok. We headed on with our day knowing that our girl would be having a good play day. After about 3 1/2 hours we return and Linda asks to speak to us outside! My heart went into my throat, what had happened was when Linda went back to observe our girl she noticed a questionable spot on her so she had placed her in a pen away from all the other dogs. She advised us to have it checked out. We were at a loss I mentioned that since we were out of townwers we had no idea where to take her. She was very kind and ask us to wait a few minutes she was going to make a call. When she came back she had made arrangements with her vet to wait on us they were just up the road from where she was at. Wow what a turn of events! I must say that she is the only person in all the years that we have boarded that I felt like really took the business seriously!!!! We were very very thankful that she saw the spot on our girl and was proactive and protective of her other clients. I must say that the people in this area are very lucky to have this wonderful facility to leave there "furry" children. Thank you again Linda!!!!!
