Yet majority of the time, I have been lucky to get a reservation here. To make a reservation, you will need to go on Camplife.com and select Camp Edison as your location. Reservations open up 6 months prior to your desired camping dates. So if you want to camp around June, you will need to get on the reservation site around December and compete with others in the reservation process. Reserving for May-July are the worst; similar to reserving at Yosemite National Park. It can be frustrating as you will be assigned a random number in the queue at 8am on the dot; so make sure you're logged in at least 15 minutes prior just in case you encounter connection issues. You can be either #1 or #1000; it just depends on how many are on the site at that given time. You also have a time limit to make your reservation or risk to having it swooped by another camper if you fail to do so. I recommend making your reservation on a desktop and not on mobile as you might have issues with cell signal. As far as the experience goes, I just love camping here. Sites are adequately spaced but other "Loops" may be a bit spacier. Most sites are RV/Trailer accomodating. Electric meters for eac site, communal water stations, hot showers (shower card needed) and flushing toilets. They also have a Camp Store near the Check In Booth. There are also vendors that drive around that sell firewood. You can also rent boats at the Shaver Lake Marina, and if fully booked, you can try your luck at the nearby Sierra Marina. Walking distance to Shaver Lake and a few mins drive to the Shaver Lake town. I highly recommend this campgrund if you're lucky to snag a spot online. Also, you can pay for "Day Use" only - which basically is equivalent to a Day Pass. Good luck!

We complied and we went about our night playing a game. An hour and a half went by and another lady from Edison came to tell us to quiet down. We get there's a curfew but there was no need for then to come twice. That truly made my experience here a bad one. I think next year we will be going to Bass Lake.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at Dorabelle campground and feel compelled to write a review…read morebased on the cleanliness of the bathrooms, Lol! The camp hosts take great pride in keeping the place clean, we saw someone cleaning the bathrooms multiple times a day. I'm telling you, you would never guess that these are non-flushing restrooms. They were immaculate. We stayed at spot #60, which is in the lower part of the loop and was a very short, easy walk, to the lake. The site was perfect, not too close to other sites so there was some privacy, and only one site away from the restrooms. Fair warning though, you do have to take some steps down from the parking spot to the actual site, so if you have a lot of stuff to carry, just be aware that you will need to travel down about 5-6 steps. The site itself has decent shade, the picnic table and fire pit are in great condition and there is a very nice, clean, open and perfectly flat spot to put your tent between two trees. If you forget something, "town" is just outside of the campground entrance, within a few minutes you have access to restaurants, and other stores. Somehow though, you feel off-grid, even though you are so close to town. We had full cell phone service, even though we chose to stay off our phones, if you needed to use them you totally could. Overall, I highly recommend this campground and we really enjoyed our stay

We will definitely return! I have to give a shoutout to the camp host Jamie! She is such a sweetheart and beautiful soul. She made the stay feel extra homey. It was a bit cold at night lowest 42 I believe and highs were 64 degrees. During day it was nice and warm with the sun shining. Ensure to bring lots of warm clothes to bundle up in the evening and be kind to the campground. Ensure to pack anything that was packed in to keep the area clean. Oh and be aware, you can hear wolves and coyotes throughout your stay. Ensure to keep all food put in a tote safely and in the provided camp storage so the bears are not attracted to your campsite. Keep a close eye on the little ones at all times!

Fun lake experience which makes for a great "beach day" when you're camping in the local area…read more There are many coves and areas to park and setup camp next to the water. On the north side of the lake are three pay parking lots. All three are viable and you don't need a 4x4. We set up around lot 3 one day and had a great time. Secret place. There's a free small parking lot in front of the Lake Watersports Marina. However if you drive south less than a mile from this marina you'll see a nondescript gravel road. Drive down this road then take the first left road and you'll see a small parking lot. This lot is right above the secluded beaches. Parking here will put your car much closer to your perfect beach spot. Tips - There are a few marinas on thia lake but I would NOT recommend the Sierra Marina. Their equipment, specifically their Kayaks are old and broken down. Also, they're not located in a good Kayak spot. I'd much rather recommend Shaver Lake Watersports for Kayaking.

This was one of the easiest and most fun rental experiences we've had at any lake we've been to. We rented a small eight seat pontoon boat. The price was super reasonable, fuel was included, and the whole process was easy and enjoyable. It was perfect for putting around the lake and going for a swim at various coves. We brought lunch with us and had a wonderful day. They also have larger boats, wave runners, and kayaks available. Definitely anything you could need to enjoy a day on the water. Five stars.

The issue I had with Sierra Marina was with their kayak rentals. The service and the price wasn't…read morethe problem. The issue was with the kayak itself. It was well past its prime. One of the backrest clip loops was broken (kayaing without a working backrest is horrible), and the deck hatch was so old that water leaked right into the hold causing flooding. It also appears that this Marina knows about the kayak flooding because they drilled a custom drain hole in the back of the kayak for flooding drainange. These issues weren't realized until I was already on the water. Obviously basic expectations of a kayak rental weren't met. The previous day we rented from Shaver Lake Watersports and they had all new kayaks. So new that they still had the brochures attached to the kayaks. Perhaps that's why SLW cost $10 more an hour to rent.. I guess you get what you pay for. As others have said, it's teens working here on a summer job. Nothing wrong with that of course but they're not really trained to look for issues with a boat (or kayak in my case) before sending someone out in the lake. They also don't have knowledge of Shaver Lake's boating laws. The kid that launched me said that everyone was required to wear a life vest. After looking it up, the law states 12 and under must wear a life preserver. I took it off when out of Marina sight. Tip - if you're staying on the lake as a "day use" and are thinking about renting a kayak, make sure it's for half-a-day or full-day rental. For anyone mooring a boat here, the marina is well maintained and makes getting on and off the lake easy. Several boaters I've talked to have had positive experiences with the docks and marina services, and it's a great home base for weekends on the water. One tip: get to the Edison parking area early on busy days because it fills up fast, often by 10:00 AM. Such a fun lake only about an hour from Fresno. Love coming here to fish, relax, and spend the day on the water.
