This place has a bar/saloon and also a restaurant. Both places have the same menu and the food is prepared in a food truck outside the building. They only serve breakfast in the summer months. The bar has table service as well as the restaurant. We ate in the bar side as a party of 5. Service was a bit slow but friendly. To eat I had the classic cheeseburger, which was a pretty standard burger. The onion rings on the side were great. My husband had the Brie and bacon burger, which he really enjoyed. A more unique item on their menu is the Huli Huli rice bowl, which my father-in-law said was delicious. Overall pretty standard, average mountain bar fare. read more

When I arrived at 4pm to check into cabin 6A , I was greeted by friendly staff members. Unfortunately, they couldn't find the key to my cabin. They were joking about it and one staff member even said she had cabin 3A's key "at her house". Then the male staff member had us drive ourselves to cabin 6A to see if the key was in the cabin. The key was in the cabin along with half eaten food, dirty sheets, and a horrid smell. Not to mention, we were unable to park in the cabin's parking spot due to ice and when asked if we could park elsewhere we were told that we'd "deal with that later" and that if we park in the street to be careful of snow shed. The male staff member's car had shattered windows and a completely dented side due to snow shed. We then go back to the check in area to see if our cabin would be cleaned. Though they did offer me a different cabin, it was not the cabin I previously booked. I was quite uncomfortable with everything: the staff member stating they had keys at their home, our cabin being dirty, the unprofessionalism demonstrated by staff, and weather concerns which staff did not go out of their way to help us with. We left and did not stay at the "resort", I will not be visiting in the future. I was kind throughout the entire process. I was saddened when I had to email them for a refund and the owner, Lev, went back and forth with me trying to justify why I wouldn't get a full refund. The owner even tried to cover for their staff member saying they had outdated keys to a cabin, when I am sure she said "I still have keys to cabin 3A at my house". The smell came from a gas leak which I was never told about until I emailed for a refund. I would not stay here if I were you. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I overheard a racist comment from the bartender at the bar of this resort. She said "this is why I don't like Latinos" to a family sitting next to us at the bar. First time out in this area and it did not disappoint. From what we understand, this property has been recently purchased and is undergoing renovations. In the meantime, we were able to rent three, renovated cabins on the property. Party of nine and it was so much fun. Escape the everyday chaos of Los Angels and truly become one with the epic nature and views you're surrounded by. The resort staff was so nice and the food at the property was beyond delicious and reasonably priced. They also just opened a brand new general store to service the area. Took the kids to China Peak (a four minute drive) to snowboard for the day. This is definitely the first of many trips, especially because they are in the middle of the building a gorgeous resort! Did not have a great experience on my 51st birthday in March. However, the manager Holly reached out and last night my wife, nine year old daughter and I had an amazing dinner in the Lakeshore restaurant. The wait staff were welcoming and attentive. The main courses and the deserts were delicious and not the usual mountain portions. They were huge! I have been going to Lakeshore for 51 years now and I will keep going back with my family to the restaurant if it continues with this level of service. Great spot!! The season was in a lull 2 weeks after Labor Day. Not summertime and not ski time. But a large group of us, 28 total, were staying in Shaver and needed lunch and libations! Bartender Hayley and the cook Lisa were able to fill all orders, have patience, and deliver delicious food in a timely manner! They were both so accommodating. Ya know, when we go out, that's all us patrons desire, right? Just be accommodating! These two ladies get a standing ovation from all of us! I attended a wedding and stayed here for a few days. We had the best time, it's a beautiful campground and the lake is gorgeous. The bar food and the fancier menu were great. The bartenders and other staff were amazing and super cool. Huntington Lake Resort & Marina First thing to know if you've never been here, the cabins are located slightly northwest of the Huntington Lake Resort & Marina's address that's listed which is on the other side of the street and are NOT located off the lake as I thought from looking at the pictures. As a mater of fact you can't really see the lake from the cabins (because of the pine trees) so don't expect that. Don't expect a host or a person to check you in because that doesn't exist here. So with that being said, here's what to know... Make sure you know your cabin # prior to arrival, (they'll text you that info but I was already at the lake and didn't have cell service), your cabin door will be open and cabin key will be left on the table. Our cabin (#7 ) Rustic with back porch patio view i can barely see the lake through the pine trees. It had a double sized bed with clean bedding, a kitchen with a coffee pot, filters, sugar, creamer & coffee cups however it does NOT come with coffee grounds to make coffee (so you'll need to bring your own coffee grounds). The cabin had a clean bathroom with a shower and complimentary shampoo, conditioner & a bar soap, however the cabins DO NOT SUPPLY TOWELS EITHER, (Booking.com does NOT specify that, which is how we booked our reservations here). Once we got here we saw a cabin that looked lived in with some really nice people sitting on the porch who we were able to ask about towels needed. The kind gentleman walked my husband to a near by cabin perhaps maybe a residence who informed us that the cabins don't come rented with towels supplied and said Booking.com doesn't say that unfortunately... (so just know to bring your own towels had we known), but he was so kind and brought us clean wash clothes and towels. We paid $188 on booking.com for Sunday night (Labor day Monday), I thought it was kinda high priced for what was not supplied) but it was our Anniversary & Labor Day weekend and we were here for a music event that benefitted the Firefighters. All and all we did enjoy our stay here. read more

Been a while since we been here. Walked in and it's so relaxing and welcoming. The wood fire was going and warming up the entire area. Great music playing and just overall such a great environment. Carla was a very nice and respectful bartender we enjoyed her company. Poured me an amazing old fashioned drink to help relax in the beautiful scenery. Nope, you sure couldn't - because "housekeeping" could not and would not "fix" exposed nails, exposed tack strips, degraded / non existent carpeting. Moreover, if your staff had done proper housekeeping to begin with, there wouldn't have been literal colonies of spiders, egg clusters & cobwebs - nearly everywhere. The audacity of this "resort" to pass their half-assed (read: non-existent) cleaning as "wElL ItS ThE MoUnTaInS AnD wE HaVe SpiDeRs N tHe MoUntAinS" is laughable. Nah bro, that cabin was trash & there are literally PICTURES TO PROVE IT. So before you try to shift blame onto me & make me look like some mean, entitled, flat-lander, city-slicker who can't appreciate the mountains... Maybe do some actual housekeeping. Maybe repair that tired ass 1973 linoleum & maybe AT LEAST cover the exposed nails & tack strips. I never once wanted to purposefully denigrate you guys. I'm offering facts & y'all are placing the blame back on the customer. Because you have exposed tack strips, which I had the * gasp * stones to share? Yeah bro, for $170 / night or more I've stayed in WAY better places in far more remote locales. With zero exposed tack strips, nails, etc. The owners there cared enough to simply repair those things & not try to blame the customer or say "herp derp it's the mountains." If cabin owners tried that in Tahoe, they'd be out of business real quick. LOL read more

SCAM. RV Resort is a joke. I booked six months in advance and paid in full. We drove through a couple weeks prior to the reservation and was surprised that the "road" to the rv resort was an unpaved, one lane road with sharp turns. Not safe in my opinion to tow a 32 foot trailer through. The location with the rv spots looked like a construction site. We were disappointed to say the least and felt like the website was falsely advertising its accommodations. We cancelled 22 days prior to the reservation. According to their cancellation policy - cancellations within 28 days of arrival will forfeit 100% of the deposit. We paid in full without a deposit. 100% of the total booking charge becomes non-refundable for same-day cancellations, no-shows, and early departures. They did not refund us ANYTHING on the reservation and also kept a resort fee and cleaning fee for a site we never stayed at. I'm not sure what the difference is between their cancellation policies forfeiting the deposit and 100% of the total booking fee because they kept 100% of my booking fee. They also would not respond through email or phone as to why I was not receiving some part of my fees refunded to me. I was scammed out of $318. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

I read the other bad reviews prior and thought for sure these can't be true... well the cabins are gross, run down, not maintained, dirty. Any place that has a NO REFUND policy should automatically throw a RED FLAG. Putting Covid and massive tree cutting aside, those things are not included in my 1 star review, my family have stayed at numerous mountain hotels & cabins before and know what should be expected especially at $170 per night; the check in process was not friendly, they also failed to inform us before our trip began that all electricity would be shut off a full 9 hours during our 2nd day and the fridge & lights wouldn't work and to bring food to eat bc all the restaurants and places to get food would also be closed for 20 miles and if you don't catch fish in the lake than you'll be eating dry cereal. We finally are allowed to check in, not 1 second before 3:30pm bc the "housekeeping" is cleaning and restocking the cabins... the cabin was not clean at all, the table was filthy with old caked on dirt, the carpets looked like someone was killed, at least it would've been dry blood, cobwebs everywhere like something you'd see on the movie Arachnophobia, the spiders have moved in and created amazingly long thick and killer homes, in doorways, covering the ceilings, making their beds in huge gaps in the walls, corners, windows etc. Back to housekeeping, for a family of 4 we were given 2 bath towels, no hand or face towels, no soap in the bathroom, the shower was disgusting with blue/green streaks of ?? and a hair ball under the shower curtain. Bring your own camping gear to cook stuff on bc the pots, plates, utensils etc are not cleaned and/or they're so old that the rust and age is not safe. The lake is close enough to fish but a boat dock for tourism is not available or they didn't talk it up so we rented a boat from the Huntington Lake marina about 3.5 miles away!! There was trash and old steel tools and equipment everywhere on the property also stray dogs running wild, they were nice but it was strange. The 1 star that I so generously gave to this "resort"was for the restaurant/bar food and staff members (who actually are by themselves 5 stars), the food was delicious and the workers were spot on!! Needless to say I would not recommend. my young kids who grew up with snakes and spiders the size of tarantulas were grossed out and wanted to leave but with no refunds we stuck it out and lived to tell the adventure. Rustic is WAY different than dirty, not maintained or given any pride towards these cabins. Doors have dinky locks, windows are patched with cardboard, the furnace hasn't been cleaned in decades, and not all rooms have smoke detectors (my moms room didn't have smoke or carbon monoxide), the gas ovens/stove tops maybe had 1 burner working, our ovens handle was broken so you couldn't open or close it safely and seriously didn't use it bc who knows if it's been checked and didn't want a huge fireball going up in my or the kids faces. read more

We stayed in one of the cabins. Beautifully renovated. Super clean and the beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms were all new sink, toilet and shower stall. Love that they kept the rustic appeal with original doors and windows. Cute little replica Frigidaire mini refrigerator. Microwave and coffeepot too. The heater works well and kept us plenty warm and plenty of hot water. Wish we could have stayed longer such a beautiful view of Huntington. Just a stroll to the water. Pat read more
