I've been bringing my pup here for several years now and it has never been better. The young, dynamic and very competent staff are clearly dog lovers and it's so nice to see their enthusiasm and know that they love their jobs ( it doesn't seem like it's work to them....). The owner is often on site and and has a nice rapport with his staff, The entire atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. My pup loves going there and a half day happily wears her out. Added plussee are grooming and dog training on site, boarding and extended hours (now open Saturdays). I recommend them highly! read more

Okay.... it actually sucks that I have to do this because my fiance, puppy and I LOVED this place initially. I hate talking poorly about places and hardly ever leave a bad review but if people love their dogs the way we love ours, you need to hear this story. We did our puppy training here in October and loved the outcome. Our puppy was listening and the instructor was stern but great! During the training our puppy was attending another daycare because I didn't know Camp K-9 offered daycare. In January we decided to switch daycare for our 11 month old lab because he was getting really sick from attending the other one (I won't drop names). Upon switching, we needed to pass an eval for Camp K-9, which I loved because I could tell they were professional and cared about the safety of the other dogs. He of course passed and then started daycare here a few days later. Everything was going great until about a couple of weeks ago (February 11th). My fiance went to go pick him up and the staff told him that he was "way too hyper" for daycare and " he attacks dogs when they come in" and we needed to call in before bringing him in to make sure they would be going outside. I was already annoyed at this because how inconvenient is it to have to call and ask if your dog can come to daycare, which we pay in FULL for. Why are we bringing in our puppy when it's convenient for them when it's a service they're supposed to be providing for US? And for the record, our dog does NOT attack dogs ever. He is an extremely active dog. We take him to the park everyday he isn't at daycare and see him interacting with dogs and people constantly. He hardly even plays with other dogs at the park to be honest. All he is interested in is his tennis ball. For them to say this was shocking and we couldn't even believe it. Anyway, our puppy seemed to love it so I decided to just abide and call in each time. I told the woman I spoke to and it was made clear that we'd have to bring him in some days even if they were inside all day. She said "we'll figure it out." She also said "he is a wonderful dog and this is our issue. not yours." I was relieved and happy again because I trusted her. Yesterday I called to see if they'd be outside or inside and the front desk girl (extremely rude and always in a bad mood and seems inconvenienced by you ALWAYS) said they'll be inside because of the wind so I said thanks and hung up. We needed him to go to daycare because we were getting our carpets cleaned and he really couldn't be home for that so I called back and said, "I know they're inside today but we don't have any other option but to bring him in." Front desk girl rudely replies: "Just so you know he'll be in a "suite" all day." I said "excuse me? is a suite a cage?" She replied "yes, a 4x6 cage." THIS IS NOT OKAY. Why would we pay $500 for our dog to be put into a cage for 9+ hours and excluded from the other dogs because he's "too hyper." Is that not why we're paying for daycare in the first place? To get our puppy's energy out and get him socialized? How many times was he put in a cage? It makes me sick to even think of someone treating him like he's a bad dog and punishing him for being a young, happy and energetic puppy. After this conversation I demanded to talk to the manager and after a call back from her I told her that our trust was completely gone and we could never bring him to this facility ever again. The manager said "I thought we were in agreement that we'd take care of it." I had no idea that meant, put my loving, kind, gentle boy in a CAGE ALL DAY. This is something I would have never agreed to. If I wanted to I could put him in a cage at home all day for free. She also again said "if you could just get his energy out..." I'm sorry but that's what we thought we we're paying for when we signed up for Camp K-9. During this convo with the manager I demanded a refund, which I got today (so, in 1 day). It was nice they were understanding and acted on this quickly. While we very much appreciate that, we couldn't just let this story go unheard, especially after seeing a similar review on here which matches our experience somewhat. It's a shame this had to go down this way and we wish Camp K-9 the best, but we will never recommend this place to anyone ever again and will take our business elsewhere. read more

Camp K9 in my experience has been phenomenal, attentive, caring, and professional. My dog Sedona was adopted and extremely timid and shy. Jason and the staff originally told me that she was not ready for daycare and she failed an evaluation. I appreciated this honesty! They didn't want to take my money and just throw her in there. I also feel that the negative comments regarding their dogs not passing an evaluation and/being told they can no longer come to the daycare have a lack of knowledge and understanding of how dog packs work. Jason creates a safe and fun pack of dogs and they have to work in harmony. If there is a dog too shy, that dog is likely to get picked on even by nice dogs. If the dog causes problem, they unfortunately cannot continue to come. Let's all be realistic about doggy day care! This isn't a magical place where all dogs have no problems! After working on Sedona at home, we were able to transition her into daycare and she is doing well!!! She loves it. I have been there many times and have taken obedience classes here as well. The place is clean and well kept. Does it smell like a flower shop? I'd think not. But the fact that a place that has a congregation of dogs may have an odor here or there is expected and normal. Jason and the crew are professional and always keep us up to date. They are quick to give us tips and pointers to help Sedona at home. They genuinely care. read more

5 stars does not do Camp K9 justice. This was the 3rd daycare my English Bulldog (Winston) and I have been to while moving around the Philadelphia area. Jason and his staff are the best of the best! The other daycares we have been to have been adequate, but Camp K9 goes above and beyond. It may even be possible that Jason cares more about a dog's safety and happiness than its owners. His team (with the help of the pack) does a great job of exhausting your dog. When Winston (a veteran daycare pup, mind you) first started going to Camp K9 he couldn't be woken up after getting home. He would be in a deep slumber for over 24 hours. Jason's staff is so caring and attentive I never worried about taking my dog there. He gets allergies and sometimes scratches himself open. When he did this at daycare they made sure to call me immediately, and let me know his status, and asked me how I wanted to proceed. When it would rain too heavy, the dogs would have to come in and Winston didn't do well with that so they called and informed me of his status, separated him from the pack, took care of him and calmed him down so that by the time I picked him up a half hour later he was no longer shaking and nervous. When after returning to daycare from an injury (not sustained at daycare) I would call to make sure he was doing alright and the staff gave me a detailed update on his day. I've never boarded Winston with Camp K9 but only due to never needing it. There is absolutely no one I would trust my dog with more than Jason and the Camp K9 crew. I am picky, selective and overprotective of my dog and this group gets my full recommendation. Camp K9 is in a nutshell: great prices, incredible and friendly customer service, a place where everyone knows you by name (well actually they might not know my name but they sure know my dogs!), and a tiring and fun day of group play for your dog! read more

Camp K9 has been the best thing we've ever done for our little Marlo. He absolutely LOVES going to camp and can barely contain his excitement in the morning. Plus, he's EXHAUSTED when we pick him up at the end of the day. The camp counselors here are incredible. Friendly, loving, caring - everyone knows him by name and he can't run to Nicole fast enough during drop-off (pretty sure Marlo might love her more than either of us ). They look after him as though he were their own dog - they have helped me find the right food for him when we struggled for many months, were able to offer recommendations for local veterinary specialists, and offered some great tips to help get his digestion issues under control. Camp packages are very reasonably priced and seeing how happy he is and how much fun he has makes Camp K9 truly priceless for us Love this place and will always, always, always recommend them to anyone in the area! read more

Jason is a genius. We just moved from a rural area to West Chester. Tugboat is a St. Berdoodle and he is strong and can run. There are a zillion squirrels and he went after every one. I called Jason-and in 15 minutes, I had a new well behaved Doodle and I was a new well behaved Master. Camp K9 is amazing. The staff is terrific. It is immaculate. Doggy Day Care and boarding perfect. And everything is on webcam. PS. That harness you see on Tugboat in the picture! Gone! Thanks! Went in for eval/tour only and will absolutely not be back. STAY AWAY! I would stay as far away from this place as possible!!! First of all VERY dirty and smelly OMG the smell when I first walked in was so terrible. Second, I am still in shock at the rudeness of the staff. Walked in and they immediately started bickering amongst each other about who was going to do the eval and going on about that for a few minutes, then decided to greet me with "oh you must be the eval?" As I'm filling out papers, my dog was sniffing through the gate at what I presume was a staff members' dog behind the front desk area, and the staff member rudely snapped at me and said to "watch him" pointing to my dog!! LOL I'm pretty sure I'm the customer but ok. Then when the dog handler came out to eval my dog -who was was very scared-she didn't even pet him or try to comfort him, AT ALL, she stared at my dog in disgust and had me put a slip collar on him for her to yank him back-I offered to help and she snapped "No, I know how to handle dogs!" When I was making sure all my paperwork was in order and that it had been returned to me, I was double checking it all and another staff member snapped again and said "it's right here!" About my papers. Besides the fact that my dog was terrified of this horrible place, the staff was absolutely horrendous!! Three to four different staff members at that!! Also never once greeted my dog to try and make him comfortable. Please keep your dogs out of here!!! It's hard to not be in disbelief still about my experience here, just wow. I considered discussing my issue later with the owner or manager but since three different staff members were involved, it would seem pointless since that must be the normal and acceptable behavior by staff members here. ***update-have received PMs from what appears to be two fake accounts of the facility telling me the people in the back that actually handle the dogs are nice-stay away from this shady place!!!*** read more

Sadly, we were basically asked to stop bringing our dogs because they didn't come everyday and therefore had difficulty at times with the "regulars." This was disappointing to us, of course, but more bothersome was the fact that this was done when we still had days left on prepaid packages. We've had better success with other daycare facilities, for sure. read more

We boarder our dog there for several days, it seamed like an ok place no major issues for her. But don't try to talk to staff or call in to check how things are going for your dog. They seem like your bothering them with short answers an a basic BS line. They have personality's like a half eater peanut butter sandwich . read more

I really would love to give this place 4-5 stars, mostly because it seems like a family run business and I'm all for small, family run/operated businesses. However, due to my experiences here over the last 2+ years, I can only give CampK9 1 star and honestly, I would probably give it 0 stars if it were possible. The staff here seem genuine and caring (although sometimes they can be rude) but their policies are so jacked up it's not even funny. Full disclosure: I've only brought my dog here around 10 times over the course of his 2-year-old life and he had passed their temperament evaluation when we first signed him up. We usually have coverage for our dog through in-laws, friends etc. Therefore, we only needed to rely on the Camp K9 Daycare when specific situations arise that require us to put him in daycare (No coverage or we would be gone for extended period time). Herein lies my first issue with Camp K9. This place seems to favor regulars (dogs who are there daily or weekly) over dogs who don't attend as often whether it's by allowing regular dogs to fill up the daycare first or just by the quality of interaction with the dogs. Secondly, every single time I tried to use these guys there always seems to have been an issue. When my dog was evaluated, he passed the evaluation at around 6 months of age. He was still very much a puppy and had very high energy but none-the-less a very friendly dog and loved to play with other dogs (which I soon realized was considered a bad thing at this day care). The second time we took our puppy to the daycare, they called me at 11:30am and told me I either had to pick him up or he would be quarantined for the rest of the day all because he was "too eager to meet friends." Mind you this is a dog who goes to the dog park every week and plays with other dogs (without any issue) and he was socialized very early on in his life. He also attended Good Citizen Training and two different training sessions at the Dog Training Center of Chester County. He even passed Camp K9's own evaluation. Then they told me that any time I wanted to bring him in, I had to call them before hand to make sure they would have the dogs outside. The only way he could come is if they were outside. Imagine how hard it is to plan to have coverage for your dog when you don't know if you can take him to daycare or not until that day when they make the decision. Around Christmas time two years ago we took him to get pictures with Santa there which they lost, and we never got them. The next time I took him there was an issue with his shots being expired. I don't put any blame on them for this, but I had brought the dog there unaware that the records they had expired, and I made it halfway to work and had to come back home to pick him up because he couldn't stay. I think he had a couple visits without an issue and then the last and final time I will ever try to use this place, there was yet another issue. I had called to see if their records were up to date with his current shots (which I learned to do since the previous problem mentioned earlier). She told me his shots were up to date but since he hasn't gone for two months he would need to do another temperament evaluation before he could come in again. And since I was inquiring about leaving him on a Saturday and they are short staffed on Saturdays, I would need to call ahead of time to see if he would be allowed to attend (even if he passes his second evaluation there). That was the last straw. I really wanted this place to work out because I live down the street. Now I must go way out of my way to the Family Pet Resort in Newtown Square to be able to have my dog attend daycare. They don't seem to have the same issues this place does. I know this because I used them before. I realize that many people have had great experiences at CampK9. This is just my own personal review based on my experience and does not take away from all the positive reviews this CampK9 receives. However, we will not be using or attempting to use this daycare again. read more

I tried to set up an evaluation of my dog. The are only done between 10:30-11:30 on weekdays. I am looking for care while I am at work... During normal business hours. When asked about weekend hours I was told it is at the trainer's discretion. Poor customer service in my opinion. read more

I took our dogs to Camp K9 for grooming and could not have been more disappointed. We have a Yorkie (Sophie), and a Maltipoo (Sammy). When we arrived, the groomer immediately rubbed Sammy obviously checking for mats, and before even saying hello, or asking the dogs names, she rudely snapped "this one has mats, he will have to be cut short". I said I like his hair on the short side anyway. He did have a few mats, but was not that bad, I made sure of it before bringing him in. Now Maltipoo's do get matted easily, and I try to keep up with it by brushing and clipping at home, but my previous groomer took the time to clip out the mats so that the cut was not too short, and Sammy still had some of his beautiful curls. This woman practically shaved the dog, and even did a poor job at that. I could have easily done a better job myself with a clipper. When she said short , I did not think she meant this extreme, or I would have walked right out of there. I sure wish I had. read more

Love this facility!! Its immediately apparent that the staff LOVE dogs of all breeds and truly enjoy working with animals. We received a great tour of the facility and our dogs were given a behavior/ personality test before being approved for boarding or daycare. We've had both our dogs groomed there and are very satisfied. Would recommend to anyone especially if you currently board at a veterinary clinic where your pet is only let out of their cage to go to the bathroom and is otherwise caged the entire time boarding. Your pet will love you for taking them to a doggie daycare to board instead! read more

Pros: They take wonderful care of our two dogs - and they always come back tired out which is great! We use Camp K9 for both daycare and boarding and the staff are always very nice. They offer packages for daycare which makes it a little cheaper per day. One dog can be a little bit of a problem child and Jason is always willing to talk through possible training techniques. Cons: Pricing is very inconsistent for boarding. We are charged a different amount every time we pick-up the dogs, even if the # of days / days of the week are the same. Camp K9 does post pictures of the dogs on Facebook, but there are definitely a few "favorites". We've left our dogs there for up to a week at a time and saw no pictures, which kind of stunk. Obviously, the most important thing about daycare/boarding for our dogs is quality of care, and they absolutely get this at Camp K9. The cons are more just annoyances from a customer perspective. read more

I wish I could love this place but I've had more than one issue in a matter of 3 months. I moved to the area and immediately looked at daycare for the pup in the area. After reading all the reviews, this place seemed like the best daycare in the area. I looked at the place prior to taking my dog there for the first day. The facility was clean and the yards out back are a good size. I was told during the tour that on the first day I brought my dog they would do an evaluations which was fine. The first time I took her though, the entire staff was very confused and disorganized when I showed up. I was told she should have had her evaluation prior to her first day, which contradicted what I was told on the tour. Since I needed to be at work, I had no choice but to leave her. They have the doggie camera app which I quickly downloaded only to see my dog in a room alone for multiple hours. It took me calling to have someone finally give her an evaluation so she could play with the other dogs. I'm not sure why it took so many hours before someone there could get to my dog. I brushed off the experience and took her back a few more times until the next incident. A few weeks ago when my dog was there, I noticed from the cameras that the dogs were all inside on a nice day. I assumed it was just warm and eventually they would go outside. The entire day however they were inside. The dogs were not let out for a bathroom break outside. My dog is trained to not go to the bathroom inside regardless of what the floors are made of. When I picked her up I asked and received attitude and a response that the fence was down and the dogs needed to be inside. I'm understanding of a fence needing to be fixed however the dogs could have been taken out on leashes. TThe dogs should have been taken out for bathroom breaks or they should have told us in the morning the dogs would not be outside that day. I would have made a decision not to leave her there that day and may still be taking her back. I do not have peace of mind leaving my dog there when I am at work. I wish I could find a reliable doggy daycare where I don't have to check up on my dog all day to ensure she is being cared for. read more

I'm so disappointed with Camp K9. After finding a much better facility, I've come to realize that the staff at Camp K9 does not take the time to care for and understand every dog that walks through their door. Whether or not your dog is social, timid, nervous, or has special needs for attention, they are all thrown together in one group and it just seems like there is too much going on for the staff to handle. It's upsetting to me that I could not trust that my dog was not being monitored properly while in the outdoor run (where there aren't any cameras, and where most of the dogs spend their time). Dogs are kept outdoors in inclement weather, something they don't tell you when you tour the facility. In my particular experience, the staff handled a situation very poorly when my dog was experiencing anxiety from a thunderstorm (because she was left outside in it) and it left a sour taste in my mouth so I pulled her from daycare. A coworker of mine also experienced something like this while boarding with Camp K9 when her dog had separation anxiety during her stay. The staff is not equipped to handle dogs that need special attention. I'm sorry to say my experience went so poorly and I sincerely hope no one has to feel the discomfort I have felt from my experience with Camp K9. read more

There is no other place I would take my dog! The staff is amazing and have been trained on how to be pack leaders. They never ever leave the dogs alone and love on them all day long. The dogs are treated with respect and love. They understand how dog behavior works and make sure your dog is healthy and happy while under their care. My dog always comes home better behaved and happier than before. I don't trust anyone else and drive an hour just to take him here. I recommend this place to anyone who really loves their dog! read more
