This low rating does not reflect the wonderful customer service and awesome grooming service experiences I've had at this establishment. The low rating is for the blatant disregard of public health and safety. Just weeks ago, the entire company was shut down due to a COVID outbreak among the staff. Before that happened, I noticed that very few (if any) employees were wearing masks. This concerned me because I'm sure they interact with dozens of customers a day. Also, it's been proven that domestic pets can be asymptomatic carriers of COVID. Today, when I arrived, there were at least 3 employees I spoke with who weren't wearing masks. One employee was coughing. I have lost several loved ones to this terrible virus. We're still in the midst of a global pandemic. Mask wearing should be enforced, especially by businesses who have already been negatively impacted by this disease that can still be fatal, despite the fact that many are vaccinated. After a couple of bad experiences at Pets Mart, I asked my veterinarian where I should be taking my dog. I wished I had asked him earlier! He said the ONLY place he recommends is Lucie's. I made an appointment, and he was so right! My dog was groomed beautifully. I couldn't believe the difference, and wished I had asked my vet a long time ago. In addition to the fantastic grooming, the staff were wonderful. Lucie came out to meet me when I picked up my dog. She wanted to introduce herself and make certain that I was happy. I defintely was! You can also get your doggy fresh and groomed before you pick the up from daycare/boarding. Today, my long haired dachshund Clydesdale had his first " spa" experience at Lucie's. Randi, his groomer, not only exceeded expectations, but also found Clyde's baby teeth behind his canines were causing him pain and need to be extracted! This is a huge deal. Our vet sees Clyde regularly, but has never, ever looked at his teeth like Randi did today! Clyde's grooming was perfect! We boarded our puppy Teddy with Lucie's twice this summer and are so happy with our experience. We had used another popular local facility last summer, and were frustrated with how difficult it was to talk to an actual person or get a call back when wanting to make a reservation. Decided to try Lucie's and I am so happy we did! The staff at Lucie's is extremely welcoming, attentive and responsive. They sent us photos and videos of Teddy while we were away. My 18 month-old lab mix and I are thrilled with Lucy's doggie daycare. Nick does a great job grouping the pups by size and play style, supervising staff, and creating a warm, welcoming, and safe environment. Everybody is friendly and accommodating. We used to take our dog there for doggie daycare when we needed to (2016-2017). We only used Lucie's for that & thought it was great. We boarded our dog there for 10 days in 2019 & when we picked him up he had an obvious cough. We took him to the vet & they said, "yep, kennel cough. Where has he been?" Only Lucie's for boarding (we had not needed doggie daycare in that time frame, he doesn't like the dog park, he never had a single symptom the 5 weeks since his last groom, which is done in a small facility & not kept there additional time after his groom is done). After leaving the vet I called Lucie's & requested that the owner call me back & told them that my dog contracted kennel cough while staying there. I was told "okay" by the person on the phone & when I asked if they were going to do anything about it she said "no". I still requested the owner to call me back. The owner did NOT call me back to address what had occurred. I was worried about the other dogs that might still be at their facility exhibiting symptoms & new dogs coming in. I was not asking for anything from them. That response of lack of care just rubbed me the wrong way & I knew that we wouldn't be returning. Fast forward a few years later (now 2022), I posted this review on another platform & got ATTACKED by Jeff Greco, the owner who didn't bother to address the phone call years ago but wanted to attack me for posting my review. Mind you, no one on that feed had suggested his facility as a good place to take a dog for doggie daycare. Only that it was a place to be avoided. I hope he doesn't verbally attack clients like this in person. If he had just ignored & allowed my honest review on a public platform or addressed my concern via PM, I wouldn't be writing this review today. I'm glad we never brought our dog back & I'm sorry for all the referrals we've had that I've heard other complaints about Lucie's terrible responses recently as well, but I'll allow those people to post the details themselves.​ read more

I took my blind, special needs dog to Lucie's for boarding. One of her medications ran out mid-stay (my fault). They called my vet, confirmed that it was in stock, then called me and asked if it was ok to retrieve the meds for me. I paid only for the meds, not for this amazing extra service. They took the very best care of my dog. When I called to check on her, the person at the front desk actually retrieved someone who was working in the kennel - that person talked to me about my dog's eating and sleeping habits and no one made me feel like I was being high maintenance (I definitely was). Lucie, her husband Jeff and the staff really care about the animals. I have been a long time customer and my dogs love the staff, they just like to visit to say hi. I know that I can leave my dogs in their care and that they will be safe. The nice thing about Lucie's is that you can drop your pet off at daycare anytime and they don't have a required amount of time that they have to stay, and great prices. I drop my dogs off, run an errand and then go pick them right back up. Also, your dog doesn't have to be crated while they wait to get groomed which is what attracted me to Lucie's in the first place. Another point to make about Lucie's is if your dog is in daycare and is a little lame in the hips or injured they will make sure that your pet doesn't play too much or too hard and keep them protected from further damage. I recommend Lucie's Barkingham Palace if you want your dog to feel safe, comfortable and like part of a family. read more

Lucie's does an amazing job with our dog, Lola. We board her here whenever we go on vacation. Lola was super timid and shy when we first rescued her, so we were really nervous to leave her anywhere overnight. Jill and Nick are who we tend to have the most contact with, and they are both extremely professional, friendly, and reassuring. They even sent us photos and videos of Lola while we were away for 10 days for our honeymoon. We are 100% those "crazy dog people" who treat their dog like their baby and we feel perfectly at ease leaving Lola at Lucie's. The staff are so accommodating and the facility itself is really clean and organized. We don't even live near Lucie's - we drive about an hour each way to board our dog here because we know she will be safe, comfortable, and well cared for. A five woof review. I like Lucie's because our dog gets to hang out "free range" style with other doggie guys before and after his grooming. He isn't just stuffed into a crate to wait his turn as dogs are dealt with at some franchised pet places. The groomers seem to really like their canine customers, in addition to doing a good job getting our pet clean and sweet smelling (or, at least until he rolls in something in the backyard at home). *update: Lucie's will be moving in the near future from its current convenient Devon location, farther out on Lancaster to Rte 29 in Paoli/Malvern out by the new Wegmans. Coming from out of town and considering her size and energy level, we weren't sure who we could trust with our large pampered pooch and after the experience she had we wouldn't take her anyplace else when we come to visit family again. Yes she is british like myself but my dog skye has the best playtime there away from home and is treated like one of the pack! Lucie's recently moved from Devon to it's new location in Malvern. After our first visit it is clear that Lucie's is experiencing growing pains, with the addition of "Barkingham Palace" and new services such as daycare, boarding and training. A big reason that we liked Lucie's was that they don't crate dogs that are social. The dogs used to meander about amongst the groomers. At the new location, we were told that we would now have to pay additional charges for daycare, if we wanted to avoid a crate. Not a welcome change. I hope the folks at Lucie's can iron out some of the kinks in the service and find a solution to using crates. Until then, 3 stars is all I can offer. Hopefully these issues will be addressed and Lucie's will go back to a max. star experience. read more

Our 4 month old, highly energetic puppy (Chopin) is like an entirely different dog after spending the weekend at Lucie's, in a great way!! We had to go out of the area for a wedding and we weren't sure what to do with our new puppy. Being a first time dog owner, I was hesitant about boarding him. However, seeing such great reviews and reasonable prices, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try this place out for 2 nights. I especially liked that socialization and romping with other dogs with a large component of the stay. I could tell I was leaving our pup in good hands right when I got there. I was immediately greeted by Lucie and her friendly staff. They allowed my pup to go into the grooming room to socialize with other puppies while I filled out paperwork. They also allowed me to tour the kennel area and see the play yard. It was a good sign to me that so many other dogs were there! Lucie asked specifics about our puppy's crate routine and assured me they would do their best to make the stay as comfortable as possible. We also requested to have him get his first puppy groom while he was there. When we came back on Sunday to pick him up, we were greeted by a freshly groomed and very tuckered out pup...which was a great sign! We knew he had a ton of puppy energy to get out, and Lucie's was the perfect answer for that!! Even the day after, he has been acting much more calm for us. We recently moved back to the area and started utilizing Lucie four day care. So far so good. They are open early at 7 AM and that's great as I often need to drop off my dog and then head into work. We've had our dog walker pick up our dog instead of us a few times without any hassle or confusion. Good sized play areas outside. The indoor area is just a big old room (wish they had maybe some toys or something else in there) but it's fine. Friendly staff. I would recommend. read more

Simba goes to daycare here and loves it. My dog is socialized and knows how to behave in groups. Something all dog owners need to do. The staff is friendly and my dog is Happy there. We went to another doggy day care for a year but the out door and in door space was limited. We like the space the dogs have to play in. Simba also gets groomed and bathed here. We love this place. Lucie's is amazing. These people honestly care about animals and understand the individual needs of each pet. They truly treat my dog like the precious child I think she is. My dog has separation anxiety problems and they didn't turn me away, they embrace that each dog is different and needs special attention. The prices are great here too, the best I've found in the area. I cannot stress how comfortable I feel leaving my dog in their care for daycare every day. All of the staff is friendly and personable. Lucie and her staff care about not only the dogs but making there "parents" feel good about leaving there dog there. We got our dog groomed there and they do not crate the dog as long as they behave. We called the day we wanted him groomed and they said no problem bring him in whenever and we'll fit him in we got there at noon Lucie took us on s tour of the entire facility and asked us what time we would like to pick him up, he was promptly done at the agreed upon time.
