They splash around in the waves with staff and the staff is wonderful. The highlight is when the ice cream truck comes by after lunch and everyone buys a treat. All treats are pre packed with easy to read ingredients, so very accessible for those kiddos with food allergies too. All the classics - big sticks, ice cream sandwiches, bomb pops, jaw breakers, snowcones, pickles, banana on a stick, cotton candy buckets, paletas, and more. It's also one of the few camps where you purchase by the day vs the week, so the flexibility is great. It's California. Going to beach camp is a rite of passage. So is the sand you bring home in your car too.

We live in San Francisco but would go down to LA every summer so my boys can attend Camp Awesome!…read moreThat's how much they love this camp. Since I don't attend the camp myself, I asked my 10-year old what he liked about it and he said: "the staff is really friendly because even if you make a mistake and do something wrong, they don't yell at you. They let us play in the sand, there are tons of games and activities (there's a game where they said a certain type of action and you have to do it or you lose; there's also a game where we pair up in teams and capture the flag), we go to the ocean two or three times a day to swim and play games there. They're really nice and there's ice cream truck every day and pizza on Friday." Speaking of the staff, they are truly one of the best (especially Jessica!!!) and so responsive! Truly one of the best camps around. (I wish they have them in the Bay Area). Highly recommend!

Amazing surf school. Both my daughters learned to surf in one three hour lesson. Bella became very…read morecomfortable and nearly independent after her second lesson. The staff is very friendly and spot on. I opted for the Will Roger's State Park location over the Venice Beach option and was very happy I did. In fact I recommend you try Will Roger's State Park.

We did a one day camp with Sunrise just to see if my son would like it. He is six, and I wasn't…read moreready to drop him off and leave him as he LOVES to run to the biggest wave. So I wanted to keep an extra set of eyes on him and ended up hanging around out of site so we wouldn't be distracted by me, but close by so I would feel comfortable knowing how he'd respond to the instructors. I think they were fine with me being even closer but I stayed a little further away so my child would really focus on them. Also, it was his first surf lesson so I didn't want to miss it! What I saw had me grinning the entire time. When my son wanted to push the limits and travel a little too far out where I was ready to run in after him, instructors were pulling the kids back. They had their eyes on him. And there was a dedicated staff member standing on the beach keeping their eyes on the entire group whenever they were in the water. And it was amazing to see my kid stand up on the board for the first time ever. And the way he jumped and kept going - it was clear he was SO happy the entire time. Not my kid, but there was clearly a little one who was not comfortable with the waves. I don't know the full story, but what I saw was an instructor holding that child the ENTIRE camp in the water. That kid got to be as close to the water as they were comfortable, the instructors never sat her aside to play in the sand, they were clearly trying to get her comfortable and making sure she had some water experience. Props to you all for investing in every child at every level. Props to the instructors, we hope to return if schedules allow this summer. The only request I have is to put kids in bright orange/yellow/green rash guards instead of the blue ones. It was easy to see the instructors in the orange, but I would feel better if we could REALLY see the kids from the sand in water safe colors. That's it - THANK YOU again for a great day. My son really loved it and was so proud of what he accomplished in that short time with you.

This gym is so self-important. We booked a trial class. When we arrived there, it took us nearly 20…read moremins to find a parking spot, because this gym is located in a very busy mall. Therefore we were a bit late for the class and we were told they have strict 10-min warm-up rule, which was never mentioned in our email communication. They refused us to join the class because we missed the warm-up, no matter how we tried to explain the situation, and only offered an option for rescheduling. Also, the gym is very small, the parking is so hard, not to mention homeless people hanging around the parking lot.

As a grandmother of a 2-year-old who has been attending Flip 1st Gymnastics for nearly three…read moremonths, I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. The studio is truly the best on the West Side--bright, clean, and thoughtfully set up for little ones to learn, move, and have fun. The staff is absolutely amazing. Every coach we've encountered has been warm, attentive, and fantastic with toddlers. The program itself is beautifully structured--each class offers something new, and in over three months, we haven't experienced a single repeated lesson. My grandchild is always excited to go, and it's been such a joy watching her development and growing confidence. A special thank you to Dan, the owner, whose kindness and compassion touched our family deeply. After losing our home in the Palisades fires, Dan made it possible for us to continue bringing our little one to gymnastics. His generosity during such a difficult time meant more than words can say. Flip 1st Gymnastics is more than a gym--it's a place that truly cares about children and families. We are so grateful to be part of this community. -- A very grateful grandmother
