Performing Arts Workshop has been a godsend to my family. My daughter hated every camp she tried until we found PAW. Signing my daughter up for summer camp used to be a battle. Now she has been enthusiastically attending the Chatsworth location four years. Camp is the highlight of her year. My daughter loves the curriculum and working with the specialists. She looks forward to playing theater games in the mornings and rehearsing the plays in the afternoons. She enjoys the friends she's made and has regular play dates with a couple of the girls in camp throughout the year. The staff is phenomenal. The teachers are highly qualified (overqualified!) and seem to have as much fun working at the camp as the kids have attending. There is clearly an energy of warmth and acceptance. Additionally, the plays are wonderful. Somehow they've've managed to write/find/abridge/adapt plays in a way that truly creates ensemble pieces. Every kid is able to participate fully in each play. The dialogue is funny. The songs are fun. And the dance is age-appropriate. Of course some roles are bigger than others, but all in all, they find a way to distribute the parts so that typically, each kid is challenged at their level (for surely a seven year old cannot memorize as many lines as a twelve year old.) and all the kids are busily engaged throughout the day. They teach the kids to love their parts no matter what the size of the part, because each part is integral to the play. They humorously remind the kids that they can't perform the show Wizard of Oz if everyone is playing Dorothy. They help kids navigate and accept even the disappointments. As a parent, I've delight in watching my daughter blossom and grow. At PAW she discovered her passion for acting. In the process of playing, my daughter has built social skills, memorization skills, reading skills, focus, and listening skills (for so much of improvisation is about listening to other actors and responding to them.) And it never feels like school to her! But that's not why she attends each summer. She goes to PAW because she loves being there, hanging out with friends, putting on shows, singing, and playing acting games. She returns to school feeling refreshed, stronger, more confident, and happier. She has so much fun at camp and learns so many skills there. What more could a parent want? read more

Based on our past experiences the programs are fabulous and my daughter loved it. Programs such as this are essential for today's youth development. It is awesome that this organization provides scholarship programs to those in need. Unfortunately, they are completely inflexible when dealing with those paying the full tuition rate. Once they have your registration funds they stop caring. We were excited to find this option including extended day care allowing us to work the full day (as required by employers) during the schools summer break. Unfortunately, less than 24 hours after registering, I had an adjustment in my work schedule that meant this camp will not work for us due to scheduling and logistics. When requesting to cancel/refund, less than 24 hours after registering, I was told there was absolutely no refunds for any or all of the tuition. They proudly noted that the funds had already been pulled from our account and would NOT be returned. I inquired....Perhaps this could be transferred for use at a spring break or winter camp? No! Perhaps a future after school program? No! Perhaps they could refund the extended care and t-shirt cost? No! I shared that we need these funds for childcare/camp that better coincides with our work schedule. No! For an organization claiming to care enough about humans and the financial affairs of attendees to offer scholarships they have no concern for those who encounter issues after they have received their registration dollars. Not once did they ask why I might be cancelling the registration. Even more disturbing was the level of sarcasm and indifference from staff, including management, when discussing the matter on the phone. Customer service is absolutely incredible in the most terrible way. Never, ever, will I do business with this organization again.Shall we have the opportunity in the future there are many other organizations offering similar programs that we will reach out to. read more

Performing Arts Workshops PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP (for ages 8-14) teaches kids the art of digital photography from behind the lens to in front of the computer. Campers learn everything from Camera Settings and Special Effects, to Visual Composition including: Still Life, Landscapes, Headshots and Portraits, as well as how to take Advertising Photos. In the afternoons, following lunch and free play...the kids will work in front of the computer, and learn how to digitally master their photos. Each day the campers will need to bring their own digital camera to shoot with, as well as a flash drive to load their daily edited photos onto, in order to print at home. PAW's teachers do supply a computer for the campers to work on. However, many kids do like to bring their own laptops as well. At the end of each session, not only will the kids get to take home a portfolio of their favorite selected prints, but even set up a photo exhibition for their parents to come enjoy! Performing Arts Workshops STAGE FX MAKEUP is the perfect camp for kids who want to learn about makeup and the art behind the craft. The curriculum is totally hands on! Some of the styles the kids will learn are Theatrical & Movie Makeup, Commercial & Glamour, Character & Aging, Fashion, Dia De Los Muertos, and Special Effects Makeup like Creatures, Scars and Zombies. Last year when I asked my 8 year old son if he wanted to join his friend at PAW , he said NO!!! He didn't want to have anything to do with Snow White!! He decided to give it a try if I promised that he wouldn't be Snow White :) I have to say that the PAW summer camp turned out to be the most amazing experience for him. He made amazing friends that he kept in touch with! He loved his teachers, especially Miss Jessica! Every day he would ask me to take him there at 7 AM and pick him up after 3. The final play was simply wonderful. I just couldn't believe how the teachers were able to bring out the best in the kids. The staff was extra friendly and accommodating. At the end, my son asked me if he could go to the Performing Arts school instead of his regular school. We are doing at least 2 sessions this Summer and we are SO excited! read more

As a proud parent, I cannot speak highly enough about the PAWs Speech and Debate summer camp. My 11-year-old daughter had an absolutely amazing experience. The instructors were not only knowledgeable and passionate about speech and debate, but they were also incredibly supportive and encouraging. They created a positive and inclusive environment where my daughter felt empowered to express her thoughts and ideas. My kids aren't in the program yet but we are excited about signing them up. They have programs ranging from musical theatre to stage FX makeup. It's a 2 week program and then they can do showcase at the end of camp. The staff have been very pleasant to work with in answering all our questions about the camp. There is an option to become a PAW ambassador that gives you 50% off as many sessions of summer camp as you would want as a service-in-exchange for tuition program.
