Last year I paid handsomely for a Belgian Malinois female. She had a lot of medical issues not described in her veterinary record. She was in terrible pain when I i got her to our vet. Who was surprised to hear the dog was fed an all meat diet despite heR issues. The dog itself has high separation anxiety. Perry says to be fair to the dog but he is anything near it. He asked to take the dog back and give mE a new one; as if the damage to my dogs health esteem was ok. Anyway, don't fly to Canada. Don't wire Perry money. don't sign any shady contracts (he gives you a bad dog and then says you have 3 month to PROVE you need another). Don't even hear him out. A guy who treats dogs this bad isn't to be trusted.

I had previously tried Board and Train programs at Sit Means Sit twice, but they didn't help with KB's anxiety at all. Tony was a completely different experience. What sets Tony apart is how thorough he is. He didn't just give commands; he constantly explained the "why" behind KB's behaviors. He was also incredibly supportive of me, helping me work through my own fears and nervousness. Because of his guidance, I can now actually play box with KB without the fear that he'll suddenly react toward me. We covered so much ground, including: * Command & Muzzle Work: Building a foundation of safety and communication. * Boundaries: KB used to be glued to my side whenever I answered the door. Now, he can stay calmly on the couch while I greet someone, and he stays indoors even when I go through the patio door. * Safety & Care: Tony was always so accommodating with scheduling. If it was too hot for an outdoor session, he would proactively suggest changing it for KB's safety. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed with your dog's behavior, go to Tony. He turned everything around for us, and I'm so grateful for the confidence he's given both me and KB.

Now that I have more time I wanted to finish Bella's training. I reached out to bark busters because Bella had a lot of anxiety and would have non stop barking issues. We have a new baby in the house so all the barking was no fun! I'm telling you, no joke after the first visit with our trainer Justine, I felt as if Bella was a whole new dog! She gives such great advice on how to properly train your dog without food incentives and shock collars! I was so amazed that I started telling a lot of my friends about it! I just finished my second session with Justine today and she was giving me tips and tricks on how to walk Bella without her pulling. By the end of the session I was walking Bella and Bella wasn't walking me! Justine truly cares for me and Bella and is very thoughtful on modifying things that help me the best! It's definitely worth the investment. I couldn't be any more happy and I would definitely recommend Bark Busters, especially with Justine, to everyone and anyone! Enjoy a picture of Bella after our training session today!

We rescued an…read moreAmerican Pit Bull Terrier mix from our local animal shelter during Covid, and immediately fell in love with her. Since then, we have done our best to train her (even hired a dog training company) and while she's been amazing to us, there have been some incidents. We tried to correct her behavior but we had to go beyond just correcting a behavior, we had to know the why. We needed a dog behaviorist. Enter Bark Busters and Justine! From the very first phone conversation with Justine, she told us about a dog's personality (the who) vs. a dog's behavior (the why). Was our dog just naturally an aggressive dog or was our dog showing aggression due to past trauma. After the initial phone call then came the in person assessment in our home, Justine knew our dog's personality was sweet and loving to us; however, due to her being a rescue, her past experiences led to trauma that led to aggressive behaviors towards others in certain situations. Moreover, during that first assessment, she educated us things we had no idea about or thought about with dogs as pets plus what we need to be and do as owners. Justine was and is exactly what we were looking for in understanding our dog and from there building the right relationship with our dog that will keep her and others safe. The business model and curriculum that Bark Busters and Justine have put in place is one of a kind and works from day 1. We have always wanted what is best for our dog and to give her the best life possible, especially because she is a rescue and her breed. Bark Busters and Justine continues to give us the tools in place to build the confidence and trust we have as owners in our dog and our dog has in us as owners. We are forever grateful to Justine and will recommend her and Bark Busters to anyone!

Emily is equally wonderful--warm, compassionate, and supportive throughout the entire process. They both clearly love what they do, and it shows in every interaction. When I started, my almost 3-year-old pug mix, Fifi, struggled with barking, reactivity, separation anxiety, and had no reliable recall or response to commands. I was feeling overwhelmed, and even being at home had become stressful. While the training journey had its challenges, especially as a first-time dog owner with no prior experience, Chloe and Emily were there to guide and support me every step of the way. Their patience and encouragement gave me the confidence to keep learning alongside Fifi. The one-on-one sessions each week were invaluable, giving me the opportunity to receive real-time feedback in a supportive, judgment-free environment. The improvement in Fifi has been amazing. She's so much calmer, listens to commands, and we can finally take her out without worrying she'll bark at every person we pass. We actually enjoy our walks now, and even life at home is so much more relaxed. I can't thank Chloe and Emily enough for giving me the tools and confidence to help Fifi thrive. Rooted Dog Training exceeded our expectations.

What I appreciate most is that Ian takes the time to listen to your specific concerns and goals for your dog, then tailors the training to focus on those needs. Ian has also taught Drako commands that have made a huge difference. I'm now able to walk Drako much more calmly using those same commands. It takes me a little longer to master them than it does Ian, but the foundation is there, and it's made walking Drako so much easier and more enjoyable. Ian is patient, genuinely loves dogs, and has a fun, playful approach that makes training enjoyable. His knowledge and ability to connect with dogs is truly impressive. Deku has been through a previous board and train, but I feel like that board and train mainly tackled his obedience, not his behavior issues. I let Ian know about all of this prior to boarding Deku and he made sure to explain his process with me. He also made me write down goals for Deku so that he can focus on them and make sure he tackled through them. I boarded Deku with Ian for 3 weeks and Ian made sure to send over progress pictures/videos every single day! I appreciated the content of Deku because that is basically my baby lol. There was a mid session where Ian taught me how to properly use the ecollar and showcasing what Deku has been up to the time he was with Ian. Deku was pretty much a different dog by the mid session, so it excited me to have him back after the 3rd week. The day I got Deku back, Ian showed me all of the progress and work Deku did and he was completely different. Deku stopped reacting towards people/other dogs and he was very obedient with following all commands! It's been almost a week now and Ian has checked in on Deku while he's been at home for the week and I also have follow-up sessions included in my service! I have been so happy with Deku is at! Before, I would be too scared to bring Deku out in public due to his reactivity/behavior, but I truly believe he is a completely different dog now, for the better! Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Ian to EVERYONE. He is the real deal. I do feel like Ian knows how to connect with these dogs and emphasizes about how important relationships + communicating with your dog. Ian id the BEST!
