Really interesting campground. It's very small, maybe like 30 campsites at most. But it's literally a few hundred feet from the lake and right along the Lakeshore trail. If you're looking for more nature and traditional camping in the woods, this is not it. But if you just like being outdoors and next to all the restaurants and amenities of Tahoe City then it's awesome. Was great to be able to wake up, walk along the shore trail to enjoy the views and let the dog sniff around. read more

Nice campsite. A paved walking path leads to the lake, with beautiful views. The campsite is woodsy enough to feel like you're camping, but close enough to the town to enjoy local sites and eateries. (A coffee shop [Coffee Connexion] is just up the way, an easy walk in the morning.) That said, the site is very close to the road, so it's noisy, even at night. Earplugs recommended for a good night's sleep. The road quiets down considerably in the middle of the night, but that doesn't mean the occasional cargo truck won't come roaring by. The facilities are good, with restrooms and showers conveniently located. The men's restroom ran out of paper towels by Sunday evening, but was restocked by Monday afternoon. The showers cost quarters: minimum 50 cents for 5 min (although I times it twice, and it goes closer to 6 or 6 1/2 minutes). There are no lights at the site, except for at the restroom, so have flashlights or headlamps. There are bear boxes to stow food and smellies overnight and while you're away (bring a lock for when you're away). You can't wash dishes at the site spigots or the bathroom, so have an alternate dishwashing plan. The spigot provide good drinking water. Overall, nice campsite. I'd be willing to return. read more

We stayed here for a 4 day camping trip and it was a great location. The campgrounds is right next to a little town, which when I first saw, made me a little bummed. I wanted a real camping trip. However being my first trip I shortly realized that I actually really liked that fact. We were able to pick up the things we didn't bring and it was so great. It's not a very busy town so I still felt like we were camping in the woods. The campgrounds themselves are great. We stayed at site 19 and it was facing the parking lot and like I said I was initially upset but honestly I loved the spot. It has a water spout right next to it, a short walk to the pier and if you're paddlboarding a short walk to get into the water. (Just know that you'll be walking on a short rocky path so sturdy sandals or water shoes will be helpful) It's also close to a coffee shop and I spent almost every day waking up for sunset and then getting a coffee right after. Such a peaceful experience. The check in process is very easy. The majority of the campsites had pros to their location and the area is so beautiful that if you don't like your spot, you'll be too busy with activities to care. The restrooms are clean and always stocked. They have showers that cost $1 for 10 minutes or 50¢ for 5 mins. The campsites have a fire pit to make your s'mores as well as grills to make food. They have food lockers and some have locking capabilities so bring a lock just in case. They also offer 10$ bundles of firewood. Some spots don't have too much shade and some have no shade over the picnic benches so having a canopy was so helpful especially since the sun can be very strong. Great way to stay in pricey Tahoe City for cheap! The campground is adjacent to the town (a Safeway, CVS) and a few steps to a walking path along the lake. It's nice to be able to go out downtown and walk home to your campsite. The only walk-able beach isn't dog-friendly and will likely be always pretty crowded. We biked to a nearby dog-friendly beach when we stayed here, so I'd definitely recommend bringing bikes. There are endless biking and hiking trails around the area. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're not a *huge* camper, but want to try it out because there are great amenities (walking distance to town / restaurants, hot showers, flushable toilets, and running water). My biggest gripes about this campground were the pollen (uncontrollable) and the road noise. There are some sites where you're seemingly camping on the road, so watchout. read more

I enjoyed this campsite. It was really really close to safeway, so if you run out of firewood, food or supplies- have no fear Safeway is close by. There are several stores and restaurants close by as well, and a coffee shop within the same complex as CVS and Safeway. The ambiance is great, the lake is right there and you can swim, fish or ride a boat. We ended up accidentally booking the designated disabled access, and I called to cancel. Since I was honest, we were allowed to use the space. The campsite is pretty small and close to other campsite, so you can really see your neighbors and the activities that they are busy with or not. We enjoyed our bon fire at night and mornings. The bathrooms are clean, with showers that you pay $25 cents for a few minutes of shower, so make sure you have quarters. Bear lockers are available. This is a definite campsite that we will reserve in again. Also- we have signal for our cell phones, so my kids and my 66+ year old mom were happy that they can still connect to social media. read more

My husband and I wanted to extend our annual Tahoe camping trip with our friends by one night. My friend Keith had booked a couple of campsites for our group of 10 at William Kent Campground for the weekend, but I couldn't find an available campsite there for Thursday night. I looked at Reserve California and was in luck! I was able to reserve site #10 at Tahoe SRA for Thursday. First, what to expect--this is in a busy business area in Tahoe City. CVS, Safeway, and Taco Bell are next door. Weird to be camping so close to stores like that. It is next to a major thoroughfare, so you will hear cars, so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Campsites are very small, so maybe no more than 2 small tents per site. Some sites have more shade than others. Site #10 and its adjacent sites have good shade for a good part of the day. Sites #15 and #16 have good views of the lake, but are mostly in the sun. The campground is lakefront, but the beach is super tiny. There is a pier for your pleasure, and campers use it as a jumping off point for swimming. You can take a picnic blanket and park yourself on the pier for a while, and swim, eat and relax. Given all that, it's not a bad place to camp, especially if you're unable to secure a site at premium locations/state parks such as DL Bliss, Emerald Bay SP, and Sugar Pine Point SP. You are lakefront, and you can walk down 5 minutes to Commons Beach and rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Stargazing at night is pretty incredible on the pier too. You'll see the Milky Way, constellations and shooting stars! The bathrooms have showers (5 minutes per quarter) and hand soap (such a luxury). It was also pretty quiet at night. I will definitely keep this place in mind next time the hubby and I plan our annual Tahoe camping trip! read more

Camping right next to the lake. Some of the campsites are on Hwy 28 which is pretty busy. Personally I would not camp in any of those sites. But the ones near the lake are excellent. It is right next to the walking/biking path. A one minute or less walk to the lake. Right next to town. You can walk to Safeway in about three minutes. Many restaurants are about a five minute walk on the path. I also like how this campground has showers. read more

This place was so perfect! Captain Kirk is a gem! We love him he was so personable and helpful. The campsite is right on the water and right next to town. I've never camped like that before and we were spoiled , we loved it. We would go pick up so coffee in the morning and breakfast and go along our day. If we needed any last minute items cvs and Safeway are right next door. The site only has like 25 spots so it books up fast. The showers were hot and great water pressure. Loved it!! What more can be said about a campground that is located next door to McDonald's and Safeway? Does this even count as camping? Would I ever personally camp here? No. Plus, this campground is right next to the pedestrian/bike path which adjoins Hwy 89, not very scenic or private if you ask me. It's basically like camping in a parking lot. This Campground is fun, but it is glamping which is glamorized camping. It's clean and close to the Lake and restaurants. Lots of family activities to do like biking, boating, kayaking, and hiking. Most of the campsite's offers beautiful views of the lake and you are a 5 minutes walk on a paved walkway down to the lake. Alot of families were biking and walking the paved bike trails. The beautiful truckee river and lake tahoe. No poison oak. Lots of good restaurants if you want to go out to eat. Recommend the Front Street Station for tacos and pizza, and Poppy's for good quality ice cream. Safeway and CVS are right next door if you forget anything. Only drawback is it is close to Hwy 28. But all in all, its a nice place for glamping. I will be back. read more

Just did an overnighter at this campground. It's urban camping! It's close to everything. Walking distance to Safeway, restaurants and the pier. The campsites are pretty close to each other. It was also kinda noisy at night d/t the hwy being so close and sirens going off at night. At one point, I felt like I was camping at a rest stop. But some of my family liked that it was close to the grocery store and that the campsite was like "apartment style" b/c they were so close to each other. Overall not bad... Just know that it's not very private. read more
