Weather report in Lakehead at Camp Shasta
    Jill G.

Camp Shasta is always a must-stop when we're in Lakehead. The breakfast is consistently delicious the cinnamon roll French toast is indulgent and comforting, the pancakes are fluffy and satisfying, and the vegetable omelette is full of fresh, flavorful veggies. The eggs are always fresh and cooked perfectly. Today we were greeted by such a warm, welcoming staff, which made the experience even better. Our family has been coming here for years whenever we're in Lakehead, and Camp Shasta continues to feel like a hometown favorite we can count on every time.

Looking for a great breakfast or burger? This is the spot, located on I-5 in Lakehead, exit 702. Great breakfast specials and tri-tip is house-smoked out back. Generous portions, beer and wine also available. Locally owned and run, Tracy is very accommodating, even serving breakfast until closing. You can't beat the hand patted burger and handcut fries. Opens early at 7:00 am for morning commuters headed to Redding. Takes last order at 2:00! (Closed Tues & Weds)

Lakehead has a new restaurant, located in the old Camp Shasta space. New owners serving tender, delicious smoked Tri-Tip. The hand-patted cheeseburger sits on a bun sturdy enough to hold all the delicious beef and cheesy goodness. Love avocado toast? They have it! Macaroni salad is one of my favorite side dishes. Chicken fried steak is house made fresh daily.

The place specialized in their really delicious, freshly squeezed orange juice. The restaurant has a distinct orange colored theme to it and seems like it's well loved in the area. The service here felt a little rushed and not always super helpful. I had some questions about the menu, but the server seemed a bit impatient like she had other things to do. I didn't appreciate this, but sometimes people have harder days than others. The food here was really good! I had the Arizona Enchilada Omelette, which had carnitas smothered with tomatillo sauce. The carnitas were really tender and super flavorful in that sauce. The Orange juice was so good and so refreshing. Perfect for the 107 degree day outside. I would come here just for that orange juice. I also want to mention how much I like that you can get a pancake here instead of toast. The pancake was. Like having dessert after the entree. So glad I stopped here for breakfast, but I do wish the service could've been nicer.

Located in the Placer Heights Plaza, next to Starbucks. Same plaza as Holiday Market and CVS Pharmacy. We were seated immediately as they were not busy. The menu was a bit different than online. Our server came to take our order. He didn't introduce himself and seemed like he didn't want to be there. We decided on the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken sandwich and catfish po' boy. When the po' boy came out, we thought it was burnt! We didn't know the catfish will be blackened by default. We thought it will be fried since it is a po' boy. The options can be blackened or fried based on the menu online. We were not given those options by our server. They brought out the food but didnt provide utensils until minutes later. Fried green tomatoes: It was good. Fried perfectly. The dressing that was tossed with the side salad was super salty. Catfish po' boy: Fish was tender but super salty as well. Fried chicken sandwich: Pretty good sandwich. Chicken was huge. The fries was so soggy, not crispy at all. Also very greasy. We were a bit disappointed as we drove out of our way to try this place. Nice ambiance though. I felt I was a bit underdressed lol

I ordered the breakfast burrito and my partner had some pancakes. The burrito was decently sized tasted fresh and was nice and filling, no complaints there. The pancakes were really good and fluffy. Staff was friendly whipped up some spicy salsa for me since my breakfast burrito needed a little kick and was very attentive. There's a good amount of seating for the size of the place and they had a small bar area which I thought was a nice touch. Solid little spot of people to stop by and grab a bite to eat.
