I've sat on giving this review for some time now. I don't like giving negative reviews and want to make sure I give accurate feedback. Let's start with In store ordering is the only way to order from them. The food is really really good, fresh, fairly quick and moderately priced. It's worth the cost for what you get. Ordering Togo can have mistakes and ordering for delivery, well continue reading. Now.... I Would not recommend ordering from their 'From the Hearth' app. When you download it and order from it it seems as though it's an app they monitor and delivery would be private. It's DoorDash that the 'ordering/payment/delivery it actually goes through. Here's where it gets frustrating. On DoorDash app when an order is incorrect you can file a claim and get a refund. You cannot do that with this app, nor is there anyone to help you through From the Hearth side and it's missing the DoorDash side. I've done several home deliveries through the app and mostly items were correct, a few times fries or sauces, added ingredient's to a dish we're missing and we'd than have to go to the store to get them, which is manageable but the experience I'd like to really share is: I made a $175 order to feed my family and friends that were in town. It took over 2.5hrs to finally get delivered to us, it even got delivered to the wrong house and when trying to get it figured out through From the Hearth staff they treated me as if I was lying and would not remake the food nor refund me. The food was literally "missing" and I was told I had to go through the subsidiary (DoorDash) that's when I learned it was not their app and they had no responsibility once it left their store. But really for me, It was the way the From the Hearth staff responded to the incident that truly baffles me and makes me not eat there anymore. I use to frequent the business several times a month, this was extremely rude and made me very disappointed. I would NOT recommend them based on their customer service by this experience. read more

I've ordered dozens of meals(mostly to go)from the hearth from the market street location. Overall my orders are prepared consistently the same as always although I've had issues with this restaurant before but that's how it goes. I've complained a couple of times just to let the restaurant know of the problems but nothing ever really came of my complaints good or bad so for the most part I keep any complaints to myself. However sometimes it's hard to stay quiet like tonight; I ordered a bowl of chicken pot pie which I've ordered many times&I have always gotten two meals out of it but tonight I'm pretty sure I was sent home with a cup instead of a bowl tho I was charged for a bowl. It would be considered a small cup at that plus the bread was omitted from my order. I better check out the order before leaving the restaurant from now on. I hope it was a mistake and this isn't considered a bowl now. read more

I am an avid supporter of FTH and generally have no complaints with regard to the service and food they produce. I'm trying to understand why the quality of food from this location is subpar. I've ordered from this location multiple times and each time it's just disappointment after disappointment. I either have items missing or the food just is not as consistent like their other locations. This is my third chance at hoping they would figure it out or maybe I was just having an off day, however I will not be returning to this location which is disappointing because I am right down the road. especially with prices going up you would hope that the quality would as well. Left my dog outside while I was picking up a to go order. He snuck in while other customers were entering, the cook came out from the kitchen and freaked out on me. I told him we were leaving, but he continued to be hostile. He was mad that my dog was not on a leash. I'm pretty sure he's the one that needed to be on a leash. Cute modern diner with healthy fusion cuisine. Ambiance: The decor is inviting and the space is clean. The inside is not huge, but there was sufficient seating even during peak breakfast hours. The only thing that could be optimized was the flow of traffic. The order counter/line is sandwiched between the entrance and the coffee pickup counter. It gets chaotic quickly once there's a crowd. Food: Everything we had was delicious, especially the Al Fresco bowl. Between the different waffles, the lemon ricotta is the winner. However, we were disappointed that there wasn't anything in stock in the pastry case on a Sunday morning. Service: There was only one barista and she worked impressively fast given how busy it was. Had to rush out the door this morning, so I picked up breakfast from here. Tried a new item, Avocado Toast! I've had it at home many times, but this one was extremely fancy! Hearty-grain, thick bread with avocado and hard boiled egg, topped with cojita cheese, pickled red onion, and micro greens. Super yummy! I think the consistency of the micro greens threw me off a little bit personally, but I felt so good eating it knowing it was good for my body and super fresh. 2.5 is what we're settling on. We have been here before as well as a couple other locations and it's become time to end our relationship with them. This location specifically has gotten mediocre, food-wise, whereas it used to be the best quality of the three locations we visited. Randy ordered the monte cristo this morning. It's supposed to come on sourdough - it did not. It was supposed to have syrup - it did not. He said the meat was deli meat warmed on the griddle and it was jumbled, not layered, and just meh. My brioche sandwich was good but it's gotten ridiculous that we always have to ask for the potatoes that come with the food to be hot instead of lukewarm. And then there are the flies. Went in last night for a to-go Cobb and TAB. So disappointing. They were clearly more interested in going home then the final hour of being open. The Cobb salad had exactly two tablespoons of chicken, and didn't even fill up 2/3's of the to-go box. The TAB literally had more red onion on half of the sandwich than turkey. One whole slice of turkey for the entire thing...man, don't go all out here. Not the $30 worth of food that we should have received...will certainly opt for a better establishment in the future. I had placed my trust in Sylvee when she assured me that Mr. Watson would reach out to me personally to discuss an issue involving Austin at the Churn Creek location. I believe Mr. Watson is the owner, and I was hopeful this would be handled with the attention and professionalism it deserves. Unfortunately, I never received a call. It's clear now that this matter has been dismissed or overlooked, and frankly, it's disappointing. I just contacted the College View location to follow up and order because they are now available on door dash for my neighborhood next to Riverview, Sylvee wasn't in, there was no manager present, and the person I spoke with was a rude young lady and abruptly hung up the phone. That is neither professional nor acceptable. I don't make complaints lightly. I have over 8 million views on Google Maps and am the only level 8 Google guide in Redding for a reason, I speak up when something matters, and people listen. I'm still open to resolving this directly and professionally, but silence and disregard are not the answer. read more

This morning I stopped by the Market St location for a Bear Claw. When ai arrived the cashier was outside washing windows. I waited several minutes while she casually finished the window washing. Once she came in and I placed my order for a warmed up Bear Claw she proceeded to gather my food WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS. I politely said "I don't mean to be a bother but I would prefer you wash your hands before touching my food". She said sure then went onto help the next customer before finishing my order. I felt punished for requesting that she follow the FOOD SAFE HANDLING LAWS. This will be my LAST visit to this location. It rates 6 stars for gas station restaurants but none the less, it's a order at the counter restaurant. Ordered a burger which was huge. Lost me on the bread which was slightly stale. It's now supposed to be stale at a bakery. It's supposed to be the opposite Now to the pie, it was like a supermarket pie. Again, i expect better in a bakery. This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in Redding (been to all of their locations ). They have kind of an Asheville vibe (iykyk), very local feel, delicious food, cute atmosphere. I love all of their many different options, I can always find something amazing here to try. They have great bowls, wraps, salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. and if you like garlic fries - GET THEM! Great food and ambience! This looks like a tiny cafe at a gas station, but I was surprised at how amazing the inside is! The food, service and ambiance all get 10/10 points from me! My husband and I stopped by for breakfast over Memorial Day weekend. The cafe is entirely self service. They give you a remote buzzer thing which rings when your order is ready and you can walk up to the counter to pick it up. They have good indoor seating, as well as an intimate outdoor space with privacy from the Main Street (since it is at the back of the restaurant). It has a nice painted wall, with comfy wooden furniture and comfy umbrellas. We ordered the Lemon Ricotta waffle which was AH-MAZING! The avocado toast was good, and we substituted the hard boiled egg for Roasted potatoes. The toast as such was okay-ish but those potatoes with a subtle hint of lemon zest and spices were outstanding! We also got the Zucchini Bundt cake to-go and it was very spongy and the perfect amount of sweet. If you're a coffee lover, you will like their lattes. It was a little too strong for my taste, but I enjoyed it nonetheless! P.S: when I visited, they had free iced tea in a dispenser at the order counter! This little spot is a true hidden gem. We were headed back from Fall River Mills and saw this place as a nice lunch spot before heading onto I-5 back to Marin County. When I got there I thought, "Oh no! It's a gas station!" But the menu looked awesome!!!! I went in and saw a ton of young people enjoying themselves and thought it might be good so I went for it. The Kalua pork was tender and the bread perfect. The sauce and side made this a huge, delicious sandwich! Needless to say, the Reuben was ginormous and the rye bread perfect!
