Another beautiful and tasty meal from El Zarape. The family greets you as you come in! Today we had Camerones rancheros & 2 chicken enchiladas. Some spice but not overwhelming, nicely Roasted/ caramelized veggies, fresh lettuce & tomato. Guacamole (small- 2oz pictured) was good, my compadre thought it was a little watery but I didn't notice. I am waiting for my car to be worked on a couple doors down (Quality Auto Repairs). I decided to have something to eat so I came into to El Zarape - I've never been here before but I'll certainly be coming back. The service was prompt and courteous, the restaurant is clean and the decor simple, typical Mexican Ranchera music playing. They do a good business so they must be good - lots of people coming and going. I got a Carnitas Burrito. It is HUGE, this cook gives generous portions. The food is MUY DELICIOSO. Amazing. I ce here for breakfast while getting my car worked on. Super kind staff, delicious huevos rancheros, and I even got a tall black coffee. I have to say, the patience and grace the owners deal with customers, no matter what the customers attitude is, is outstanding. Dope breakfast with machaca, don't see that on the menu very often. Prices are average, $13 burrito. I like everything about this place except the horchata, it's from a machine instead of homemade. I have a strong opinion that agua fresca should be served with a big scoop from big buckets so you know it's made from scratch. Okay, this place is a Taqueria- but where we come from the taquerias are the outstanding Mexican food over the restaurants. We've never had a chicken taco salad with ground chicken. Seriously? That was my husband's dinner. I had the Vegetable taco salad and it tasted like bagged lettuce and tomatoes. The guacamole was nondescript, to say the least. The delivered salads look nothing like the photos on their website. Don't bother with the chips and salsa. The chips taste like last year's leftovers. Basic taqueria with good food. Not a large menu, but attracted me with a list of several shrimp dishes. Mine was tasty with well-cooked shrimp and lots of onion, plus rice and beans, and some really fresh hot tortillas. My companion's quesadilla was thick and good. Friendly ordering at the counter, and they will bring your food to your table, even if you eat outside, which is pleasant and shaded on a warm day.
