**This review is for the SUMMER CAMP only *** This is the second year my boys have attended the Summer Day Camp. They are both very active and LOVE coming each day. They keep them busy and OUTSIDE!! The camp is really well ran and the communication is spot on. The camp directors and staff remember my kids from last year to this year and are really caring. They take trips during the week and even swim in the indoor pool. I know my kids are safe and having fun while both my husband and I work. Nothing fancy about this gym, but that's not what you're after when you come here! I had a membership at Lifetime, but super gyms aren't really my style; I'm self conscious and not a huge work-outer (yea, I just made up that word), so the laid back and family friendly vibe here is more my scene. This Y has just enough variety in machines, an indoor track, pool, and enclosed basketball space--all the things I think of when I think of working out. This YMCA offers so much for families and individuals. There is an indoor track, plenty of weightlifting and cardio machines, and an indoor lap pool. You can workout on your own or in the classes, and put your children in the onsite daycare; or you take the kids to play on the courts or swim! All the fitness classes are included with the membership, even water classes, and the childcare is free. The other members are so nice and welcoming to new people. It's a friendly place full of people of all ages and fitness levels. The preschool is top notch, full of loving teachers that are really experienced. The kids have a fun-filled day, do lots of art, get plenty of exercise, and learn so much. They offer several schedules you can pick from, like MWF, T/TH, full or half day. The preschool staff uses an app where they upload a ton of pictures and keep everyone up to speed real-time. The program directors are heavily involved and always available to answer questions. It is one of the lowest priced preschools in the area, but definitely one of the best program out there. (It's even cheaper if you're a member!) read more

Our family is a member of the YMCA and both my girls attended the Create and Play Preschool as well as the After School Program and Days Off School Program. The staff at the YMCA is helpful and always friendly. The recent updates to the interior have really brightened things up! We can't say enough great things about the preschool and the staff. Both my girls loved the teachers and learned so much. Going into kindergarten, my girls were well prepared for both the learning and social aspects of school. read more

Really upset in how they select and remove machines. Recently they took away the oLd machines as well as two new leg machines (squat rack and leg press). Both were natural weight. New machines feel very awkward and unnatural. Disappointing. read more

My family has been using the YMCA preschool for 2+ years. My oldest attended for 3yo and 4yo preschool and is now transitioning perfectly at her kindergarten, the YMCA preschool program really prepared her well! Had a child in the pre-school daycare and it was a huge mistake. When a child acted up, they just stood there & watched, didn't remove them from the room until they calmed down. You can't expect 3 year olds to behave all day. This facility needs to learn to manage children when they act up instead of being passive and then complaining to the parents. Would not recommend this place for child care. read more

It's been a while I did not go there and I think that I am going to take a membership this year. First, I like the fact that it is a charity. I like the place and the fact that you have the gym and the pool at the same place. I have only good things to say about the Schaumburg YMCA. We stopped taking the membership a couple of years ago because at this time, our kids were little and needed to jump or being crazy in the pool, the rules did not allow that so we went to a place where they could do it. All of our kids took swimming lessons to this YMCA. There is no better place than the Y. read more

If you want to workout somewhere that's family friendly, this is probably the right place. There are people of all ages from children to seniors working out here. The place is clean. The staff is friendly. And the other members have always been polite to me also. There are a good variety of machines and weights to use; some of the machines even have personal TVs. Most people just listen to their MP3s though. There is a pool but it's a bit small. All in all this gym has nice atmosphere. I have a couples membership that costs $58 a month (I read one of the earlier reviews on here and feel gipped that the price went up by so much). I'm looking into other gyms because we don't use it quite as much as we thought we would and that $58 is charged to my credit card every month so I'm the one feeling the sting. read more

In regards to the childcare program... The room is small and cramp. The children eat, play and sleep on cots in this same room. My daughter contracted head lice after being enrolled only 2 weeks. The director, will not provide polices and procedures when requested, will avoid questions and will not communicate with you if you are not the "custodial" parent and will play along with a vindictive ex, and bend to their will, regardless if it's in the child's best interest or not. Even though the law regarding child custody has changed in 2016, the YMCA has not yet received the memo and do not allow caring and loving parents to obtain basic information about their child. I would not enroll my child here if I had the choice to do so. read more

Plenty of machines available, usually because there are not too many people there. The "Y" does not treat all members fairly, I have continually asked them to change their main tv from Fox News so I can get away from the stress of politics. They have refused! They obviously force their political views upon members who do not wish to be subject to politics. I have went all the way to the CFO regarding their tv policy was treated with rude and confrontational posturing. read more

I don't have enough good words to say about this preschool. My daughter was in the 3's room with Ms.Jossie and Ms. Nency and according to us, they are the best. She loves them very much. Every time I dropped her off she was greeted with smile, and she can't wait for the next morning to go to school ( huge difference to the previous one when I had hard time to get her off the bed so she can prepare to school ). What I like about Campanelli is that they give you daily reports of what they are up to during the day. Including meals, naps, social activities esc. They would add a happy face sticker to the report so you will know that she did good. As for cost, I think that Campanelli is unbeatable. You pay less than $900 for 5 full day program with included hot lunch and two healthy snacks. Their menu was one of the main reason why I decided that my daughter will go to school here. The have healthy, well balanced lunch that did not include same all chicken nuggets or hot dogs. For snacks they have fruit or a bagel or protein bar.. Overall, Campanelli is a great place to send your child to preschool. It's a great environment with wonderful people taking care of your child. read more

Everything is fine here, but my main purpose was to relax and spend time in the hot tub. It is ALWAYS scalding hot!! You can't sit more than 5 minutes. I like to be in the tub at 15 minute intervals. Several people had the same complaint. I love a hot tub, but not getting boiled to death!! read more

I love this YMCA because it offers family packages for a great price, includes court, gym, pool, sauna, locker room usage and free classes to top it all off. You really get the bang for your buck here and its a great place to use for cardio while training. read more

equipment is new-ish. the floor sucks for basketball, i'd prefer hardwood. there's a lotta kids running around too. so look out for that. for those who have never been; it's basically a field house with a track on the outer edge. inside the track, it's divided into sections for bball and the weights + cardio equipment. the locker rooms are kinda tight. they need benches or more chairs. read more

Only here for my child's swim lesson so I pay the non-member fee which is over $10 a lesson. However, it's much better than the Schaumburg park district lessons. It's also based on age since I was told she can't move up because she's "kinda young." I'll be looking around. read more

DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILDREN IN THE DAYCARE!!! These people are mean, incompetent and bullies. My 3 year old was being called a monster right to my face by Mrs. Josie. When I complained they targeted me as a trouble maker and started writing up my daughter for everything from not being able to share to she won't sleep at nap time. They kicked her out for the day because she would not sleep. They told me that she is the only child in their facility that won't nap. LIARS!!! I spoke to other parents having the same problem. PLUS just by coincidence I met a lady who used to have her kids there and guess what..... same issues and she pulled her kids out. Not shocked. Also several times they called me because she was "sick" but when seen by the doctor he had no idea why my daughter was being sent home sick. Perfectly healthy child every time. On top of it all my daughter would complain about her face being squeezed. AND I heard the staff on several occasions bad mouthing the other kids. I could go on and on. Point Is don't put your child there. Unless of course you like the Abuse. read more

There has been a few times I have dropped off my nephew at the preschool and what I hear is yelling from a teacher in the room that has the 3 year olds, I believe and when another teacher comes to answer the door , she looks embarrassed and I can see that she is trying to distract the other parents from overhearing . This discourages me from wanting to put my child there . My nephew is in a different class but he says she yells at everyone . I gave 3 stars because he does speak highly of other teachers but that yelling one needs to be evaluated because she could ruin it for the whole school. read more

Our daughter recently completed her 2nd year at the YMCA preschool and she is ready for kindergarten. The teachers do a great job for the kids at every level, my daughter knows all of her letters (upper- and lower-case) and numbers, as well as beginning math. She has made great friends there and enjoys her days going to "school." read more

Really really disappointed with lifeguard named Jessica; we were in the swimming pool floating on the floating board and this lifeguard comes up to me and asked me not use it to float because it can hit someone. Now, I think she does't understand the physics here. I did not appreciate the way she talked with me. I feel that I should never go there again. read more

The daycare/pre-school there is fantastic! My daughter have been attending there for the past 2 years and she was in Ms Timea's and Ms Nancy's class. They are very attentive and caring and my daughter learned a lot from them. Very affordable for the a full day program. They keep track on her progress from the beginning of the school year to the end. The curriculum is on-par with any pre-school/private daycare around. They have cater lunch brought to the students. Better lunch than what I get! My daughter always praise how amazing her teachers and friends are at YMCA. Highly recommended! read more

Average YMCA. I travel quite a bit for my job and I have been to several YMCA's. This one is average at best. All Y's have pretty similar pricing so the price shouldn't really be considered. This review is based on the facilities, equipment, and staff. The facilities are on the end of it's useful life. Many of the lockers in the men's room are beginning to rust through and the shower room is very outdated and not clean. The tiles were very dirty and the shower heads were clogged with deposits. The swim suite dryer is leaking and has a bucket that collects the leaks. The equipment (I used the treadmills and elliptical machines) are on the older side. Many of the treadmills here are models that in most gyms are retired. Some of the treadmills skip while running. The same thing with the elliptical machines. The dumbbells are dated as well, as they have a mish-mash of different dumbbells. The staff however is very nice. They recognize me even when I come in just a few times in a 3-4 month period. This facility has never been too crowded even during the typical busy times. Not a bad Y, but certainly not the best. read more

I volunteered here as a sports coach for about a year. It was a great experience. I would suggest for everyone to try it. They offer a variety of fitness activities here. Find another provider/ camp! I signed both my sons after moving back to the area as I attended when I was a child. Both of my sons had more then one bad experience. Any behaviour issues with other children are handled very poorly. After one summer trying different camps, listening to neighbors similar experiences and using their Kasper after-school service through my local school. I know now not to use them, and I relay this information to every other mother who is considering summer camps - find another service. Schaumburg Adventure Day Camp is much better provider and the staff who work with the kids there are better equipt to handle situations in a more effective manner with a positive outcome. read more

if you're looking for a facility to use a treadmill or weights this is really a great facility, and i'd disregard this entire review. same for trainers- the staff here is really good the men's locker room isn't all that clean, showers in particular could use some cleaning. if you wanted to reserve a small locker- i wish you the best of luck. i've filled out forms a few times requesting one- after 3 years i'm pretty confident i wont be getting one. if you're looking to swim laps as an adult, i really have had nothing but bad experiences trying to access the pool at times that fit into my schedule. in 2016 they revised the pool schedule to leave one single lane open to adults on Saturday morning. Wednesday is pretty difficult to use the pool as well. if you're looking to use a pool as an adult, i wouldn't recommend this facility at all. the hot tub works, but you really need to know the trick of pushing the two motor buttons as hard as you can. read more

Both my 2 children have attended the preschool and summer camp and we are beyond happy with their program! The teachers are excellent as well as the camp counselors. The director is the nicest woman you will ever meet and we will miss everyone as our kids are now in grade school! I recommend this facility to everyone read more

The preschool program at this YMCA is excellent. The teachers for my 4-5year old were nurturing, creative, and very dedicated! I felt at ease leaving my daughter in their care while I was at work everyday. They provided educational opportunities as well as ample socialization. Ms. Timea and Ms. Nancy are the best! read more

I want to let people know that this YMCA is great . The front desk staff are very kind and helpful , the equipment seem to be clean and working. Sometimes the locker rooms run out of toilet paper but that is bound to happen . One issue I had last Friday on January 13, 2016 was the group of little kids drinking water from the water fountain . I think they are part of daycare or something . There were two staff members with them and a few of the kids where holding the water in their mouths . While the younger staff member ( can't remember their names ) was asking them nicely to swallow the older one was firmly telling them to swallow the water and then she proceeded to plug the kid's nose so she would swallow . Now I was not the only one that saw this . Other members witnessed this and we glanced at one another in shock . I would not want to put my child in that day care if that is how some of the staff members deal with kids. The older lady also shouted at the kids that they must not know how to walk in a line or follow directions . Anyway , the Y is a great place and this could just be an isolated incident but just my rant . read more
