After attending…read morethree sessions, the same issue has occurred each time: the coach spends approximately 40 minutes of the class sitting in the corner, without getting up to guide, observe, or interact with the children. While the warm-up is appropriate, once the stations begin, there is no active coaching. The children rotate through the equipment with no correction, no instruction, and no encouragement. They repeat the same movements incorrectly and do not receive any feedback on how to improve. The only station that receives any attention is the one closest to where she is seated. This results in: Children not learning or progressing Repeated mistakes with no guidance Bored and disengaged kids who are not developing confidence or interest in the sport At this age, children need a coach who is moving with them, observing, correcting form, and encouraging them -- not someone sitting apart from the class for most of the session. This is in clear contrast to our experience at Signature Gymnastics, where the coach was active, attentive, supportive, and involved. I am requesting that coaching expectations for this age group be reviewed. The children deserve active instruction and engagement from their coach.

A great recreational gym! (I can't speak for competitive since my daughter is not old enough to…read morecompete yet) AAG keeps growing and growing! I've been going to AAG for 3(+/-) years. My daughter has participated in multiple different classes. Pros: -For the most part the owners listen to feedback from parents (Within reason of course!). After many complaints of a crowded parent area they expanded to the warehouse next door. Recently they have upgraded from uncomfortable metal folding chairs to newer chairs and added some tables. Other feedback that I've seen AAG turn into improvements would be expanding the old parent area to provide additional seating and storage areas, and also adding additional viewing windows in the parent area so parents can watch classes easier. -They keep adding more classes, and a variety of classes. Multiple levels of recreational classes, Ninja, Preschool classes, daytime classes for preschool and home school, boys gymnastics, high school prep, tumbling, competitive team, and more. There is something for everyone. -Recreational classes are competitive in price with other gyms. Cons: -Like most teachers, everyone has a different way of teaching. Some coaches seem to have an easier time teaching students a skill than other teachers. Another thing I have noticed is that the classes don't seem very structured. Some coaches focus more on conditioning than others. These are not necessarily bad things, but they are inconsistencies I have noticed. -Keeping on the topic of coaches, with the exception of a few coaches who have been there for a few years, it seems to be a revolving door. Some coaches come in and are there for a month, then they're gone. -One complaint I've heard a few times is a gymnast being in the same class for some time with little to no improvement on skills. In one instance, two of the individuals had been in the class for about two years and were disappointed that they had not learned as much as they hoped. This could be for a number of reasons- the "revolving door" of coaches, the coaching inconsistencies, gymnasts not practicing/conditioning outside of class, etc. Sometimes it does seem like a slow learning process. Some skills are difficult to achieve and require taking that extra step. Overall, I think AAG is a great gym that has potential to become a well known gym in the area. They keep investing in new equipment and upgrading their facilities. People seem to like the gym because they keep coming back! As I mentioned before, AAG keeps growing and growing. The reason they keep growing and growing is because they are good at what they do.

The management of the facility is terrible for three main reasons: 1. Parking is a huge problem but the restriction on the front door makes the situation worse. There is a requirement to park behind the building and use the back door. In fact, there are threats posted inside the facility that if you are caught using the front door, your child will be dropped from the program. The problem is that there isn't nearly enough parking in the back of the building to accommodate all students. So most parents have to park on the street and walk down either side of the building. The problem is that there are always cars circling the building trying to find that parking in the back, so it's important to make sure your kids are pressed against the side of the building so they aren't hit by a car. I dread coming here in the winter when it gets dark earlier because I worry about the safety of kids arriving and departing from class. It's unclear why only employees are allowed to use the front door. It would seem smarter to relocate the reception desk to the front of the building and allow paying customers to come in that way safely. 2. The place is not very clean and lacks basic services like modern restrooms and working vending machines. So make sure your kids pee at home first and if you forget to bring a water bottle - too bad, you're heading to the gas station down the street. 3. It's too difficult for them to answer the phone. The recorded answer doesn't even indicate the company name and the voicemail box is always full. I found this out when I called to ask if the classes were taking place on a major Jewish holiday. Tried several times over the day and no answer. Yet when I arrived, the receptionist was calmly sitting there playing on her own phone because...priorities.
