I never leave negative reviews online as I believe in allowing a company the chance to correct their errors or respond to issues. This location does not care about the customer. If you will notice almost all of the good reviews are people being happy with the service they were provided when purchasing. If you need anything after that purchase you can count on major disappointment. I'm ashamed to say we didn't check the water pump when we purchased our unit which we should know better as we have purchased campers previously. However, they state they have checked everything before they sold it to us. We also purchased the warranty and I would not suggest purchasing the warranty if you plan to use this locations service department. We had to pay for the diagnostics to determine our water pump was out and that they sold to us with it not working. Then they charged our warranty for the work. The communication amongst themselves and with the customer is HORRIBLE. I maintained my patience throughout the process and kept notes on everything we went through and reported it to their GM and it boils down to he does not care. So when we got our camper back with more broken pieces than we took it to them with (broken locks, doorknobs, and cabinet panel) as well as the part still not working correctly we decided to simply wash our hand of them. I then wanted to cancel our warranty because we would never use their service department again and it took me a week to get anyone to call me back or answer my call. Once I was finally able to sing the paper to cancel the warranty I was never able to make contact with that individual again. I sent him 4 emails and left 2 voicemails over the next 60+ days (less than once a week and l was never rude). I finally made contact with another individual who never called me back. I finally found one person that followed through who then informed me that I would get no refund for my warranty because the warranty had been used to replace the part that they sold to me not working. I then asked not to cancel our warranty if we weren't going to get a refund and I was treated like I was crazy for requesting a refund but decided to keep something I wasn't going to get a refund for. I informed this individual that I appreciated their help, but I was disappointed our experience there had been so horrible. They apologized.....but never once asked what had happened or what their staff had done to let us down. I will never buy another camper at this location. I have been to other camping world locations since and this place is horrible in comparison. read more

We contacted Camping World of Kansas City back in April 2019 about coming all the way from Stroudsburg, PA to purchase a Forest River Sierra 379FLOK. They were the only dealer that had the specific model we wanted. With a month in advance notice, deposit made via phone, we headed to them via a 17 hr road trip. We arrived to see our RV for the first time and it was NOT SALE READY. It was filthy, broken draws, chips in wood molding,- simply devastating. We were rushed through the walkthrough and told to deal with warranty to fix everything. They ripped us off $3k on a package that was suppose to be included in the sticker price. They are a bunch of crooks and just care about $$$. We sent a official letter to the Camping World Headquarters and are waiting to hear back. They knew how desperate we were to get that specific model so they did not care about customer service and satisfaction, only about the cash offer that came in. My wife and I had a great experience working with Camping World in the search for a new RV. We had one of the most knowledgeable salesman Derek Graves that was a great listener with all of our needs and desires in our search for the perfect RV that we searched for throughout the Missouri area. He gave us recommendations from his experience which helped greatly. Derek had all the answers while sitting comfortably together within one of the most beautiful models we were looking at purchasing. I have seen some reviews that were not as highly rated as ours, but I can say one thing for sure, this particular Camping World has some of the nicest and easy to work with representatives in the industry. Yeah, I've had a good experience with the service side since I have had to bring back my brand new camper 5 times now to get things fixed. Also avoided commenting on how the paperwork side was a disaster. I was promised a package deal for a certain price as I was promised elsewhere. But I chose to buy from y'all just for the fact of being closer. Came back to bite me in the ass and got screwed out of $3,000 worth of warranty stuff. So, with that being said, the sales side sucks and screw you in the end, but I guess at least y'all are fixing all the stuff that is needed cause of the manufacturing issues. read more

BEWARE! THEY HAVE DESTROYED OUR VEHICLE! They took a 2 day job and turned it in to 2 months. The damages incurred are in the following email. And the people attached to the email also, seem to have no pull in getting these people to repair anything. Our vehicle was so new it only had 3,000 miles on it. Now we can't use it for the intended purpose as they have destroyed the trail rating. Since June of 2015, we have been battling them. I have kept from putting negative information out, as I had faith they would do the right thing. It appears, not so much. Once we finally received and inspected the Jeep, we immediately contacted CW to let them know that what they had returned to us was not the new vehicle we left in their hands (purchased new, only15 miles on it 3 months prior, with it's first oil change) and we expected them to take care of the damages incurred while in their care. It appeared to us that CW was intentionally evading our phone calls and emails, in which we have the phone log and the emails regarding the attempts to get our vehicle back in the same shape it was brought in to them. The majority of those phone calls we were left on hold, until being told the person went home, or just completely left on hold. We felt there was an extreme lack of respect, not only for property, also for us, as their customer. As days turned to weeks, and weeks to months, when we were able to actually speak with someone, and we were passed around a lot, the story slowly unfolded, bit by bit from different people. It became quite apparent that they were blaming different departments and not taking action to correct the situation. We were told a cable was cut too short, but they would make it work; possibly by drilling closer and hitting the wiring harness, in which, we were offered having it wired back together with wire nuts and electrical tape? Really? Who does this? A mechanic says they had the wrong schematic for the vehicle, it was an "oops". Instead of doing the other work requested, the rear hitch, we found out later that there was more damage created, as Landmark Jeep needed to replace both wheel wells as requested by CW. Having a month or so pass, we are hearing that the braking system will now be run under the seats and the carpets and installed in the rear storage area, although they are waiting on a longer cable. Cable? Like the first one, cut too short? Yes. The mechanic tells us he's never installed one of these before, after the salesman insists this is by far the best and superior braking system available for our vehicle and they have done many. I don't know if they've done tons of these or none of these, it's not my issue. There is much damage that has not been completed. We had told CW to just fix the holes and whatever they've done to it, and we would pick it up. We no longer wanted them to install the braking system. We even asked if, perhaps, another Camping World would be able to complete the job. We are extremely frustrated with CW, as we felt the business totally lacked in customer service, satisfaction, knowledge of what they encouraged us to use and then not knowing how to properly install it. During the time we needed our vehicle to be towed with our Motorhome, CW had it the entire summer. You now say it's been too long? Excuse me? Less than a star!! Took my 2018 Montana in to have ("warranty ") work done the furnace didn't work and the front cap leaked. 500 dollars later they said the furnace had a loose wire and the cap didn't leak so it wasn't warranted. We got set up 600 miles away and the furnace lit one time and quit again the rain we drove through filled the cap up with water so having to call a mobile service who diagnosed and replaced the bad gas valve and a new seal on the window just proves that the techs at Cw are incompetent and Lindsay Dickie won't return calls or emails!!!! I would prefer to give them 0 stars. We are full time RV'ERS and they kept our 5th wheel 2 1/2 months. It was a constant battle to get them to complete the necessary warranty work. I purchased a 2019 salem hemisphere from camping world back in march they price gouged the price of the camper sold us a unfinished camper and now they refuse to fix the issues so just a heads up i would not shop for a camper there. Bought a camper from them. Sales personnel were horrible (except 1). First guy I went to on the day I bought my camper didn't want to go outside with me so asked me how serious I was about buying. I was ready, willing, and able, but if he wasn't willing to get off his butt, I wasn't going to say that. Found another lady who was very helpful. Then, when I went to pick it up, I got hassled by a guy from my first, not-so-serious visit, about him not getting the commission. He wasn't even there on the day I went to make the purchase. Between signing the agreement to buy and the actual pickup date, I left 3 voicemails with sales and management because I had a question I needed answered before I picked up, but not one of those messages was returned. This should have been a huge red flag, but I showed up to complete the purchase anyways. On the pick up date, the walk-through was horrible. They guys they had doing it couldn't answer many of my questions, they rushed through, didn't demonstrate all the equipment. The camper was not cleaned before I picked it up either. The toilet was defective from the factory, and I didn't realize until my first camping trip that it didn't flush properly. Here I am 4 weeks from that discovery and they STILL haven't mailed me the part to fix it. I've tried to reach the general manager many times, but he refuses to return my calls. Corporate called with a customer survey, when I ripped them on that is when I FINALLY got a call back about the toilet. They told me to set up an appointment, but I didn't want to spend the diesel to tow that far for a simple part, so they offered to mail it. It took almost 2 weeks to get it into the mail, and I still don't have the part. Manager is still not returning my calls. read more

We bought a class C from this establishment July 2018. First clue about this place should have been when we went to pick it up They called us and said it was ready. We get a ride 300 miles from our home. Sign the papers and hand over the money. Then they tell us we can't take it because they don't have the title. WHAT!? Our ride had left since we had paid for the RV and we were 300 miles from home. A salesman had to take us home and we had to wait 2 more weeks until we said produce title or there is no sale. Next they were supposed to have prepped it before we picked it up. Today when winterizing it we find that the batteries didn't even have acid in them and the water filter didn't have a filter. One of the outside doors had a ding in it and they were supposed to have replaced that. That didn't happen so they were going to order one and have it shipped to us for my husband to replace. It is now the middle of Oct and we have not seen this door. They do not return our calls regarding it also. We will not go to this place again or recommend it to our friends. read more

Said it was done, picked it up and inside trailer is a foot square hole in the wall. Trailer is just under a year old and they left a hole in the wall that they cut out! I don't know how I am going to get it fixed and even though it is under warranty for a few more days I am not taking it back to Camping World of KC. I had a terrific experience with CW Columbia. We have bought 2 campers from this Camping World location. I would like to think we were loyal customers. The most recent one was a 2020 Thor Freedom Elite. After our 1st trip, there were some major issues, so we took it back to have Camping World repair. After having it for nearly 6 weeks and not doing much work on it, they had a break in at their facility and the thieves cut out our catalytic converter as well as 11 others. Camping World is not taking any responsibility for this even though it was in their secure area. There is a document that you sign saying that they are not responsible for damage not in their control. Well, this was clearly in their control. They had a electric fence that was not working. What a shame that they will not allow their insurance to cover instead it is our insurance that will go up as a result of a claim. They have lost any and all future business from us. Update: Through the help of Camping World's insurance company and corporate, they are taking care of the situation. I would have gone with a 5, but for the initial response. This is however, an update to show that they do care and will do what is necessary to make happy customers. read more

We bought a used 2014 Thor Windsport in April of 2018. I noticed the full-wall slide was not all the way out at the rear when we 1st looked at it and the salesman (Chris) said he would have service check it out before we bought it (service dept. was also supposed to make sure all items/appliances were working before we took possession too). When we test drove it there was a piece of black hard plastic laying in the floor but it didn't appear to be broken from anything inside the camper. They supposedly cleaned/detailed the inside prior to letting us take it. The 1st time I open the slide after we get home, I find a big gouge in the vinyl flooring from the piece of black plastic (it had been wedged underneath the slide floor). I take pictures, send them to Chris, he talks to the general manager and they agree to pay/perform a mobile repair on the vinyl at my house. At first he says he'll have the vinyl guy contact me and set up a time. A month goes by without any call from the vinyl guy so I text the salesman and also tell him we are having trouble with the slide out. He says he's forwarding my contact info to the service director and they will contact me. No one ever calls. I call the service dept. on 2 occasions 8 days apart (didn't get name the 1st time) and both times they tell me they don't have any info about my problem and they're going to have to get with the salesman. I then leave 2 voicemails, about a week apart, to Julianne ( took my 2nd call) and she fails to return my call both times. By now my slide-out has something seriously wrong so I take it to a dealer that has done rv repairs for me in the past and leave it with them to figure out the slide problem because I can't get this horrible Camping World location to even return a phone call. I call Camping World again and ask to speak to the Service Mangager and suprisingly he does return my call within an hour. I explain all of this to him and what does he want me to do, bring the unit in for them to examine it (when I was told they would have someone come to the house and fix it). And they would like to look at the slide-out too. Really? I don't think so. I called the factory today and found out the unit has had two major repairs done on the slide-out system under warranty and this Camping World did the 2nd repair, just 3 months after another dealer had done a complete replacement of the Schwintek system. I'm pretty sure they knew the slide-out wasn't operating properly when they sold it to me. I wish I'd have thought to get the VIN# and call the factory before I'd bought it. Drew D. read more

Wow. Be careful here. Had an emergency which this camping world was able to fix but here's the deal. They charge $129 just to LOOK AT your unit. Then they charge another $129 for diagnostics and another $75 for parts. They come over and verify charges with you while you wait BUT fail to mention the $129 just because you brought it in. Very suspicious behavior. So we paid $340 to fix the tail lights. Won't go back there again. read more

I purchased a used Travel trailer there this weekend. Bill was my salesman. Bill was a pleasure to work with. He helped get us into our first TT in the price range we requested. No pressure to buy a new or more expensive unit. Tim helped with the finance of the TT, and also was a pleasure to work with. No pressure to buy additional options, and just provided the plans available. We then worked with Todd during the walk through of our TT. He was thorough and patiently explained all the features of the TT. I was very happy to find that they inspected and repaired issues with the AC and misc items. Since I bought it "as is" that was a nice service. My only issue was with a cashier at the store connected to the business. That cashier was unwilling to check the stock for and item not on the shelf. However, his coworker, Chris, did help look up an items we needed. That cashier needs to be more like Chris. read more

Campers world of grain valley makes promises and then after the sale they could care less. I purchased a new 5th wheel camper. They installed my 5th wheel hitch in my truck. They told me my trucks bed liner would have to come out. Not a problem. They told me they would deliver my $500 liner to an address only a few miles up the road from them since I had no way of taking it there. Now it's been two weeks since the sale and they still have the bed liner. When I asked them when they are going to deliver it, the sales rep that Sold me the camper, told me to come get it. He could care less. I am filing a small claims action against them tomorrow morning to get my $500 back. I would buy from another dealer. There are 3 other dealers on the same road. Stay away from these guys. Terrible customer service. read more

I would NEVER recommend anyone to purchase any type of unit from Camping World of Kansas City. I can't speak of the other locations, but this location is not customer friendly, especially Matthew Schultz. We purchased a unit months ago and have gone in circles trying to get things repaired that should not have stopped working in our unit. Matthew was very condescending and not willing to work with us in any way to resolve our problems in a way that was convenient for us. We do want to say that our sales person was AMAZING, but other departments of that specific store don't seem to have the same expectations when it comes to customer satisfaction. VERY disappointed!! The service department of Camping World of KC is horrible. For the time we picked up our camper (Sept. 2015) until now (15 months later) we are still trying to get things serviced properly. The first time I used our travel trailer the tongue jack failed was they replaced it with a jack that was too light duty for the trailer. They then ordered and new one and after driving the 90 miles between our residence and the business was shown the same light jack as a replacement after a month of waiting. They acknowledged it was they wrong one again and said they would order the correct one. After no communication from them in 3 months I ordered and replaced the jack myself with one from Amazon. The next trio out after connecting the trailer "city" water we noticed a leak from the docking station under the bathroom sink. It once again took a couple months for them tho get the new part (a docking station) which they replaced. The next time I used the camper was about a month after the repair and noticed they had connected the hoses for the tank fill and city water in reverse. After returning from my trip to S.D. I took the trailer again for repair for this as well as replacing screws in the J hooks that hold the lower trailer trim in place. (I had done a "on road repair" to the j hook and panel by putting wire ties through the hole to minimize damage). After another month wait at their facility I was told I could pick our trailer up. The docking station was still not fixed and when I inspected the j hook repair I found my tie wrap still in place. I called them back and they said they would send a repairman to where we would be camping for a week (about 10 miles from them) ... no one showed up and once again no communication from them. When I got home I called them again and this time they said they would send someone to our house to make the repairs. After a couple weeks the tech comes and "shoots" a screw into the mounting holes for the j hook hook with my tie wrap still in the hole. When he looked at the docking station he said the hoses were to short to switch around and he believe the trailer had the wrong docking station in it and he would have the correct one ordered when we returned to the shop. After another month and once again not hearing from the service department I called to check the status on the parts order only to find out it hadn't been ordered. During that conversation I also reported to them that Forest River has issued a safety recall on the trailer and gave them the number for that recall. Once again I was told they would order what is needed for these repairs. It is now 2 1/2 months later, I called 2 weeks ago and left a message to call me and have heard nothing from them. read more

This place is so bad! If I could give it zero stars I would! Their customer service is horrendous and their communication is even worse! We bought a brand new camper from them and they sold it to us broken. They charge a fortune to have your camper set up and tested and also to walk you through all the bells and whistles. Ironically enough they did that with us missing one thing. The heater. Hindsight, I now know that that was not accidental. We were on our 1st camping trip and it was 40° and we tried to use the heater to find it broken. We called the service department and not one person would help over the phone to try and troubleshoot our problem. Before I get ahead of myself, maybe the worst person in this entire location is the receptionist. She is by far one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Finally, we were able to get our camper in and it has been there for weeks and weeks. No one will return an email and no one will return my phone call to let me know when I can come get it. Apparently it's completely fixed however they are holding our camper hostage I guess until they get paid from the manufacturer. If you are in the market to buy a camper, go anywhere but this place! I cannot stress enough how much of a headache this has been and I 100% regret ever stepping foot on their property! read more

The lack of professionalism, the horrible customer service, and the misleadings (lies) of the sales staff pretty much sums up this dealer. I will never do business with this company again and have steered my friends away from making purchases here as well. I don't know where to start! What an unbelievably horrific experience. We had several issues with this camper - faucet placed in backwards, broken radio, and several other things. Then the walk through guy told us wrong information on how to use the camper - slide out broke the first night. Then, after our air conditioner went out on the brand new 4 month old camper, it was replaced 3 times and now had a hole in the roof top (that was secretly patched and never disclosed to us). We notified the manager about the damage and was told he would do anything to help resolve the issue and to make sure we were satisfied with our camper. He stated he would including time and travel expense, as well as a credit to their store. We chose to trade it in being that we obviously couldn't trust the quality of work from their technicians. We were told we could pick out any camper and they would get it in for us. WRONG! They would only trade for what they had on the lot. Then they went back on their word on the credit and travel expense. After dealing with several individuals (we could never get the same one to call or email us back) we ended up being lied to our faces by the financial guy (who again wouldn't call us back) and ended up with a deal we were not happy with. In the end, we will NEVER recommend this or any camping world to anybody! We felt taken advantage of and are completely unhappy with the individuals and the company! read more

Traveling from Florida to BC, my Pleasureway van conversion developed a charging problem with the house battery. Billy, the service manager wrote it up immediately and put a tech on it right away. They diagnosed it to be a problem with the Mercedes side of the system which they are not allowed to touch: I understand this and have run into this situation before. Billy was apologetic and offered to get in touch with the local Mercedes dealer and stated there would be no charge! Now that is customer oriented service: Marcus would be proud! read more

This is a review of the camping world service center. Bought our coach to them for new rooftop A/C gasket and to be winterized. Their free courtesy inspection gave them the opportunity to try and up sell over $4000 in unnecessary scare tactic repairs. We refused the unnecessary work and asked for the original requested repairs to be done. Also asked if they would check the tire pressures and they wanted $28!! Wow, so much for courtesy. Anyways coach set completed for over a week and no phone call. Left 2 messages with our sales/service advisor and still no return call. Finally called a different service associate and found out coach was ready. Paid and picked up our coach. Jumped on I-70 headed home and Surprise the 16 foot slide on our coach was left partially open Wow! Got off the Interstate and closed the slide. Evidently they left it open when they were doing their Free courtesy check/up sell. Hopefully there was no damage done to the slide while driving. Oh and today it is raining and the A/C gasket they replaced is leaking horribly. So my advice is to steer clear of this place. There are better places to have work on your RV done. read more

Took our new camper back for some warranty work and told them we needed it back because we were leaving on vacation in a week and a half. Called the day we were supposed to go get it and they hadn't even looked at it. After vacation we took it straight back to get the repairs done and a month later we had planned on taking it on a mini vacation, they still hadn't fixed it. Today we were supposed to go get it and we still didn't get it. So much for our mini vacation...I do not recommend them to anyone! I would never recommend this dealer for anything, sales, parts and especially not for repair work. I bought my hybrid trailer back in May 2015 to start off the sales person left before the sale was complete and handed me off to someone else . The unit wasn't clean and it took two hours to get out of there. Once I got it home, the next day it rained and I immediately found out it leaked from the front tent area. Took me until 6 June to get the unit into repair. After 9 months of the unit going back and forth to Camping World, it still leaks today. No other RV place in the area will do warranty work on something they did not sell.. They even had the audacity to return my unit with damage to the rear driver's side panel. I place a complaint with the attorney Generals office and the smug manager said the AG couldn't make him do anything. Not the place I would send my worst enemy. In February 2015 we went to Camping World in Grain Valley Missouri to look at a motorhome. Surprise it was sold. We were talked into buying a 2011 Flagstaff Vlite. We were assured by the salesman the trailer was in excellent condition. He knew this because he was the original owner. We should have known better because we are the third owner in 4 years. They assured us they would check everything out and make sure everything was in excellent condition. When we went through the walk thru It was a cold winter day and they had all the shades up and all the slide outs out. They gave us general information on the trailer. We brought it home on a 35 mile trip and soon discovered that the 12 volt battery was no good, 2 day and night shades were missing, there was a large tear in the seal of the living room slide and the winter cover under the trailer was falling down. The most disturbing problem was a large crack opened up above the back door clear to the roof. We contacted our salesman and he said you bought a used unit I don't know what to tell you. I sent him a picture of the crack, He said that the shop told him we must have hit something and to contact our insurance company. Even a moron could tell it was a stress crack. We were getting nowhere so we E Mailed the CEO to complain. A few days later the general manager of the Grain Valley store contacted us. He said he wasn't responsible for anything and he complained about the letter we wrote to the CEO. After he was contacted by the CEO he agreed to pay for the repairs on the crack but nothing else. We had showed the picture of the crack to the repair shop. He said rough estimate would be $800.00. We told the general manager what he said He said okay have him contact me when it is done and he would pay for it over the phone. The repairs ended up being $1300.00 because it was worse than the picture showed. The repair man told me that the repairs was just a patch and that he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't crack out again in a week and it was probably due to a structural problem being the walls and ceiling were bonded and he didn't want to get into it. When he contacted the general manager for payment, the general manager said I'm paying the $800.00 and no more. If you want the rest get it from the owners. When he agreed to pay for the crack we explained to him that the repair man said he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't crack again. The general manager said no problem and that he would give us full trade in of what we paid if it cracked again. When he refused to pay the full amount of the repairs we contacted the CEO again. After the E Mail the general manager contacted us again and said he would pay for it if we signed a release. I said I would if he would give us 6 months on the crack and keep his word on the trade in if it cracked again. He said No and he didn't have to do anything for us and that we probably hit something on the way home anyway. It was clearly a stress crack. We never hit anything, besides that we paid for all other repairs out of our pocket. We have had the trailer for over 4 months and have been unable to use it. These people are rude and obnoxious. I will never spend another dollar there again. If I would have read the reviews on Camping World I would never have shopped there.
