This place is horrible. The place damages your RV more than it will ever fix it. I bought my rig from them in Sept of 2024. They have had the unit more than I owned it. It is ridiculous. I had to bring it to them to continuously address issues. I will admit some of what was being addressed was not related to them and it was something that may have occurred or I asked to have put on. But the warranty ticket was/is about 5 pages long. They have been slow to fix things and they do not respond to emails or calls. Recently they had my RV for almost 6 months and did nothing with it except create 2 big gash in my interior doors and sink area and fix only one of 7 items I brought it in for. One of which was they had bent my bumper the last time it was there and was supposed to take care of it but did nothing. They don't care about you after the sale. They have an extremely horrible business practice. The managers do not even call you back. Buyers beware! They are only nice to take your money initially. Everything negative you read about them online is true. Don't trust your money to these con artists. Ask yourself one thing if you read this review. Why is it that they only comment on people who give good reviews but never address the reviews with issues... just saying the customer care is telling! About a month after ordering, we came to Thornburg to take delivery of the camper. The sales process went alright! We left with the camper. A few weeks later, we took the camper out to break it in. I immediately noticed that one of the tires didn't match the other three. Not only did it not match, it was a completely different tread pattern, had a different load rating, was a different ply-level, and had different air requirements than the other three. I immediately called Dan, the sales manager at Thornburg Camping World. He was incredibly rude and informed me that my camper had a flat tire on the lot, and they had replaced it with whatever they had lying around. He also informed me that their policy is that if there is a flat tire, then they are not required to put a matching tire on there, but can instead put ANY new tire that they find to replace it. I thought that this was surely a mistake, so I called Gavin, the General Manager. After calling for seven days straight to try to get a hold of him, he finally answered. He confirmed for me the claim that Camping World is not required to put matching tires on its campers. I was blown away, as Gavin was very annoyed to even be speaking to me about it. I called Jayco. They confirmed for me that you should never, ever run two different tires on the same axle of a camper - especially with different load ratings and PSI. They recommended I replace the tire immediately. I told them about Camping World, and they filed a report. I don't have high hopes that they'll get anything done about it. I filed a formal complaint with Camping World corporate. I will update this review if anything comes from it. Ultimately, Camping World decided not to replace a $300 tire - they decided that $300 is worth more than the safety of my family and I. They have lost a customer for life. They saved $300, but lost all future sales, maintenance, and I've already steered 3 of my friends to local RV dealerships instead of Camping World. DO NOT BUY! Purchased a Destination trailer in September of 25. they were to do some upgrades to the unit (slide out covers, toilet changes and interior punch list items) after months of delays and "issues"with delivery the unit arrived Filthy both inside and out damaged! Missing screen door ,Missing Stairs,No Power cord to enable it to be opened upon delivery. After opening discovered major structural damage on one go the main slide outs, leak behind the water heater that caused flooding when connected to water , punch list items not completed!. Sales man Tim Never responded to our concerns GENERAL MANAGER GAVIN has not responded to ANY of our Calls or Emails The cord that was to be overnighted arrived 5 weeks later so we are out an addition $250 . I would NEVER purchase from Camping World again. Especially from a show. We were promised all kinds of things, like we could get a different refrigerator and they added $3K to our contract only to find out day of pickup that in no way could they do that but it was already part of our loan. It was refunded but is part of the monthly payments now. On first time using the camper we found the refrigerator door is broken, the kitchen blinds are broken and we had to go two different times to pick up, first they told us they didn't have the tools to remove our capture plate and then after talking to a manager they were just fine with taking it off and putting it on the new camper. And I saw the same guy who said they couldn't do come back out with the proper tools take it off. I feel like they were being lazy and just not good customer service. When it came to the tour of how everything worked the guy made me feel like we should've not even bought this camper and nothing worked the way it was supposed to. Also at the show buyer beware, they talk a good game but they don't clear anything with the real store. This experience was a complete nightmare and I'm so sorry we even bought this camper now. Unfortunately we are stuck with it until we can go to General RV and trade it in. We tried to cancel our sale the very next weekend but we were told it was already at the bank so we couldn't do it. I do not normally leave reviews, but after nearly a year and a half of dealing with extremely poor service and lack of communication, I feel compelled to share our experience with the Thornburg, VA location. In April 2024, we purchased a travel trailer from this dealership. Upon delivery, we noted a damaged trim piece that was missing a large chunk. The store manager assured us it would be covered under warranty and that we would be contacted within a month to bring the unit back in for repair. That follow-up never happened. Over the following months, we made multiple phone calls, only to be told that no one had information or that someone would return our call--which never occurred. On February 26, 2025, after getting nowhere by phone, we submitted an online customer service request. We were asked to send pictures and dimensions of the damaged part, which we did on March 8. I followed up on March 14 and was told the Thornburg dealership was handling it. After another week of silence, we called Thornburg again and received the same runaround. On May 17, I followed up yet again. On May 19, Amber Mackey responded--unprofessionally--claiming it was our fault for not sending the information to the service director. I responded with proof that the email, including the pictures and dimensions, had in fact been sent on March 8 and included all required information. There are a few key points I want to highlight: -Amber's dismissive tone and lack of accountability were unprofessional and unnecessary. -If the service director never received the email, it should not have taken two months--and multiple follow-ups from us--for someone to follow up. -Since purchasing the camper, every single contact has been initiated by us. We have never once received proactive communication or follow-up from the dealership. To make matters worse, we live two hours away from this dealership. When they finally received the replacement piece--more than a year and a half later--we were expected to make two round trips to drop off the camper, leave it for the repair, and return again to pick it up. Even while the camper was in their possession, we called to ensure the work was being completed. Multiple staff members claimed they either did not know the camper was there or had no information on the status of the repair. This level of disorganization and communication failure is simply unacceptable. We are incredibly dissatisfied with this entire experience. From the initial purchase to what should have been a simple warranty repair, the lack of professionalism, follow-through, and accountability at the Thornburg location has been consistent and frustrating. To make matters worse their philosophy and terms, according to our Salesman," are that you must FIRST purchase the Motorhome, or travel trailer, then take it home, or travel with it, & YOU have to MAKE A LIST of all of the REPAIRS & CONCERNS you have with "Said RV's," what a crock of baloney, this is a TRAVESTY. HOWEVER, I would absolutely look around and if there is a private mom and pop shop, I would look - you may get a better price. The issue I had with Camping World, is we arrived to pick up (Paying cash for this) our 19 foot travel trailer. We got there at 11am and didn't get out of there until after 5PM. We took our RV to Camping World/Gander RV of Thornburg in February 2022 to replace a valve in the propane tank. We called pretty much every week to find out the status of our repair but we were always told that they would call us back. At one point, they blamed Winnebago warranty and they were holding things up, this was in April. We called Winnebago warranty and they confirmed that they would cover the repair and gave the go ahead for repair at the beginning of March. We called back and we were told that we would get a call back about our repair. So in May, we called again, and in June, and eventually we were told that their corporate offices were holding things up. Eventually, in September 2022, we called again and was told it was corporate holding things up. So I found corporate's number and called them and they called BS and said they would look into. A few days later, we finally got a call from Camping World/Gander RV of Thornburg saying they have finally ordered the part and will have the repair done. We finally picked up our RV on 25 October. We asked them what repairs they had done and how it went and the man was curt and rude and said to read teh paper. When we got home, we discovered that the cassette toilet was full, the grey water talk was full, the cushions were askew, there are unaccounted for miles on the RV, and the water tank has a massive leak. We think someone was either renting it out or using it themselves Do NOT go to this place. It was the worst experience we've ever had and now we have to find a new shop to do the repairs for us. I purchased a Keystone RV Travel trailer and from the day I closed the deal and signed, it's been impossible to get information about aftermarket upgrades and replacement parts. Why promote aftermarket upgrades if neither the manufacturer nor the dealer has time to deal with the customer after the sales deal is closed. It's been a constant run around from the dealers parts dept, to Keystone RV Inc, to individual the product manufacturers/vendors - then back around again. These parties all have a script for consumers who call in search of information "Sorry we can't help, please contact your [dealer/RV Company/product support/etc., etc.]. The shoddy aftermarket support is just the tip of the iceberg.... there's not enough time in a day for a complete review of how awful this process has been. I will never again purchase an RV from any Camping World/ Gander RV nor will I purchase another Keystone RV!! read more

This amplifies the review from Sonia M. I actually purchased this RV for Sonia. We were told that although they wouldn't necessarily fix anything found wrong, they would check every system and let us know if anything was amiss. They even put a Virginia safety Inspection sticker on this RV. The side marker lights didn't/don't work, the oven doesn't work and the shower drain wasn't even hooked up to the grey water tank and leaked directly on top of the grey water tank. After contacting a mobile RV repair team, they also found the grey water tank was completely full of rotting food particles!! I realize that buying "used" and "as is" is tricky, but I actually believed they would check. Once we found out about the running lights, I talked to customer relations at Camping World and she said to send her a copy of the estimate and they would see what could be done. Well after two calls and almost a month of waiting, I got a response that stated since I didn't buy any of the offered warranties, they would pay nothing for the repairs. The bill was around $1500.00!! My question is how did they check anything and then put a one year safety inspection sticker on this unit when it had so many issues. Of course now knowing the have an "F" rating by the BBB for both the Thornburg and Manassas locations, I STRONGLY recommend you look elsewhere to purchase an RV. read more

MY RV was hit while it was in a storage lot. It was towed to Camping World of Thornburg where it sat for almost 5 months. Not once did they call me with an update on my RV. I would call periodically and they were very rude on the phone. When I was told that my RV was ready, I arrived early that morning and it was undrivable and the repairs were not done correctly and no one checked to see if the work was complete. I waited 4 hours and they were unable to make the repairs so had to drive the 2 hours home without my RV. I still don't know when it will be fixed. Each person I talk to refuse to accept any responsibility. My RV is not safe to drive and the repairs should have been easy. They don't check their work and they don't appear to care about the safety of their RV service. This place is UNSAFE. DO NOT TAKE YOUR RV HERE. read more

We started our camper search at Camping World because they have a large selection of models. Upon arrival, we had to sign in and were put on a waiting list for the next available sales person. This did not take long, approximately 5 minutes or less. We met with Amber who was new to Camping World. Amber asked the typical sales questions you get when shopping for any large purchase these days such as monthly payment we were comfortable with. This is a tactic I just go along with even though I don't care about the monthly payment. I just want to know what my out the door price is. After looking at a few models that apparently management thinks they should show you, we settled on a model we really liked. We weren't ready to commit since we were new to the whole travel trailer market and wanted to do some research. They brought in a manager who went over the payments and total cost which was the listed price. We decided to do some additional research and went to McGeorges and General in Ashland to do some more looking. We came to the conclusion we wanted a used trailer as opposed to new and Camping World Thornburg had the one we wanted so we arranged to look at it. A 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH. We met with Amber several times and we agreed on a price. Finance had left for the day so we filled out credit and went home. After some additional thought, we became unsure again of what to do even though we really wanted that camper or at least a used Grand Design Imagine 2800BH. We continued to work with Amber who was great throughout the process and eventually purchased the camper. When we went to finance we were brought all sorts of warranty options and purchased one. We ultimately decided to cancel it but that was a hassle, it required multiple phone calls that were not returned by finance and several store visits. Finally I advised I would wait until finance could see me. I wasn't leaving until I signed the paperwork to cancel the warranty contract. After 15 minutes or so I was able to do so. We'll see how well that goes. Hopefully that paperwork doesn't get lost in the process but I took photos of the paperwork as I handed it back. We'll see. Overall the process is like any car buying process. Amber, our salesperson was great though and we haven't had any issues so I can't comment on problems other than the extended warranty cancellation which was annoying. We were told to stay away from Camping World by many people who own RVs. At this point, my position on those statements is they are unfounded. I reserve the right to change that view. With that being said, where do you go to purchase a large ticket item and negotiate for the best price and not have a terrible experience? It's literally impossible unless you love doing it. I mean to say that our experience was great from a sales rep perspective but typical for buying a titled product. Products inside the store are overpriced in my opinion but that doesn't mean they actually are overpriced. I'm just not willing to pay the price on some items they carry. Some items were priced at a point I was willing to pay and I purchased them. It's a business and I'll continue to visit until I am given a reason not to do so. read more

We got pricing checked with the manager as well and appointment scheduled and even double checked the vehicle and they confirmed it was the one we were looking at. On 11Apr2024 I took a 2021 Coachmen Freedom Express 292BHDS trailer to the Camping World Thornburg Service center to repair a leak in the front window on the fiberglass shell. Water would come from the top of the glass and fill the well on the inside of the glass. I took the camper in for a diagnostics and the tech took the trailer for an hour. The front desk lady comes out and tells me they couldn't find a leak. However, she said the tech, without telling her, went ahead and did a messy sealant job on the inside of the window. I certainly wouldn't have authorized sealant on the inside of the window as that will do little from keeping external water out. After I complained their answer was let us keep it for a "couple days" and if it gets rained on we may be able to find the leak. I offered to get a hose and show them the leak but they said that wasn't possible because the only hose is inside the shop. I surmise they don't want to get a lot of water on the shop floor so they don't liberally spray to find the leak. Which also explains their method of letting it get rained on. After seeing the terrible job of the unwarranted caulking job, the complete lack of knowledge with camper repair, I am hesitant to let them touch the trailer again. I took the trailer home and sure enough the water is still leaking in after the first rain a couple hours later. Now the water is mixed in with the terrible caulking job and will have to be removed prior to actually fixing the issue. I paid over $98.00 for a diagnostic fee and left with more work to do to actually fix the issue. If you are considering bringing in your RV or buying from Thornburg I would certainly reconsider. They appear to be a mess and I wouldn't trust their "techs" to fix anything if this is indicative of the level of service they provide. read more

STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this business!! I would give it 0 stars if I could!!! DO NOT BUY A camper at Camping World in Thornburg, VA!!!! 3 weeks ago we purchased a camper and we have yet to receive it. They had very little communication after purchase, act as they know nothing and will "get you the answer" and/or don't answer or return phone calls! Within 36 hours of our purchase, they cashed our $3,500 down-payment and we have no camper or anything in our possession to date. They were going to deliver our camper 4 days after purchase because they said they needed to full detail and final inspection of the camper we bought. We had a trip booked and planned to leave the day after it was due to be delivered. We had to cancel the trip because we never got the camper! 12 hours before delivery, we received a phone call saying the camper wasn't going to be delivered because the part didn't come in...what part?!?! We were never told it needed a thing. I am grateful they were replacing the part, but some communication would have been appropriate rather than a phone call 12 hours prior to delivery saying it wasn't ready. 2 days before delivery I had received a text saying, we were on schedule for delivery - not a word about anything needing to be fixed!!! This was just the start of the issues. The GM Gavin is a joke - he continually ignores phone calls, won't return calls and tells his associates to tell people he is "unavailable". I sat on hold for nearly 40 minutes and told them I was not hanging up until he was available. He would be out of a job if he worked for me! I have years in customer service and this is by far one of the worst experiences I have had. This Camper World is a factory to move campers as quickly as possible and scam people to make $$ and don't care anything about their customers!!! I have filed a complaint with the cooperate office, assigned a "case number to our issues" and seemed helpful at first, was willing to give us a few things for all of our issues, but i still have not received anything. The supposed "part' we are waiting, we were told would be "delivered last week" to "in transit Saturday" and we are still waiting on delivery 15 days after they said it was supposedly ordered!!! We are approaching 3 weeks since we made the purchase but have no sight of when we may actually get this camper, if at all. And we are now having to cancel our 2nd planned camping trip that was scheduled for next week. We are hoping to get out of this deal and find an RV dealer that sells quality RV's and cares for it's customers. Backstory: We were quoted online for our camper at this place for $45k after buying our camper that we realized was just too large and difficult for my husband to tow. When we got there and they evaluated the 3 month old camper that had cosmetic issues with an easy fix, minimal cost repair under, they said the person quoting us made a mistake. This Camping World stole our money and told us the camper we traded in that was just a few months old was worth only $28k, told us it had problems that would cost them at least $10K to fix and that they wouldn't get much of an investment on, well, I argued the camper was only used a few times and that the issues with it were minimal, they turned around and sold it for $55k and to boot the camper they sold us they said was a much better investment, we turned in 44 times for issues with it, and each time they held the camper for weeks and even months at a time saying the parts they needed weren't in. And to boot, they went from being nice to snarky and rude with us when we attempted to haggle for sale price. We kick ourselves everyday for this because we were the classic example of being taken advantage of for not knowing enough as consumers. That is our part, but I strongly advise whomever is thinking of doing business with this location to please reconsider as it would only hurt you if you did. Business with them.
