I started going to this store in Fredericksburg a few years ago as the other vendor who sells firearms is so slow that it was painful to buy a gun with this business. Recently I bought a rifle at the Fredericsksburg location, intending to pick up the weapon on 30 June. Upon arrival, my weapon was ready but the Va State Police check was not processed due to horrendous volume of checks being done before new VA laws went into effect on 1 July 2026. So, I had to go home, driving back 50 miles to where I live, and then returned a few days later when Sportsmans called me and told me my VSP check was complete. I picked up my weapon in a few minutes and went home, as these guys are very fast and efficient in their processes to buy guns. Two days after I got home, I received a credit for 50 dollars for my purchase, which I can assume was due to not getting my weapon when they told me to come to the store and pick it up. I did not ask for any refund nor did I suggest any, but Sportsmans gave me one anyway. This is the type of business model that makes life long customers and shows a level of caring about people that I do not see often in any business. Thanks for the 50 bucks and it was a pleasure doing business with this location. (in case anyone is wondering, I am a retired Fed with a LEOSA permit, so there is never any issue with a VSP check for a firearm purchase, with 47 seconds the least amount of time I had to wait for my check to clear the VSP). read more

Lousy. Went in looking for a some surf poles and reels. in the middle of summer. They had like 4 poles, all same brand and overpriced. No one came up and asked if they could help, walked around the store for over half hour. Finally went up to some lady employee who said she knew a little about fishing but then pointed me to the freshwater stuff when I asked about saltwater surf rods and reels. Poor inventory and total lack of customer service. Worse than Gander Mtn which went out of business at this same location, by the way. This business won't be long to follow. So lame, don't waste your time at this place. read more

This store has lost two customers for good. My husband and I drove all the way from Troy, Virginia to shop at the Fredericksburg. Sportsmans warehouse. My husband asked the lady at the front desk in the gun department about a Smart fit AR15 vise block.  She snapped at him, saying "we don't have it". My husband mentioned that it showed to be in-stock online. This woman proceeded to YELL at my husband, saying "It doesn't matter if you saw it online, we don't have it!" My husband and I went to see a manager, and asked him about the vise block. He knew exactly what that was, and said he could get it for us.  After we explained what happened, he gave us a 10% discount and said he would address the problem. The sad thing is, this same altercation happened with the woman the last time we went to the store. Something tells me that we aren't the first customer who has been mistreated by her, and likely not the first to report her behavior. This is the last time we are ever visiting this Fredricksburg location. read more

Yeah, they have a giant store with a lot of over head more than likely.... Their website listed a number of items listed as in stock for pickup only , only to find them Woefully out of stock and for some time. The employee at the counter in the back says he has brought this to their attention with no action ever taken. Why should they? Highly desirable items are a big draw. I was also looking for powder. The powder is not priced with labels , but arranged on the shelf behind corresponding stickers. Head to the checkout and instead of $45 it was $60. I told her that the sticker on the shelf described the product in my hand but with the wrong surprise price at checkout. She gave me static saying customers move product around. No apology or even the slightest oooops, of an excuse. So, there are other sporting stores around as well as online merchants that are not half as lame or unaccountable. Awful lack of customer service. My husband and I went into this location to purchase another firearm about a month ago. We approach the gun counter and NOONE offers assistance unless you go up and ask for it. We approach a fellow name, Collin. We let him know that we are there to purchase. He lets us know that it will be a minute as others are ahead and laptops are in use. It is finally our turn and as he starts to setup the laptop to proceed with the purchase process, As my husband begins to answer the questions I turn to him to ask my husband a question about another item I have in mind and Collin with a very nasty arrogant attitude tells me I can NOT be next to my husband during the process then signals me to step away. I step back and am confused as to why a wife can not be by her husbands side during that time. Collin says its not allowed and he ask another worker whom I dont recall his name but if you can roll back the tape of that date, you can see how exactly who it was, If I see him again I would recognize, Asks him to stand by our side so that I may not speak to my husband until the purchase is complete. No where around the store do we see posted rules of this sort. As we were finalizing our purchase, we notice another couple doing the exact same process and both husband AND wife were next to each other talking away while husband was using the laptop and at noone said absolutely nothing to them about what they told me when asked to step away. And both Collin and the other worker who stood guard beside us were there and did not say one word to the other couple. We left VERY disappointed and humiliated with their customer treatment. We decided not to approach a manager as we know it wouldn't get far with our complaint. It would most likely go in one ear and out the other. But we know for sure we definitely will NOT be returning or spending our money on this location again! We are of Hispanic origin and the other couple was not. Seems that Sportsmans choose who to treat unfairly, from what was witnessed that day.
