The staff including the dentist are super professional and gave me the feeling that I was part of the team and welcome. They gave me a full x-ray checkup and a plan for a wisdom teeth removal with Dr. Patel their surgeon. I was not aware that SHIP covers up to 80% of wisdom teeth extractions so if you need to remove them, this is the time and place. I like to think I am using my insurance wisely. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr.Nima and his staff. I have been going to them for a couple years now and they are wonderful. They take the extra time to explain everything that is going on and they are more than willing to sit and answer any questions that you might have. I never get the feeling that I am being rushed. This is the only dentist office that has ever made me feel relaxed (Tang Center at the University recommended them). My very first experience at this office was like a dream. Everyone was so kind and genuine. Dr. Nima was sincere, knowledgeable, and listened to my concern. The process was smooth and pain-free. My insurance through SHIP covered almost everything. With COVID, it's been hard to take care of my teeth and finding a dentist office that follows a good protocol and this office is still on top of all that. Highly recommend. I have been going to campus dental since I moved to CAL. I am very happy with our dental student services. Whatever is said on the website is true, I got my full exam and cleaning for free. They even gave me a free electric tooth brush and whitening kit! REALLY???? Thank god I only needed 2 fillings. Dr. Nima was super nice and he respected my busy schedule and did the fillings on that same visit. Thank you for that, you guys are the best. Dr. Nima was also very up front and further mentioned my crazy wisdom teeth positioning and eruption :/ man they looked odd!!!!!!!!!!! I have known and visited Dr. Anthony Needham for some time, in many capacities, not just as a patient. A bunch of my friends who went to UC Berkely used Campus Dental Care for their dental treatments and cleanings. They appreciated the referral, and mentioned the practice used their "SHIP", program, and once they graduated, they all got affordable dental insurance which the practice accepts. I did my research and there are barely any practices in the area that have a root canal "specialist" working there, let alone being treated by an experienced dentist. Most of the more senior dentists around Berkely are out of network and frankly have so much established business they don't routinely cater to new patients as Campus Dental Care does. It's the ideal practice for a Berkely student to visit, for many reasons not just their acceptance of most insurances. read more

Long story short: Campus Dental is overpricing students for the same, if not worse, service you can get somewhere else. These 5 star reviews are probably promotional and paid for. If you are a Cal student, don't be fooled by Campus Dental. They are not the only dentist you can go to for dental care, and they're certainly not the best care or best priced. There are tons of other offices very close by. If you need to get your wisdom teeth removed, definitely go somewhere else. My first consultation was cancelled and rescheduled, which isn't unusual but nonetheless annoying. During the consultation, they took X-rays and the doctor seemed to be in a rush even though there was no one waiting after me. Then the quote for wisdom teeth removal included a massive $250 charge for nitrous gas that wouldn't be covered by insurance! I naively scheduled my wisdom teeth removal appointment for the following week and it was again cancelled! Because the specialist only comes in once a month, my appointment was rescheduled for the next month! When I asked if I could go to the specialist's practice, they said they didn't have any information about where he or she worked. That just doesn't make any sense! When I tried to get a copy of my X-ray to take to another dentist, they said it would take over 4 business days! I called Bayside Oral, and was able to get an appointment the next day to do both a consultation and removal in the same appointment. They also graciously gave me a free X-ray after I told them I unsuccessfully tried to obtain it from Campus Dental. Bayside charged me 40% of what Campus Dental was going to charge for nitrous gas AND the charge for removing my teeth was much cheaper as well. In total, the cost to get my wisdom teeth removed at Bayside Oral was much much cheaper than Campus Dental. Frankly the office and staff there are much nicer than Campus Dental. In the time you get a consultation for your wisdom teeth and schedule an appointment for the removal, you could easily have gone somewhere else to get you teeth removed for astronomically cheaper costs. Campus Dental is just trying to squeeze money out of SHIP insurance students. read more

Hey all on this board. This was a great dental experience for me. I wish my previous college had the same SHIP program and helped us with our dental needs ! Dr. Needham was my first dentist on my first visit, I got my cleaning from him and the dental assistants finished the job. They were great and friendly. I never felt like I was actually at the dental office. After my exam I was referred to Dr. Nima for my root canal since I had been experiencing pain on one of my upper teeth. Dr. Nima a true gentleman took care of my root canal with absolutely no pain. Root canal and no pain !!! ??? Well he did great and I have nothing but to say great things about my entire experience at Campus Dental Care. I'd recommend Campus Dental Care to anyone! I've had my cleaning done there and recently was helped after my filling fell out. Dr. Anthony Needham and his assistants (Vanessa was one I believe) worked to fill it again rather than just doing a root canal. They also applied my insurance as well as my parents in combination to make the cost lower! I made a visit to this office when school started in August of 2017. I have been their patient ever since. They are bunch of nice and welcoming people. Dr Needham is very straight forward, he told me that I have some cavities on a few of my teeth but they are all in early stages basically in my enamel. He prescribed me some fluoride tooth paste and asked me to floss between my teeth hoping it will stop. Moving forward 2 years later, he has been monitoring them and thank god I didn't have to get any of them filled!! He saved me my teeth and a lot of $$$$. PRO TIP: If you have SHIP, use it to your advantage because you get two free cleanings, xrays and checkups each year. (It's my fourth year at Cal and I cannot believe I did not realize this now.) My experience at Campus Dental Care was amazing. Everything from the fall decor, to the receptionists, doctor, equipment, and nurses were so nice! The space was bigger than I imagined and very clean. My experience here was top notch. My SHIP expired since I graduated but they were so nice to honor the same fees!!! The staff were super friendly and helpful and there was no wait and the clinic was not busy or packed with people. Came to this dental office while I was a student, thinking that it's close by the campus, convinient, and covered SHIP (student insurance). Initially came for cleaning and cavity treatment, but doctor suggested I need 3-4 crowns to help protect the teeth and aesthetic look. So I work with them on the procedure to plan out which ones to do first according to how much the insurance covers and co-pay. The first right tooth got crown in spring 2017 by dr. Nima's wife (forget her name). Works great. Came back for 2 front teeth crowns in fall 2017 by dr.Nima. everything looks good. By spring 2018, one of them fell off while I was eating dinner. Schedule next day to have it fix. Dr.Needham just glue it back and tell me to come back so the original doctor (dr. Nima) who put the crown on me can fix it by putting a supporting screw since he shave off too much of my tooth at the first place. When I came back, dr.Nima just told me to not bite too hard while eating on the front teeth (assuming that it is my fault). At this point, I dont want to argue and just want them to at least fix or do sth abt it. Dr.Nima attempt to fix it by pulling the crown out and redo the process again. After few minutes of trying, he just told me since it glued back strongly and still look functional, it should be fine and suggest not to do anything further. After that service, I decided not to go ahead and do the #4 crown. Probably 2 months after graduated and moved back to SoCal, I got an autotext message from the clinic. I read it and gave them a call right away. The lady over the phone said I should come in to schedule appt for the last crown b4 my insurance expire this July ('18). She made it sound like an urgent and that sth bad is going to happen. I asked her if it was an urgent, why doesnt the doctor tell me when I was there fixing my front tooth. She said he told u back in Sept 2017. Make me question their customer service and their ethic. Clearly, I'm not going back for another crown from a doctor that doesnt do a good job. Getting the "urgent" sort of pushy capitalism text from this clinic even infuriated me more! I will definetly get a second opinion from a trusted dentist in my local area. read more

I decided to check out campus dental because I was way overdue for a checkup. To put it shortly, Dr. Nima was extremely professional with his work. I am super happy with the treatment I received from Campus Dental! Originally I used my SHIP and went for a quick check up with a Doctor on Telegraph Ave. She told me that I needed 11 fillings and I needed to extract all my wisdom teeth!! This was very scary for me but I knew that I had not been to the dentist for 3 years and this may be what I really need!? I was debating on the treatment for a year until one of my friends introduced me to Campus Dental. I went to Tang center to verify them and actually they had nothing but positive reviews for me SO: here I am at campus dental a little year after my first dentist visit. They did few xrays and dr nima examined my teeth and told me that infact I have a few small cavities. Just to be fair to the original dentist, dr nima found 8 not 11 but he mentioned that some of them are very small and still in my enamel and I may be able to reverse them if I use fluoride tooth paste or whatever tooth past he prescribed me. Anyways, I ended up with doing 6 fillings not 11 !!! No shots or needle (thank god) which was the best part. I ended up getting g a free cleaning because ship school insurance covered it fully!!!!! I am super happy with dr. Nima he is very kind and honest and explains everything in detail to you before any treatment. I also found out that 2 out of my 4 teeth can stay and don't need to be taken out. I am very thankful to tang center for introducing campus dental to me. Also staff were very nice to me through out. I am scheduling my wisdom teeth extraction with their partner (dr pham) not sure if I mentioned his name correctly or not but have full confidence that he will be as great as others at this clinic. I am so glad we have Campus Dental Service so close to us. I am a CAL student and happy to let everyone here on YELP know that my experience was one of a kind at a place everyone hates to be (Dental clinic) really !!! Anyways, I figured that our SHIP insurance also includes a dental program so I decided to visit Campus Dental after all. I had not been to a dentist for over 3 years and I was really worried that I may have some cavities. I also had some jaw ache towards the back of my mouth which happened to be my problematic wisdom teeth. My first appointment went really well, apparently SHIP covers 80% of the cost of any fillings or even removal of bad wisdom teeth. I had a few small cavities. Dr. Nima showed me my visible cavities on the xray and pictures he took from my teeth and Dr. Phan the surgeon removed all my 4 wisdom teeth in less than 30 minutes. I ended up going back for my 6 month check up and i got all the service including the cleaning free of charge to me. 5:30 am, 10/31/18, I was flossing my teeth when all of a sudden, I was a holding a good portion of my tooth in my hand. This is the first time this happened to me and didn't know what to do and who to call; I have had nightmares of breaking my teeth and here it was that morning, my tooth(filling) is broken. I thought I would be lucky to get seen by anyone in a week's time; however, when I called Campus Dental Care yesterday, they were able to see me an hr after they opened. I have worked in retail, my whole adult life, before I went back to school, and I understand what it takes to "fit" someone in the schedule, you want to be nice and take everyone in, but it does throw a wrench into everything. So, the office being able to fit me in was a huge relief and a plus, I truly truly appreciate it. Long story short, I needed a crown. Again, I was expecting to just get the hole plugged up, temporarily, and be sent away, to come back a different day to actually start the crown. BUT, they were able to do the tooth prep same day, and I just have to come back to get the actual crown put in after the lab finishes it. This is the first time, I got anything other than a filling done on my teeth. I was a bit nervous, but the office made the whole process pleasant. As a student at Cal, I visited this office for my dental needs. I was referred to them by the Tang center. First I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She was very helpful in making me understand my SHIP dental benefits. Then after a few Xrays, Dr. Nima examined me, he was proud of me for my good oral Hygiene. Believe it or not I had not been to the dentist for over 3.5 years and thought he will at least find a cavity but I ended up not needing any treatment!!! He was super nice and you could easily tell he was not there to over charge me and do any unnecessary treatment. So I just got my cleaning and fluoride rinse done, all of the above free of charge. The assistants were really nice and welcoming, one of them finished the final stage of my cleaning, unfortunately I forgot her name but everyone was nice including the other scary looking Dr with the beard. I've been on the fence about this dentist office since day one. It seems as though it is really hit or miss as far as who you come into contact with. Some employees are extremely nice, others are extremely rude and dismissive. It does not seem like common practice to not give a debriefing for current or future procedures. I was given the bare minimum. I was told I needed a root canal, and no further information. I was not informed it would require two separate visits, or whether or not I could attend classes and work after the procedure. Literally zero information. SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Their specialists ONLY come on Thursdays for a very tiny window in the mornings. If you are a student and can't afford to miss the same class repeatedly within a month or a semester, you'll have to find a different dentist. (One of the receptionists, the older woman?) was the most unhelpful, unsympathetic person in all my interactions with her. I've called many dentist offices, and almost all good receptionists are super helpful and provide feedback and great recommendations. This receptionist provided nothing. During my previous visit, upon making a Thursday appointment, she mentioned that they may add a day due to high demand for the specialists to arrive, however, when I mentioned it to her this time, she literally told me she never said that and made me feel like an idiot for even mentioning it. I recommend that this office consider how they interact with patients who may not be as versed, or familiar with dental procedures. It may be beneficial to provide detailed information to your patients regarding what specific procedures entail - we didn't all go to dental school. Also, I'd recommend for this receptionist to not be so dismissive, rude, or aloof towards customers. After all, we are seeking you guys for HELP. The least you could do is provide it. read more
