They sent multiple text reminders for my appointment, which was supposed to be in early January. I showed up 10 minutes early and waited outside until 40 minutes past my appointment time, and no one was in the office. I tried calling, left multiple voicemails, and heard no response. I called every week for three weeks after my appointment to make sure they hadn't charged my insurance so that I could go and see someone else, and they also did not answer and did not return my voicemails. The service is so bad! They only have one doctor. I schedule an appointment for fillings and when I arrived there they told me the doctor just didn't' want to do any fillings today and need to reschedule another appointment! How ridiculous! And all of them (the accountant or the doctor) are very arrogant. They didn't feel sorry or apologized for it. They just said it and went away. This place is near to UC Berkeley and they have enough student patients, so they just didn't care about patients anyway! read more

Be cautious about this practice. I went in for an exam, and was told that I needed a crown, without a clear reason at the time. I went to another office, and the second dentist fixed it with just fillings and said crown wasn't necessary. The doctor wasn't very attentive and was quick to give diagnosis. Thank you so much to Dr. Needham and his team! They were able to fit me in for an emergency root canal yesterday, and I am incredibly grateful to them. They were able to give me a same day appointment and relieve me of the extreme pain I was in. The office was clean and they were only seeing a single patient at a time, so it felt very safe. Want to start by saying "Thank you all at Campus Dental". I had a great experience at your dental clinic and figured I should share it with all other students at CAL. I had a lot of pain over the weekend and reached out to Tang center to help, I was then referred to Campus Dental and next you know I needed a root canal! I guess I waited a little too long on my cavity and this was the result. Dr. Nima explained the situation to me very clearly via the XRAY and Dr. Needham took care of my treatment. He saved whatever was left of my tooth, I am so grateful. I had my first visit and cleaning here today and had a great experience! It was easy to make and appointment ( I wandered in two weeks ago) and the day of was quick and pain-free. The women working the front desk was friendly and helpful and the dental assistant Liz was super nice and made the cleaning comfortable. The doctor was easy to talk with and gave honest advice about my teeth and future options. I'm really glad I went and the location makes it easy to fit in between classes. Probably the best dentist experience I've ever had! Vanessa was extremely attentive and gentle during my x-rays and cleaning. Dr. Needham is hilarious and laid back, and also more present than I am used to with other dentists (which I think is a good thing!). Overall a very inviting and not-at-all-intimidating experience; and this is coming from someone who historically doesn't exactly *look forward* to going to the dentist. But honestly my last visit has changed that for me! I will be returning in six months and am actually looking forward to it! read more

Nothing is worse than a toothache during a pandemic, not to mention when you are new in town and don't know any dentists ( a good one). I got a recommendation from a friend and hoped all goes well, they were actually closed because of the shelter in place order and were only seeing patient with a dental emergency. I am happy to say Dr.Nima was absolutely awesome. He took care of a bad cavity very gently, and made me feel very comfortable. Absolutely a 5 star dentist office.  I would give 10 stars if there was a higher rating available. They do great work and have a very caring attitude. I luckily stumbled upon Campus Dental Care when visiting Tang Center. I am not a fan of having to go to the dentist like most people here, but I am able to totally relax when coming here and have firm faith that they will take best care of me. I have had many dental procedures in the past, some good, some not so good. I am so in love with my dental care since I have joined this amazing Father/Daughter team. As most of us, we get a referral from a friend for different things. My dentist of 18 yrs, retired and I felt lost. A beautiful friend of mine told me about Lydia Ausberry and once I met her and we talked about my dental care I was so happy! After Dr. Lydia decided to raise her beautiful daughter, I was concerned that I was right back in the sling of finding a new dentist once again. NOT!! Her beautiful dad, Dr. David Ausberry was the true jewel in the crown. Such a blessing for me. I will roll with them until the wheels fall off. I visit another local dentist that accepted my parent's dental insurance. He gave me a huge treatment plan as if I had not visited a dentist for years!! I didn't know Campus Dental also accepted other insurances but SHIP, so I came here for a second opinion. As I thought, I needed a fraction of the work that the other dentist diagnosed!!!! The office is very honest in their opinion and very professional. In fact, they needed to retake some of my x-rays and since the other dentist already charged my insurance they did them free of charge. I basically got a cleaning from Dr. Needham and his assistant. I then scheduled with Dr. Phan to pull my wisdom teeth. Got rid of those in one sitting and healed in 24 hours!!! Great experience for me all around. I agree with a lot of people here that dentist office is not a fun place to hang out so if you can manage to be happy walking out, you should not think twice about visiting this place. Mortified of the childhood memories of the dentist that have haunted my nightmares... This place came out of a fairytale dream, the best dentist visit of my entire life. I came in expecting hours for me to be confined in the walls, but the warm and endearing environment Vanessa, Daniela, Brooke, Dr. Needham, and Joan made me feel was unremarkable. I wanted to stay longer, lol. From starting to fill out the papers, I asked Joan, "What if I don't have a social security?", and she immediately told me not to worry about it. The relief to see an accepting environment to offer health services to anyone, bless. Daniela took care of my clean up, and I could not have felt more taken care of as she explained every process and question I had about keeping my dental health the best as possible. She even shared her funny encounters of not finding cinnamon dental floss for her suegra haha. Dr. Needham approached me with any concerns I had about my teeth and even though he told me that my wisdom teeth needed to be taken out :O I trusted their services to take care of me. I had 5 cavities, and they took care of them painlessly in less than 20 min. This was unimaginable for me, because I grew up fearing the syringe numbing me, instead they had liquid that was only meant to be in the mouth for 60 seconds. They even gave me a free electric toothbrush, something I never had growing up. I couldn't be more grateful for this experience. My teeth can be trusted in their hands =) read more

Good service but bad advertisement. I'm not very happy as they advertised that they were open on Saturday, since having access to a Saturday option is helpful for those that work 8 hour days. Started my treatment with their generic version of Invisalign. I do not recommend this option for the following: -You only have a two hour window of taking these trays out and consuming food. - I was unable to talk with these on because they gave me a really bad lisp and a thick one at that. Meetings forced me to take them out. - Taking them out discreetly is a challenge. They are usually draped in saliva. - You meet with them on a monthly basis so that your trays are swapped out. For the full time employee, not really an option. They also do not accept Delta Dental HMO but do accept the Delta Dental PPO/Premier. So if you are a student, it is good since they seem to work with you and your plans and billing options plus location is great. I would recommend braces, so that you don't have to adapt to the trays, unless you don't acquire the lisp associated with putting something "on" your teeth. read more

I had no problems with customer service. The staff was friendly. I came here to get a molar checked because I was having severe pain. I had x-rays done my first appointment and about two weeks later the specialist looked at my tooth for 30 seconds and told me I had to get it removed. Soon after, I received an estimate over $800.00 with insurance to get the tooth extracted. I decided not to go through the procedure. Instead, I looked around for another dentistry. I ended up going to Orinda Oral Surgery also located in Berkeley and got the molar extracted for $56. read more

Cleaning services offered here are fine and recommended. However, do not get braces from this place - it was largely ineffective for me. The procedure took twice as long as it could've been and I left with very disappointing results. I had to get my teeth aligned for a second time with a professional orthodontist this year and it's been so much better than Campus Dental. read more

I've been to ~5 different dentists in my life and always had the impression people in that field in general lacked empathy (to the point of being possibly sadistic...?), and/or disliked their work and were just in it for the money. After an exceptionally traumatic experience with my first cavities I stopped going for ~10 years, until pain caused me to search for a new one on yelp...I'm low income and thanks to Obamacare I have Covered CA for free, but the only places that accept it have the same nightmare reviews as my experiences, so I bit the bullet and splurged on out-of-pocket care based on better reviews... SO grateful that I did, my 2 visits to CDC have been a revelation; I was upfront about my anxiety and they were very accommodating and compassionate, as well as cleaner and more efficient than other places I've been to. I'm shocked what a difference it made to just have people that take the time to communicate and not treat you like an inanimate object, and rush you through because you're just another invoice...perhaps those other dentists were underpaid/undertrained, I don't know, but I blame our broken healthcare system; Medicare for all! High quality care should be available for everyone, not just people who can afford it. Big thanks to Dr. Needham and Vanessa etc. for the excellent service and professionalism! read more

Students you got SHIP? You go here. That's all I can say. Service and people here are number one. I agree with most people on this board that the Doctors are so nice and great! Doctor Needham & Doctor Nima both saw me since I had a little complicated situation and they both referred me to Dr Chan the specialist for final decision. Dr. Chan was super, she did my root canal. I was worried when I was on the chair but she assured me that all will be fine. She was so nice, then I realized she is a HARVARD graduate and I was even more impressed with her work!!! After all she was so humble!!!! Any ways, they saved my molar and Dr. Needham did a crown on that root canal tooth and saved the tooth for me. I can now chew and eat on my right side all thanks to these wonderful and caring people. Thank you allllllllllllll read more

I'm a new patient and EVERYONE in the office was professional and welcoming. The office is sterile, up-to-date with modern equipment and a pleasant environment. I came to CDC to evaluate and repair my failing, ill-fitted dental bridge. Dr. Needham was knowledgeable, very informative and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. So, some background information. I used this location for teeth cleanings, fillings, x-rays, and check-ups starting from 2012 (when I was a Berkeley student). During the first visit, the dentist performed a check and said I needed fillings for cavities that I did not believe existed. After asking for his opinion on what made him think so, he kept stating his education at UCSF. I mean, sure, that's great and all, but what does this have to do with the actual physical examination? The staff also don't care about you and look like they don't even want to be working there, which is great for your motivation too as the patient. But anyways, fast forward to Nov. 2016 when I request an appointment for the same thing I've asked for every year. After talking on the phone to the front desk receptionist, who seemed like she had no idea what I wanted despite leaving her a written message stating the exams I would like, she booked me for the next day. She then asked if I came in before and I said yes, I have been using this organization with UC SHIP. She said that this new information "changes things", and immediately pushed my appointment out to December 28. DECEMBER. 28. I had already finalized everything in terms of exams and appointment time too. I spoke with the manager and she said my exam changed (?) so that's why they were changing to a different time block? Then she hung up on me. Anyways, you can make your own decision and whether or not the free teeth cleaning from SHIP is actually worth it or not. You can do it elsewhere. Also, anything other than cleaning is not covered by your insurance so you pay out of pocket. Absolutely ridiculous service and terrible attitude, not to mention just the ineptitude of managing to take a customer's money. I wonder if I'll get a response? I'd love to see that. Don't bother and find somewhere else. read more

Campus Dental is a fantastic place -- Dr. Needham is a great dentist, he is honest, he'll let you know what you need and won't push unnecessary procedures on you. The whole staff there is wonderful, from the dental hygienists, who do great cleanings and take time to make sure they are thorough and complete, to the desk staff, who are always friendly and accommodating. I've come in twice for their services (general cleaning and a wisdom teeth extraction) and their service was great. Despite having 4 impacted wisdom teeth, their procedure was quick and easy. They use conscious sedation for extraction so the procedure is painless and you can take care of yourself right after the procedure (if you're concerned about being the next trending wisdom tooth extraction sensation). They also make sure you understand what you need to do in order to take care of your teeth and mouth right after. Despite the typical pain that comes from wisdom tooth extractions, I'm doing a lot better than I expected! IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CAL STUDENTS: if you have SHIP and are concerned about the cost of a procedure, no need to fear! The services aren't just high quality but they are also affordable with your SHIP insurance. I would highly recommend! read more

I am definitely one of those people that gets filled with dread and anxiety going to the dentist. Luckily, the team at Campus Dental Care do their best to calm my nerves and Dr. Needham is very kind and laid back even in his warnings about my cavity prone teeth. I've been going there since I was a student at Cal in 2018 and have kept going back since. I always feel welcomed by the staff and feel like I walk away with very clear instructions on care for my teeth before I go. It's also in an incredibly convenient office location, at least for bikers and walkers since it's only a few blocks from downtown Bart And the central UC Berkeley campus. read more

I can not thank you guys enough! My lower wisdom teeth were coming out sideways and they were giving my jaw-ache and headache. I went to Tang Center and right away I was referred to Campus Dental for a check up. My first visit was with Dr. Nima and he put me on some medication and scheduled me with Dr. Phan who happens to be the Oral Surgeon in the same office.  Dr. Phan was very upfront after reviewing my Xrays, he told me to remove all 4 wisdom and never look back. He also told me that my recovery would be no more than couple of days and not 1 week to 10 days that some of my friends were warning me. Guess what all went smooth during extraction and he was super professional and kind. Recovery was less than 2 days, I never missed school and was up and running the next day.  I am happy to share my experience with you all. I highly recommend this place. SHIP is great as well since it covered some 80% of my cost. "Use it before you loose it" as they all say. read more
