This was the worst experience I've ever had with a dental office. I made an appointment MONTHS ago for two broken teeth. I have autoimmune diseases that affect my health in various ways. One tooth was so incredibly painful! They told me that the soonest I could get in was today, January 30th. I think this was 3 months after I called. They told me in the meantime, I could go to the emergency room, or get antibiotics from my doctor. My doctor did help me, thank goodness! They texted me that I had an appointment today, which I was aware of. I didn't know I needed to text back. I also missed a phone call from them the same day. Apparently, they cancelled my appointment and I didn't know. I went in today with my husband who took the day off from work to be with me. My anxiety was already high because it was a brand new dentist office for me and I was nervous about my broken teeth. The office manager came out to explain what had happened. At first she said my appointment was cancelled because I didn't respond to the text, then she told me it was cancelled because someone was sick that day. That made me upset, because I felt like she wasn't being honest with me. I asked her which one was it and she got angry with me! She raised her voice and started yelling at me that I was being hostile! I was upset that my appointment had been cancelled, the fact that I had waited 3 months to even get in with 2 broken/infected teeth, she was being deceptive about why they had to cancel, and also, the text didn't make sense and had improper grammar. I didn't read all of it the day I got it, because the first sentence was just confirming the appointment that I had made. I asked her to speak to someone else (hoping to stop the yelling she was doing), but she said that she was it and she was the office manager. She wax extremely rude and condescending and kept talking over me. I asked her to please stop and can we just look at the next available appointment? She got belligerent and told me she was done with me and to leave. I have NEVER been spoken to in that way from an 'office manager '. I'm glad that I did leave because if that's what they see as professional, I don't want to have any part of their business. They need to be more understanding and empathetic when it comes to stressful situations. They definitely shouldn't have someone so rude representing their office. It was disgusting and demeaning! I don't know how the service of the technicians and dentists were because I never got to see them. Instead of giving me the run around and trying to put me in my place do the was 'right ', all she had to do was calmly say, "I'm sorry there was miscommunication, let's see when we can get you in next time." She argued and blamed me instead snd said I was being hostile. She definitely shouldn't be working in a customer care position!!! read more

Absolutely disgusting treatment! The dental hygienist was patronizing and rude, and the dentist was not much better. As she walked into the room while the dentist was showing me X-rays, she said loudly "someone needs to floss!" to which I replied, "I do", and then she began telling me about the dangers of eating crackers and drinking coffee with creamer without brushing right after. She implied that I wasn't dirty/smelly, even though my mouth was completely ruined according to her. So that is what she thinks of people that cannot afford dental care in the US. Hey all so I'm a new member to the campus family dental. The first time I went was back in October or late September for bad tooth pain. Everyone in office was so nice and awesome. Great staff great care. I was told that I was gonna get a call for a cleaning and never got the call until late week for someone's else's cancellation . They said they can schedule me for the 15th if December. I have never gone to them for a cleaning so today comes and I have a funeral that I need to get into Ft Wayne for so I was going to go after my appointment. However, when I looked online to get the address, it said they were closed. I called once, and since there's no answer, I assume they were close, because why would I get scheduled on a day that they were closed. Since I didn't get an answer, I decided I just had to Fort Wayne. I get a call from the office lady and she was a little bit rude and when I told her I misunderstood because of the fact that her hours online say something totally different, she became upset and said, so I just wasn't coming in anyway. Which isn't the case. I did call, but no one answered and then before I could say anything else I'll let her know know I was coming to my appointment first and then I was gonna go. She then hang the phone up on . I know life gets tough and things get really busy but at the same time I feel like she could've showed a little bit more empathy as it wasn't as if I just didn't wanna show up to my appointment. I've only ever been to this place once those two months ago, so how was I to know that they are open on Fridays? read more

Thos is the worst dental office I have ever been to. First of all, it's located within the back of someone's house. Second, Monica at the front desk is so rude and very condescending toward new patients and those who use HIP insurance. Second, they schedule you for a simple extraction, but promptly tell you that the dentist doesn't have time once you're already there, then sends you to another office 45 minutes away from Bloomington. Lastly, I overheard several assistants badmouthing and laughing about a patient who had just left- they quietly laughed at him and said he had "meth mouth". What a horrible establishment! read more

I switched insurance a few months ago and just got around to scheduling an appointment with Campus Family Dental. My experience was great - clean office in a cute house. My hygienist was very thorough, but gentle. The dentist was a good listener and explained things well. They processed my new insurance no problem. I went in for an emergency visit, and felt very judged. I was medically neglected and now as a young adult I'm trying to go to the dentist and see doctors. I didn't realize how long it had been since my last cleaning(a little under two years) and I had a few cavities. The dental heigenist didn't listen to me at all when I was describing what was going on. Then, they took xrays(not the bitewing, just the one where they put a piece in your mouth, but it was extra painful there). Because of medical neglect and having only had Medicaid my whole life, I've seen some shitty dentists. The tooth that had the abscess was apparently about 50% filling and I had a "monstrous" cavity in another tooth. I didn't appreciate the language being used and it very much felt as though he was blaming me for the work of subpar dentists. I was about 12 when the majority of my cavities were filled. I needed two root canals. They referred me out and told me that the new office would call me(wrong I had to call them). The referral paper has number 20 circled but number 12 written(so who knows which tooth is needing the root canal) I called back a few days later because I would need crowns after a root canal and I was quoted around 3k for both. I'm a student who doesn't have 3k laying around(7 months of rent for me). I asked if there was a cheaper TEMPORARY solution, so my tooth doesn't chip while I figure out the money situation. The receptionist said they could pull it. Which is in fact a permanent solution. At the end of my appointment, they offered to put me on their waitlist for a cleaning. I said ok, and a few days later I did get a call about an opening. at 11:30 am that day. It was 10 am. Which is not a realistic ask of patients. Overall, it wasn't a very welcoming environment. Although i don't have anxiety related to dentist, i ended up crying and having a panic attack after the appointment because of how it made me feel. read more

I'm having a terrible time getting scheduled for needed work. The staff provided an examination, but due to my insurance being of lower quality, it seems that they have forgotten to get back to me after a month of waiting to schedule work. Basically, they took my exam fee money, which is probably not much, but have not scheduled anything. They said that I would get a letter for an appointment after they verified things with my insurance. It's been a month, and now I'll have to pay that fee to a different dentist to get an appointment promptly. ...and they were judgemental of my former soda drinking... Yes, I already know I need a little work, and I've been working on it over time. I can not believe how unresponsive they've been through the whole process. I've had other dentists who make me feel like they want to help, but that wasn't the case for these guys. Maybe it's a Covid-related backlog, but my old dentist, who is 2000 miles away and lives in a major urban area with lots of patients, can fit me in faster than this college town guy, who will probably now not schedule me at all and leave me hanging because of this review. ...or maybe he doesn't know what his staff is doing, I dunno. I very rarely leave reviews for anything, but had a very odd experience at Campus Family Dental. I received a routine cleaning that included x-rays. I was experiencing no symptoms, but was trying to find a dentist to get back in the habit of getting a regular cleaning every 6 months. After a routine cleaning, I was eventually told by the dentist that I needed A LOT of work done (13 cavities and maybe a crown) that would have cost between $1200 - $2500. This was far more work than I have needed in the first 25 years of my life. I then asked to have the x-rays emailed to me (they were digital). The x-rays sent were such low quality that no other dentist could read them (I sent them to my old dentist and a new dentist in Bloomington). I then went to a different dentist in town who took new x-rays. I had the new x-rays examined by the second dentist and my old dentist from my hometown who both concurred that there were a couple minor cavities, but that was it. Estimated work from two other dentist was minor and about $200 total. I know dentistry is not an exact science and dentists can be much more or less conservative than others. However, it is strange to me that the same teeth examined (with x-rays) 1 day apart could lead to such drastically different conclusions. Amazing staff, very kind, not judgementive, super caring and polite with wonderful manners and respect :). I'm a mom of 5 after living in Indianapolis going to a dentist there almost yearly he let me know I had no enamel on my teeth and basically that I was set to have dentures. After almost two years of just absolutely giving up not caring anymore I needed help with my teeth.. I made my first appointment they brought me relief but not only did they bring me relief they brought me hope and faith the main dentist and his wife are absolutely wonderful they both let me know that I could save my teeth. His wife gosh was she heaven sent literally the sweetest women ever . She walked me threw on how to properly take care of my teeth and has done an amazing job with helping me make my teeth look pretty again. . I could be more greatful and thankful I found this dentist office they are absolutely wonderful 10/10 services and not only that they even stayed opened a whole extra 2 hours to get the work finish on my teeth I needed. I appreciate the both of you guys hope you see this reveiw this world is definitely a better with people like you guys thank you for just being so helpful and restoring my faith. The staff at Campus Family Dental is very nice and welcoming, but I am not sure if they pay enough attention to detail. When I went to get my teeth cleaned it was the most painful cleaning I have ever received, and they missed two cavities even after taking X-rays. I went here for an exam, cleaning and x-rays to complete my medical clearance paperwork for the Peace Corps. Dr. Shackelford, my hygienist, and the whole office staff were so supportive and accommodating of my pain-in-the-butt paperwork needs and made the whole thing extremely pleasant and easy! The appointment was made totally affordable by a great coupon that the office manager kindly informed me about, and there was zero pressure to spend any additional money on extra services (this has been a big problem for me with previous dentist offices and actually has kept me from going to dentists for years - I did not experience that here!). Everyone who works here was warm, friendly, thorough and professional, I felt like my mouth was in excellent hands. I am very satisfied with my choice of dentist's office and would definitely return in the future (if I weren't leaving the country) or recommend to friends. Thanks! read more
