Service and price great. I ordered the presunta toasta mista sandwich. Everything except for the ham was excellent. The presunta (ham) was basically inedible due to being way too tough. Fries and onion rings crispy and tasty. My meal partner had a chicken wrap also with ham and agreed on the inedible toughness of the ham. We had dinner tonight, August 18, 2025, and it was the worse dining experience ever! Is it because we had a Groupon? Anyway when we first walked in your dining room was empty. It was so empty we didn't know what was going on.. we weren't even greeted. We walked to the doorway that separates the bar from the restaurant and shouted out a, "hello". A young woman appeared and said we could sit in the bar so we went over there and found a table. Another lady told us a pool tournament was going to happen and we couldn't sit there so back to the dining room we went. Actually, I wish we had just gone home. My son and I ordered the steak, the steak with onions peppers and shrimp. My husband ordered the fried fish. We each also ordered salads. I asked that the steaks be cooked medium. Okay, the salads were good and nice and crispy. The rolls were not soft or fresh, and the butter packets were a joke. So, let's get to the main course. Our steaks were over done and dry, far from juicy as advertised.. we didn't get any peppers or onions and when I told the older lady, she rubbed her nose-yuk-and said she didn't cook the dinners. Really? I would have expected her to apologize and go to the kitchen for the peppers and onions. She did not! She came out to the doorway and asked if everything was okay. I told her absolutely not! I once again reminded her that we're didn't get peppers and onions and our steaks were well done, dry and hard. She then had the nerve to say they were pink inside. I held mine up and asked her where the pink was? There was no pink. The steaks were the thinnest I have ever seen. She didn't care and said she would get our check. I told her I had no intention of paying for my dinner. My son ate his but he is autistic and couldn't tell bad from good plus he was hungry. Although I was rightfully not charged for my dinner, I was angry that I wasted $25 on the Groupon.. Today was my husband's birthday and I wanted to surprise him with a nice dinner. Some surprise! Incidentally, while we were there another couple arrived and stood in the doorway with no greeting. They didn't know what to do so they sat down, still no one appeared. I suggested that they go to the hallway and call someone which they did. Our experience was truly the worse ever! I'm a steak lover and couldn't eat more than 3 or 4 bites of my steak. I tried to like it but it was impossible. All in all, my husband's birthday was ruined because of their food. Oh, by the way, did he like your fried fish? Not really! He pretended to like it so I wouldn't feel worse than I already did. They really need to do better! read more

This place by far has some of the most amazing human beings working in there. They were super attentive and they truly cared about what you thought about your drinks, your food, and if you felt comfortable where you were sitting. They were so busy and yet we felt as though we were the only two people in the restaurant. They made sure that everything was perfect for us. The food was, by far, five stars for us! If there was a way to rate this restaurant with 20 stars, we would. It is Guy Fieri worthy. We will be reaching out to diners, drive-ins, and dives. If you haven't been to this restaurant, you are missing out. It is seriously a hidden gem! read more

As for the food which was in the party I went to yesterday that happened to be where the catering was from. I must say overall for the food they provided it's pretty good but my only slight gripe might be the rolls (seemed really not baked from the oven or such) but in all what they had (pasta w/meatballs, yellow rice, chicken wings, potatoes, veggies on oil sauce) but you can rest assured that they will make sure you get leftovers so you possibly want stuff for little bit you're all set. Happened to come upon this place while away at a basketball tournament, and glad I did. Food was great and our waitress Celia was so personable and attentive. What a great evening!! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they didn't have the Sangria I'm used too, they made their's with orange soda(weird). Since this restaurant was on the Mileage Plan Dining Program and had good reviews on that site, we decided to try it for lunch and very glad we did! We both had Portuguese sandwiches, mine sliced pork and hubby's was chorizo - and we both liked them. The curly fries were perfectly cooked. And even though the place was crazy busy, our bartender/waitress (she was doing it all) was super friendly and delightful. The promise margarine packets with the bread indicated that authenticity isn't the main focus here. My best friends are Portuguese and Irish/Polish and there's never been anything other than butter and oil on their tables and the restaurants we've visited. Also, American wine at a Portuguese restaurant just doesn't fit. My clams had buffalo sauce and sliced white American cheese on them. Also my clams appetizer came out at the end of the meal. Apparently they think appetizers are dessert. The grilled vegetables were the highlight of the meal. The swordfish and rice were very bland. Horrible. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. First, I am Portuguese so this restaurant drew my attention. I went there with my mother and father (also Portuguese) and my fiancée (...not Portuguese but she's still in our good graces!). The "Portuguese" restaurant was decorated with a map of Australia and two pictures of a French wine and an Italian wine... There was no, even slight, indication that this was a Portuguese place. The interior was dated, the music was horrible and loud. It was no wonder we were the only ones in the dining room. The service was a joke. Two young girls who had no idea what they were doing. It was like it was their first day even though we verified it was not. They forgot to bring food and silverware out. They bugged us constantly. And they knew nothing on the menu including what sides came with what food. The food itself was the worst part. Everything was clearly frozen food, nothing fresh. The nachos for example were store bought chips with practically no cheese complete with a couple of pieces of tomato and some lettuce... Oh and individual Kraft sour creams. Everything we ordered was bland, absolutely no seasoning. The Portuguese items were terrible and unauthentic. They didn't even have ANY Portuguese wine. Finally, the prices were astronomical, especially when your server adds everything up wrong and puts a bill on your table that's $30 more than its supposed to be. I have been to Solmar on several occasions for work parties and the service is exceptional and I have really enjoyed the food.

Great spot to eat ! Doesn't matter what you're in the mood for, the menu has a wide range of offerings. Everything is done to order and the staff is accommodating ! We love to try different places, well the Groupon made it possible for dinner 2/26/2013 Tuesday. Well walking in there are two doors, one bar, one restaurant, take the restaurant. Yes the place is family run, four table at 7 PM, all families. The dining room is very basic, but very clean indeed. We ordered a steamed clam dish, lots of flavor (garlic, cilantro, olive oil) served right in the pot steamed in great for dipping bread in. That being said the bread was warm and very tasty, had the Mozambique Shrimp, we shared, plenty, the sauce was very simple, wine, hot sauce, some butter, however the shrimp were cooked perfectly, cut in half with the shell.on. The kale soup with the spicy sausage real nice and the green bean vegetable soup was flavorful but not has Hot as it could have been. The flan with caramel sauce really was home made it tasted it very good, was a great finish. A bit pricey for what it is, however, the quality was there, the heart to give great service was there, the bottle of wine was priced right, overall a nice evening out. read more

I was in Springfield for business and decided to try something new... And I'm glad I did! The atmosphere in the bar area is very relaxed and had great lighting and I loved the artistic touch of the hand paintings on the walls! For an appetizer I had the home style shrimp. Great flavors and great for dunking the bread. For dinner I had the steak and egg with silver dollar potatoes and gravy.... Absolutely DELISH! And for desert I had the fried Oreos with a cappuccino with a pumpkin cream liquor inside as the bartenders suggestion and that was also delicious. I couldn't beleive the portion size of the oreos when they came out, definitely good to share! Overall, I was highly impressed with the food, atmosphere and very friendly service. I will not be coming back here. Bad service...waitress never came back to ask if everything was okay. There were no napkins. I had no water. Never came back to refill my glass. Took my girlfriend for dinner, we had the spicy shrimp, which I now crave for on a daily basis, I had the steak dinner that came with an egg on top and the silver dollar shaped fries with rice, all of which was fantastic. Solmar has always been known for it's exquisite cuisine whether it's seafood or a great steak with rice for a very reasonable price. I've been both eating and drinking there for many years and I must say it is a great place to have dinner with your significant other or with your family. Besides the great food, beverages and friendly staff I would have to say that my favorite part about Solmar is how clean it always is there. So in conclusion, that's why I rated Solmar Restaurant and Pub 4 stars.
